| Так говорить Господь Бог про Едома: звістку почули ми від Господа, і посол посланий оголосити народам: «вставайте, і виступимо проти нього війною!» | The vision of Obdias. Thus saith the Lord God to Idumea; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations. |

| Ось, Я зробив тебе малим між народами, і ти у великій ганьбі. | Arise ye, and let us rise up against her to war. |

| Гордість серця твого звабила тебе; ти живеш у розщелинах скель, на підвищеному місці, і говориш у серці твоєму: «хто скине мене на землю?» | Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou art greatly dishonoured. The pride of thine heart has elated thee, dwelling as thou dost in the holes of the rocks, as one that exalts his habitation, saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground? |

| Але хоч би ти, як орел, піднявся високо і серед зірок улаштував гніздо твоє, то і звідти Я скину тебе, — говорить Господь. | If thou shouldest mount up as the eagle, and if thou shouldest make thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord. |

| Чи не злодії приходили до тебе? чи не нічні грабіжники, що ти так розорений? Але вони украли б стільки, скільки потрібно їм. Якби проникли до тебе оббирачі винограду, то і вони хіба не залишили б кілька ягід? | If thieves came in to thee, or robbers by night, where wouldest thou have been cast away? would they not have stolen just enough for themselves? and if grape-gatherers went in to thee, would they not leave a gleaning? |

| Як обібрано все у Ісава й обшукані тайники його! | How has Esau been searched out, and how have his hidden things been detected? |

| До кордону випровадять тебе всі союзники твої, обдурять тебе, здолають тебе ті, що живуть з тобою у мирі, ті, що їдять хліб твій, завдадуть тобі удару. Немає у ньому сенсу! | They sent thee to thy coasts: all the men of thy covenant have withstood thee; thine allies have prevailed against thee, they have set snares under thee: they have no understanding. |

| Чи не у той день буде це, — говорить Господь, — коли Я знищу мудрих в Едомі і розсудливих на горі Ісава? | In that day, saith the Lord, I will destroy the wise men out of Idumea, and understanding out of the mount of Esau. |
|

| Уражені будуть страхом хоробрі твої, Фемане, щоб усі на горі Ісава знищені були вбивством. | And thy warriors from Thæman shall be dismayed, to the end that man may be cut off from the mount of Esau. |
|

| За утиск брата твого, Якова, покриє тебе сором і ти знищений будеш назавжди. | Because of the slaughter and the sin committed against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. |
|

|
| У той день, коли ти стояв навпроти, у той день, коли чужі вели військо його у полон й іноплемінники ввійшли у ворота його і кидали жереб щодо Єрусалима, ти був як один з них. | From the day that thou stoodest in opposition to him, in the days when foreigners were taking captive his forces, and strangers entered into his gates, and cast lots on Jerusalem, thou also wast as one of them. |

| Не варто було б тобі зловтішно дивитися на день брата твого, на день відчуження його; не варто було б радіти за синів Іуди у день загибелі їхньої і розкривати рот у день біди. | And thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day of strangers; nor shouldest thou have rejoiced against the children of Juda in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have boasted in the day of their affliction. |

| Не варто було б тобі входити у ворота народу Мого в день нещастя його і навіть дивитися на недолю його у день загибелі його, ні торкатися майна його в день біди його, | Neither shouldest thou have gone into the gates of the people in the day of their troubles; nor yet shouldest thou have looked upon their gathering in the day of their destruction, nor shouldest thou have attacked their host in the day of their perishing. |

| ні стояти на перехрестях для убивання тих, що біжать із нього, ні видавати уцілілих з нього у день біди. | Neither shouldest thou have stood at the opening of their passages, to destroy utterly those of them that were escaping; neither shouldest thou have shut up his fugitives in the day of affliction. |

| Бо близький день Господній на всі народи: як ти чинив, так учинено буде і з тобою; воздаяння твоє повернеться на голову твою. | For the day of the Lord is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou hast done, so shall it be done to thee: thy recompense shall be returned on thine own head. |
|

|
| Бо, як ви пили на святій горі Моїй, так усі народи завжди будуть пити, будуть пити, проковтнуть і будуть, ніби їх не було. | For as thou hast drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink wine; they shall drink, and go down, and be as if they were not. |
|

|
| А на горі Сионі буде спасіння, і буде вона святинею; і дім Якова одержить у володіння спадщину свою. | But on mount Sion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be a sanctuary; and the house of Jacob shall take for an inheritance those that took them for an inheritance. |
|

|
| І дім Якова буде вогнем, і дім Йосифа — полум’ям, а дім Ісавів — соломою: запалять його, і знищать його, і нікого не залишиться з дому Ісава: бо Господь сказав це. | And the house of Jacob shall be fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau shall be for stubble; and Israel shall flame forth against them, and shall devour them, and there shall not be a corn-field left to the house of Esau; because the Lord has spoken. |

| І заволодіють ті, які на півдні, горою Ісава, а які у долині, — филистимлянами; і заволодіють полем Єфрема і полем Самарії, а Веніамін заволодіє Галаадом. | And they that dwell in the south shall inherit the mount of Esau, and they in the plain the Philistines: and they shall inherit the mount of Ephraim, and the plain of Samaria, and Benjamin, and the land of Galaad. |

| І переселені з війська синів Ізраїлевих заволодіють землею Ханаанською до Сарепти, а переселені з Єрусалима, які знаходяться у Сефараді, одержать у володіння міста південні. | And this shall be the domain of the captivity of the children of Israel, the land of the Chananites as far as Sarepta; and the captives of Jerusalem shall inherit as far as Ephratha; they shall inherit the cities of the south. |

| І прийдуть спасителі на гору Сион, щоб судити гору Ісава, і буде царство Господа. | And they that escape shall come up from mount Sion, to take vengeance on the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's. |
