| Павло, з волі Божої апостол Ісуса Христа, за обітницею життя в Христі Ісусі, | Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus, |
|

|
2
|
| Тимофію, улюбленому синові: благодать, милість, мир від Бога Отця і Христа Ісуса, Господа нашого. | to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. |
|

|
3
|
| Дякую Богові, Якому служу від прабатьків із чистою совістю, що безперестанно згадую про тебе в молитвах моїх вдень і вночі, | I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers in a pure conscience, how unceasing is my remembrance of thee in my supplications, night and day |
|

|
4
|
| і бажаю бачити тебе, згадуючи про сльози твої, щоб мені сповнитися радістю, | longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; |
|

|
5
|
| пам’ятаючи нелицемірну віру твою, яка раніше була в бабусі твоєї Лоїди і в матері твоєї Євникії‚ впевнений, що вона і в тобі. | being reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in thee; which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and, I am persuaded, in thee also. |

| Із цієї причини нагадую тобі зігрівати дар Божий, який у тобі через покладання рук моїх. | For which cause I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee through the laying on of my hands. |
|

|
| Бо дав нам Бог духа не страху, а сили, і любови, і цнотливости. | For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline. |
|

|
8
|
| Отже, не соромся свідчення Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, ні мене, в’язня Його; але страждай з благовістям Христовим силою Бога, | Be not ashamed therefore of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but suffer hardship with the gospel according to the power of God; |
|

| Який спас нас і покликав покликом святим, не за ділами нашими, а з волі Своєї і благодаті, яка дана нам у Христі Ісусі раніш вічних часів, | who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, |

| а нині відкрилася явленням Спасителя нашого Ісуса Христа, Який зруйнував смерть і явив життя і нетління через благовістя, | but hath now been manifested by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, |
|

11
|
| для якого я поставлений проповідником, і апостолом, і вчителем язичників. | whereunto I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. |
|
12
|
12
|
| З цієї причини я і страждаю так; але не соромлюсь. Бо я знаю, в Кого увірував, і впевнений, що Він має силу зберегти передання моє на той день. | For which cause I suffer also these things: yet I am not ashamed; for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed unto him against that day. |

| Тримайся взірця здорового вчення, яке ти чув від мене, з вірою і любов’ю, в Христі Ісусі. | Hold the pattern of sound words which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. |
|

|
| Бережи добрий заповіт Духом Святим, що живе в нас. | That good thing which was committed unto thee guard through the Holy Spirit which dwelleth in us. |
|
15
|
15
|
| Ти знаєш, що всі асійські залишили мене; між ними Фігелл та Єрмоген. | This thou knowest, that all that are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. |
|

|
16
|
| Hехай дасть Господь милість дому Онисифора за те, що він багаторазово покоїв мене і не соромився кайданів моїх, | The Lord grant mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; |
|

|
17
|
| а, бувши в Римі, з великим старанням шукав мене і знайшов. | but, when he was in Rome, he sought me very diligently, and found me |
|
18
|
18
|
| Hехай дасть йому Господь знайти милість у Господа в той день; а скільки він служив мені в Ефесі, ти краще знаєш. | (the Lord grant unto him to find mercy of the Lord in that day); and in how many things he ministered at Ephesus, thou knowest very well. |
|
Глава 2
|
Chapter 2
|
|

1
|
| Отже, зміцнюйся, сину мій, у благодаті Христом Ісусом, | Thou therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. |
|
2
|
2
|
| і що чув від мене при багатьох свідках, те передай вірним людям, які були б спроможні й інших навчити. | And the things which thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. |
|
3
|
3
|
| Отже, терпи страждання‚ як добрий воїн Ісуса Христа. | Thou therefore suffer hardship, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. |
|
4
|
4
|
| Hіякий воїн не зв’язує себе з ділами житейськими, щоб догодити воєводі. | No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier. |
|

|
5
|
| А якщо хто і змагається, не одержить вінка, коли незаконно буде змагатися. | And if also a man contend in the games, he is not crowned, except he have contended lawfully. |
|

|
6
|
| Трудящому хліборобові першому належить покуштувати плодів. | The husbandman that laboreth must be the first to partake of the fruits. |
|

|
7
|
| Розумій, що я кажу. Hехай дасть тобі Господь розуміння в усьому. | Consider what I say; may the Lord indeed give thee understanding in all things. |
|

|
8
|
| Пам’ятай Господа Ісуса Христа від сімені Давидового, що воскрес із мертвих за благовістям моїм, | Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel: |
|

|
9
|
| за яке я страждаю навіть до кайданів, як злодій; але для слова Божого немає кайданів. | wherein I suffer hardship unto bonds, as a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound. |
|
10
|
10
|
| Тому я все терплю заради обраних, щоб і вони одержали спасіння в Христі Ісусі з вічною славою. | Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. |
|

|
| Вірне слово: коли ми з Hим померли, то з Hим і оживемо; | Faithful is the saying: For if we died with him, we shall also live with him: |
|
12
|
12
|
| коли терпимо, то з Hим і царювати будемо; коли відречемося, і Він відречеться від нас; | if we endure, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: |
|
13
|
13
|
| коли ми невірні, Він перебуває вірним, бо Себе зректися не може. | if we are faithless, he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. |
|
14
|
14
|
| Це нагадуй, заклинаючи перед Господом не сперечатися, що нітрохи не служить на користь, а на розлад тих, що слухають. | Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they strive not about words, to no profit, to the subverting of them that hear. |
|

|
15
|
| Старайся представити себе Богові достойним, працівником бездоганним, який вірно подає слово істини. | Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth. |
|
16
|
16
|
| А від непотрібного марнослів’я віддаляйся; бо вони ще більший успіх матимуть у нечесті, | But shun profane babblings: for they will proceed further in ungodliness, |
|
17
|
17
|
| і слово їхнє, як рак, буде розповсюджуватись. Такі є Гіменей і Филип, | and their word will eat as doth a gangrene: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; |
|
18
|
18
|
| які відступили від істини, кажучи, що воскресіння вже було, і руйнують у деяких віру. | men who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some. |
|
19
|
19
|
| Та тверда основа Божа стоїть, маючи печать цю: «Пізнав Господь Своїх»; і «Hехай відступить від неправди кожен, хто сповідує ім’я Господа». | Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let everyone that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness. |

| А у великому домі є сосуди не тільки золоті та срібні, а й дерев’яні та глиняні; і одні у почесному, а інші у низькому вживанні. | Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor. |
|

|
| Отже, хто буде чистий від цього, той буде сосудом на честь, освяченим і благопотрібним Владиці, придатним на всяке добре діло. | If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, prepared unto every good work. |
|

22
|
| Юнацьких похотей уникай, а тримайся правди, віри, любови, миру з усіма, хто кличе Господа від чистого серця. | But flee youthful lusts, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. |
|

|
| Від нерозумних та безглуздих змагань ухиляйся, знаючи, що вони породжують сварки; | But foolish and ignorant questionings refuse, knowing that they gender strifes. |
|
24
|
24
|
| раб же Господній не повинен сваритися, а бути до всіх привітним, повчальним, незлобливим, | And the Lord’s servant must not strive, but be gentle toward all, apt to teach, forbearing, |
|
25
|
25
|
| з лагідністю наставляти противників, чи не дасть їм Бог покаяння до пізнання істини, | in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth, |
|

|
26
|
| щоб вони звільнилися від тенет диявола, який упіймав їх живими у свою волю. | and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him unto his will. |
|
Глава 3
|
Chapter 3
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Знай же, що в останні дні настануть тяжкі часи. | But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. |
|
2
|
2
|
| Бо люди будуть самолюбні, сріблолюбні, зарозумілі‚ горді, лихослівні, батькам непокірні, невдячні, неправедні, недружелюбні, | For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, |
|

|
| непримиренні, нестримані, жорстокі, ненависники добра, наклепники, | without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, |
|
4
|
4
|
| зрадники, зухвалі, пихаті, більше розкошолюбні, ніж боголюбні, | traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; |
|
5
|
5
|
| що мають вигляд побожности, а сили її зреклися. Від таких віддаляйся. | holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof: from these also turn away. |
|

|
6
|
| До таких належать ті, що вкрадаються в доми і зводять жінок, які утопають у гріхах і ведені різними похотями, | For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by diverse lusts, |
|
7
|
7
|
| що завжди вчаться і ніколи не можуть дійти до пізнання істини. | ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. |
|
8
|
8
|
| Як Янній та Ямврій противилися Мойсеєві, так і ці противляться істині, люди‚ розбещені розумом, неуки у вірі. | And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith. |
|

|
9
|
| Та вони небагато встигнуть, бо їхнє безумство відкриється перед усіма, як і з тими трапилося. | But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also came to be. |
|
10
|
10
|
| А ти наслідував мене у вченні, житті, прихильності, вірі, великодушності, любові, терпінні, | But thou hast followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, patience, |
|
11
|
11
|
| у гоніннях, стражданнях, що спіткали мене в Антиохії, Іконії, Лістрах; які гоніння я переніс, і від усіх визволив мене Господь. | persecutions, sufferings; what things befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: and out of them all the Lord delivered me. |

| Та й усі, хто бажає жити побожно в Христі Ісусі, будуть гнані. | Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. |
|
13
|
13
|
| Лихі ж люди і обманщики матимуть успіх у злому, зводячи інших і себе зводячи. | But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. |
|
14
|
14
|
| А ти перебувай у тому, чого тебе навчили і що тобі довірили, знаючи, ким ти навчений. | But abide thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; |
|
15
|
15
|
| До того ж ти з дитинства знаєш Святе Писання, яке може умудрити тебе на спасіння вірою в Христа Ісуса. | and that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. |
|
16
|
16
|
| Усе Писання богодухновенне і корисне для навчання, для викривання, для виправляння, для наставляння в праведностi; | Every scripture is inspired of God, and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness: |
|
17
|
17
|
| нехай буде досконала Божа людина, до всякого доброго діла готова. | that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work. |
|
Глава 4
|
Chapter 4
|
|
1
|
1
|
| Отже, засвідчую тобі перед Богом і Господом нашим Ісусом Христом, Який буде судити живих і мертвих у явленні Його і в Царстві Його: | I charge thee therefore in the sight of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom: |
|

| проповідуй слово, наполягай вчасно і невчасно, викривай, забороняй, благай з усяким довготерпінням і повчанням, | preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching. |
|

|

|
| бо буде час, коли здорового вчення приймати не будуть, але за своїми примхами будуть обирати собі вчителів, які б тішили слух; | For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; |
|
4
|
4
|
| і від істини відвернуть слух і навернуться до байок. | and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables. |
|
5
|
5
|
| Але ти будь пильним в усьому, перенось скорботи, роби діло благовісника, виконуй служіння твоє. | But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. |
|
6
|
6
|
| Бо я вже стаю жертвою, і час мого відходу настав. | For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure is come. |
|
7
|
7
|
| Подвигом добрим я змагався, свій біг закінчив, віру зберіг; | I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith: |
|
8
|
8
|
| а тепер готується мені вінець правди, який дасть мені Господь, праведний Суддя, в той день; і не тільки мені, але і всім, що полюбили явлення Його. | henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing. |

| Постарайся прийти до мене скоро. | Give diligence to come shortly unto me: |
|

|
| Бо Димас залишив мене, полюбивши нинішній вік, і пішов до Солуня, Крискент до Галатії, Тит до Далматії; один Лука зі мною. | for Demas forsook me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. |
|

|
| Марка візьми і приведи з собою, бо він мені потрібний для служіння. | Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee; for he is useful to me for ministering. |
|

|

|
| Тихика я послав до Ефеса. | But Tychicus I sent to Ephesus. |
|
13
|
13
|
| Коли підеш, принеси фелон, який я залишив у Троаді в Карпа, і книги, особливо шкіряні. | The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, bring when thou comest, and the books, especially the parchments. |
|

|
14
|
| Олександр коваль багато зробив мені зла. Hехай віддасть йому Господь за діла його! | Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord render to him according to his works: |
|
15
|
15
|
| Стережись його і ти, бо він дуже противився нашим словам. | of whom do thou also beware; for he hath greatly withstood our words. |
|
16
|
16
|
| При першій моїй відповіді нікого не було зі мною, але всі мене залишили. Hехай не зарахується їм! | At my first defense no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account. |
|
17
|
17
|
| Господь же став переді мною і зміцнив мене, щоб через мене ствердилося благовістя і почули всі язичники; і я визволився б з левової пащі. | But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. |

| І визволить мене Господь від усякого зла і збереже для Свого Hебесного Царства, Йому слава на віки віків. Амінь. | And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. |
|

|
| Вітай Прискіллу і Акилу та дім Онисифора. | Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus. |
|
20
|
20
|
| Ераст зостався в Коринфi; Трофима ж я залишив хворого в Мілеті. | Erastus remained at Corinth: but Trophimus I left at Miletus sick. |
|
21
|
21
|
| Старайся прийти до зими. Вітають тебе Еввул‚ і Пуд, і Лин, і Клавдія‚ і всі браття. | Give diligence to come before winter. Eubulus saluteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren. |
|

22
|
| Господь Ісус Христос із духом твоїм. Благодать з вами. Амінь. | The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. |
