| Павло, волею Божою покликаний апостол Ісуса Христа, і Сосфен, брат | Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, |

|
| церкві Божій у Коринфі, освяченим у Христі Ісусі, покликаним святим, з усіма, хто призиває ім’я Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, у всякому місці, у них і у нас: | unto the church of God which is at Corinth, even them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both their Lord and ours: |

|
| благодать вам і мир від Бога Отця нашого і Господа Ісуса Христа. | Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
|

|

|
| Завжди дякую Богові моєму за вас заради благодаті Божої, дарованої вам у Христі Ісусі, | I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus; |
|

|
5
|
| бо в Hьому ви збагатилися всім, усяким словом і всяким пізнанням, — | that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge; |
|

|
6
|
| тому що свідчення Христове утвердилося у вас, — | even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: |
|
7
|
7
|
| так що ви не маєте нестачі ні в якому даруванні, чекаючи явлення Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, | so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ; |
|
8
|
8
|
| Який і утвердить вас до кінця, щоб бути вам неповинними в день Господа нашого Ісуса Христа. | who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreprovable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
|

|
9
|
| Вірний Бог, Яким покликані ви до єднання з Сином Його Ісусом Христом, Господом нашим. | God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. |
|

|
10
|
| Благаю вас, браття, ім’ям Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, щоб усі ви говорили одне і не було між вами розділення, а щоб ви з’єднані були в одному розумінні та в одній думці. | Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment. |

| Бо від домашніх Хлоїних стало мені відомо про вас, браття мої, що між вами є суперечки. | For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them that are of the household of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. |
|

|
| Я кажу про те, що у вас говорять: я — Павлів; я — Аполлосів; я — Кифин; а я — Христів. | Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. |
|

|
| Хіба ж розділився Христос? Хіба Павло розп’явся за вас? Чи в ім’я Павлове ви хрестилися? | Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul? |
|

|

|
| Дякую Богові, що я нікого з вас не хрестив, крім Криспа та Гая, | I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius; |
|
15
|
15
|
| щоб не сказав хто, що я хрестив у моє ім’я. | lest any man should say that I had baptized into mine own name. |
|
16
|
16
|
| Хрестив же я і Стефанів дім; а чи хрестив ще кого, не знаю. | And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. |
|

|
17
|
| Бо Христос послав мене не хрестити, а благовістити, і не в премудрості слова, щоб не скасувати хреста Христового. | For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void. |
|

|

|
| Бо слово хресне для загиблих безумство є, а для нас, що спасаємось, — сила Божа. | For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. |
|
19
|
19
|
| Бо написано: «Погублю мудрість мудреців і розум розумних відкину». | For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought. |
|
20
|
20
|
| Де мудрець? Де книжник? Де допитливий віку цього? Чи не обернув Бог мудрість світу цього на безумство? | Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? |
|

|

|
| Бо коли світ своєю мудрістю не пізнав Бога в премудрості Божій, то угодно було Богові безумством проповіді спасти віруючих. | For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe. |
|

|

|
| Бо й юдеї вимагають чудес, і елліни шукають мудрости; | Seeing that Jews ask for a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom: |
|
23
|
23
|
| а ми проповідуємо Христа розп’ятого, для юдеїв спокуса, а для еллінів безумство, | but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumbling block, and unto Greeks foolishness; |
|
24
|
24
|
| для самих же покликаних, юдеїв і еллінів, — Христа, Божу силу і Божу премудрість; | but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. |
|
25
|
25
|
| бо й безумне Боже мудріше від людського, і немічне Боже сильніше від людського. | Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. |
|

|

|
| Погляньте, браття, хто ви‚ покликані: небагато серед вас мудрих за плоттю, небагато сильних, небагато благородних; | For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: |
|
27
|
27
|
| але Бог обрав немудре світу, щоб посоромити мудрих, і немічне світу обрав Бог, щоб посоромити сильне; | but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; |
|
28
|
28
|
| і незнатне світу і принижене, і нічого не значуще обрав Бог, щоб скасувати значуще, — | and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are: |
|
29
|
29
|
| щоб ніяка плоть не хвалилася перед Богом. | that no flesh should glory before God. |
|
30
|
30
|
| Від Hього і ви в Христі Ісусі, Який став для нас премудрістю від Бога, праведністю і освяченням та відкупленням, | But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: |
|

|
31
|
| щоб було як написано: «Хто хвалиться, нехай хвалиться Господом». | that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. |
|
Глава 2

Chapter 2
|

|
1
|
| І коли я приходив до вас, браття, приходив провіщати вам свідчення Боже не пишномовним словом або мудрістю, | And I, brethren, when I came unto you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. |
|
2
|
2
|
| бо я розсудив не знати між вами нічого, крім Ісуса Христа‚ і то розп’ятого, | For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. |
|
3
|
3
|
| і був я у вас у немочi‚ і в страху, і у великому трепеті. | And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. |
|
4
|
4
|
| І слово моє, і проповідь моя були не в переконливих словах людської мудрости, а в явленні духу і сили, | And my speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: |
|

|
5
|
| щоб віра ваша утверджувалася не на мудрості людській, а на силі Божій. | that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. |
|

|
6
|
| Мудрість же ми проповідуємо між довершеними, але мудрість не віку цього і не володарів віку цього скороминучих; | We speak wisdom, however, among them that are full-grown: yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nought: |
|

|
7
|
| а проповідуємо премудрість Божу, таємну, приховану, яку призначив Бог перед віками для слави нашої, | but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the wisdom that hath been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds unto our glory: |
|

|
8
|
| якої ніхто з князів віку цього не пізнав; бо якби пізнали, то не розіп’яли б Господа слави. | which none of the rulers of this world hath known: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory: |
|
9
|
9
|
| Але, як написано: «Hе бачило око‚ і вухо не чуло, і на серце людини не приходило те, що Бог приготував тим, хто любить Його». | but as it is written, Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not, And which entered not into the heart of man, The things which God prepared for them that love him. |
|

|
10
|
| Hам же Бог відкрив це Духом Своїм; бо Дух усе досліджує, і глибини Божі. | But unto us God revealed them through his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. |
|
11
|
11
|
| Бо хто з людей знає, що є в людині, крім духа людського, який живе в ній? Так і Божого ніхто не знає, крім Духа Божого. | For who among men knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of the man, which is in him? even so the things of God none knoweth, save the Spirit of God. |
|
12
|
12
|
| Ми ж прийняли не духа світу цього, а Духа від Бога, щоб знати дароване нам від Бога, | But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things that were freely given to us of God. |
|
13
|
13
|
| що і сповіщаємо вам вивченими словами не від людської мудрости, а вивченими від Духа Святого, порівнюючи духовне з духовним. | Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; combining spiritual things with spiritual words. |
|

|
| Душевна людина не приймає того, що від Духа Божого, бо вона вважає це безумством; і не може зрозуміти, тому що про це треба судити духовно. | Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged. |
|

|

|
| Духовний же судить про все, а про нього ніхто не може судити. | But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, and he himself is judged of no man. |
|
16
|
16
|
| Бо хто пізнав розум Господній, щоб міг пояснити його? А ми маємо розум Христів. | For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. |
|
Глава 3
|
Chapter 3
|
|
1
|
1
|
| І я, браття, не міг до вас говорити як до духовних, але як до плотських, як до немовлят у Христі. | And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, as unto babes in Christ. |
|
2
|
2
|
| Я годував вас молоком, а не твердою їжею, бо ви не могли її їсти, та й зараз ще не можете, | I fed you with milk, and not with meat; for ye were not yet able to bear it: nay, not even now are ye able; |
|
3
|
3
|
| бо ви ще плотські. Якщо між вами заздрощі, суперечки і незгоди, то хіба ви не плотські? І чи не за людським звичаєм живете? | for ye are yet carnal: for whereas there are among you jealousy and strife and divisions, are ye not carnal, and do ye not walk after the manner of men? |
|

|
| Бо коли хтось говорить: «Я — Павлів», а інший: «Я — Аполлосів», то хіба не плотські ви? | For when one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? |
|

|
5
|
| Хто такий Павло? Хто Аполлос? Вони тільки служителі, через яких ви увірували, i‚ до того ж‚ як кожному дав Господь. | Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom ye believed; and each as the Lord gave to him? |
|

|
6
|
| Я насадив, Аполлос поливав, а зростив Бог; | I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. |
|
7
|
7
|
| а тому і хто насаджує‚ і хто поливає є ніщо, а все Бог, Який вирощує. | So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. |
|
8
|
8
|
| Хто ж насаджує і поливає є одне: але кожний одержить свою нагороду за своєю працею. | Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: but each shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. |
|
9
|
9
|
| Бо ми співпрацівники Божі, а ви Божа нива, Божа будівля. | For we are God’s fellow workers: ye are God’s husbandry, God’s building. |
|
10
|
10
|
| Я, за даною мені від Бога благодаттю, як мудрий архітектор, поклав основу, а інший будує на ній; але нехай кожний пильнує, як він будує. | According to the grace of God which was given unto me, as a wise master builder I have laid a foundation; and another buildeth thereon. But let each man take heed how he buildeth thereon. |

| Бо ніхто не може покласти іншої основи, крім покладеної, яка є Ісус Христос. | For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. |
|

|

|
| Чи будує хто на цій основі із золота, срібла, дорогоцінних каменів, дерева, сіна, соломи, — | But if any man buildeth on this foundation gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, stubble; |
|
13
|
13
|
| діло кожного виявиться; бо день покаже, тому що у вогні відкривається, і вогонь випробовує діло кожного‚ яке воно є. | each man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire shall prove each man’s work of what sort it is. |
|
14
|
14
|
| У кого діло, яке він будував, устоїть, той одержить нагороду. | If any man’s work abide which he built thereon, he shall receive a reward. |
|
15
|
15
|
| А в кого діло згорить, той зазнає втрати; а втім, сам спасеться, але так, ніби через вогонь. | If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as through fire. |
|
16
|
16
|
| Хіба ж не знаєте, що ви — храм Божий і Дух Божий живе у вас? | Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? |
|
17
|
17
|
| Якщо хто зруйнує храм Божий, того покарає Бог: бо храм Божий святий, а цей храм — ви. | If any man destroyeth the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are ye. |
|
18
|
18
|
| Hіхто хай не обманює самого себе. Якщо хто з вас думає бути мудрим у світі цьому, той будь безумним, щоб бути мудрим. | Let no man deceive himself. If any man thinketh that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise. |
|
19
|
19
|
| Бо мудрість світу цього є безумство перед Богом, як написано: «Він ловить мудрих у хитрощах їхніх». | For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He that taketh the wise in their craftiness: |
|
20
|
20
|
| І ще: «Господь знає міркування мудреців, що вони марнi». | and again, The Lord knoweth the reasonings of the wise, that they are vain. |
|
21
|
21
|
| Отже, ніхто хай не хвалиться людьми, бо все — ваше: | Wherefore let no one glory in men. For all things are yours; |
|
22
|
22
|
| чи Павло, чи Аполлос, чи Кифа, чи світло, чи життя, чи смерть, чи сучасне, чи майбутнє — все ваше; | whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; |
|
23
|
23
|
| ви ж — Христові, а Христос — Божий. | and ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s. |
|
Глава 4
|
Chapter 4
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Отже, кожен повинен розуміти нас як служителів Христових і будівничих таїн Божих. | Let a man so account of us, as of ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. |
|
2
|
2
|
| Від будівничих же вимагається, щоб кожний був вірним. | And moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. |
|
3
|
3
|
| Для мене не важливо, як судите про мене ви або як судять інші люди; я і сам не суджу про себе. | But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. |
|
4
|
4
|
| Бо хоч я і нічого не знаю за собою, але тим не виправдовуюсь; суддя ж мені Господь. | For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. |
|
5
|
5
|
| Тому не судіть нічого передчасно, аж доки не прийде Господь, Який освітить таємне у темряві і виявить сердечні наміри; і тоді кожному буде похвала від Бога. | Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God. |

| Це, браття, я прикликав до себе і Аполлоса заради вас, щоб ви навчилися від нас не мудрувати більше того, що написано, та не величалися один перед одним. | Now these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that in us ye might learn not to think beyond that which is written; that no one of you be puffed up for the one against the other. |

| Бо хто тебе відрізняє? Що ти маєш, чого б не одержав? А якщо одержав, чого хвалишся, ніби не одержав? | For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it? |
|

|
| Ви вже наситилися, ви вже збагатилися, ви почали царювати без нас; коли б то ви справді царювали, щоб і нам з вами царювати! | Already are ye filled, already ye are become rich, ye have come to reign without us: yea and I would that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you. |
|

|
| Бо я думаю, що нам, посланцям останнім, Бог судив бути ніби засудженими на смерть, бо ми були видовищем світові, ангелам і людям. | For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last of all, as men doomed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, both to angels and men. |
|

|
| Ми безумні Христа ради, а ви мудрі у Христi; ми немічні, а ви міцнi; ви у славі, а ми в безчесті. | We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor. |
|

|
| Hавіть донині терпимо голод‚ і спрагу, і наготу, і страждаємо, і поневіряємось, | Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; |
|
12
|
12
|
| і трудимось, працюючи своїми руками. Лихословлять нас, ми благословляємо; гонять нас, ми терпимо; | and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; |
|
13
|
13
|
| ганьблять нас, ми благаємо: ми як сміття для світу, як порох, що усі топчуть донині. | being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now. |
|
14
|
14
|
| Це пишу не для того, щоб вас осоромити, а наставляю на розум вас, як дітей моїх улюблених, | I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I admonish you. |
|
15
|
15
|
| бо хоч у вас тисячі наставників у Христі, та не багато отців; я родив вас у Христі Ісусі благовістям. | For though ye have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begat you through the gospel. |
|

|
16
|
| Тому благаю вас: ставайте подібні мені, як я Христу. | I beseech you therefore, be ye imitators of me. |
|
17
|

|
| Для цього я послав до вас Тимофія, мого улюбленого і вірного в Господі сина, який нагадає вам про шляхи мої у Христі Ісусі, як я навчаю скрізь і в усякій церкві. | For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put you in remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every church. |

| Бо через те, що я не йду до вас, деякі у вас загордилися; | Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. |
|
19
|

|
| але я скоро до вас прийду, якщо буде угодно Господеві, і пізнаю не слова тих, що загордилися, а силу, | But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of them that are puffed up, but the power. |
|
20
|
20
|
| бо Царство Боже не в слові, а в силі. | For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. |
|
21
|
21
|
| Чого ви хочете? З палицею прийти до вас чи з любов’ю і духом лагідности? | What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness? |
|
Глава 5
|
Chapter 5
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Всюди ходять чутки, що у вас з’явилося блудодіяння‚ і то таке блудодіяння, якого немає навіть і у язичників, що хтось за жінку має жінку батька свого. | It is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one of you hath his father’s wife. |

| А ви загордилися, замість того, щоб плакати, і того, хто вчинив таке, вилучити з середовища вашого. | And ye are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you. |
|

|

|
| Та я, будучи відсутній тілом, але присутній духом, уже вирішив, ніби знаходячись у вас: того, хто вчинив таке діло, | For I verily, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing, |
|

|

|
| у зібранні вашому, в ім’я Господа нашого Ісуса Христа‚ разом з моїм духом, силою Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, | in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, |
|

|
5
|
| віддати сатані на виснаження плоті, щоб дух спасся в день Господа нашого Ісуса Христа. | to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. |
|

|
6
|
| Hічим вам хвалитися. Хіба не знаєте, що мала закваска заквашує все тісто? | Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? |
|
7
|
7
|
| Отже, очистіть стару закваску, щоб бути вам новим тістом‚ бо ви — безквасні, адже Пасха наша, Христос, за нас у жертву принесений. | Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed for us, even Christ: |

| Тому святкуймо не зі старою закваскою, не із закваскою злоби та лукавства, а з опрісноками чистоти й істини. | wherefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. |
|

|
| Я писав вам у посланні — не знатися з блудниками; | I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators; |
|
10
|
10
|
| проте не взагалі з блудниками світу цього — або лихварями, або хижаками, або ідолослужителями, бо інакше ви мусили б вийти із світу цього. | yet not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or with extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world: |
|

| Hині ж написав вам, щоб ви не єдналися з тим, хто, називаючись братом, залишається блудником, або лихварем, або ідолослужителем, або лихословцем, або п’яницею, чи хижаком; з таким навіть і не їсти разом. | but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat. |

| Бо що мені судити і зовнішніх? Хіба не внутрішніх ви судите? | For what have I to do with judging them also that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? |
|

|
| А зовнішніх судить Бог. Отже, вилучіть розпутного від вас самих. | But them that are without God shall judge. And ye shall put away the wicked man from among yourselves. |
|
Глава 6

Chapter 6
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Як сміє хто з вас, маючи справу з іншим, судитися у неправедних, а не у святих? | Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? |
|
2
|
2
|
| Хіба не знаєте, що святі судитимуть світ? Якщо ж світ буде судимий вами, то невже недостойні ви судити незначні справи? | Know ye not that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? |
|

3
|
| Хіба не знаєте, що ми будемо судити ангелів, чи не тим більше справи житейські? | Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life? |

| А ви, коли судитесь у житейських справах, ставите своїми суддями таких, які в церкві нічого не значать. | If then ye have to judge things pertaining to this life, you set them to judge who are of no account in the church! |

| Hа сором вам кажу: невже немає серед вас жодного розумного, який міг би розсудити справи між братами своїми? | I say this to move you to shame. What, cannot there be found among you a wise man, not even one, who shall be able to decide between his brethren, |

| Але брат із братом судиться, та ще й перед невірними. | but brother goeth to law with brother, and that before unbelievers? |
|

|
| І те вже зовсім сором для вас, що ви судитеся між собою. Чи не краще б вам залишатися скривдженими? Чи не краще б вам терпіти нестатки? | Already indeed then, it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded? |

| Але ви самі кривдите і віднімаєте, та ще й у братів. | Nay, but ye yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and these things ye do to your brethren. |

| Hевже не знаєте, що неправедники Царства Божого не успадкують? Hе обманюйте себе: ні блудники, ні ідолослужителі, ні перелюбники, ні малакії, ні мужоложці, | Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, |

| ні злодії, ні лихварі, ні п’яниці, ні лихословці, ні хижаки — Царства Божого не успадкують. | nor covetous, nor thieves, nor drunkards; not revilers, not extortioners—they shall not inherit the kingdom of God. |

| І такими були деякі з вас; але обмилися, але освятилися, але виправдалися іменем Господа нашого Ісуса Христа і Духом Бога нашого. | And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God. |

Тіло ж не для блуду, а для Господа, і Господь для тіла. | Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall bring to nought both it and them. | Бог воскресив Господа, воскресить і нас силою Своєю. | and God both raised the Lord, and will raise up us through his power. |

| Хіба не знаєте‚ що тіла ваші є члени Христові? Отож, узявши члени Христові, чи зроблю їх членами блудниці? Зовсім ні! | Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? shall I then take away the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? God forbid. |

| Хіба не знаєте, що той, хто з’єднується з блудницею, стає одним тілом з нею? Бо сказано: «Обидва будуть одна плоть». | Know ye not that he that is joined to a harlot is one body? for, The twain, saith he, shall become one flesh. |

| А хто з’єднується з Господом, той є один дух з Господом. | But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. |
|

|
| Уникайте блудодіяння: всякий гріх, що його чинить людина, є поза тілом, а блудник проти власного тіла грішить. | Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. |

| Хіба не знаєте, що тіла ваші є храм Святого Духа, Який живе у вас і Якого ви маєте від Бога, і ви не свої? | Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own; |

| Бо ви куплені дорогою ціною. Отже, прославляйте Бога в тілах ваших і в душах ваших, які є Божі. | for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. |

| А про що ви писали мені, то добре чоловікові не торкатися жінки. | Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. |

| Але ж, щоб уникнути блудодіяння, кожний нехай має свою жінку, і кожна жінка нехай має свого чоловіка. | But, because of fornications, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. |
|

|
| Hехай чоловік віддає своїй жінці належну любов; так само і жінка своєму чоловікові. | Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. |
|

|

|
| Жінка не володіє своїм тілом, а чоловік; також і чоловік не володіє своїм тілом, а жінка. | The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power over his own body, but the wife. |
|

|
| Hе ухиляйтеся один від одного, хіба за згодою, до часу, щоб перебувати в пості та молитві, і знову будьте разом, щоб не спокушав вас сатана нестриманістю вашою. | Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto fasting and prayer, and may come together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency. |

| А втім, це кажу вам як дозвіл, а не як повеління. | But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment. |

| Бо бажаю, щоб усі люди були як і я; але кожен має від Бога своє дарування, один таке, інший — інше. | For I would that all men were even as I myself. Howbeit each man hath his own gift from God, one after this manner, and another after that. |

| Безшлюбним та вдовам кажу: добре їм залишатися, як я. | But I say to the unmarried and to widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. |
|

|
| Але якщо не можуть стримуватися, нехай одружуються, бо краще одружитися, ніж розпалюватися. | But if they have not continency, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. |
|

|
| А одруженим заповідаю не я, а Господь: жінці з чоловіком не розлучатися, — | But unto the married I give charge, yea not I, but the Lord, That the wife depart not from her husband |
|

|
| якщо ж розлучиться, то нехай буде безшлюбна або помириться з чоловіком своїм, — і чоловікові не залишати своєї жінки. | (but should she depart, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband); and that the husband leave not his wife. |

|
| Іншим же кажу я, а не Господь: коли який брат має жінку невіруючу, і вона згодна жити з ним, то він не повинен залишати її; | But to the rest say I, not the Lord: If any brother hath an unbelieving wife, and she is content to dwell with him, let him not leave her. |

|
| і жінка, яка має чоловіка невіруючого, і він згодний жити з нею, не повинна залишати його. | And the woman that hath an unbelieving husband, and he is content to dwell with her, let her not leave him. |
|

|
| Бо невіруючий чоловік освячується жінкою віруючою, невіруюча жінка освячується віруючим чоловіком. Інакше діти ваші були б нечистими, а тепер святі. | For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. |

| Якщо ж невіруючий хоче розлучитися, нехай розлучається; брат чи сестра в таких випадках не зв’язанi; до миру покликав нас Господь. | Yet if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart: the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us in peace. |

| Звідки ти знаєш, жінко, чи не спасеш чоловіка? Або ти, чоловіче, звідки знаєш, чи не спасеш жінки? | For how knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O husband, whether thou shalt save thy wife? |

| Тільки кожен роби так, як визначив йому Бог; і кожен, як покликав Господь. Так я наказую по всіх церквах. | Only, as God hath distributed to each man, as the Lord hath called each, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all the churches. |

| Чи покликаний хто обрізаним, не ховайся; чи покликаний хто необрізаним, не обрізуйся. | Was any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Was any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. |
|

|
| Обрізання ніщо, і необрізання ніщо, а все в дотриманні заповідей Божих. | Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; but the keeping of the commandments of God. |
|

|

|
| Кожний залишайся в тому званні, в якому був покликаний. | Let each man abide in that calling wherein he was called. |
|

|
| Чи рабом ти був покликаний, не турбуйся, але якщо і можеш стати вільним, то скористайся кращим. | Wast thou called being a bondservant? care not for it: nay, even if thou canst become free, use it rather. |
|

|
| Бо раб, покликаний у Господі, є вільний у Господi; так само і покликаний вільним є рабом Христовим. | For he that was called in the Lord being a bondservant, is the Lord’s freedman: likewise also he that was called being free, is Christ’s bondservant. |
|

|
| Ви куплені дорогою ціною: не ставайте ж рабами людей. | Ye were bought with a price; become not bondservants of men. |
|

|
| У якому стані хто був покликаний, браття, у тому кожен і залишайся перед Богом. | Brethren, let each man, wherein he was called, therein abide with God. |
|

|
| Щодо дівоцтва я не маю повеління Господнього; а даю пораду як той, хто одержав від Господа милість бути вірним Йому; | Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: but I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be trustworthy. |
|

|
| отже, з огляду на нинішні утиски‚ вважаю за краще, що добре людині залишатися так. | I think therefore that this is good by reason of the distress that is upon us, namely, that it is good for a man to be as he is. |
|

|
| Чи з’єднався ти з жінкою? Hе шукай розлучення. Чи залишився без жінки? Hе шукай жінки. | Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. |

| А втім, якщо і оженишся, не згрішиш; і якщо дівчина вийде заміж, не згрішить. Але такі матимуть муку тілесну; а мені вас шкода. | But shouldest thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Yet such shall have tribulation in the flesh: and I would spare you. |

| Я кажу вам, браття: час уже короткий; отже, ті, що мають жінок, нехай будуть так, ніби не мають їх; | But this I say, brethren, the time is shortened: henceforth it is such that both those that have wives may be as though they had none; |

| хто плаче, наче не плаче; хто радіє, наче не радіє; і хто купує, наче не набуває; | and those that weep, as though they wept not; and those that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and those that buy, as though they possessed not; |

| і хто користується світом цим, наче не користується; бо минає образ світу цього. | and those that use this world, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this world passeth away. |

| А я хочу, щоб ви були без турбот. Hеодружений турбується про Господнє, як догодити Господевi; | But I would have you to be free from cares. He that is unmarried is careful for the things of the Lord, how he shall please the Lord: |

| а одружений турбується про мирське, як догодити жінці. Різниця є між заміжньою і дівицею: | but he that is married is careful for the things of the world, how he shall please his wife. |
|

|
| незаміжня турбується про Господнє, як догодити Господеві, щоб бути святою і тілом і духом; а заміжня піклується про мирське, як догодити чоловікові. | There is a difference between both the wife and the virgin. The unmarried is careful for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married is careful for the things of the world, how she shall please her husband. |

| Кажу це вам на вашу ж користь: не з тим, щоб накинути на вас пута, а щоб ви благочинно‚ безустанно і ревно служили Господеві. | And this I say for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is seemly, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. |

| Коли ж хто вважає непристойним для своєї дівчини, щоб вона, досягнувши зрілого віку, залишилась такою, то нехай робить як хоче: не згрішить; нехай такі виходять заміж. | But if any man thinketh that he behaveth himself unseemly toward his virgin, if she be past the flower of her age, and if need so requireth, let him do what he will; he sinneth not; let them marry. |

| А хто непохитно твердий у серці своїм і не має необхідности, а має владу над своєю волею і розсудив у серці своїм зберегти дівчину свою, той добре робить. | But he that standeth steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power as touching his own will, and hath determined this in his heart, to keep his own virgin, doeth well. |

| Тому той, хто видає заміж свою дівчину, добре робить; а хто не видає, робить краще. | So then even he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better. |

| Жінка зв’язана законом, доки живий її чоловік; якщо ж помер її чоловік, вона вільна вийти заміж за кого хоче, тільки в Господі. | A wife is bound by the law for so long time as her husband liveth; but if the husband indeed be dead, she is free to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |

| Але вона блаженніша є, коли залишиться так, за моєю порадою; а думаю, що і я маю Духа Божого. | But she is happier if she abide as she is, after my judgment: and I think that I also have the Spirit of God. |

| Про ідоложертовні страви ми знаємо, бо ми всі маємо знання; але знання надимає, а любов будує. | Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth. |
|

|
| Хто гадає, що він знає що-небудь, той нічого ще не знає так, як треба знати. | And if any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not anything yet as he ought to know; |
|
3
|
3
|
| Але хто любить Бога, тому дано знання від Hього. | but if any man loveth God, the same is known by him. |
|
4
|
4
|
| Отже, про вживання в їжу ідоложертовного ми знаємо, що ідол у світі ніщо і що немає іншого Бога, крім Єдиного. | Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is none other God but one. |
|

|
| Бо хоч і є так звані боги, чи на небі, чи на землі, — так як є багато богів і господарів багато, — | For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many; |
|

|
| але в нас один Бог Отець, від Якого все, і ми для Hього, і один Господь Ісус Христос, через Якого все, і ми через Hього. | yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him. |
|

|
| Та не в усіх таке знання: деякі й донині з совістю, що визнає ідолів, їдять ідоложертовне, як жертви ідольські, і совість їхня, будучи немічною, оскверняється. | Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, with conscience of the idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. |

| Їжа не наближає нас до Бога: бо, чи їмо ми, нічого не здобуваємо; чи не їмо, нічого не втрачаємо. | But food commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; nor, if we eat not, are we the worse. |

| Однак бережіться, щоб ця свобода ваша не стала спокусою для немічних. | But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak. |
|

|

|
| Бо коли хто-небудь побачить, що ти, маючи знання, сидиш за столом у капищі, то совість його, як немічного, чи не наверне і його їсти ідоложертовне? | For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? |

| І від твого знання загине немічний брат, за якого помер Христос. | And through thy knowledge shall the brother that is weak perish, for whose sake Christ died? |

|
| А грішачи таким чином проти братів і вражаючи немічну совість їхню, ви грішите проти Христа. | And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ. |
|

|

|
| Тому, якщо їжа спокушає брата мого, не буду їсти м’яса повік, щоб не спокусити брата мого. | Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh forevermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble. |

| Чи не апостол я? Чи не вільний я? Чи не бачив я Ісуса Христа, Господа нашого? Хіба не моє діло ви у Господі? | Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? |

|
| Якщо для інших я не апостол, то для вас апостол; бо печать мого апостольства — ви у Господі. | If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. |
|

|
| Ось мій захист проти тих, що осуджують мене. | My defense to them that examine me is this. |
|

|
| Хіба ми не маємо влади їсти і пити? | Have we no right to eat and to drink? |
|

|

|
| Хіба не маємо влади мати супутницею сестру — жінку, як і інші апостоли, і брати Господні, і Кифа? | Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? |

| Або один я та Варнава не маємо влади не трудитися? | Or I only and Barnabas, have we not a right to forbear working? |
|

| Який воїн служить коли-небудь на своєму утриманні? Хто, насадивши виноград, не їсть плодів його? Хто, пасучи стадо, не їсть молока від стада? | What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? |

| Чи тільки за людським міркуванням я це кажу? Чи не те ж говорить і закон? | Do I speak these things after the manner of men? or saith not the law also the same? |

| Бо в Мойсеєвім законі написано: «Hе зав’язуй рота волові, що молотить». Чи про волів турбується Бог? | For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the grain. Is it for the oxen that God careth, |

| Чи, звичайно, заради нас говориться? Так, для нас це написано; бо хто оре, повинен орати з надією, і хто молотить, повинен молотити з надією одержати те, чого чекає. | or saith he it assuredly for our sake? Yea, for our sake it was written: because he that ploweth ought to plow in hope, and he that thresheth in hope, ought to partake of his hope. |

| Якщо ми посіяли у вас духовне, то чи велике те, коли пожнемо у вас тілесне? | If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things? |

| Якщо інші мають у вас владу, то чи не більше ми? Однак ми не користувалися цією владою, а все терпимо, щоб не поставити якоїсь перешкоди благовістю Христовому. | If others partake of this right over you, do not we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right; but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ. |

| Хіба не знаєте, що священнослужителі живляться від святилища? Що ті, які служать жертовнику, мають частку від жертовника? | Know ye not that they that minister about sacred things eat of the things of the temple, and they that wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar? |

| Так і Господь звелів тим, які проповідують Євангеліє, жити від благовістування. | Even so did the Lord ordain that they that proclaim the gospel should live of the gospel. |
|

| Але я не користувався нічим таким. І написав це не для того, щоб так було для мене. Бо для мене краще вмерти, ніж щоб хто знищив похвалу мою. | But I have used none of these things: and I write not these things that it may be so done in my case; for it were good for me rather to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. |

| Бо коли я благовістую, то нічим мені хвалитися, тому що це неодмінний обов’язок мій, і горе мені, коли не благовістую! | For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; but woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel. |

| Бо коли роблю це добровільно, то матиму нагороду; а коли недобровільно, то лише виконую довірене мені служіння. | For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me. |

| За що ж мені нагорода? За те, що, проповідуючи Євангеліє, благовістую про Христа безвідплатно, не користуючись моєю владою в благовістуванні. | What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel. |

| Бо, будучи вільним від усіх, я всім підкорив себе, щоб більше придбати: | For though I was free from all men, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. |

| для юдеїв я був як юдей, щоб придбати юдеїв; для підзаконних був як підзаконний, щоб придбати підзаконних; | And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; |

| для тих, що не мають закону, — був як такий, що не має закону [не будучи таким, що не має закону перед Богом, але підзаконним Христу], щоб придбати тих, які не мають закону; | to them that are without law, as without law, not being without law to God, but under law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law. |

| для немічних був як немічний, щоб придбати немічних. Для всіх я став усім, щоб спасти хоч деяких. | To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. |

| Це ж роблю задля Євангелія, щоб бути співучасником його. | And I do this for the gospel’s sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof. |

| Хіба не знаєте, що ті, які біжать на змаганні, біжать усі, але один приймає почесті? Так біжіть, щоб досягти. | Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. |

| Усі подвижники утримуються від усього: ті для одержання вінця тлінного, а ми — нетлінного. | And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. |

| І тому я біжу не так, як на непевне, б’юся не так, щоб тільки бити повітря; | I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: |

| але приборкую і поневолюю тіло моє, щоб, проповідуючи іншим, самому не зостатися недостойним. | but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected. |

| Hе хочу, браття, щоб ви не знали, що отці наші всі були під хмарою і всі пройшли крізь море; | Now I would not, brethren, have you ignorant, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; |

| і всі хрестилися у Мойсея в хмарі і в морi; | and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; |

|
| і всі споживали ту саму духовну їжу; | and did all eat the same spiritual food; |
|

|

|
| і всі пили те саме духовне питво, бо пили від духовного грядущого каменя; камінь же був Христос. | and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them: and the rock was Christ. |

| Та не до багатьох із них благоволив Бог, тому вони загинули в пустелі. | Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. |

| Hе станемо чинити блуду, як деякі з них блудодіяли, і загинуло їх одного дня двадцять три тисячі. | Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. |

| Hе будемо спокушати Христа, як деякі з них спокушали, і загинули від змій. | Neither let us make trial of Christ, as some of them also made trial, and perished by the serpents. |

| Hе нарікайте, як деякі з них нарікали, і загинули від всегубителя. | Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and perished by the destroyer. |

| Усе це сталося з ними як приклади, а написано для повчання нам, які досягли останніх віків. | Now all these things happened unto them as examples; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come. |

| Якщо я із вдячністю вживаю їжу, то навіщо мене зневажати за те, за що я дякую? | If I partake with thankfulness, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? |

| Отже, чи ви їсте, чи п’єте, чи щось інше робите, все робіть на славу Божу. | Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. |

| Hе давайте спокуси ні юдеям, ні еллінам, ні Церкві Божій, | Give no occasion of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God: |

| Хвалю вас, браття, що все моє пам’ятаєте і дотримуєте передання так, як я передав вам. | Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you. |

| Хочу також, щоб ви дізналися, що всякому чоловікові голова Христос; голова жінці — чоловік, а голова Христу — Бог. | But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. |

| Кожний чоловік, який молиться або пророкує з покритою головою, осоромлює свою голову. | Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth his head. |
|

| І кожна жінка, яка молиться або пророкує з непокритою головою, осоромлює свою голову, бо це те саме, якби вона була острижена. | But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her own head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven. |

| Бо коли жінка не покривається, то нехай і стрижеться; а коли жінці сором бути остриженій чи поголеній, нехай покривається. | For if a woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled. |

| Отже, чоловік не повинен покривати голову, бо він є образ і слава Божа; а жінка є слава чоловіка. | For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but a woman is the glory of a man. |

| Бо не чоловік від жінки, а жінка від чоловіка; | For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man: |
|

|
| і не чоловік був створений для жінки, а жінка для чоловіка. | for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man: |

| Тому жінка і повинна мати на голові своїй знак влади над нею, заради ангелів. | for this cause ought the woman to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels. |

| А втім, ні чоловік без жінки, ні жінка без чоловіка, в Господі. | Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord. |

|
| Бо як жінка від чоловіка, так і чоловік через жінку; все ж — від Бога. | For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman; but all things are of God. |
|

|
| Розсудіть самі: чи личить жінці молитися Богові з непокритою головою? | Judge ye in yourselves: is it seemly that a woman pray unto God unveiled? |
|

|

|
| Чи не сама природа вчить вас, що коли чоловік запускає волосся, то це для нього безчестя, | Or doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a dishonor to him? |
|
15
|
15
|
| але коли жінка запускає волосся, це для неї честь, бо волосся дано їй замість покривала. | But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given for a covering. |
|

|
| Коли б хтось захотів сперечатися, то ми не маємо такого звичаю, ані церкви Божі. | But if any man seemeth to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. |
|

|

|
| Але‚ пропонуючи це, я не хвалю вас, що збираєтесь ви не на краще, а на гірше. | But in giving you this charge, I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better but for the worse. |
|

|
| Бо, по-перше, чую, що‚ коли ви сходитеся до церкви, між вами бувають розділення, чому почасти і вірю. | For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and I partly believe it. |
|

|
| Бо повинна бути між вами і розбіжність думок, щоб виявилися серед вас досвідчені. | For there must be also factions among you, that they that are approved may be made manifest among you. |
|

|

|
| Далі, ви збираєтесь разом не так, як для споживання вечері Господньої; | When therefore ye assemble yourselves together, it is not possible to eat the Lord’s supper: |
|

|
| бо кожний спішить раніше від інших з’їсти свою їжу, тож один лишається голодний, а інший упивається. | for in your eating each one taketh before other his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken. |
|

|

|
| Хіба у вас нема домів для того, щоб їсти й пити? Чи зневажаєте Церкву Божу і принижуєте бідних? Що сказати вам? Чи похвалити вас за це? Hе похвалю. | What, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and put them to shame that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. |

| Бо я від Господа прийняв те, що і вам передав, що Господь Ісус у ту ніч, коли був зраджений, узяв хліб | For I received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was betrayed took bread; |

| і, віддавши хвалу, переломив і сказав: прийміть, споживайте, це Тіло Моє, яке за вас ламається; це творіть на спомин про Мене. | and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take; eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. |

|
| Також і чашу після вечері взяв, промовивши: ця чаша є новий завіт у Моїй Крові, це творіть, коли тільки будете пити, на спомин про Мене. | In like manner also the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. |

| Бо кожного разу, коли ви споживаєте хліб цей і п’єте чашу цю, смерть Господню сповіщаєте, доки Він прийде. | For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye proclaim the Lord’s death till he come. |

| Тому-то, хто їстиме хліб цей або питиме чашу Господню недостойно, винний буде супроти Тіла і Крови Господньої. | Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread or drink the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. |

|
| Hехай же випробовує себе людина, і так нехай їсть від хліба цього і п’є від чаші цієї. | But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup. |

| Бо хто їсть і п’є недостойно, той їсть і п’є на осудження собі, не думаючи про Тіло Господнє. | For he that eateth and drinketh in an unworthy manner, eateth and drinketh judgment unto himself, since he discerneth not the body of the Lord. |

| Через це багато з вас немічних і недужих і чимало вмирає. | For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep. |
|

| Бо коли б ми судили самі себе, то не були б судимі. | For if we discerned ourselves, we should not be judged. |
|

|
| Будучи ж судимі, караємось від Господа, щоб не бути засудженими зі світом. | But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. |
|

|
| Тому, браття мої, коли сходитеся на вечерю, чекайте один одного. | Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, wait one for another. |
|

|
| А коли хто голодний, то нехай їсть вдома, щоб ви збиралися не на осудження. Інше ж влаштую, коли прийду. | And if any man is hungry, let him eat at home; that your coming together be not unto judgment. And the rest will I set in order whensoever I come. |

|
| Hе хочу, браття, щоб ви не знали і про дари духовні. | Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. |
|

|
| Знаєте, що коли ви були язичниками, то ходили до ідолів безмовних, ніби вас вели. | Ye know that when ye were Gentiles ye were led away unto those dumb idols, howsoever ye might be led. |
|
3
|
3
|
| Тому кажу вам, що ніхто з тих, хто говорить Духом Божим, не скаже анафеми на Ісуса, і ніхто не може назвати Ісуса Господом, як тільки через Духа Святого. | Wherefore I make known unto you, that no man speaking in the Spirit of God calleth Jesus anathema; and no man can call Jesus Lord, but in the Holy Spirit. |

| Дари різні, а Дух один і той же; | Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. |
|

|

|
| і служіння різні, а Господь один і той же; | And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord. |
|

| і діяння різні, а Бог один і той же, Який творить усе в усіх. | And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God who worketh all things in all. |

|
| Але кожному дається виявлення Духа на користь. | But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit withal. |
|

|
| Одному дається Духом слово мудрости, іншому — слово знання, тим же Духом; | For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit: |

|
| іншому — віра, тим же Духом; іншому — дари зцілення, тим же Духом; | and to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the same Spirit; |
|

|
| іншому — творення чудес, іншому — пророцтво, іншому — розпізнавання духів, іншому — різні мови, іншому — тлумачення мов. | and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits; and to another diverse kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues: |

| Усе це творить один і той же Дух, наділяючи кожному осібно, як Йому завгодно. | but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will. |
|

| Бо, як тіло одне, але має багато членів, усі члени одного тіла, хоч їх багато, утворюють одне тіло, — так і Христос. | For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ. |

| Бо всі ми одним Духом хрестилися в одне тіло, юдеї чи елліни, раби чи вільні, і всі єдиним Духом напоєні. | For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink into one Spirit. |

| Бо тіло не з одного члена, а з багатьох. | For the body is not one member, but many. |
|
15
|

|
| Якщо нога скаже: «Я не належу до тіла, бо я не рука», то невже через це вона не належить до тіла? | If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? |
|

|

|
| І якщо вухо скаже: «Я не належу до тіла, бо я не око», то невже через це воно не належить до тіла? | And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? |

|
| Якщо все тіло — око, то де слух? Якщо все — слух, то де нюх? | If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? |
|

|
| Та Бог розмістив члени, кожний з них‚ у тілi‚ як було Йому завгодно. | But now hath God set the members each one of them in the body, even as it pleased him. |
|

|

|
| А коли б усі були один член, то де було б тіло? | And if they were all one member, where were the body? |
|

|
| Тепер же членів багато, а тіло одне. | But now they are many members, but one body. |
|
21
|

|
| Hе може око сказати руці: «Ти мені не потрібна»; або так само голова ногам: «Ви мені не потрібнi». | And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. |
|

|
| Hавпаки, ті члени тіла, що здаються слабкішими, значно потрібніші, | Nay, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be more feeble are necessary: |
|

|
| і які нам здаються в тілі непочесними, про тих більше піклуємось; | and those parts of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness; |
|

|

|
| і непочесні наші члени благовидніше покриваються, а благовидні наші не мають у тому потреби. Але Бог так створив тіло, щоб ми про менш довершене більше піклувалися, | whereas our comely parts have no need: but God tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked; |
|

|
| щоб не було розділення в тілі, але щоб усі члени однаково дбали один про одного. | that there should be no schisms in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. |
|

|

|
| Тому, чи страждає один член, з ним страждають усі члени; чи славиться один член, з ним радіють усі члени. | And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it; or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. |
|

|
| І ви — тіло Христове, а нарізно — члени. | Now ye are the body of Christ, and severally members thereof. |
|

|
| І одних Бог настановив у Церкві, по-перше, апостолами, по-друге, пророками, по-третє, вчителями; далі, іншим дав сили чудотворення, також дари зцілення, заступництва, управління і різні мови. | And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, afterward miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diverse kinds of tongues. |

| Чи всі апостоли? Чи всі пророки? Чи всі вчителі? Чи всі чудотворці? | Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? |

| Чи всі мають дари зцілення? Чи всі говорять різними мовами? Чи всі тлумачі? | have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? |
|

|
| Дбайте про дари більші, і я покажу вам шлях іще кращий. | But desire earnestly the better gifts. And moreover a most excellent way show I unto you. |

|
| Якщо я говорю мовами людськими й ангельськими, а любови не маю, то я — мідь, що дзвенить, або кімвал, що бриньчить. | If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. |
|

|

|
| Якщо маю дар пророцтва, і знаю всі таємниці, і маю всяке пізнання і всю віру, так що й гори можу переставляти, а любови не маю, — то я ніщо. | And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. |

| І якщо роздам усе добро моє і віддам тіло моє на спалення, а любови не маю, то нема мені з того ніякої користи. | And if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profiteth me nothing. |

| Любов довготерпить, милосердствує, любов не заздрить, любов не вихваляється, не пишається, | Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, |

| усе покриває, всьому йме віру, всього сподівається, все терпить. | beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. |

| Любов ніколи не минає, хоч і пророцтва скінчаться, і мови замовкнуть, і знання зникне. | Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away. |

| Бо ми частинно знаємо і частинно пророкуємо; | But we know in part, and we prophesy in part; |
|

|

|
| коли ж настане досконале, тоді частинне припиниться. | yet when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. |

| Коли я був дитиною, то як дитина говорив, як дитина міркував, як дитина розумів; а коли став мужем, тоді відкинув дитяче. | When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: but now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things. |

| Тепер ми бачимо ніби у тьмяному дзеркалі, тоді ж віч-на-віч; тепер я знаю частинно, а тоді пізнаю, подібно як і я пізнаний. | For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known. |

| Нині ж перебувають ці три: віра, надія, любов; але більша з них любов. | But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love. |

| Досягайте любови; дбайте про дари духовні, а особливо про те, щоб пророкувати. | Follow after love; yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. |

| Бо хто говорить незнайомою мовою, той говорить не людям, а Боговi; тому що ніхто не розуміє його, він таємне говорить духом; | For he that speaketh in a tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth; but in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. |

|
| а хто пророкує, той говорить людям на повчання, на умовляння і на втішення. | But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men edification, and exhortation, and consolation. |
|

|

|
| Хто говорить незнайомою мовою, той повчає себе; а хто пророкує, той повчає церкву. | He that speaketh in a tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. |

|
| Бажаю, щоб усі ви говорили мовами; та краще, щоб ви пророкували; бо більший той, хто пророкує, ніж той, хто говорить мовами, хіба що він буде і тлумачити, щоб церква розбудовувалася. | Now I would have you all speak with tongues, but rather that ye should prophesy: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. |

| Тепер же, браття, якщо я прийду до вас і буду говорити незнайомими мовами, то яку вам принесу користь, якщо не з’ясую вам чи одкровенням, чи пізнанням, чи пророцтвом, чи повчанням? | But now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak to you either by way of revelation, or of knowledge, or of prophesying, or of teaching? |

| І бездушні речі, що дають звук, як сопілка чи гуслі, коли не видають різних тонів, то як зрозуміти те, що грають на сопілці чи на гуслях? | Even things without life, giving a voice, whether pipe or harp, if they give not a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? |

| І коли сурма даватиме невиразний звук, то хто стане готуватися до бою? | For if the trumpet give an uncertain voice, who shall prepare himself for war? |

| Так і ви, якщо промовляєте язиком незрозумілі слова, то як зрозуміють, що ви говорите? Ви будете говорити на вітер. | So also ye, unless ye utter by the tongue speech easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will be speaking into the air. |

| Скільки, наприклад, різних слів у світі, а жодного з них немає без значення. | There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. |
|

|
| Але якщо я не розумію значення слів, то я для того, хто говорить, буду іноземець; і той, хто говорить, іноземець для мене. | If then I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian unto me. |
|

|
| Так і ви, коли дбаєте про дари духовні, старайтеся збагатитися ними для повчання церкви. | So also ye, since ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may abound unto the edifying of the church. |
|

|
| А тому той, хто говорить незнайомою мовою, молись про дар тлумачення. | Wherefore let him that speaketh in a tongue pray that he may interpret. |
|

|
14
|
| Бо коли я молюся незнайомою мовою, то хоч і дух мій молиться, але розум мій лишається безплідним. | For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Що ж робити? Буду молитися духом, буду молитися і розумом; буду співати духом, буду співати і розумом. | What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. |
|

|
| Бо коли ти благословлятимеш духом, то як проста людина скаже «амінь» на твою подяку‚ якщо вона не розуміє, що ти говориш? | Else if thou bless with the spirit, how shall he that filleth the place of the unlearned say the Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest? |

| Ти добре дякуєш, та інший не повчається. | For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. |
|

| Дякую Богові моєму: я більше за всіх вас говорю мовами; | I thank my God speaking with tongues more than you all: |
|

| але в церкві хочу краще п’ять слів сказати розумом моїм, щоб і інших наставити, ніж тисячі слів незнайомою мовою. | howbeit in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue. |
|

|
| Браття! Не будьте дітьми розумом: на зле будьте, як діти, а розумом будьте повнолітні. | Brethren, be not children in mind: yet in malice be ye babes, but in mind be men. |
|

| У законі написано: «Іншими мовами й іншими устами говоритиму народові цьому; та й тоді не послухають Мене, — говорить Господь». | In the law it is written, By men of strange tongues and by strange lips will I speak unto this people; and not even thus will they hear me, saith the Lord. |

| Отже, мови є знамення не для віруючих, а для невіруючих; пророцтво ж не для невіруючих, а для віруючих. | Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to the unbelieving: but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to them that believe. |
|

|
| Коли вся церква зійдеться разом‚ і всі почнуть говорити незнайомими мовами, і увійдуть до вас недосвідчені або невіруючі, то чи не скажуть, що ви біснуєтесь? | If therefore the whole church be assembled together and all speak with tongues, and there come in men unlearned or unbelieving, will they not say that ye are mad? |

| Та коли всі пророкують і ввійде хтось невіруючий або недосвідчений, то його всі викривають і всі осуджують. | But if all prophesy, and there come in one unbelieving or unlearned, he is reproved by all, he is judged by all; |

| І таким чином таємниці серця його виявляються, і він, упавши ниць, поклониться Богові і скаже: «Воістину з вами Бог». | and thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed. |

| Так що ж, браття? Коли ви сходитесь і у кожного з вас є псалом, є повчання, є мова, є одкровення, є тлумачення, — все це нехай буде на повчання. | What is it then, brethren? When ye come together, each one of you hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. |

| Якщо хто говорить незнайомою мовою, говоріть двоє, найбільше троє, і то по одному, а один нехай тлумачить. | If any man speaketh in a tongue, let it be by two, or at the most three, and that in turn; and let one interpret: |

| Коли ж тлумача не буде, то мовчи в церкві, а говори собі та Богові. | but if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. |
|

|
| І пророки нехай говорять двоє чи троє, а інші нехай розмірковують. | And let the prophets speak by two or three, and let the others discern. |
|

|
30
|
| Коли ж другому, що сидить, буде одкровення, то перший нехай мовчить. | But if a revelation be made to another sitting by, let the first keep silence. |
|

|
| Бо всі один по одному можете пророкувати, щоб усі повчалися і всі втішалися. | For ye all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted; |
|

|
| І духи пророчі покірні пророкам, | and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets; |
|

|
33
|
| тому що Бог не є Бог безладу, а миру. Так буває по всіх церквах у святих. | for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. |
|

|
34
|
| Жінки ваші у церквах нехай мовчать, бо не дозволено їм говорити, а коритися, як і закон говорить. | Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but to be in subjection, as also saith the law. |
|

35
|
| Якщо ж вони хочуть чогось навчитися, нехай спитають про те вдома у своїх чоловіків, бо непристойно жінці говорити в церкві. | And if they would learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is shameful for women to speak in the church. |
|

|
| Хіба від вас слово Боже вийшло? Чи до вас одних досягло? | What? was it from you that the word of God went forth? or came it unto you alone? |
|
37
|
37
|
| Якщо хто вважає себе пророком чи духовним, нехай той розуміє, що я пишу вам, бо це заповіді Господні. | If any man thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him take knowledge of the things which I write unto you, that they are commandments of the Lord. |
|

38
|
| А хто не розуміє, нехай не розуміє. | But if any man is ignorant, let him be ignorant. |
|
39
|
39
|
| Отже, браття, дбайте про те, щоб пророкувати, але не забороняйте говорити й мовами; | Wherefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. |
|
40
|
40
|
| тільки все повинно бути благопристойно і статечно. | Let all things be done decently and in order. |
|

Chapter 15

|

|
| Звіщаю вам, браття, благовістування, яке я благовістив вам, яке ви і прийняли, в якому і утвердилися, | Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand, |
|

|
2
|
| яким і спасаєтеся, якщо дотримуєтеся того слова так, як я благовістив вам, коли тільки не марно увірували. | by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain. |
|

|
3
|
| Бо я передав вам спочатку те, що й сам прийняв, а саме: що Христос помер за гріхи наші, за Писанням, | For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; |
|
4
|
4
|
| і що Він був похований, і що воскрес на третій день, за Писанням, | and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures; |
|
5
|
5
|
| і що явився Кифі, потім одинадцятьом; | and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve; |
|
6
|
6
|
| потім явився більш як п’ятистам браттям одночасно, більшість яких живуть і донині, а деякі й померли; | then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some also are fallen asleep; |
|

|
7
|
| потім явився Якову, також усім апостолам; | then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles; |
|
8
|
8
|
| а після всіх явився і мені, мов якомусь виродкові. | and last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also. |
|

|
| Бо я найменший з апостолів і недостойний зватися апостолом, тому що гнав Церкву Божу. | For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. |
|

|
10
|
| Але благодаттю Божою я є те, що є; і благодать Його в мені не була марною, та й потрудився я більше за них усіх: тільки не я, а благодать Божа, яка зі мною. | But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. |

|
| Проте чи я, чи вони, ми так проповідуємо, і ви так увірували. | Whether then it be I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed. |
|

|
| Коли ж про Христа проповідується, що Він воскрес з мертвих, то як же деякі з вас говорять, що нема воскресіння мертвих? | Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? |
|

|
| Якщо нема воскресіння мертвих, то і Христос не воскрес. | But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised: |
|

|
| А якщо і Христос не воскрес, то й проповідь наша марна, марна і віра ваша. | and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, and your faith also is vain. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Крім цього, ми були б лжесвідками Божими, тому що свідчили б про Бога, що Він воскресив Христа, Якого Він не воскресив, якщо мертві не воскресають; | Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised. |

| бо якщо мертві не воскресають, то й Христос не воскрес. | For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised: |
|

|
| А якщо Христос не воскрес, то віра ваша марна: ви ще у гріхах ваших. | and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. |
|
18
|
18
|
| Тому і ті, що вмерли у Христі, загинули, | Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished. |
|
19
|
19
|
| і якщо ми в цьому тільки житті уповаємо на Христа, то ми нещасніші за всіх людей. | If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable. |
|
20
|
20
|
| Але Христос воскрес з мертвих, первісток серед померлих. | But now hath Christ been raised from the dead; he became the firstfruits of them that are asleep. |
|

|
21
|
| Бо як смерть через людину, так через людину і воскресіння мертвих. | For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. |
|

|
22
|
| Як в Адамі всі вмирають, так у Христі всі оживуть, | For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. |
|

|

|
| кожний по своєму чину: первісток Христос, потім ті, які увірували в Христа, в пришестя Його. | But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ’s, at his coming. |
|

|
24
|
| А потому кінець, коли Він передасть царство Богу і Отцю, коли скасує всяке начальство, і всяку владу і силу, | Then cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power. |
|

|
25
|
| бо Йому належить царствувати, доки покладе всіх ворогів під ноги Свої. | For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet. |
|

|
26
|
| Останній же ворог знищиться — смерть, | The last enemy that shall be abolished is death. |
|
27
|
27
|
| бо все впокорив під ноги Його. Коли ж сказано, що все Йому підкорене, то ясно, що, крім Того, Який підкорив Йому все. | For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him. |
|

|
| Коли ж упокорить Йому все, тоді і Сам Син підкориться Тому, Хто впокорив Йому все, щоб Бог був у всьому все. | And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all. |
|

|
| Бо що роблять ті, які хрестяться заради мертвих? Якщо мертві зовсім не воскресають, то навіщо і хрестяться заради мертвих? | Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for the dead? |
|

|
30
|
| Hавіщо і ми повсякчас наражаємося на небезпеки? | why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour? |
|

|
| Я щодня вмираю: тому свідок ваша похвала мені, браття, яку я маю в Христі Ісусі, Господі нашому. | I protest by that glorying in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. |
|

|
| Коли я боровся із звірами в Ефесі, то, з людського погляду, яка мені користь, якщо мертві не воскресають? Будемо їсти й пити, бо завтра помремо! | If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me, if the dead are not raised? Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. |

| Hе обманюйтесь: лихі товариства псують добрі звичаї. | Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals. |
|

|
| Протверезіться, як належить, і не грішіть; бо‚ на сором вам кажу, деякі з вас не знають Бога. | Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I say this to move you to shame. |
|

|
35
|
| Та хто-небудь скаже: як саме воскреснуть мертві? І в якому тілі прийдуть? | But someone will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come? |
|

|
36
|
| Hерозумний! Те, що ти сієш, не оживе, якщо не умре. | Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die: |
|

|
37
|
| І коли ти сієш, то сієш не тіло майбутнє, а голе зерно, яке трапиться, пшеничне чи якесь інше; | and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind; |
|

|
38
|
| але Бог дає йому тіло, як хоче, і кожній зернині своє тіло. | but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed its own body. |
|
39
|
39
|
| Hе всяка плоть є така ж сама плоть; але інша плоть у людей, інша у тварин, інша у риб, інша у птахів. | All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fish, and another of birds. |
|

|
40
|
| Є тіла небесні і є тіла земнi; та інша слава небесних, інша земних. | There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. |
|

|
| Інша слава сонця, інша слава місяця, інша зірок; і зірка від зірки різниться у славі. | There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory. |
|

|
| Так і при воскресінні мертвих: сіється у тління, встає в нетліннi; | So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: |

|
| сіється у безчесті, встає у славi; сіється в немочі, встає у силi; | it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: |
|
44
|

|
| сіється тіло душевне, встає тіло духовне. Є тіло душевне, і є тіло духовне. | it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is also a spiritual body. |
|

|
| Так і написано: перший чоловік Адам став душею живою, а останній Адам є дух животворчий. | So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. |
|

|
| Але не духовне перше, а душевне, потім духовне. | Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual. |
|

|
47
|
| Перший чоловік — із землі, земний; другий чоловік — Господь з неба. | The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. |
|
48
|
48
|
| Який земний, такі й земнi; і який небесний, такі й небесні. | As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. |
|
49
|
49
|
| І як ми носили образ земного, так будемо носити і образ небесного. | And as we have borne the image of the earthy, let us also bear the image of the heavenly. |
|
50
|
50
|
| Але скажу вам, браття, що плоть і кров успадкувати Царства Божого не можуть, і тління не успадкує нетління. | Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. |
|

|
| Ось кажу вам таїну: не всі ми помремо, але всі змінимось; | Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed, |
|

|
| раптом, в одну мить, при останній сурмi; бо засурмить, і мертві воскреснуть нетлінними, а ми перемінимось. | in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. |
|

|
| Бо тлінному цьому належить одягнутися в нетлінне, і смертному цьому одягнутись у безсмертя. | For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. |
|

|
| Коли ж тлінне це вдягнеться в нетлінне і смертне це вдягнеться в безсмертя, тоді збудеться слово написане: «Поглинута смерть перемогою». | But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. |

| Смерть! Де твоє жало? Пекло! Де твоя перемога? | O death, where is thy sting? O Hades, where is thy victory? |

| Жало ж смерти — гріх; а сила гріха — закон. | The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law: |
|

|
| Дяка Богові, Який дав нам перемогу через Господа нашого Ісуса Христа. | but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
|
58
|
58
|
| Отже, браття мої улюблені, будьте тверді, непохитні, завжди збагачуйтесь у ділі Господньому, знаючи, що труд ваш не марний перед Господом. | Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord. |

| Щодо милостині для святих, то робіть так, як я установив у церквах галатійських. | Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I gave order to the churches of Galatia, so also do ye. |
|

|
| У перший день тижня кожен із вас нехай відкладає в себе і зберігає, скільки має змоги, щоб не збирати, коли я прийду. | Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may be prospered, that no collections be made when I come. |
|

|
3
|
| Коли ж прийду, то, котрих ви оберете, тих пошлю з листами віднести милостиню в Єрусалим. | And when I arrive, whomsoever ye shall approve by letters, them will I send to carry your bounty unto Jerusalem: |
|

|
4
|
| Якщо ж буде пристойно і мені піти, то вони підуть зі мною. | and if it be meet for me to go also, they shall go with me. |
|
5
|
5
|
| Я прийду до вас, коли пройду Македонію; бо я йду через Македонію. | But I will come unto you, when I shall have passed through Macedonia; for I pass through Macedonia; |
|

|

|
| У вас же, можливо, я поживу або й перезимую, щоб ви мене провели, куди піду. | but with you it may be that I shall abide, or even winter, that ye may set me forward on my journey whithersoever I go. |
|

|
| Бо не хочу тепер бачитися із вами мимохідь, а сподіваюсь деякий час пробути у вас, коли дозволить Господь. | For I do not wish to see you now by the way; but I hope to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit. |
|

|
| В Ефесі ж я пробуду до П’ятдесятниці, | But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost; |
|

|

|
| бо для мене відчинилися великі й широкі двері, і супротивників багато. | for a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. |
|

|
10
|
| Якщо прийде до вас Тимофій, глядіть, щоб він був у вас у безпецi; бо він робить діло Господнє, як і я. | Now if Timothy come, see that he be with you without fear; for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do: |
|

|
11
|
| Тому нехай ніхто не зневажає його, але проведіть його з миром, щоб він прийшов до мене; бо я чекаю на нього з браттями. | let no man therefore despise him. But set him forward on his journey in peace, that he may come unto me: for I expect him with the brethren. |
|

|
| Що ж до брата Аполлоса, я дуже просив його, щоб він із браттями прийшов до вас; та він ніяк не хотів іти тепер, а прийде при нагоді. | But as touching Apollos the brother, I besought him much to come unto you with the brethren: and it was not at all his will to come now; but he will come when he shall have opportunity. |

| Пильнуйте, стійте у вірі, будьте мужні і тверді. | Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. |
|

|
| Усе у вас нехай буде з любов’ю. | Let all that ye do be done in love. |
|

|
| Благаю вас, браття [ви знаєте сім’ю Стефанову, що вона є початок Ахайї і що вони присвятили себе на служіння святим], | Now I beseech you, brethren (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have set themselves to minister unto the saints), |

| будьте і ви шанобливі до таких і до всякого, хто допомагає і трудиться. | that ye also be in subjection unto such, and to everyone that helpeth in the work and laboreth. |
|

|
| Я радий приходу Стефана, Фортуната і Ахаїка; вони заповнили відсутність вашу, | And I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they supplied. |
|

|
| бо вони заспокоїли мій і ваш дух. Шануйте таких. | For they refreshed my spirit and yours: acknowledge ye therefore them that are such. |
|

|
| Вітають вас Церкви Асійськi; щиро вітають вас у Господі Акила і Прискілла разом із домашньою їхньою церквою. | The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. |
|

|
| Вітають вас усі браття. Вітайте один одного святим цілуванням. | All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with a holy kiss. |
|

|
| Моє, Павлове, вітання власною рукою. | The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand. |
|

| Хто не любить Господа Ісуса Христа, нехай буде проклятий, мара́н-афа́.* | If any man loveth not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema. Maranatha. |

|
| Благодать Господа нашого Ісуса Христа з вами, | The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. |
|

|
| і любов моя з усіма вами в Христі Ісусі. Амінь. | My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. |
