Глава 1	Chapter 1

Павло‚ і Силуан‚ і Тимофій — церкві Солунській в Бозі Отці і Господі Ісусі Христі: благодать вам і мир від Бога Отця нашого і Господа Ісуса Христа.	Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Завжди дякуємо Богові за всіх вас, згадуючи про вас у молитвах наших,	We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3	3
безперестанно пам’ятаючи про ваше діло віри, і труд любови, і терпіння уповання на Господа нашого Ісуса Христа перед Богом і Отцем нашим,	remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

знаючи обрання ваше, улюблені Богом браття;	knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,
5	5
тому що наше благовістування у вас було не лише в слові, але і в силі, і у Святому Дусі, і з багатьма свідченнями, як ви самi знаєте‚ які ми були між вами для вас.	how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

І ви стали наслідувачами нам і Господеві, прийнявши слово при багатьох скорботах з радістю Духа Святого,	And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;

так що ви стали зразком для всіх віруючих у Македонії та Ахайї.	so that ye became examples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
8	8
Бо від вас рознеслося слово Господнє не тільки в Македонії та Ахайї, але і в усякому місці пройшла слава про віру вашу в Бога, так що не треба нам говорити про це.	For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and in Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything.

Бо вони самі звіщають про нас, яким був наш вхід до вас, і як ви навернулися до Бога від ідолів, щоб служити Богові Живому і істинному	For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,
10	10
і чекати з небес Сина Його, Якого Він воскресив з мертвих, Ісуса, що визволяє нас від майбутнього гніву.	and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.
Глава 2	Chapter 2

1	1
Ви самі знаєте, браття, про наш вхід до вас, що він не був даремний;	For you yourselves, brethren, know our entering in unto you, that it hath not been found vain:
2	2
але, спершу постраждавши і зазнавши зневаги в Филиппах, як ви знаєте, ми насмілились у Богові нашому проповідувати вам благовістя Боже з великим подвигом.	but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as ye know, at Philippi, we waxed bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God in much conflict.

Бо в нашому вченні нема ні омани, ні нечистих спонукань, ні лукавства;	For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
4	4
але, оскільки Бог визнав нас гідними, щоб доручити нам благовістування, то ми так і говоримо, догоджаючи не людям, а Богові, Який випробовує серця наші.	but even as we have been approved of God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God who proveth our hearts.
5	5
Бо ніколи не було в нас перед вами ні слова омани, як ви знаєте, ні користи: Бог свідок!	For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;
6	6
Hе шукаємо слави людської ні від вас, ні від інших:	nor seeking glory of men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.
7	7
ми могли прийти з поважністю, як апостоли Христові, але були тихі серед вас, як годувальниця, що ніжно поводиться з дітьми своїми.	But we were gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherisheth her own children:
8	8
Так ми, з прихильности до вас, зажадали передати вам не тільки благовістя Боже, але й душі наші, тому що ви стали нам любі.	even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.
9	9
Бо ви пам’ятаєте, браття, труд наш і подвиг: вночі і вдень працюючи, щоб не обтяжити кого з вас, ми проповідували благовістя Боже.	For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10	10
Свідки ви і Бог, як свято і праведно та бездоганно ми поводились серед вас, віруючих,	Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and righteously and unblamably we behaved ourselves toward you that believe:
11	11
тому що ви добре знаєте, як кожного з вас, мов батько дітей своїх,	as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children,
12	12
ми просили і переконували та благали діяти достойно Бога, Який покликав вас у Своє Царство і славу.	exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying, to the end that ye should walk worthily of God, who calleth you into his own kingdom and glory.
13	13
Тому і ми безперестанно дякуємо Богові, що‚ прийнявши від нас почуте Слово Боже, ви прийняли його не як слово людське, а як Слово Боже, яким воно є істинно, яке і діє у вас, віруючих.	For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when ye received from us the word of the message, even the word of God, ye accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also worketh in you that believe.

Бо ви, браття, стали наслідувачами церков Божих у Христі Ісусі, які знаходяться в Юдеї, бо і ви те саме перетерпіли від своїх єдиноплемінників, що й ті від юдеїв,	For ye, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus: for ye also suffered the same things of your own countrymen, even as they did of the Jews;
15	15
які вбили і Господа Ісуса і Його пророків, і нас вигнали, і Богові не догоджають, і всім людям противляться,	who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove out us, and please not God, and are contrary to all men;
16	16
які забороняють нам говорити язичникам, щоб спаслися, і через це поповнюють завжди міру гріхів своїх; та наближається на них гнів до кінця.	forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always: but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
17	17
Ми ж, браття, розлучившись із вами на короткий час лицем, а не серцем, ще з більшим бажанням прагнули побачити лице ваше.	But we, brethren, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence not in heart, endeavored the more exceedingly to see your face with great desire:
18	18
І тому ми, я‚ Павло, і один раз і вдруге хотіли прийти до вас, та перешкодив нам сатана.	wherefore we would fain have come unto you, I Paul once and again; and Satan hindered us.
19	19
Бо хто наша надія, або радість, або вінець похвали? Хіба і не ви перед Господом нашим Ісусом Христом у пришестя Його?	For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of glorying? Are not even ye, before our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
20	20
Бо ви — слава наша і радість.	For ye are our glory and our joy.
Глава 3	Chapter 3

1	1
І тому, не стерпівши більше, ми захотіли зостатися в Афінах одні	Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone;
2	2
і послали Тимофія, брата нашого і служителя Божого та співпрацівника нашого у благовістуванні Христовому, щоб утвердити вас і втішити у вірі вашій,	and sent Timothy, our brother, and God’s minister, and our fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith;

щоб ніхто не похитнувся в скорботах цих: бо ви самі знаєте, що нам так судилося.	that no man be moved by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed.
4	4
Бо ми й тоді, коли були у вас, передрікали вам, що маємо страждати, як і сталося, і ви знаєте.	For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5	5
Тому і я, не стерпівши більше, послав довідатися про віру вашу, щоб часом не спокусив вас спокусник і не став марним труд наш.	For this cause I also, when I could no longer forbear, sent that I might know your faith, lest by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor should be in vain.
6	6
Тепер же, коли прийшов до нас від вас Тимофій і приніс нам добру звістку про віру і любов вашу, і що ви завжди маєте добру пам’ять про нас, бажаючи нас бачити, як і ми вас,	But when Timothy came even now unto us from you, and brought us glad tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, longing to see us, even as we also to see you;

то ми, при всій скорботі і нужді нашій‚ втішалися за вас, браття, заради вашої віри;	for this cause, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress through your faith:
8	8
бо тепер ми живі, коли ви перебуваєте в Господі.	for now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
9	9
Яку подяку ми можемо скласти Богові за вас, за всю радість, якою радіємо за вас перед Богом нашим,	For what thanksgiving can we render again unto God for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
10	10
і вночі і вдень якнайревніше молячись, щоб побачити лице ваше і довершити те, чого не вистачило віри вашій?	night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11	11
Сам же Бог і Отець наш і Господь наш Ісус Христос нехай і направить шлях наш до вас.	Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you:
12	12
А вас Господь нехай виповнить і збагатить любов’ю один до одного і до всіх, як і наша є до вас,	and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we also do toward you;
13	13
щоб утвердити серця ваші непорочними у святині перед Богом і Отцем нашим, у пришестя Господа нашого Ісуса Христа з усіма святими Його. Амінь.	to the end he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
Глава 4	Chapter 4

1	1
Тим-то, браття, просимо і благаємо вас Христом Ісусом, щоб ви, прийнявши від нас, як належить вам поводитись і догоджати Богові, у тому ще більше зростали,	Finally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, that ye would abound more and more.

бо ви знаєте, які заповіді ми дали вам від Господа Ісуса.	For ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3	3
Бо воля Божа є святість ваша, щоб ви стримувалися від блуду;	For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;
4	4
щоб кожний із вас міг утримувати свій сосуд у святості й честі,	that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5	5
а не в пристрасті похітливій, як язичники, що не знають Бога;	not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;
6	6
щоб ви ні в чому не поводились із братом своїм протизаконно і користолюбно; тому що Господь — месник за це все, як і раніш ми говорили вам і свідчили.	that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
7	7
Бо покликав нас Бог не до нечистоти, а до святости.	For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.
8	8
Отже, непокірливий непокірний не людині, а Богові, Який і дав нам Духа Свого Святого.	Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who hath also given his Holy Spirit unto you.
9	9
Про братолюбність же нема потреби писати вам; бо ви самі навчені Богом любити один одного,	But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;
10	10
бо ви так і поводитесь із усіма браттями по всій Македонії. Благаємо ж вас, браття, досягати більшого	for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;
11	11
і старанно дбати про те, щоб жити спокійно, робити своє діло і працювати своїми власними руками, як ми наказували вам:	and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we charged you;
12	12
щоб ви поводилися благопристойно перед зовнішніми і ні в чому не мали нестачі.	that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.
13	13
Hе хочу ж, браття, лишати вас у незнанні про померлих, щоб ви не сумували, як інші, що не мають надії.	But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are fallen asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.
14	14
Бо коли ми віруємо, що Ісус помер і воскрес, то й померлих в Ісусі Бог приведе з Hим.	For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15	15
Бо це говоримо вам словом Господнім, що ми, які живемо і залишимося до пришестя Господнього, не попередимо померлих,	For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.
16	16
тому що сам Господь у час сповіщення, при голосі архангела і сурми Божої, зійде з неба, і мертві у Христі воскреснуть раніш;	For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;
17	17
потім ми, що лишились живими, разом з ними будемо піднесені на хмарах назустріч Господеві у повітря і так завжди з Господом будемо.	then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18	18
Отже, втішайте один одного цими словами.	Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Глава 5	Chapter 5

1	1
Про часи ж і терміни, браття, нема потреби вам писати,	But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that aught be written unto you.
2	2
бо ви самі достовірно знаєте, що день Господній так прийде, як злодій уночі.	For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3	3
Бо коли говоритимуть: «мир і безпека»‚ тоді несподівано прийде на них погибель, подібно як біль тієї, що носить в утробі, і не уникнуть.	For when they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
4	4
Але ви, браття, не в темряві, щоб день застав вас, як злодій;	But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief:
5	5
бо всі ви — сини світла і сини дня: ми — не сини ночі, ані темряви.	ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness;
6	6
Отже, не будемо спати, як і інші, а пильнуймо і будьмо тверезі.	so then let us not sleep, as do the rest also, but let us watch and be sober.
7	7
Бо ті, що сплять, вночі сплять, і ті, що упиваються, вночі упиваються.	For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.
8	8
Ми ж, будучи синами дня, будьмо тверезі, одягнувшись у броню віри й любови та в шолом надії на спасіння,	But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
9	9
тому що Бог визначив нас не для гніву, а на одержання спасіння через Господа нашого Ісуса Христа,	For God appointed us not unto wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10	10
Який помер за нас, щоб ми, чи пильнуємо, чи спимо, жили разом з Hим.	who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11	11
Тому втішайте один одного і повчайте один одного, як ви і робите.	Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.
12	12
Просимо ж вас, браття, поважати тих, що трудяться у вас, і предстоятелів ваших у Господі, і тих, що наставляють вас,	But we beseech you, brethren, to know them that labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13	13
і шанувати їх з великою любов’ю за діло їхнє; будьте в мирі між собою.	and to esteem them exceeding highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
14	14
Благаємо вас також, браття: наставляйте на розум безчинних, втішайте малодушних, підтримуйте немічних, будьте довготерплячі до всіх.	And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be long-suffering toward all.
15	15
Пильнуйте, щоб хто кому не відплачував злом за зло; але завжди дбайте про добро один одному і всім.	See that none render unto anyone evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, both toward one another and toward all.
16	16
Завжди радійте.	Rejoice always;
17	17
Безперестанно моліться.	pray without ceasing;
18	18
За все дякуйте: бо така щодо вас воля Божа у Христі Ісусі.	in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward.
19	19
Духа не вгашайте.	Quench not the Spirit;
20	20
Пророцтва не зневажайте.	despise not prophesyings;
21	21
Все досліджуйте, доброго тримайтеся.	but prove all things; hold fast that which is good;
22	22
Утримуйтесь від усякого зла.	abstain from every form of evil.
23	23
Сам же Бог миру нехай освятить вас у всій повноті, і ваш дух, і душа, і тіло у всій цілості нехай збережеться непорочно на пришестя Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.	And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Вірний, Хто кличе вас, Який і сотворить це.	Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.
25	25
Браття! Моліться за нас.	Brethren, pray for us.
26	26
Вітайте всіх братів цілуванням святим.	Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27	27
Заклинаю вас Господом прочитати це послання всім святим браттям.	I adjure you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28	28
Благодать Господа нашого Ісуса Христа з вами. Амінь.	The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
