Глава 1	Chapter 1

Слово Господнє, яке було до Іоїля, сина Вафуїла.	The word of the Lord which came to Joel the son of Bathuel.
2	2
Слухайте це, старці, і прислухайтесь, усі жителі землі цієї: чи бувало таке у дні ваші або у дні батьків ваших?	Hear these words, ye elders, and hearken all ye that inhabit the land. Have such things happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
3	3
Передайте про це дітям вашим; а діти ваші нехай скажуть своїм дітям, а їхні діти наступному роду:	Tell your children concerning them, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
4	4
те, що залишилося від гусені, їла сарана, що залишилося від сарани, їла черва, а що залишилося від черви, доїли жуки.	The leavings of the caterpillar has the locust eaten, and the leavings of the locust has the palmerworm eaten, and the leavings of the palmerworm has the cankerworm eaten.

Пробудіться, п’яниці, всі, хто п’є вино, плачте і ридайте за виноградним соком, бо він віднятий від уст ваших!	Awake, ye drunkards, from your wine, and weep: mourn, all ye that drink wine to drunkenness: for joy and gladness are removed from your mouth.

Бо прийшов на землю Мою народ сильний і незліченний; зуби у нього — зуби левині, і щелепи у нього — як у левиці.	For a strong and innumerable nation is come up against my land, their teeth are lion's teeth, and their back teeth those of a lion's whelp.

Спустошив він виноградну лозу Мою, і смоковницю Мою обламав, обдер її догола, і кинув; зробилися білими гілки її.	He has ruined my vine, and utterly broken my fig-trees: he has utterly searched my vine, and cast it down; he has peeled its branches.
8	8
Ридай, як молода дружина, підперезавшись веретищем, за чоловіком юности своєї!	Lament to me more than a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9	9
Припинилося хлібне приношення й узливання у домі Господньому; плачуть священики, служителі Господні.	The meat-offering and drink-offering are removed from the house of the Lord: mourn, ye priests that serve at the altar of the Lord.
10	10
Спустошене поле, ремствує земля; бо знищено хліб, висох виноградний сік, зав’яла маслина.	For the plains languish: let the land mourn, for the corn languishes; the wine is dried up, the oil becomes scarce;
11	11
Червонійте від сорому, хлібороби, ридайте, виноградарі, за пшеницею та ячменем, тому що загинуло жниво у полі,	the husbandmen are consumed: mourn your property on account of the wheat and barley; for the harvest has perished from off the field.
12	12
засохла виноградна лоза і смоковниця зав’яла; гранатове дерево, пальма і яблуня, всі дерева у полі посохли; тому і веселощі у синів людських зникли.	The vine is dried up, and the fig-trees are become few; the pomegranate, and palm-tree, and apple, and all the trees of the field are dried up: for the sons of men have abolished joy.
13	13
Підпережіться веретищем і плачте, священики! ридайте, служителі вівтаря! ввійдіть, ночуйте у веретищах, служителі Бога мого! бо не стало у домі Бога вашого хлібного приношення й узливання.	Gird yourselves with sackcloth, and lament, ye priests: mourn, ye that serve at the altar: go in, sleep in sackcloths, ye that minister to God: for the meat-offering and drink-offering are withheld from the house of your God.
14	14
Призначте піст, оголосіть урочисте зібрання, скличте старців і всіх жителів країни цієї у дім Господа Бога вашого, і взивайте до Господа.	Sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn service, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God, and cry earnestly to the Lord,
15	15
О, який день! бо день Господній близько; як спустошення від Всемогутнього прийде він.	Alas, alas, alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is nigh, and it will come as trouble upon trouble.
16	16
Чи не перед нашими очима віднімається їжа, від дому Бога нашого — веселощі і радість?	Your meat has been destroyed before your eyes, joy and gladness from out of the house of your God.
17	17
Зотліли зерна під брилами своїми, спорожніли житниці, зруйновані комори, бо не стало хліба.	The heifers have started at their mangers, the treasures are abolished, the wine-presses are broken down; for the corn is withered.
18	18
Як стогне худоба! похмуро ходять стада волів, бо немає для них пасовища; знемагають і отари овець.	What shall we store up for ourselves? the herds of cattle have mourned, because they had no pasture; and the flocks of sheep have been utterly destroyed.
19	19
До Тебе, Господи, взиваю; бо вогонь пожер рясні пасовища пустелі, і полум’я попалило всі дерева у полі.	To thee, O Lord, will I cry: for fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness, and a flame has burnt up all the trees of the field.
20	20
Навіть і тварини на полі взивають до Тебе, тому що засохли потоки вод, і вогонь знищив пасовища пустелі.	And the cattle of the field have looked up to thee: for the fountains of waters have been dried up, and fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness.
Глава 2	Chapter 2

1	1
Сурміть трубою на Сионі і бийте тривогу на святій горі Моїй; нехай тремтять усі жителі землі, бо настає день Господній, бо він близько —	Sound the trumpet in Sion, make a proclamation in my holy mountain, and let all the inhabitants of the land be confounded: for the day of the Lord is near;
2	2
день темряви і мороку, день хмарний і туманний: як ранкова зоря поширюється по горах народ численний і сильний, якого не бувало від віку і після того не буде у роди родів.	for a day of darkness and gloominess is near, a day of cloud and mist: a numerous and strong people shall be spread upon the mountains as the morning; there has not been from the beginning one like it, and after it there shall not be again even to the years of many generations.

Перед ним пожирає вогонь, а за ним палить полум’я; перед ним земля, як сад Едемський, а позаду нього буде спустошений степ, і нікому не буде порятунку від нього.	Before them is a consuming fire, and behind them is a flame kindled: the land before them is as a paradise of delight, and behind them a desolate plain: and there shall none of them escape.

Вигляд його як вигляд коней, і скачуть вони, як вершники;	Their appearance is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they pursue.
5	5
скачуть по вершинах гір ніби зі стуком колісниць, ніби з тріском вогненного полум’я, яке пожирає солому, як сильний народ, вишикуваний до битви.	As the sound of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, and as the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, and as a numerous and strong people setting themselves in array for battle.

Побачивши його, затремтять народи, у всіх лиця збліднуть.	Before them shall the people be crushed: every face shall be as the blackness of a caldron.
7	7
Як борці біжать вони і як хоробрі воїни залазять на стіну, і кожен іде своєю дорогою, і не збивається зі шляхів своїх.	As warriors shall they run, and as men of war shall they mount on the walls; and each shall move in his right path, and they shall not turn aside from their tracks:
8	8
Не давлять одне одного, кожен іде своєю стежкою, і падають на списи, але залишаються неушкодженими.	and not one shall stand aloof from his brother: they shall go on weighed down with their arms, and they fall upon their weapons, yet shall they in no wise be destroyed.
9	9
Бігають по місту, піднімаються на стіни, залазять на доми, входять у вікна, як злодії.	They shall seize upon the city, and run upon the walls, and go up upon the houses, and enter in through the windows as thieves.
10	10
Перед ними потрясеться земля, похитнеться небо; сонце і місяць потьмаряться, і зірки втратять своє світло.	Before them the earth shall be confounded, and the sky shall be shaken: the sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.
11	11
І Господь дасть глас Свій перед воїнством Своїм, бо дуже численне полчище Його і могутній виконавець слова Його; бо великий день Господній і дуже страшний, і хто витримає його?	And the Lord shall utter his voice before his host: for his camp is very great: for the execution of his words is mighty: for the day of the Lord is great, very glorious, and who shall be able to resist it?
12	12
Але і нині ще говорить Господь: наверніться до Мене всім серцем своїм у посту, плачу і риданні.	Now therefore, saith the Lord your God, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation:
13	13
Роздирайте серця ваші, а не одяг ваш, і наверніться до Господа Бога вашого; бо Він благий і милосердий, довготерпеливий і многомилостивий і жалкує про біди.	and rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy, and repents of evils.
14	14
Хто знає, чи не змилостивиться Він, і чи не залишить благословення, хлібного приношення й узливання Господу Богу вашому?	Who knows if he will return, and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meat-offering and a drink-offering to the Lord your God?
15	15
Засурміть трубою на Сионі, призначте піст і оголосіть урочисте зібрання.	Sound the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn service:
16	16
Зберіть народ, скличте зібрання, запросіть старців, зберіть отроків і немовлят; нехай вийде наречений з палацу свого і наречена зі своєї світлиці.	gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the infants at the breast: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
17	17
Між притвором і жертовником нехай плачуть священики, служителі Господні, і говорять: «пощади, Господи, народ Твій, не віддай спадщини Твоєї на наругу, щоб не знущалися з нього народи; для чого будуть говорити між народами: де Бог їхній?»	Between the porch and the altar let the priests that minister to the Lord weep, and say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them, lest they should say among the heathen, Where is their God?
18	18
І тоді возревнує Господь за землю Свою, і пощадить народ Свій.	But the Lord was jealous of his land, and spared his people.
19	19
І відповість Господь, і скаже народу Своєму: ось, Я пошлю вам хліб і вино і єлей, і будете насичуватися ними, і більше не віддам вас на наругу народам.	And the Lord answered and said to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied with them: and I will no longer make you a reproach among the Gentiles.
20	20
І того, хто прийшов з півночі, віддалю від вас, і вижену в землю безводну і порожню, переднє полчище його — у море східне, а заднє — у море західне, і піде від нього сморід, і підніметься від нього смердота, оскільки він багато наробив зла.	And I will chase away from you the northern adversary, and will drive him away into a dry land, and I will sink his face in the former sea, and his back parts in the latter sea, and his ill savour shall come up, and his stink shall come up, because he has wrought great things.
21	21
Не бійся, земле: радуйся і веселися, бо Господь великий, щоб зробити це.	Be of good courage, O land; rejoice and be glad: for the Lord has done great things.
22	22
Не бійтеся, тварини, бо пасовища пустелі виростять траву, дерево принесе плід свій, смоковниця і виноградна лоза покажуть свою силу.	Be of good courage, ye beasts of the plain, for the plains of the wilderness have budded, for the trees have borne their fruit, the fig-tree and the vine have yielded their strength.
23	23
І ви, діти Сиону, радійте і веселіться у Господі Бозі вашому; бо Він дасть вам дощ за мірою і буде посилати вам дощ, дощ ранній і пізній, як раніше.	Rejoice then and be glad, ye children of Sion, in the Lord your God: for he has given you food fully, and he will rain on you the early and the latter rain, as before.
24	24
І наповняться токи хлібом, і переповняться підточилля виноградним соком і єлеєм.	And the floors shall be filled with corn, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil.
25	25
І воздам вам за ті роки, коли пожирали сарана, черва, жуки і гусінь велике військо Моє, яке послав Я на вас.	And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, even my great army, which I sent against you.
26	26
І до ситости будете їсти і насичуватися і славити ім’я Господа Бога вашого, Який дивне вчинив з вами, і не осоромиться народ Мій повіки.	And ye shall eat abundantly, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the Lord your God for the things which he has wrought wonderfully with you: and my people shall not be ashamed for ever.
27	27
І пізнаєте, що Я посеред Ізраїля, і Я — Господь Бог ваш, і немає іншого, і Мій народ не осоромиться повіки.	And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and that there is none else beside me; and my people shall no more be ashamed for ever.
28
І буде після того, виллю від Духа Мого на всяку плоть, і будуть пророкувати сини ваші і дочки ваші; старцям вашим будуть снитися сни, і юнаки ваші будуть бачити видіння.
29
І також на рабів і на рабинь у ті дні виллю від Духа Мого.
30
І покажу знамення на небі і на землі: кров і вогонь і стовпи диму.
31
Сонце перетвориться на темряву і місяць — на кров, перш ніж настане день Господній, великий і страшний.
32
І буде: всякий, хто прикличе ім’я Господнє, спасеться; бо на горі Сионі й у Єрусалимі буде спасіння, як сказав Господь, і в інших, яких прикличе Господь.
Глава 3	Chapter 3

1	1
Бо ось, у ті дні й у той самий час, коли Я поверну полон Іуди і Єрусалима,	And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
2	2
Я зберу всі народи, і приведу їх у долину Іосафата, і там учиню над ними суд за народ Мій і за спадщину Мою, Ізраїля, який вони розсіяли між народами, і землю Мою розділили.	And on my servants and on my handmaids in those days will I pour out of my Spirit.
3	3
І щодо народу Мого вони кидали жереб, і віддавали отрока за блудницю, і продавали отроковицю за вино, і пили.	And I will shew wonders in heaven, and upon the earth, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke.
4	4
І що ви Мені, Тире і Сидоне і всі округи филистимські? Чи хочете воздати Мені помсту? чи хочете воздати Мені? Легко і скоро Я поверну помсту вашу на голови ваші,	The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord come.
5	5
тому що ви взяли срібло Моє і золото Моє, і найкращі коштовності Мої внесли у капища ваші,	And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved: for in mount Sion and in Jerusalem shall the saved one be as the Lord has said, and they that have glad tidings preached to them, whom the Lord has called.

і синів Іуди і синів Єрусалима продавали синам еллінів, щоб віддалити їх від меж їхніх.
7
Ось, Я підніму їх з того місця, куди ви продали їх, і поверну винагороду вашу на голову вашу.
8
І віддам синів ваших і дочок ваших у руки синів Іуди, і вони продадуть їх савеям, народу віддаленому; так Господь сказав.
9
Проголосіть про це між народами, приготуйтеся до війни, збудіть хоробрих; нехай виступлять, піднімуться всі ратоборці.
10
Перекуйте орала ваші на мечі і серпи ваші на списи; слабкий нехай говорить: «я сильний».
11
Поспішайте і сходьтесь, усі народи навколишні, і зберіться; туди, Господи, веди Твоїх героїв.
12
Нехай встануть народи і спустяться у долину Іосафата; бо там Я воссяду, щоб судити всі народи звідусюди.
13
Пустіть у діло серпи, бо жниво дозріло; йдіть, спустіться, бо точило повне і підточилля переливаються, тому що злість їхня велика.
14
Натовпи, натовпи у долині суду! бо близько день Господній до долини суду!
15
Сонце і місяць потьмаряться і зірки втратять блиск свій.
16
І прогримить Господь із Сиону, і дасть глас Свій з Єрусалима; здригнуться небо і земля; але Господь буде захистом для народу Свого й обороною для синів Ізраїлевих.
17
Тоді пізнаєте, що Я Господь Бог ваш, Який живе на Сионі, на святій горі Моїй; і буде Єрусалим святинею, і не будуть вже іноплемінники проходити через нього.
18
І буде у той день: гори будуть капати вином і пагорби потечуть молоком, і всі русла юдейські наповняться водою, а з дому Господнього вийде джерело, і буде напоювати долину Ситтим.
19
Єгипет зробиться пустелею й Едом буде безлюдним степом — за те, що вони пригноблювали синів Іудиних і проливали невинну кров у землі їхній.
20
А Іуда буде жити вічно і Єрусалим — у роди родів.
21
Я змию кров їхню, яку ще не змив, і Господь буде жити на Сионі.
