|
| Павло, раб Божий, апостол же Ісуса Христа, за вірою обраних Божих і пізнанням істини, що належить до благочестя, | Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, |
|

|
| у надії вічного життя, яке обіцяв вірний у слові Бог раніше вікових часів, | in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal; |
|

|
3
|
| а у свій час явив Своє слово в проповіді, довіреній мені за велінням Спасителя нашого, Бога, — | but in his own seasons manifested his word in the message, wherewith I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior; |
|

|
4
|
| Титові, істинному синові за спільною вірою: благодать, милість і мир від Бога Отця і Господа Ісуса Христа, Спасителя нашого. | to Titus, my true child after a common faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. |
|

|
| Для того я залишив тебе на Криті, щоб ти довершив недокінчене і поставив у всіх містах пресвітерів, як я тобі наказував: | For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that were wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I gave thee charge; |
|

|
| коли хто непорочний, чоловік однієї жінки, дітей має вірних, яких не докоряють у розпусті чи непокірності. | if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly. |
|

|
| Бо єпископ повинен бути бездоганний, як Божий управитель, не такий‚ що собі догоджає‚ не зухвалий, не гнівливий, не п’яниця, не забіяка, не користолюбець, | For the bishop must be blameless, as God’s steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; |

|
| а гостинний, благолюбний, цнотливий, справедливий, побожний, стриманий, | but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled; |
|

|

|
| який дотримується правдивого слова, згідно з вченням, щоб він мав силу й наставляти в здоровому вченні, і викривати противників. | holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers. |
|

|
| Бо є багато непокірних, марнословів і обманщиків, особливо з обрізаних, | For there are many, and they are unruly, vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision, |
|

|
11
|
| яким треба затуляти вуста: вони розбещують цілі доми, навчаючи чого не слід, заради ганебної користи. | whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. |
|

|
| З них же самих один віршотворець сказав: «Критяни завжди неправдомовці, злі звірі, черева ледачi». | One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle gluttons. |
|

|
| Свідчення це справедливе. З цієї причини викривай їх суворо, щоб вони були здорові у вірі, | This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, |
|

|
14
|
| незважаючи на юдейські байки і накази людей, які відвертаються від істини. | not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. |
|

|
15
|
| Для чистих усе чисте; а для осквернених і невірних немає нічого чистого, але осквернені і розум їхній‚ і совість. | To the pure all things are indeed pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. |
|

|
| Вони говорять, що знають Бога, а ділами відрікаються, будучи огидними і нездатними ні до якого доброго діла. | They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. |
|
Глава 2
|
Chapter 2
|
|
1
|

|
| Ти ж говори те, що згідне із здоровим вченням: | But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine: |
|

|
2
|
| щоб старі чоловіки були пильні, поважні, доброчесні, здорові у вірі, в любові, в терпіннi; | that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience: |
|
3
|
3
|
| щоб старі жінки також одягались як личить святим, не були обмовницями, не підневолювались пияцтву, вчили добра; | that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; |
|

|
4
|
| щоб наставляли молодих любити чоловіків, любити дітей, | that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, |
|
5
|
5
|
| бути доброчесними, чистими, дбайливими про дім, добрими, покірними своїм чоловікам, щоб не зневажалося слово Боже. | to be sober-minded, chaste, keepers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed: |
|

|
| Юнаків також навчай бути доброчесними. | the younger men likewise exhort to be sober-minded: |
|

|

|
| У всьому показуй собою взірець добрих діл, у навчанні чистоту, чесність, непошкодженість, | in all things showing thyself an example of good works; in thy doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, incorruptibility, |
|

|
8
|
| слово здорове, недокірливе, щоб противник був осоромлений, не маючи нічого сказати про вас поганого. | sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us. |
|

|

|
| Рабів навчай коритися своїм господарям, догоджати їм у всьому, не перечити, | Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing to them in all things; not gainsaying; |
|

|
10
|
| не красти, але виявляти всю добру вірність, щоб вони в усьому були прикрасою вчення Спасителя нашого Бога. | not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. |
|

|
11
|
| Бо благодать Божа з’явилась, спасенна для всіх людей, | For the saving grace of God hath appeared to all men, |
|
12
|
12
|
| яка вчить нас, щоб ми, відкинувши нечестя і мирські похоті, цнотливо, праведно і побожно жили в нинішньому віці, | instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; |
|
13
|
13
|
| очікуючи блаженного уповання і явлення слави великого Бога і Спасителя нашого Ісуса Христа, | looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ; |
|

|

|
| Який дав Себе за нас, щоб визволити нас від усякого беззаконня і очистити Собі людей обраних, ревних до добрих діл. | who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Це говори, наставляй і викривай зі всякою владою, щоб ніхто тобою не нехтував. | These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee. |
|
Глава 3
|
Chapter 3
|
|

|
1
|
| Hагадуй їм, щоб слухалися і корилися начальству і властям, були готові на всяке добре діло, | Put them in mind to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready unto every good work, |
|
2
|
2
|
| нікого не лихословили, були не сварливі, а тихі і виявляли всяку лагідність до всіх людей. | to speak evil of no man, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all meekness toward all men. |
|
3
|
3
|
| Бо і ми були колись нерозумними, непокірними, обманутими, рабами похотей і різних розкошів, жили в злобі та в заздрощах, були огидними, ненавиділи один одного. | For we also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. |

|
| Коли ж з’явилися благодать і людинолюбство Спасителя нашого‚ Бога, | But when the kindness of God our Savior, and his love toward man, appeared, |
|

|
5
|
| Він спас нас не за діла праведности, які б ми вчинили, а з Своєї милости, через купіль відродження і оновлення Святим Духом, | not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, |
|

6
|
| Якого щедро вилив на нас через Ісуса Христа Спасителя нашого, | which he poured out upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; |
|
7
|
7
|
| щоб, виправдавшись Його благодаттю, ми за упованням стали спадкоємцями вічного життя. | that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. |
|
8
|
8
|
| Слово це вірне; і я хочу, щоб ти підтверджував це, щоб ті, які увірували в Бога, дбали бути ревними до добрих діл: це добре і корисне людям. | Faithful is the saying, and concerning these things I desire that thou affirm confidently, to the end that they who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men: |

|
| Hерозумних же змагань‚ і родоводів, і суперечок‚ і чвар про закон уникай, бо вони некорисні і марні. | but shun foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strifes, and fightings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. |
|

|
| Єретика‚ після першого і другого напоумлення‚ цурайся, | A factious man after a first and second admonition refuse; |
|
11
|
11
|
| знаючи, що такий розбестився і грішить, будучи самозасудженим. | knowing that such a one is perverted, and sinneth, being self-condemned. |
|
12
|
12
|
| Коли пришлю до тебе Артема чи Тихика, поспіши прийти до мене в Hікополь, бо я вирішив провести там зиму. | When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, give diligence to come unto me to Nicopolis: for there I have determined to winter. |
|

|
13
|
| Законника Зину та Аполлоса потурбуйся відправити так, щоб у них ні в чому не було нестатку. | Set forward Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them. |
|
14
|
14
|
| Hехай і наші вчаться дбати про добрі діла, в задоволенні необхідних потреб, щоб не були безплідні. | And let our people also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Вітають тебе всі, що перебувають зі мною. Вітай тих, хто любить нас у вірі. Благодать з усіма вами. Амінь. | All that are with me salute thee. Salute them that love us in faith. Grace be with you all. Amen. |
