| Вооз вийшов до воріт і сидів там. І ось, іде мимо родич, про якого говорив Вооз. І сказав йому [Вооз]: зайди сюди і сядь тут. Той зайшов і сів. | And Booz went up to the gate, and sat there; and behold, the relative passed by, of whom Booz spoke: and Booz said to him, Turn aside, sit down here, such a one: and he turned aside and sat down. |

| [Вооз] узяв десять чоловік із старійшин міста і сказав: сядьте тут. І вони сіли. | And Booz took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye here; and they sat down. |

| І сказав [Вооз] родичеві: Ноєминь, яка повернулася з полів моавитських, продає частину поля, що належить братові нашому Елимелеху; | And Booz said to the relative, The matter regards the portion of the field which was our brother Elimelech's which was given to Noemin, now returning out of the land of Moab; |

| я зважився довести до вух твоїх і сказати: купи в присутності тих, що сидять тут, і в присутності старійшин народу мого; якщо хочеш викупити, викуповуй; а якщо не хочеш викупити, скажи мені, і я буду знати; бо, крім тебе, нема кому викупити; а після тебе я. Той сказав: я викуповую. | and I said, I will inform thee, saying, Buy it before those that sit, and before the elders of my people: if thou wilt redeem it, redeem it, but if thou wilt not redeem it, tell me, and I shall know; for there is no one beside thee to do the office of a kinsman, and I am after thee: and he said, I am here, I will redeem it. |

| Вооз сказав: якщо ти купиш поле в Ноємині, то повинен купити й у Руфі моавитянки, дружини померлого, і повинен взяти її заміж, щоб відновити ім’я померлого у наділі його. | And Booz said, In the day of thy buying the field of the hand of Noemin and of Ruth the Moabitess the wife of the deceased, thou must also buy her, so as to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. |

| І сказав той родич: не можу я взяти її собі, щоб не розладнати свого наділу; прийми її ти, бо я не можу прийняти. | And the kinsman said, I shall not be able to redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance; do thou redeem my right for thyself, for I shall not be able to redeem it. |

| Раніше такий був звичай у Ізраїля при викупі й при обміні для підтвердження якої-небудь справи: один знімав чобіт свій і давав іншому, [який приймав право родича,] і це було свідченням в Ізраїлі. | And this was in former time the ordinance in Israel for redemption, and for a bargain, to confirm every word: A man loosed his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour that redeemed his right; and this was a testimony in Israel. |

| І сказав той родич Воозу: купи собі. І зняв чобіт свій [і дав йому]. | And the kinsman said to Booz, Buy my right for thyself: and he took off his shoe and gave it to him. |

| І сказав Вооз старійшинам і всьому народові: ви тепер свідки того, що я купую в Ноємині все Елимелехове і все Хилеонове і Махлонове; | And Booz said to the elders and to all the people, Ye are this day witnesses, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that belonged to Chelaion and Maalon, of the hand of Noemin. |

| також і Руф моавитянку, дружину Махлонову, беру собі за дружину, щоб залишити ім’я померлого у наділі його, і щоб не зникло ім’я померлого між братами його й біля воріт місцеперебування його: ви сьогодні свідки того. | Moreover I have bought for myself for a wife Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Maalon, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance; so the name of the dead shall not be destroyed from among his brethren, and from the tribe of his people: ye are this day witnesses. |

| І сказав увесь народ, що біля воріт, і старійшини: ми свідки; нехай зробить Господь дружиною, ту, яка входить у дім твій, як Рахиль і як Лію, які обидві створили дім Ізраїлів; придбай багатство в Ефрафі, і нехай славиться ім’я твоє у Вифлеємі; | And all the people who were in the gate said, We are witnesses: and the elders said, The Lord make thy wife who goes into thy house, as Rachel and as Lia, who both together built the house of Israel, and wrought mightily in Ephratha, and there shall be a name to thee in Bethleem. |

| і нехай буде дім твій, як дім Фареса, якого народила Фамар Іуді, від того сімені, яке дасть тобі Господь від цієї молодої жінки. | And let thy house be as the house of Phares, whom Thamar bore to Juda, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this handmaid. |

| І взяв Вооз Руф, і вона стала його дружиною. І увійшов він до неї, і Господь дав їй вагітність, і вона народила сина. | And Booz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her; and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son. |

| І говорили жінки Ноємині: благословенний Господь, що Він не залишив тебе нині без спадкоємця! І нехай буде славне ім’я його в Ізраїлі! | And the women said to Noemin, Blessed is the Lord, who has not suffered a redeemer to fail thee this day, even to make thy name famous in Israel. |

| Він буде тобі втіхою і годувальником у старості твоїй, тому що його народила невістка твоя, яка любить тебе, яка для тебе краще за сім синів. | And he shall be to thee a restorer of thy soul, and one to cherish thy old age; for thy daughter-in-law which has loved thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, has born him. |

| І взяла Ноєминь дитя це, і носила його в обіймах своїх, і була йому нянькою. | And Noemin took the child and laid it in her bosom, and became a nurse to it. |

| Сусідки нарекли йому ім’я і говорили: «у Ноємині народився син», і нарекли йому ім’я: Овид. Він батько Ієссея, батька Давидового. | And the neighbours gave it a name, saying, A son has been born to Noemin; and they called his name Obed; this is the father of Jessæ the father of David. |

| І ось рід Фаресів: Фарес народив Есрома; | And these are the generations of Phares: Phares begot Esrom: |

| Есром народив Арама; Арам народив Аминадава; | Esrom begot Aram; and Aram begot Aminadab. |

| Аминадав народив Наассона; Наассон народив Салмона; | And Aminadab begot Naasson; and Naasson begot Salmon. |
|

| Салмон народив Вооза; Вооз народив Овида; | And Salmon begot Booz; and Booz begot Obed. |
|

|
| Овид народив Ієссея; Ієссей народив Давида. | And Obed begot Jessæ; and Jessæ begot David. |
