| And these are the ordinances which thou shalt set before them. | І ось закони, які ти оголосиш їм: |

| If thou buy a Hebrew servant, six years shall he serve thee, and in the seventh year he shall go forth free for nothing. | якщо купиш раба єврея, нехай він працює [на тебе] шість років, а на сьомий [рік] нехай вийде на волю задарма; |
|

|
| If he should have come in alone, he shall also go forth alone; and if his wife should have gone in together with him, his wife also shall go out. | якщо він прийшов один, нехай один і вийде; а якщо він одружений, нехай вийде з ним і дружина його; |
|

|
| Moreover, if his master give him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters, the wife and the children shall be his master's; and he shall go forth alone. | якщо ж господар його дав йому дружину і вона народила йому синів або дочок, то дружина і діти її нехай залишаться у господаря її, а він вийде один; |

| And if the servant should answer and say, I love my master and wife and children, I will not go away free; | але якщо раб скаже: люблю господаря мого, дружину мою і дітей моїх, не піду на волю, — |

| his master shall bring him to the judgment-seat of God, and then shall he bring him to the door,—to the door-post, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him for ever. | то нехай господар його приведе його перед богами* і поставить його до дверей, або до одвірка, і проколе йому господар його вухо шилом, і він залишиться рабом його повік. |

| And if any one sell his daughter as a domestic, she shall not depart as the maid-servants depart. | Якщо хто продасть дочку свою в рабині, то вона не може вийти, як виходять раби; |

|
| If she be not pleasing to her master, after she has betrothed herself to him, he shall let her go free; but he is not at liberty to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has trifled with her. | якщо вона не угодна господарю своєму і він не обручить її, нехай дозволить викупити її; а чужому народу продати її [господар] не владний, коли сам зневажив її; |

| And if he should have betrothed her to his son, he shall do to her according to the right of daughters. | якщо він обручить її з сином своїм, нехай вчинить з нею за правом дочок; |

|
| And if he take another to himself, he shall not deprive her of necessaries and her apparel, and her companionship with him. | якщо ж іншу візьме за нього, то вона не повинна позбавлятися їжі, одягу і подружнього співжиття; |

| And if he will not do these three things to her, she shall go out free without money. | а якщо він цих трьох речей не зробить для неї, нехай вона відійде задарма, без викупу. |

|
| And if any man smite another and he die, let him be certainly put to death. | Хто вдарить людину так, що вона помре, нехай буде відданий на смерть; |
|

|
| But as for him that did it not willingly, but God delivered him into his hands, I will give thee a place whither the slayer may flee. | але якщо хто не злонавмисно, а Бог попустив йому потрапити під руки його, то Я призначу в тебе місце, куди втекти [убивці]; |

|
| And if any one lie in wait for his neighbour to slay him by craft, and he go for refuge, thou shalt take him from my altar to put him to death. | а якщо хто з наміром умертвить ближнього підступно [і прибіжить до жертовника], то і від жертовника Мого бери його на смерть. |

|
| Whoever smites his father or his mother, let him be certainly put to death. | Хто вдарить батька свого, або свою матір, того слід віддати на смерть. |

|
| He that reviles his father or his mother shall surely die. | Хто украде людину [із синів Ізраїлевих] і [поневоливши її] продасть її, або знайдеться вона в руках у нього, то слід віддати його на смерть. |
|

|
| Whosoever shall steal one of the children of Israel, and prevail over him and sell him, and he be found with him, let him certainly die. | Хто лихословить на батька свого, або свою матір, того слід віддати на смерть. |
|

|
| And if two men revile each other and smite the one the other with a stone or his fist, and he die not, but be laid upon his bed; | Коли сваряться [двоє], і один чоловік вдарить іншого каменем, або кулаком, і той не помре, але зляже в постіль, |

|
| if the man arise and walk abroad on his staff, he that smote him shall be clear; only he shall pay for his loss of time, and for his healing. | то, якщо він устане і буде виходити з дому з допомогою палиці, той, хто вдарив [його] не буде підлягати смерті; тільки нехай заплатить за зупинку в його роботі і дасть на лікування його. |

| And if a man smite his man-servant or his maid-servant, with a rod, and the party die under his hands, he shall be surely punished. | А якщо хто вдарить раба свого, або служницю свою палкою, і вони помруть під рукою його, то він повинен бути покараним; |

|
| But if the servant continue to live a day or two, let not the master be punished; for he is his money. | але якщо вони день або два дні переживуть, то не слід карати його, тому що це його срібло. |
|

|
| And if two men strive and smite a woman with child, and her child be born imperfectly formed, he shall be forced to pay a penalty: as the woman's husband may lay upon him, he shall pay with a valuation. | Коли б’ються люди, й ударять вагітну жінку, і вона викине, але не буде іншої шкоди, то взяти з винного пеню, яку накладе на нього чоловік тієї жінки, і він повинен заплатити її при посередниках; |

| But if it be perfectly formed, he shall give life for life, | а якщо буде пошкодження, то віддай душу за душу, |

| eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, | око за око, зуб за зуб, руку за руку, ногу за ногу, |

|
| burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. | обпалення за обпалення, рану за рану, удар за удар. |

|
| And if one smite the eye of his man-servant, or the eye of his maid-servant, and put it out, he shall let them go free for their eye's sake. | Якщо хто раба свого ударить в око, або служницю свою в око, і пошкодить його, нехай відпустить їх на волю за око; |

|
| And if he should smite out the tooth of his man-servant, or the tooth of his maid-servant, he shall send them away free for their tooth's sake. | і якщо виб’є зуб рабу своєму, або рабі своїй, нехай відпустить їх на волю за зуб. |

| And if a bull gore a man or woman and they die, the bull shall be stoned with stones, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall be clear. | Якщо віл забодає чоловіка або жінку до смерті, то вола побити камінням і м’яса його не їсти; а господар вола не винний; |

| But if the bull should have been given to goring in former time, and men should have told his owner, and he have not removed him, but he should have slain a man or woman, the bull shall be stoned, and his owner shall die also. | але якщо віл був битливим і вчора і третього дня, і господар його був сповіщений про це, не стеріг його, а він убив чоловіка або жінку, то вола побити камінням, і господаря його віддати на смерть; |

| And if a ransom should be imposed on him, he shall pay for the ransom of his soul as much as they shall lay upon him. | якщо на нього буде накладений викуп, нехай дасть за душу свою викуп, який буде накладений на нього. |

|
| And if the bull gore a son or daughter, let them do to him according to this ordinance. | Чи забодає сина, чи забодає дочку, — за цим самим законом чинити з ним. |

| And if the bull gore a man-servant or maid-servant, he shall pay to their master thirty silver didrachms, and the bull shall be stoned. | Якщо віл забодає раба або рабу, то господареві їх заплатити тридцять сиклів срібла, а вола побити камінням. |

|
| And if any one open a pit or dig a cavity in stone, and cover it not, and an ox or an ass fall in there, | Якщо хто розкриє яму, або якщо викопає яму і не закриє її, і впаде в неї віл або осел, |

| the owner of the pit shall make compensation; he shall give money to their owner, and the dead shall be his own. | то господар ями повинен заплатити, віддати срібло господарю їх, а труп буде його. |

|
| And if any man's bull gore the bull of his neighbour, and it die, they shall sell the living bull and divide the money, and they shall divide the dead bull. | Якщо чий-небудь віл забодає до смерті вола в сусіда його, нехай продадуть живого вола і розділять навпіл ціну його; також і убитого нехай розділять навпіл; |

| But if the bull be known to have been given to goring in time past, and they have testified to his owner, and he have not removed him, he shall repay bull for bull, but the dead shall be his own. | а якщо відомо було, що віл битливий і вчора і третього дня, але господар його [бувши сповіщений про це] не стеріг його, то він повинний заплатити вола за вола, а убитий буде його. |

|
| And if one steal an ox or a sheep, and kill it or sell it, he shall pay five calves for a calf, and four sheep for a sheep. |
