| Ось слова завіту, який Господь повелів Мойсеєві укласти із синами Ізраїлевими в землі Моавитській, крім завіту, який Господь поставив з ними на Хориві. | These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Choreb. |

| І скликав Мойсей усіх [синів] Ізраїлевих і сказав їм: ви бачили все, що зробив Господь перед очима вашими в землі Єгипетській з фараоном і всіма рабами його і всією землею його; | And Moses called all the sons of Israel and said to them, Ye have seen all things that the Lord did in the land of Egypt before you to Pharao and his servants, and all his land; |

| ті великі кари, які бачили очі твої, і ті великі знамення і чудеса, [руку міцну і могутню силу]; | the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders. |
|

|
| але до цього дня не дав вам Господь [Бог] серця, щоб розуміти, очей, щоб бачити, і вух, щоб чути. | Yet the Lord God has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day. |
|

|
| Сорок років водив вас по пустелі, і одяг ваш на вас не зітлів, і взуття твоє не зітліло на ногах твоїх; | And he led you forty years in the wilderness; your garments did not grow old, and your sandals were not worn away off your feet. |
|

| хліба ви не їли і вина і сикера не пили, щоб ви знали, що Я Господь Бог ваш. | Ye did not eat bread, ye did not drink wine or strong drink, that ye might know that I am the Lord your God. |
|

| І коли ви прийшли на місце це, виступив проти нас Сигон, цар Есевонський, і Ог, цар Васанський, щоб воювати з нами, і ми подолали їх; | And ye came as far as this place; and there came forth Seon king of Esebon, and Og king of Basan, to meet us in war. |
|

|
| і взяли землю їхню і віддали її в наділ коліну Рувимовому і Гадовому і половині коліна Манассіїного. | And we smote them and took their land, and I gave it for an inheritance to Ruben and Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasse. |
|

| Дотримуйте ж [усіх] слів завіту цього і виконуйте їх, щоб вам мати успіх у всьому, що будете робити. | And ye shall take heed to do all the words of this covenant, that ye may understand all things that ye shall do. |
|

| Усі ви сьогодні стоїте перед лицем Господа Бога вашого, начальники колін ваших, старійшини ваші, [судді ваші,] наглядачі ваші, всі ізраїльтяни, | Ye all stand to-day before the Lord your God, the heads of your tribes, and your elders, and your judges, and your officers, every man of Israel, |

| діти ваші, дружини ваші і прибульці твої, що знаходяться в стані твоєму, від того, хто коле дрова твої, до того, хто черпає воду твою, | your wives, and your children, and the stranger who is in the midst of your camp, from your hewer of wood even to your drawer of water, |

|
| щоб увійти тобі в завіт Господа Бога твого й у клятвений договір з Ним, який Господь Бог твій сьогодні укладає з тобою, | that thou shouldest enter into the covenant of the Lord thy God and into his oaths, as many as the Lord thy God appoints thee this day; |

|
| щоб зробити тебе сьогодні Його народом, і Йому бути твоїм Богом, як Він говорив тобі і як клявся батькам твоїм Аврааму, Ісааку та Якову. | that he may appoint thee to himself for a people, and he shall be thy God, as he said to thee, and as he sware to thy fathers, Abraam, and Isaac, and Jacob. |

| Не тільки з вами одними я поставляю цей завіт і цей клятвений договір, | And I do not appoint to you alone this covenant and this oath; |

| але як з тими, які сьогодні тут з нами стоять перед лицем Господа Бога нашого, так і з тими, яких немає тут з нами сьогодні. | but to those also who are here with you to-day before the Lord your God, and to those who are not here with you to-day. |
|

|
| Тому що ви знаєте, як ми жили в землі Єгипетській і як ми проходили посеред народів, через які ви пройшли, | For ye know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt, how we came through the midst of the nations through whom ye came. |
|

| і бачили мерзоти їхні й ідолів їхніх, дерев’яних і кам’яних, срібних і золотих, які у них. | And ye beheld their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are among them. |
|

|
| Нехай не буде між вами чоловіка або жінки, або роду, або коліна, серце яких ухилилося б нині від Господа Бога нашого, щоб ходити служити богам тих народів; нехай не буде між вами кореня, що вирощує отруту і полин, | Lest there be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart has turned aside from the Lord your God, having gone to serve the gods of these nations; lest there be in you a root springing up with gall and bitterness. |

| такої людини, яка, почувши слова прокляття цього, похвалялася б у серці своєму, говорячи: «я буду щасливий, незважаючи на те, що буду ходити за свавільністю серця мого»; і пропаде в такий спосіб ситий з голодним; | And it shall be if one shall hear the words of this curse, and shall flatter himself in his heart, saying, Let good happen to me, for I will walk in the error of my heart, lest the sinner destroy the guiltless with him: |

| не простить Господь такому, але негайно запалає гнів Господа і лють Його на таку людину, і впаде на нього все прокляття [завіту цього], написане в цій книзі [закону], і зітре Господь ім’я його з піднебесної; | God shall by no means be willing to pardon him, but then the wrath of the Lord and his jealousy shall flame out against that man; and all the curses of this covenant shall attach themselves to him, which are written in this book, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven. |

| і відокремить його Господь на погибель від усіх колін Ізраїлевих, згідно з усіма прокляттями завіту, написаними в цій книзі закону. | And the Lord shall separate that man for evil of all the children of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in the book of this law. |

| І скаже наступний рід, діти ваші, які будуть після вас, і чужинець, який прийде з землі далекої, побачивши поразку землі цієї і хвороби, якими виснажить її Господь: | And another generation shall say—even your sons who shall rise up after you, and the stranger who shall come from a land afar off, and shall see the plagues of that land and their diseases, which the Lord has sent upon it, |

| сірка і сіль, пожарище — вся земля; не засівається і не вирощує вона, і не виходить на ній ніяка трава, як після знищення Содома, Гоморри, Адми і Севоїма, які знищив Господь у гніві Своєму й у люті Своїй. | brimstone and burning salt, (the whole land shall not be sown, neither shall any green thing spring, nor rise upon it, as Sodom and Gomorrha were overthrown, Adama and Seboim, which the Lord overthrew in his wrath and anger:)— |

| І скажуть усі народи: за що Господь так учинив із цією землею? яка велика лють гніву Його! | and all the nations shall say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land? what is this great fierceness of anger? |

| І скажуть: за те, що вони залишили завіт Господа Бога батьків своїх, який Він уклав з ними, коли вивів їх із землі Єгипетської, | And men shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, the things which he appointed to their fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt: |

| і пішли і стали служити іншим богам і поклонятися їм, богам, яких вони не знали і яких Він не призначав їм: | and they went and served other gods, which they knew not, neither did he assign them to them. |
|

|
| за те запалав гнів Господа на землю цю, і навів Він на неї всі прокляття [завіту], написані в цій книзі [закону], | And the Lord was exceedingly angry with that land to bring upon it according to all the curses which are written in the book of this law. |
|

|
| і вивергнув їх Господь із землі їх у гніві, люті й великому обуренні, і кинув їх на іншу землю, як нині бачимо. | And the Lord removed them from their land in anger, and wrath, and very great indignation, and cast them out into another land as at present. |
|

|
| Приховане належить Господу Богу нашому, а відкрите — нам і синам нашим довіку, щоб ми виконували всі слова закону цього. | The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children for ever, to do all the words of this law. |
