| И# бhсть по си1хъ, ќмре наaсъ цaрь сынHвъ ґммHнихъ, и3 воцари1сz ґмaмъ сhнъ є3гw2 вмёстw є3гw2. | And it came to pass after this, that Naas the king of the children of Ammon died, and Anan his son reigned in his stead. |

| И# речE давjдъ: сотворю2 ми1лость со ґнaномъ сhномъ наaсовымъ, ћкоже сотвори2 nтeцъ є3гw2 ми1лость со мн0ю. И# послA давjдъ послы2 на ўтэшeніе є3мY њ nтцЁ є3гw2. И# пріид0ша џтроцы давjдwвы въ зeмлю сынHвъ ґммHнихъ ко ґнaну, да ўтёшатъ є3го2. | And David said, I will act kindly toward Anan the son of Naas, as his father acted kindly towards me. And David sent messengers to condole with him on the death of his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Anan, to comfort him. |

| И# рек0ша нач†лницы сынHвъ ґммHнихъ ко ґнaну: є3дA прославлsz давjдъ nтцA твоего2 пред8 тоб0ю, послA къ тебЁ ўтBшители; никaкw: но да и3спытaютъ грaдъ и3 соглsдаютъ зeмлю, пріид0ша къ тебЁ џтроцы є3гw2. | And the chiefs of the children of Ammon said to Anan, Is it to honour thy father before thee, that David has sent comforters to thee? Have not his servants come to thee that they might search the city, and to spy out the land? |

| И# взS ґнaнъ рабHвъ давjдовыхъ, и3 њбри2 и5хъ, и3 tрёза t ри1зъ и4хъ полови1ну дaже до чрeслъ, и3 tпусти2 и5хъ. | And Anan took the servants of David, and shaved them, and cut off the half of their garments as far as their tunic, and sent them away. |

| И# пріид0ша возвэсти1ти давjду њ мужeхъ: и3 послA во срётеніе и5мъ, ћкw бhша њбезчeщени ѕэлw2. И# речE цaрь: сэди1те во їеріхHнэ, д0ндеже возрастyтъ брады6 вaшz, и3 возвратитeсz. | And there came men to report to David concerning the men: and he sent to meet them, for they were greatly disgraced: and the king said, Dwell in Jericho until your beards have grown, and return. |

| И# ви1дэша сhнове ґммw6ни, ћкw посрaмлени бhша лю1діе давjдwвы, и3 послA ґнaнъ и3 сhнове ґммw6ни тhсzщу тал†нтъ сребрA, да нaймутъ себЁ t сmрjи месопотaмски, и3 t сmрjи маaха, и3 t сyвы колесни6цы и3 к0нники: | And the children of Ammon saw that the people of David were ashamed, and Anan and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire for themselves chariots and horsemen out of Syria of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria Maacha, and from Sobal. |

| и3 наsша себЁ три1десzть двЁ тhсzщы колесни1цъ и3 царS маaха и3 людjй є3гw2: и3 пріид0ша и3 њполчи1шасz прsмw ми1давэ: и3 сhнове ґммw6ни собрaшасz t градHвъ свои1хъ и3 пріид0ша на брaнь. | And they hired for themselves two and thirty thousand chariots, and the king of Maacha and his people; and they came and encamped before Medaba: and the children of Ammon assembled out of their cities, and came to fight. |

| И# ўслhша давjдъ, и3 послA їwaва и3 всE в0инство си1льныхъ. | And David heard, and sent Joab and all the host of mighty men. |

| И# и3зыд0ша сhнове ґммw6ни и3 њполчи1шасz на брaнь при вратёхъ грaдскихъ: цaріе же пришeдшіи њполчи1шасz nс0бнw на п0ли. | And the children of Ammon came forth, and set themselves in array for battle by the gate of the city: and the kings that were come forth encamped by themselves in the plain. |

| И# ви1дэ їwaвъ, ћкw бhсть на него2 проти1вное лицE брaни сопреди2 и3 созади2, и3 и3збрA t всёхъ ю4нwшъ ї}левыхъ и3 ўстр0и и5хъ проти1ву сЂра, | And Joab saw that they were fronting him to fight against him before and behind, and he chose some out of all the young men of Israel, and they set themselves in array against the Syrian. |

| и3 њстaнокъ людjй дадE въ рyцэ брaту своемY ґвeссэ, и3 њполчи1шасz проти1ву сынHвъ ґммHнихъ. | And the rest of the people he gave into the hand of his brother Abesai, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon. |

| И# речE: ѓще ўкрэпи1тсz сЂръ пaче менє2, то2 бyдеши мнЁ во спасeніе: ѓще же сhнове ґммw6ни ўкрэпsтсz пaче тебє2, то2 ѓзъ спасy тz: | And he said, If the Syrian should prevail against me, then shalt thou deliver me: and if the children of Ammon should prevail against thee, then will I deliver thee. |

| мужaйсz, и3 ўкрэпи1мсz њ лю1дехъ нaшихъ и3 њ градёхъ бGа нaшегw, и3 гDь, є4же блaго пред8 nчи1ма є3гw2, сотвори1тъ. | Be of good courage, and let us be strong, for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord shall do what is good in his eyes. |

| И# њполчи1сz їwaвъ и3 вси2 лю1діе, и5же съ ни1мъ, проти1ву сЂрzнъ на брaнь, и3 побэг0ша t ни1хъ. | So Joab and the people that were with him set themselves in battle array against the Syrians, and they fled from them. |

| Сhнове же ґммw6ни ви1дэша, ћкw побэг0ша сЂрzне, и3 побэг0ша и3 nни2 t лицA ґвeссы и3 t лицA їwaва брaта є3гw2, и3 внид0ша во грaдъ: їwaвъ же возврати1сz во їеrли1мъ. | And the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians fled, and they also fled from before Abesai, and from before Joab his brother, and they came to the city: and Joab came to Jerusalem. |

| И# ви1дэ сЂръ, ћкw побэди2 є3го2 ї}ль, и3 послA послы2: и3 и3звед0ша сЂра, и4же бЁ за рэк0ю, сwфaкъ же первоначaлникъ тhсzщникwмъ си1лы ґдраазaровы пред8 ни1ми. | And the Syrian saw that Israel had defeated him, and he sent messengers, and they brought out the Syrians from beyond the river; and Sophath the commander-in-chief of the forces of Adraazar was before them. |

| И# возвэщeно бhсть давjду, и3 собрA вeсь ї}ль, и3 прeйде їoрдaнъ, и3 пріи1де на ни1хъ, и3 њполчи1сz проти1ву и4хъ: и3 њполчи1сz давjдъ проти1ву сЂра на брaнь и3 воевA нaнь. | And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and crossed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So David set his army in array to fight against the Syrians, and they fought against him. |

| И# ўбэжE сЂръ t лицA ї}лева, и3 ўби2 давjдъ t сЂра сeдмь тhсzщъ колесни1цъ и3 четhредесzть тhсzщъ пэшцє1въ, и3 сwфaка первоначaлника си1лы ўби2. | And the Syrians fled from before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand riders in chariots, and forty thousand infantry, and he slew Sophath the commander-in-chief of the forces. |

| И# ви1дэша раби2 ґдраазaрwвы, ћкw пад0ша t лицA ї}лева, и3 прибэг0ша къ давjду, и3 служaху є3мY: и3 не восхотЁ сЂръ помогaти сынHмъ ґммw6нимъ ктомY. | And the servants of Adraazar saw that they were defeated before Israel, and they made peace with David and served him: and the Syrians would not any more help the children of Ammon. |
