| І бисть, єгда́ соверши́ Ісу́с запові́дая обімана́десяте ученико́ма Свої́ма, пре́йде отту́ду учи́ти і пропові́дати во граді́х їх. | And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and preach in their cities. |

| (Зач. 40) Іоа́нн же сли́шав во узи́лищі діла́ Христо́ва, посла́ два от учени́к свої́х, | Now when John heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent two of his disciples |

| рече́ Єму́: Ти ли єси́ Гряди́й, іли́ іно́го ча́єм? | and said unto him, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another? |
|

| І отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́ ї́ма: ше́дша возвісти́та Іоа́ннові, я́же сли́шита і ви́діта; | And Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye hear and see: |

| сліпі́ї прозира́ють і хро́мії хо́дять, прокаже́ннії очища́ються і глусі́ї сли́шать, ме́ртвії востаю́ть і ни́щії благовіству́ють; | the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings preached to them. |

| і блаже́н єсть, і́же а́ще не соблазни́ться о Мні. | And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me. |
|

| Ті́ма же ісходя́щема, нача́т Ісу́с наро́дом глаго́лати о Іоа́нні: чесо́ ізидо́сте в пусти́ню ви́діти? Трость ли ві́тром коле́блему? | And as these went their way, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind? |

| Но чесо́ ізидо́сте ви́діти? Челові́ка ли в мя́гкі ри́зи облече́нна? Се, і́же м'я́гкая нося́щії, в домі́х ца́рських суть. | But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft raiment are in royal houses. |

| Но чесо́ ізидо́сте ви́діти? Проро́ка ли? Єй, глаго́лю вам, і ли́шше проро́ка. | But what went ye out to see? a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. |
|

| Сей бо єсть, о не́мже єсть пи́сано: се, Аз посила́ю а́нгела Моєго́ пред лице́м Твої́м, і́же угото́вить путь Твой пред Тобо́ю. | For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way before thee. |

| Амі́нь глаго́лю вам, не воста́ в рожде́нних жена́ми бо́лій Іоа́нна Крести́теля; мній же во Ца́рствії Небе́снім бо́лій єго́ єсть. | Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not arisen one greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. |

| От дній же Іоа́нна Крести́теля досе́лі Ца́рствіє Небе́сноє ну́диться [с ну́ждею восприє́млеться], і ну́ждници восхища́ють є; | And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and men of violence take it by force. |

| всі бо проро́ци і зако́н до Іоа́нна прореко́ша. | For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. |

|
| І а́ще хо́щете прия́ти, той єсть Ілія́ хотя́й прийти́; | And if ye are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, that is to come. |
|

|
| імі́яй у́ші сли́шати да сли́шить. | He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. |
|

| (Зач. 41) Кому́ же уподо́блю род сей? Подо́бен єсть ді́тем сідя́щим на то́ржищих і возглаша́ющим друго́м свої́м | But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the marketplaces, and calling unto their fellows, |

| і глаго́лющим: писка́хом вам, і не пляса́сте; пла́кахом вам, і не рида́сте. | and saying, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed unto you, and ye did not mourn. |
|

| При́йде бо Іоа́нн ні яди́й, ні пія́й; і глаго́лють: бі́са і́мать. | For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a demon. |
|

|
| При́йде Син Челові́чеський яди́й і пія́й; і глаго́лють: се челові́к я́дця і винопи́йця, митаре́м друг і грі́шником. І оправди́ся прему́дрость от чад свої́х. | The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! And wisdom is justified by her children. |

| (Зач. 42) Тогда́ нача́т Ісу́с поноша́ти градово́м, в ни́хже би́ша мно́жайшия си́ли Єго́, зане́ не пока́яшася; | Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not. |

| го́ре тебі́, Хорази́не, го́ре тебі́, Вифсаї́до! Я́ко а́ще в Ти́рі і Сидо́ні би́ша си́ли би́ли би́вшия в вас, дре́вле у́бо во вре́тищі і пе́пелі пока́ялися би́ша; | Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. |

| оба́че глаго́лю вам: Ти́ру і Сидо́ну отра́дніє бу́деть в день су́дний, не́же вам. | But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you. |

| І ти, Капернау́ме, і́же до небе́с вознеси́йся, до а́да сни́деши; зане́ а́ще в Содо́міх би́ша си́ли би́ли би́вшия в тебі́, преби́ли у́бо би́ша до дне́шняго дне; | And thou, Capernaum, who art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day. |

| оба́че глаго́лю вам, я́ко землі́ Содо́мстій отра́дніє бу́деть в день су́дний, не́же тебі́. | But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. |
|

| В то вре́м'я отвіща́в Ісу́с рече́: іспові́даютіся, О́тче, Го́споди небесе́ і землі́, я́ко утаї́л єси́ сія́ от прему́дрих і разу́мних і откри́л єси́ та младе́нцем; | At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes: |

| єй, О́тче, я́ко та́ко бисть благоволе́ніє пред Тобо́ю. | yea, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight. |

| (Зач. 43) Вся мні предана́ суть Отце́м Мої́м; і нікто́же зна́єть Си́на, то́кмо Оте́ць; ні Отця́ кто зна́єть, то́кмо Син, і Єму́же а́ще во́лить Син откри́ти. | All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him. |

| Прийді́те ко Мні всі тружда́ющіїся і обремене́ннії, і Аз упоко́ю ви; | Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. |

| возьмі́те і́го Моє́ на себе́ і научі́теся от Мене́, я́ко кро́ток єсьм і смире́н се́рдцем; і обря́щете поко́й душа́м ва́шим; | Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. |

| і́го бо Моє́ бла́го, і бре́м'я Моє́ легко́ єсть. | For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. |
