|
| Пророче слово Господа до Ізраїля через Малахію. | The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by the hand of his messenger. Lay it, I pray you, to heart. |
|

|
| Я полюбив вас, говорить Господь. А ви говорите: «у чому явив Ти любов до нас?» — Чи не брат Ісав Якову? — говорить Господь; і однак же Я полюбив Якова, | I have loved you, saith the Lord. And ye said, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob, |

| а Ісава зненавидів і віддав гори його на спустошення, і володіння його — шакалам пустелі. | and hated Esau, and laid waste his borders, and made his heritage as dwellings of the wilderness? |

|
| Якщо Едом скаже: «ми розорені, але ми відновимо зруйноване», то Господь Саваоф говорить: вони побудують, а Я зруйную, і назвуть їх областю нечестивою, народом, на який Господь прогнівався назавжди. | Because one will say, Idumea has been overthrown, but let us return and rebuild the desolate places; thus saith the Lord Almighty, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall be called The borders of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord has set himself for ever. |

| І побачать це очі ваші, і ви скажете: «звеличився Господь над межами Ізраїля!» | And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The Lord has been magnified upon the borders of Israel. |
|

|
| Син шанує батька і раб — господаря свого; якщо Я батько, те де повага до Мене? і якщо Я Господь, то де благоговіння переді Мною? — говорить Господь Саваоф вам, священики, що знеславлюєте ім’я Моє. Ви говорите: «чим ми знеславлюємо ім’я Твоє?» | A son honours his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a father, where is mine honour? and if I am a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord Almighty. Ye the priests are they that despise my name: yet ye said, Wherein have we despised thy name? |

| Ви приносите на жертовник Мій нечистий хліб, а говорите: «чим ми знеславлюємо Тебе?» — Тим, що говорите: «трапеза Господня не варта поваги». | In that ye bring to mine altar polluted bread; and ye said, Wherein have ye polluted it? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is polluted, and that which was set thereon ye have despised. |

| І коли приносите у жертву сліпе, чи не погано це? або коли приносите кульгаве і хворе, чи не погано це? Піднеси це твоєму князеві; чи буде він задоволений тобою і чи прихильно прийме тебе? — говорить Господь Саваоф. | For if ye bring a blind victim for sacrifices, is it not evil? and if ye bring the lame or the sick, is it not evil? offer it now to thy ruler, and see if he will receive thee, if he will accept thy person, saith the Lord Almighty. |

| Отже, моліться Богу, щоб помилував нас; а коли таке виходить з рук ваших, то чи може Він милостиво приймати вас? — говорить Господь Саваоф. | And now intreat the face of your God, and make supplication to him. These things have been done by your hands; shall I accept you? saith the Lord Almighty. |

| Краще хто-небудь з вас замкнув би двері, щоб дарма не тримали вогню на жертовнику Моєму. Немає Мого благовоління до вас, — говорить Господь Саваоф, — і приношення з рук ваших неблагоугодно Мені. | Because even among you the doors shall be shut, and one will not kindle the fire of mine altar for nothing, I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord Almighty, and I will not accept a sacrifice at your hands. |

| Бо від сходу сонця до заходу велике буде ім’я Моє між народами, і на всякому місці будуть приносити фіміам імені Моєму, чисту жертву; великим буде ім’я Моє між народами, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | For from the rising of the sun even to the going down thereof my name has been glorified among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord Almighty. |

| А ви хулите його тим, що говорите: «трапеза Господня не варта поваги, і здобуток від неї — їжа жалюгідна». | But ye profane it, in that ye say, The table of the Lord is polluted, and his meats set thereon are despised. |
|

| Притому говорите: «ось скільки праці!» і нехтуєте нею, — говорить Господь Саваоф, — і приносите украдене, кульгаве і хворе, і такої ж властивости приносите хлібний дар: чи можу з благоволінням приймати це з рук ваших? — говорить Господь. | And ye said, These services are troublesome: therefore I have utterly rejected them with scorn, saith the Lord Almighty: and ye brought in torn victims, and lame, and sick: if then ye should bring an offering, shall I accept them at your hands? saith the Lord Almighty. |

| Проклятий неправдивий, у якого у стаді є незіпсований самець, і він дав обітницю, а приносить у жертву Господу пошкоджене: тому що Я Цар великий, і ім’я Моє страшне серед народів. | And cursed is the man who had the power, and possessed a male in his flock, and whose vow is upon him, and who sacrifices a corrupt thing to the Lord: for I am a great King, saith the Lord Almighty, and my name is glorious among the nations. |

Chapter 2

| Отже, для вас, священики, ця заповідь: | And now, O priests, this commandment is to you. |
|

|
| якщо ви не послухаєтеся і якщо не приймете до серця, щоб воздавати славу імені Моєму, — говорить Господь Саваоф, — то Я пошлю на вас прокляття і прокляну ваші благословення, і вже проклинаю, тому що ви не хочете прикласти до того серця. | If ye will not hearken, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory to my name, saith the Lord Almighty, then I will send forth the curse upon you, and I will bring a curse upon your blessing: yea, I will curse it, and I will scatter your blessing, and it shall not exist among you, because ye lay not this to heart. |

| Ось, Я відніму у вас плече, і нечистоти розкидаю на обличчя ваші, нечистоти святкових жертв ваших, і викинуть вас разом з ними. | Behold, I turn my back upon you, and I will scatter dung upon your faces, the dung of your feasts, and I will carry you away at the same time. |

| І ви узнаєте, що Я дав цю заповідь для збереження завіту Мого з Левієм, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, that my covenant might be with the sons of Levi, saith the Lord Almighty. |
|

| Завіт Мій з ним був завіт життя і миру, і Я дав його йому для страху, і він боявся Мене і благоговів перед ім’ям Моїм. | My covenant of life and peace was with him, and I gave it him that he might reverently fear me, and that he might be awe-struck at my name. |
|

|
| Закон істини був на вустах його, і неправди не було на язиці його; у мирі і правді він ходив зі Мною і багатьох відвернув від гріха. | The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked before me directing his way in peace, and he turned many from unrighteousness. |
|

|
| Бо вуста священика повинні зберігати відання, і закону шукають з уст його, тому що він вісник Господа Саваофа. | For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty. |
|

|
| Але ви ухилилися з путі цього, для багатьох послужили спокусою у законі, зруйнували завіт Левія, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | But ye have turned aside from the way, and caused many to fail in following the law: ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord Almighty. |
|

|
| За те і Я зроблю вас зневаженими і приниженими перед усім народом, оскільки ви не дотримуєтеся шляхів Моїх, лицедієте у ділах закону. | And I have made you despised and cast out among all the people, because ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law. |
|

|
| Чи не один у всіх нас Отець? Чи не один Бог створив нас? Чому ж ми віроломно чинимо одне проти одного, порушуючи тим завіт батьків наших? | Have ye not all one father? Did not one God create you? why have ye forsaken every man his brother, to profane the covenant of your fathers? |

| Віроломно чинить Іуда, і мерзота звершується в Ізраїлі і в Єрусалимі; бо принизив Іуда святиню Господню, яку любив, одружився з дочкою чужого бога. | Juda has been forsaken, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Juda has profaned the holy things of the Lord, which he delighted in, and has gone after other gods. |

| У того, хто робить це, знищить Господь із наметів Якова того, який пильнує на варті і який відповідає, і який приносить жертву Господу Саваофу. | The Lord will utterly destroy the man that does these things, until he be even cast down from out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and from among them that offer sacrifice to the Lord Almighty. |

| І ось ще що ви робите: ви примушуєте обливати сльозами жертовник Господа з риданням і воланням, так що Він уже не споглядає більше на приношення і не приймає очищувальної жертви з рук ваших. | And these things which I hated, ye did: ye covered with tears the altar of the Lord, and with weeping and groaning because of troubles: is it meet for me to have respect to your sacrifice, or to receive anything from your hands as welcome? |

| Ви скажете: «за що?» За те, що Господь був свідком між тобою і дружиною юности твоєї, проти якої ти чинив віроломно, тим часом як вона подруга твоя і законна дружина твоя. | Yet ye said, Wherefore? Because the Lord has borne witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, whom thou hast forsaken, and yet she was thy partner, and the wife of thy covenant. |

| Але чи не зробив того самого один, і в ньому перебував чудовий дух? що ж зробив цей один? він бажав одержати від Бога потомство. Отже, бережіть дух ваш, і ніхто не чини віроломно проти дружини юности своєї. | And did he not do well? and there was the residue of his spirit. But ye said, What does God seek but a seed? But take ye heed to your spirit, and forsake not the wife of thy youth. |

| Якщо ти ненавидиш її, відпусти, — говорить Господь Бог Ізраїлів; образа покриє одяг його, — говорить Господь Саваоф; тому пильнуйте за духом вашим і не чиніть віроломно. | But if thou shouldest hate thy wife and put her away, saith the Lord God of Israel, then ungodliness shall cover thy thoughts, saith the Lord Almighty: therefore take ye heed to your spirit, and forsake them not, |

| Ви прогнівляєте Господа словами вашими і говорите: «чим прогнівляємо ми Його?» Тим, що говорите: «всякий, хто робить зло, хороший перед очима Господа, і до таких Він благоволить», або: «де Бог правосуддя?» | ye that have provoked God with your words. But ye said, Wherein have we provoked him? In that ye say, Every one that does evil is a pleasing object in the sight of the Lord, and he takes pleasure in such; and where is the God of justice? |

Chapter 3

| Ось, Я посилаю ангела Мого, і він приготує путь переді Мною, і несподівано прийде у храм Свій Господь, Якого ви шукаєте, і ангел завіту, Якого ви бажаєте; ось, Він іде, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | Behold, I send forth my messenger, and he shall survey the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come into his temple, even the angel of the covenant, whom ye take pleasure in: behold, he is coming, saith the Lord Almighty. |

| І хто витримає день пришестя Його, і хто встоїть, коли Він явиться? Бо Він — як вогонь, що розплавляє, і як луг, що очищає, | And who will abide the day of his coming? or who will withstand at his appearing? for he is coming in as the fire of a furnace and as the herb of fullers. |
|

|
| і сяде переплавляти й очищати срібло, і очистить синів Левія і переплавить їх, як золото і як срібло, щоб приносили жертву Господу в правді. | He shall sit to melt and purify as it were silver, and as it were gold: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver, and they shall offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness. |

|
| Тоді благоприємною буде Господу жертва Іуди та Єрусалима, як у дні давні і як у літа минулі. | And the sacrifice of Juda and Jerusalem shall be pleasing to the Lord, according to the former days, and according to the former years. |
|

|
| І прийду до вас для суду і буду швидким викривачем чаклунів і перелюбників і тих, які клянуться неправдиво й утримують плату у найманця, пригноблюють удову і сироту, і відштовхують прибульця, і Мене не бояться, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | And I will draw near to you in judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the witches, and against the adulteresses, and against them that swear falsely by my name, and against them that keep back the hireling's wages, and them that oppress the widow, and afflict orphans, and that wrest the judgment of the stranger, and fear not me, saith the Lord Almighty. |

| Бо Я — Господь, Я не змінююся; тому ви, сини Якова, не знищилися. | For I am the Lord your God, and I am not changed: |
|

|
| З днів батьків ваших ви відступили від уставів Моїх і не дотримуєтесь їх; наверніться до Мене, і Я навернуся до вас, — говорить Господь Саваоф. Ви скажете: «як нам навернутися?» | but ye, the sons of Jacob, have not refrained from the iniquities of your fathers: ye have perverted my statutes, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, saith the Lord Almighty. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? |

| Чи можна людині обкрадати Бога? А ви обкрадаєте Мене. Скажете: «чим обкрадаємо ми Тебе?» Десятиною і приношеннями. | Will a man insult God? for ye insult me. But ye say, Wherein have we insulted thee? In that the tithes and first-fruits are with you still. |

| Прокляттям ви прокляті, тому що ви — весь народ — обкрадаєте Мене. | And ye do surely look off from me, and ye insult me. |
|

|
| Принесіть усі десятини у дім сховища, щоб у домі Моєму була їжа, і хоча б у цьому випробуйте Мене, —- говорить Господь Саваоф: чи не відкрию Я для вас отворів небесних і чи не виллю на вас повне благословення? | The year is completed, and ye have brought all the produce into the storehouses; but there shall be the plunder thereof in its house: return now on this behalf, saith the Lord Almighty, see if I will not open to you the torrents of heaven, and pour out my blessing upon you, until ye are satisfied. |

| Я для вас забороню тим, що пожирають, знищувати у вас плоди земні, і виноградна лоза на полі у вас не залишиться без плодів своїх, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | And I will appoint food for you, and I will not destroy the fruit of your land; and your vine in the field shall not fail, saith the Lord Almighty. |

| І блаженними називати будуть вас усі народи, тому що ви будете землею жаданою, — говорить Господь Саваоф | And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a desirable land, saith the Lord Almighty. |
|

|
| Зухвалі переді Мною слова ваші, — говорить Господь. Ви скажете: «що ми говоримо проти Тебе?» | Ye have spoken grievous words against me, saith the Lord. Yet ye said, Wherein have we spoken against thee? |
|

|
| Ви говорите: «марне служіння Богу, і яка користь, що ми дотримувалися постанов Його і ходили у сумному одязі перед лицем Господа Саваофа? | Ye said, He that serves God labours in vain: and what have we gained in that we have kept his ordinances, and in that we have walked as suppliants before the face of the Lord Almighty? |

|
| І нині ми вважаємо гордовитих щасливими: краще влаштовують себе ті, що чинять беззаконня, і хоч спокушають Бога, але залишаються цілими». | And now we pronounce strangers blessed; and all they who act unlawfully are built up; and they have resisted God, and yet have been delivered. |
|

|
| Але ті, що бояться Бога, говорять одне одному: «слухає Господь і чує це, і перед лицем Його пишеться пам’ятна книга про тих, що бояться Господа і шанують ім’я Його». | Thus spoke they that feared the Lord, every one to his neighbour: and the Lord gave heed, and hearkened, and he wrote a book of remembrance before him for them that feared the Lord and reverenced his name. |

|
| І вони будуть Моїми, — говорить Господь Саваоф, — власністю Моєю у той день, який Я сотворю, і буду ми́лувати їх, як ми́лує людина сина свого, який служить їй. | And they shall be mine, saith the Lord Almighty, in the day which I appoint for a peculiar possession; and I will make choice of them, as a man makes choice of his son that serves him. |

|
| І тоді знову побачите різницю між праведником і нечестивим, між служителем Бога і тим, хто не служить Йому. | Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, and between him that serves God, and him that serves him not. |
|
Глава 4
|
|
|
1
|
|
| Бо ось, прийде день, що палає, як піч; тоді всі гордовиті і ті, що живуть нечестиво, будуть, як солома, і попалить їх грядущий день, — говорить Господь Саваоф, — так що не залишить у них ні кореня, ні гілок. | |
|
2
|
|
| А для вас, що благоговієте перед ім’ям Моїм, зійде Сонце правди і зцілення у променях Його, і ви вийдете і заграєте, як тельці вгодовані; | |
|
3
|
|
| і будете топтати нечестивих, бо вони будуть порохом під стопами ніг ваших у той день, який Я сотворю, — говорить Господь Саваоф. | |
|
4
|
|
| Пам’ятайте закон Мойсея, раба Мого, який Я заповів йому на Хориві для всього Ізраїля, так само як і правила й устави. | |
|
5
|
|
| Ось, Я пошлю до вас Іллю пророка перед настанням дня Господнього, великого і страшного. | |
|
6
|
|
| І він наверне серця батьків до дітей і серця дітей до батьків їхніх, щоб Я, прийшовши, не вразив землю прокляттям. |
