| У сьомий рік роби прощення. | Every seven years thou shalt make a release. |
|

|
| Прощення ж полягає в тому, щоб усякий позикодавець, який дав у борг ближньому своєму, простив борг і не стягував із ближнього свого або з брата свого, бо проголошено прощення заради Господа [Бога твого]; | And this is the ordinance of the release: thou shalt remit every private debt which thy neighbour owes thee, and thou shalt not ask payment of it from thy brother; for it has been called a release to the Lord thy God. |

| з іноземця стягуй, а що буде твоє у брата твого, прости. | Of a stranger thou shalt ask again whatsoever he has of thine, but to thy brother thou shalt remit his debt to thee. |

|
| Хіба тільки не буде в тебе жебрака: бо благословить тебе Господь на тій землі, яку Господь, Бог твій, дає тобі в наділ, щоб ти взяв її у спадщину, | For thus there shall not be a poor person in the midst of thee, for the Lord thy God will surely bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God gives thee by inheritance, that thou shouldest inherit it. |

| якщо тільки будеш слухати голосу Господа, Бога твого, і намагатися виконувати всі заповіді ці, які я сьогодні заповідаю тобі; | And if ye shall indeed hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, to keep and do all these commandments, as many as I charge thee this day, |

| бо Господь, Бог твій, благословить тебе, як Він говорив тобі, і ти будеш давати в борг багатьом народам, а сам не будеш брати в борг; і володарювати будеш над багатьма народами, а вони над тобою не будуть панувати. | (for the Lord thy God has blessed thee in the way of which he spoke to thee,) then thou shalt lend to many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee. |

| Якщо ж буде в тебе убогий хто-небудь із братів твоїх, в одній із осель твоїх, на землі твоїй, яку Господь, Бог твій, дає тобі, то не озлоби серця твого і не стисни руки твоєї перед убогим братом твоїм, | And if there shall be in the midst of thee a poor man of thy brethren in one of thy cities in the land, which the Lord thy God gives thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, neither shalt thou by any means close up thine hand from thy brother who is in want. |

| але відкрий йому руку твою і дай йому в борг, дивлячись за його нестатком, у чому він має потребу; | Thou shalt surely open thine hands to him, and shalt lend to him as much as he wants according to his need. |

| бережися, щоб не ввійшла в серце твоє беззаконна думка: «наближається сьомий рік, рік прощення», і щоб від того око твоє не зробилося немилостивим до убогого брата твого, і ти не відмовив йому; бо він заволає проти тебе до Господа, і буде на тобі [великий] гріх; | Take heed to thyself that there be not a secret thing in thine heart, an iniquity, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, draws nigh; and thine eye shall be evil to thy brother that is in want, and thou shalt not give to him, and he shall cry against thee to the Lord, and there shall be great sin in thee. |

| дай йому [і в борг дай йому, скільки він просить і скільки йому потрібно], і коли будеш давати йому, не повинно сумувати серце твоє, бо за те благословить тебе Господь, Бог твій, у всіх ділах твоїх і в усьому, що буде робитися твоїми руками; | Thou shalt surely give to him, and thou shalt lend him as much as he wants, according as he is in need; and thou shalt not grudge in thine heart as thou givest to him, because on this account the Lord thy God will bless thee in all thy works, and in all things on which thou shalt lay thine hand. |

| бо жебраки завжди будуть серед землі [твоєї]; тому я і повеліваю тобі: відкривай руку твою братові твоєму, бідному твоєму й убогому твоєму на землі твоїй. | For the poor shall not fail off thy land, therefore I charge thee to do this thing, saying, Thou shalt surely open thine hands to thy poor brother, and to him that is distressed upon thy land. |

| Якщо продасться тобі брат твій, єврей, або єврейка, то шість років повинен він бути рабом твоїм, а в сьомий рік відпусти його від себе на волю; | And if thy brother or sister, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, be sold to thee, he shall serve thee six years, and in the seventh year thou shalt send him out free from thee. |

| коли ж будеш відпускати його від себе на волю, не відпусти його з порожніми руками, | And when thou shalt send him out free from thee, thou shalt not send him out empty. |
|

| але дай йому від стад твоїх, від току твого і від точила твого: дай йому, чим благословив тебе Господь, Бог твій: | Thou shalt give him provision for the way from thy flock, and from thy corn, and from thy wine; as the Lord thy God has blessed thee, thou shalt give to him. |
|

|
| пам’ятай, що [і] ти був рабом у землі Єгипетській, і визволив тебе Господь, Бог твій, тому я сьогодні і заповідаю тобі це. | And thou shalt remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee from thence; therefore I charge thee to do this thing. |

| Якщо ж він скаже тобі: «не піду я від тебе, тому що я люблю тебе і дім твій», тому що добре йому в тебе, | And if he should say to thee, I will not go out from thee, because he continues to love thee and thy house, because he is well with thee; |

| то візьми шило і проколи вухо його до дверей; і буде він рабом твоїм навіки. Так учини і з рабою твоєю. | then thou shalt take an awl, and bore his ear through to the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever; and in like manner shalt thou do to thy maid-servant. |
|

|
| Не вважай цього для себе тяжким, що ти повинен відпустити його від себе на волю, тому що він за шість років заробив тобі вдвічі проти платні найманця; і благословить тебе Господь, Бог твій, в усьому, що будеш робити. | It shall not seem hard to thee when they are sent out free from thee, because thy servant has served thee six years according to the annual hire of a hireling; so the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all things whatsoever thou mayest do. |

| Усе первородне чоловічої статі, що народиться від великої худоби твоєї і від дрібної худоби твоєї, присвячуй Господу, Богу твоєму: не працюй на первородному волі твоєму і не стрижи первородного з дрібної худоби твоєї; | Every first-born that shall be born among thy kine and thy sheep, thou shalt sanctify the males to the Lord thy God; thou shalt not work with thy first-born calf, and thou shalt not shear the first-born of thy sheep. |

| перед Господом, Богом твоїм, щорічно з’їдай це ти і родина твоя, на місці, яке обере Господь [Бог твій]; | Thou shalt eat it before the Lord year by year in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, thou and thy house. |

| якщо ж буде на ньому вада, кульгавість або сліпота [або] інша яка-небудь вада, то не принось його в жертву Господу, Богу твоєму, | And if there be in it a blemish, if it be lame or blind, an evil blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it to the Lord thy God. |
|

| але в оселях твоїх їж його; нечистий, як і чистий, [можуть їсти,] як сарну і як оленя; | Thou shalt eat it in thy cities; the unclean in thee and the clean shall eat it in like manner, as the doe or the stag. |
|

|
| тільки крови його не їжте: на землю виливай її, як воду. | Only ye shall not eat the blood; thou shalt pour it out on the earth as water. |
