| Про те, що було від початку, що ми чули, що бачили своїми очима, що розглядали і чого торкалися руки наші, про Слово життя, — | That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life |
|

|
| бо життя явилось‚ і ми бачили‚ і свідчимо, і звіщаємо вам це вічне життя, яке було в Отця і явилось нам, — | (and the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare unto you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us); |
|

|

|
| про те, що ми бачили і чули, звіщаємо вам, щоб і ви мали єднання з нами: а наше єднання — з Отцем і Сином Його, Ісусом Христом. | that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: yea, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ: |

| І це пишемо вам, щоб радість ваша була повна. | and these things we write unto you, that our joy may be made full. |
|

|

|
| І ось благовістя, яке ми чули від Нього і звіщаємо вам: Бог є світло, і немає в Ньому ніякої темряви. | And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. |
|

|
| Коли ж ми кажемо, що маємо єднання з Ним, а ходимо в темряві, то ми неправду говоримо і не творимо істини; | If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: |
|

|
7
|
| коли ж ходимо в світлі, подібно до того, як Він у світлі, то маємо єднання один з одним, і Кров Ісуса Христа, Сина Його, очищає нас від усякого гріха. | but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. |

| Якщо кажемо, що не маємо гріха, — обманюємо самих себе, і правди немає в нас. | If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. |
|

|

|
| Коли сповідаємо гріхи наші, то Він, будучи вірним і праведним, простить нам гріхи наші і очистить нас від усякої неправди. | If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
|
10
|
10
|
| Коли кажемо, що ми не згрішили, то представляємо Його неправдомовним і слова Його немає в нас. | If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. |
|
Глава 2
|
Chapter 2
|
|

|

|
| Діти мої! Це пишу вам, щоб ви не грішили, а коли б хто згрішив, то ми маємо заступника перед Отцем, Ісуса Христа, Праведника. | My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: |

| Він є очищення від гріхів наших, і не тільки від наших, але і від гріхів усього світу. | and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. |
|

|
3
|
| А що ми пізнали Його, розуміємо з того, що дотримуємось Його заповідей. | And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. |
|
4
|
4
|
| Хто говорить: «Я пізнав Його», але заповідей Його не виконує, той неправдомовець і немає в ньому правди; | He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; |
|
5
|
5
|
| а хто дотримує слово Його, в тому істинно любов Божа здійснилася; з цього пізнаємо‚ що ми в Ньому. | but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him: |
|

|

|
| Хто говорить, що перебуває в Ньому, той повинен робити так, як Він робив. | he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk even as he walked. |
|

|
| Улюблені! Пишу вам не нову заповідь, а заповідь давню, яку ви мали від початку. Давня заповідь — це слово, яке ви чули від початку. | Brethren, no new commandment write I unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning: the old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. |
|

| Але при тому і нову заповідь пишу вам, що є справді і в Ньому, і у вас, тому що темрява минає і правдиве світло вже світить. | Again, a new commandment write I unto you, which thing is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shineth. |
|

|
| Хто говорить, що він у світлі, а ненавидить брата свого, той ще в темряві. | He that saith he is in the light and hateth his brother, is in the darkness even until now. |
|
10
|
10
|
| Хто любить брата свого, той перебуває у світлі, і немає в ньому спокуси. | He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him. |
|
11
|
11
|
| А хто ненавидить брата свого, той перебуває в темряві, і в темряві ходить, і не знає, куди йде, бо темрява засліпила очі йому. | But he that hateth his brother is in the darkness, and walketh in the darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness hath blinded his eyes. |
|

| Пишу вам, діти, бо прощаються вам гріхи імені Його ради. | I write unto you, my little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. |
|

|

|
| Пишу вам, батьки, бо ви пізнали Сущого від початку. Пишу вам, юнаки, бо ви перемогли лукавого. Пишу вам, юнаки, бо ви пізнали Отця. | I write unto you, fathers, because ye know him who is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the evil one. I write unto you, little children, because ye know the Father. |

| Я написав вам, батьки, бо ви пізнали Безпочаткового. Я написав вам, юнаки, бо ви сильні, і слово Боже перебуває у вас, і ви перемогли лукавого. | I have written unto you, fathers, because ye know him who is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the evil one. |

|
| Не любіть світу, ні того, що в світі: хто любить світ, у тому немає любові Отчої. | Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. |
|
16
|
16
|
| Бо все, що в світі: похіть плотська, похіть очима і гордість житейська, не від Отця, а від світу цього. | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vainglory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. |
|
17
|
17
|
| І світ минає, і похіть його, а той, хто виконує волю Божу, перебуває повік. | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. |
|
18
|
18
|
| Діти! Остання це година! І як ви чули, що прийде антихрист — і тепер з’явилося багато антихристів, — з цього ми і пізнаємо, що остання година настала. | Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that the antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour. |

| Вони вийшли від нас, але не були наші: бо якби вони були наші, то залишилися б з нами; але вони вийшли‚ і через те виявилося, що не всі наші. | They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us. |
|

| Ви ж маєте помазання від Святого і знаєте все. | And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and ye know all things. |
|

|

|
| Я написав вам не тому, що ви не знаєте істини, але тому, що ви знаєте її і що всяка неправда не від істини. | I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and because no lie is of the truth. |
|
22
|
22
|
| Хто неправдомовець, як не той, хто відкидає, що Ісус є Христос? Це антихрист, що зрікається Отця і Сина. | Who is the liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, even he that denieth the Father and the Son. |
|

|
23
|
| Кожен, хто зрікається Сина, не має і Отця, а хто сповідує Сина, має і Отця. | Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. |
|
24
|
24
|
| Отже, що ви чули від початку, те нехай і перебуває у вас; якщо перебуватиме у вас те, що ви чули від початку, то і ви перебуватимете в Сині і в Отці. | As for you then, let that abide in you which ye heard from the beginning. If that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you, ye also shall abide in the Son, and in the Father. |

| Обітниця ж, яку Він дав нам, є життя вічне. | And this is the promise which he promised us, even the life eternal. |
|

|
| Це я написав вам про тих, що вводять вас в оману. | These things have I written unto you concerning them that would lead you astray. |
|
27
|
27
|
| А втім, помазання, яке ви одержали від Нього, у вас перебуває, і ви не маєте потреби, щоб хто вчив вас; а що саме це помазання вчить вас усьому, і воно істинне і нехибне, то чого воно навчило вас, у тому перебувайте. | And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teacheth you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye shall abide in him. |

| Отже, діти, перебувайте в Ньому, щоб‚ коли Він явиться, мали ми дерзновення і не осоромилися перед Ним у пришестя Його. | And now, my little children, abide in him; that, when he shall be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. |
|

|
| Коли ви знаєте, що Він праведник, то зрозумійте і те, що кожен, хто творить правду, від Нього народився. | If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that everyone that doeth righteousness is begotten of him. |
|
Глава 3
|
Chapter 3
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Бачите, яку любов дав нам Отець, щоб нам називатися і бути дітьми Божими. Світ тому не знає нас, що не пізнав Його. | Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God. For this cause the world knoweth you not, because it knew him not. |
|

|
2
|
| Улюблені! Ми тепер діти Божі, але ще не відкрилося, що будемо. Знаємо тільки, що‚ коли відкриється, будемо подібні до Нього, тому що побачимо Його, як Він є. | Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be: but we know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is. |

|
| І кожний, хто має цю надію на Нього, очищає себе, бо Він чистий. | And everyone that hath this hope set on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. |
|
4
|
4
|
| Усякий, хто чинить гріх, чинить і беззаконня; і гріх є беззаконня. | Everyone that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. |
|
5
|
5
|
| І ви знаєте, що Він явився для того, щоб узяти гріхи наші, і що в Ньому немає гріха. | And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. |
|
6
|
6
|
| Кожний, хто перебуває в Ньому, не грішить; усякий, хто грішить, не бачив Його і не пізнав Його. | Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither knoweth him. |
|
7
|
7
|
| Діти! Нехай ніхто не вводить вас в оману. Хто творить правду, той праведний, як і Він праведний. | My little children, let no man lead you astray: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous: |
|

|
8
|
| Хто чинить гріх, той від диявола, бо спочатку диявол згрішив. Заради цього і явився Син Божий, щоб зруйнувати діла диявола. | he that doeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. To this end was the Son of God manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. |
|

|
| Кожний, народжений від Бога, не чинить гріха, тому що сім’я Його перебуває в ньому, і він не може грішити, бо народжений від Бога. | Whosoever is begotten of God doeth no sin, because his seed abideth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God. |
|

10
|
| Діти Божі і діти диявола пізнаються так: усякий, хто не творить правди, не є від Бога, як і той, хто не любить брата свого. | In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. |
|

|
11
|
| Бо таке є благовістування, яке ви чули від початку, щоб ми любили один одного, | For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another: |
|
12
|
12
|
| не так, як Каїн, який був від лукавого і вбив брата свого. А за що вбив його? За те, що діла його були злі, а діла брата його — праведні. | not as Cain was of the evil one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. |
|
13
|
13
|
| Hе дивуйтеся, браття мої, якщо світ ненавидить вас. | Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hateth you. |
|
14
|
14
|
| Ми знаємо, що ми перейшли зі смерти в життя, бо любимо братів; той, хто не любить брата, перебуває в смерті. | We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Усякий, хто ненавидить брата свого, є людиновбивця; а ви знаєте, що ніякий людиновбивця не має життя вічного, що в ньому перебувало б. | Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. |
|
16
|
16
|
| Любов пізнали ми з того, що Він поклав за нас душу Свою: і ми повинні класти душі свої за братів. | Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. |
|
17
|
17
|
| А хто має достатки на світі, але, коли бачить брата свого в нужді, зачиняє від нього своє серце, то як може перебувати в такому любов Божа? | But whoso hath the world’s goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him? |
|

|
18
|
| Діти мої! Будемо любити не словом чи язиком, а ділом і правдою. | My little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth. |
|
19
|
19
|
| І ось із цього пізнаємо, що ми від істини, і впокорюємо перед Hим серця нашi; | And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him: |
|
20
|
20
|
| бо якщо серце наше засуджує нас, то тим більше Бог, бо Бог більший від нашого серця і знає все. | because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. |
|
21
|
21
|
| Улюблені! Якщо наше серце не засуджує нас, то ми маємо дерзновення до Бога | Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have boldness toward God; |
|
22
|
22
|
| і, чого тільки попросимо, одержимо від Hього, бо дотримуємося заповідей Його і робимо угодне для Hього. | and whatsoever we ask we receive of him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. |
|

|

|
| А заповідь Його та, щоб ми вірували в ім’я Сина Його Ісуса Христа і любили один одного, як Він заповів нам. | And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he gave commandment. |
|
24
|
24
|
| І хто зберігає заповіді Його, той перебуває в Hьому, і Він у тому. А що Він перебуває в нас, пізнаємо від Духа, який Він дав нам. | And he that keepeth his commandments abideth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he gave us. |
|

Chapter 4
|

|
| Улюблені! Не всякому духові вірте, але випробовуйте духів, чи від Бога вони, бо багато лжепророків з’явилось у світі. | Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. |
|

|

|
| Духа Божого і духа омани пізнавайте так: усякий дух, що сповідує Ісуса Христа, Який прийшов у плоті, є від Бога; | Hereby the Spirit of God is known: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: |
|

|
3
|
| а всякий дух, що не сповідує Ісуса Христа, Який прийшов у плотi, не є від Бога, але це дух антихриста, про якого ви чули, що він прийде і тепер уже є в світі. | and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already. |

| Діти! Ви від Бога і перемогли їх; бо Той, Хто у вас, більший за того, хто у світі. | Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. |
|

|
| Вони від світу, тому і говорять, як у світі, і світ слухає їх. | They are of the world: therefore speak they as of the world, and the world heareth them. |
|

|

|
| Ми від Бога; той, хто знає Бога, слухає нас; хто не від Бога, той не слухає нас. З цього пізнаємо духа істини і духа омани. | We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he who is not of God heareth us not. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. |
|

|
| Улюблені! Будемо любити один одного, бо любов від Бога, і кожен, хто любить, народжений від Бога і знає Бога. | Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God. |
|

|

|
| Хто не любить, той не пізнав Бога, тому що Бог є любов. | He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. |
|
9
|
9
|
| Любов Божа до нас відкрилась у тому, що Бог послав у світ Єдинородного Сина Свого, щоб ми жили через Hього. | Herein was the love of God manifested in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. |
|

|
10
|
| У тому любов, що не ми полюбили Бога, а Він полюбив нас і послав Сина Свого на очищення від гріхів наших. | Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. |
|

|
11
|
| Улюблені! Якщо так полюбив нас Бог, то і ми повинні любити один одного. | Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. |
|
12
|
12
|
| Бога ніхто ніколи не бачив. Якщо ми любимо один одного, то Бог у нас перебуває, і довершена Його любов є в нас. | No man hath beheld God at any time: if we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us: |
|
13
|
13
|
| Що ми перебуваємо в Hьому і Він у нас, пізнаємо з того, що Він дав нам від Духа Свого. | hereby we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. |
|
14
|
14
|
| І ми бачили і свідчимо, що Отець послав Сина Спасителем світу. | And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Хто сповідує, що Ісус є Син Божий, в тому перебуває Бог і він у Бозі. | Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God. |
|
16
|
16
|
| І ми пізнали любов, що має до нас Бог, і увірували в неї. Бог є любов, і хто перебуває в любові, перебуває в Бозі і Бог у ньому. | And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him. |
|
17
|
17
|
| Любов досягає в нас такої довершености, що ми маємо дерзновення в день судний, бо робимо в цьому світі, як Він. | Herein is love made perfect with us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is, even so are we in this world. |
|
18
|
18
|
| У любові немає страху, але довершена любов проганяє страх, бо страх має муку. Той, хто боїться, не довершений у любові. | There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love. |
|

|

|
| Будемо любити Його, бо Він раніше полюбив нас. | We love him, because he first loved us. |
|
20
|
20
|
| Хто каже: «Я люблю Бога», а брата свого ненавидить, той говорить неправду: бо той, хто не любить брата свого, якого бачить, як може любити Бога, Якого не бачить? | If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? |

| І ми маємо від Hього таку заповідь, щоб той, хто любить Бога, любив і брата свого. | And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also. |
|
Глава 5
|
Chapter 5
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Всякий, хто вірує, що Ісус є Христос, від Бога народжений, і кожен, Хто любить Того, Хто народив, любить і Того, Хто народився від Hього. | Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God: and whosoever loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. |

| Що ми любимо дітей Божих, пізнаємо з того, коли любимо Бога і дотримуємося заповідей Його. | Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. |
|
3
|
3
|
| Бо це є любов до Бога, щоб ми дотримувалися заповідей Його; і заповіді Його не тяжкі. | For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. |
|
4
|
4
|
| Бо всякий, народжений від Бога, перемагає світ; і ця перемога, що перемогла світ, — віра наша. | For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even your faith. |
|
5
|
5
|
| Хто перемагає світ, як не той, хто вірує, що Ісус є Син Божий? | Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? |
|
6
|
6
|
| Цей є Ісус Христос, Який прийшов водою і кров’ю і Духом, не водою тільки, але водою і кров’ю, і Дух свідчить про Hього, бо Дух є істина. | This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth. |

| Бо троє свідчать на небі: Отець, Слово і Святий Дух; і Ці троє — єдине. | For there are three who bear witness, |
|

|
8
|
| І троє свідчать на землі: дух, вода і кров; і ці троє — про єдине. | the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one. |
|
9
|
9
|
| Якщо ми приймаємо свідчення людське, то свідчення Боже — більше, бо це є свідчення Боже, яким Бог свідчив про Сина Свого. | If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath borne concerning his Son. |
|

|
10
|
| Хто вірує в Сина Божого, має свідчення в собі самому; хто не вірує Богові, той робить Його неправдомовцем, бо не вірує в свідчення, яким Бог свідчив про Сина Свого. | He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son. |

| Свідчення це полягає в тому, що Бог дарував нам життя вічне, і це життя в Сині Його. | And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
|

|
| Хто має Сина Божого, той має життя; хто не має Сина Божого, той не має життя. | He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life. |
|
13
|
13
|
| Це написав я вам, що віруєте в ім’я Сина Божого, щоб ви знали, що ви, віруючи в Сина Божого, маєте життя вічне. | These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. |

| І ось яке дерзновення ми маємо до Hього, що, коли просимо чого згідно волі Його, Він слухає нас. | And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: |
|

|
15
|
| А коли ми знаємо, що Він слухає нас у всьому, чого б ми не просили, — знаємо й те, що, чого просимо, одержуємо від Hього. | and if we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. |
|

|
16
|
| Коли хто бачить свого брата, який грішить гріхом не на смерть, то нехай молиться, і Бог дасть йому життя, тобто тому, хто грішить гріхом не на смерть. Є гріх на смерть: не про цей кажу, щоб він молився. | If any man see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: not concerning this do I say that he should make request. |

| Всяка неправда є гріх; але є гріх не на смерть. | All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. |
|

|

| Знаємо також, що Син Божий прийшов і дав нам світло і розум, щоб ми пізнали Бога істинного і щоб були в істинному Сині Його Ісусі Христі. Цей є істинний Бог і життя вічне. | And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. |
