| І повернули ми і вирушили в пустелю до Червоного моря, як говорив мені Господь, і багато часу ходили навколо гори Сеїра. | And we turned and departed into the wilderness, by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me, and we compassed mount Seir many days. |

| І сказав мені Господь, говорячи: | And the Lord said to me, |
|

|

|
| досить вам ходити навколо цієї гори, поверніть на північ; | Ye have compassed this mount long enough; turn therefore toward the north. |
|

|
4
|
| і народу дай повеління і скажи: ви будете проходити межі братів ваших, синів Ісавових, які живуть на Сеїрі, і вони убояться вас; але остерігайтеся | And charge the people, saying, Ye are going through the borders of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they shall fear you, and dread you greatly. |

| починати з ними війну, бо Я не дам вам землі їх ні на стопу ноги, тому що гору Сеїр Я дав у володіння Ісаву; | Do not engage in war against them, for I will not give you of their land even enough to set your foot upon, for I have given mount Seir to the children of Esau as an inheritance. |
|

|
| їжу купуйте в них за срібло і їжте; і воду купуйте в них за срібло і пийте; | Buy food of them for money and eat, and ye shall receive water of them by measure for money, and drink. |
|

|
| бо Господь, Бог твій, благословив тебе у всякій справі рук твоїх, був покровителем тобі під час подорожі твоєї по великій [і страшній] пустелі цій; ось, сорок років Господь, Бог твій, з тобою; ти ні в чому не терпів нестачі. | For the Lord our God has blessed thee in every work of thy hands. Consider how thou wentest through that great and terrible wilderness: behold, the Lord thy God has been with thee forty years; thou didst not lack any thing. |

| І йшли ми повз братів наших, синів Ісавових, які живуть на Сеїрі, шляхом рівнини, від Елафа й Ецион-Гавера, і повернули, і йшли до пустелі Моава. | And we passed by our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the way of Araba from Ælon and from Gesion Gaber; and we turned and passed by the way of the desert of Moab. |

| І сказав мені Господь: не вступай у ворожнечу з Моавом і не починай з ними війни; бо Я не дам тобі нічого від землі його у володіння, тому що Ар віддав Я у володіння синам Лотовим; | And the Lord said to me, Do not ye quarrel with the Moabites, and do not engage in war with them; for I will not give you of their land for an inheritance, for I have given Aroer to the children of Lot to inherit. |

| раніше жили там емими, народ великий, численний і високий, як сини Енакові, | Formerly the Ommin dwelt in it, a great and numerous nation and powerful, like the Enakim. |
|

|
| і вони вважалися між рефаїмами, як сини Енакові; моавитяни ж називають їх емимами; | These also shall be accounted Raphain like the Enakim; and the Moabites call them Ommin. |
|

|
| а на Сеїрі жили колись хорреї; але сини Ісавові прогнали їх і знищили їх від лиця свого й оселилися замість них — так, як вчинив Ізраїль із землею спадщини своєї, яку дав їм Господь; | And the Chorrhite dwelt in Seir before, and the sons of Esau destroyed them, and utterly consumed them from before them; and they dwelt in their place, as Israel did to the land of his inheritance, which the Lord gave to them. |

| отже, встаньте і пройдіть долину Заред. І пройшли ми долину Заред. | Now then, arise ye, said I, and depart, and cross the valley of Zaret. |
|

|
| З тих пір, як ми пішли в Кадес-Варні і як пройшли долину Заред, минуло тридцять вісім років, і в нас перевівся з середовища стану весь рід, що ходить на війну, як клявся їм Господь [Бог]; | And the days in which we travelled from Cades Barne till we crossed the valley of Zaret, were thirty and eight years, until the whole generation of the men of war failed, dying out of the camp, as the Lord God sware to them. |

| та й рука Господня була на них, щоб винищувати їх із середовища стану, поки не вимерли. | And the hand of the Lord was upon them to destroy them out of the midst of the camp, until they were consumed. |
|

16
|
| Коли ж перевелися всі, що ходять на війну, і вимерли із середовища народу, | And it came to pass when all the men of war dying out of the midst of the people had fallen, |
|

|
17
|
| тоді сказав мені Господь, говорячи: | that the Lord spoke to me, saying, |
|

|
18
|
| ти проходиш нині повз межі Моава, мимо Ара, | Thou shalt pass over this day the borders of Moab to Aroer; |
|
19
|
19
|
| і наблизився до аммонитян; не вступай з ними у ворожнечу, і не починай з ними війни, бо Я не дам тобі нічого від землі синів Аммонових у володіння, бо Я віддав її в володіння синам Лотовим; | and ye shall draw nigh to the children of Amman: do not quarrel with them, nor wage war with them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Amman for an inheritance, because I have given it to the children of Lot for an inheritance. |

| і вона вважалася землею рефаїмів; раніше жили на ній рефаїми; аммонитяни ж називають їх замзумимами; | It shall be accounted a land of Raphain, for the Raphain dwelt there before, and the Ammanites call them Zochommin. |
|

|
| народ великий, численний і високий, як сини Енакові, і знищив їх Господь перед лицем їх, і вигнали вони їх і оселилися на місці їхньому, | A great nation and populous, and mightier than you, as also the Enakim: yet the Lord destroyed them from before them, and they inherited their land, and they dwelt there instead of them until this day. |

| як Він зробив для синів Ісавових, які живуть на Сеїрі, знищивши перед лицем їх хорреїв, і вони вигнали їх, і оселилися на місці їх, і живуть до цього дня; | As they did to the children of Esau that dwell in Seir, even as they destroyed the Chorrhite from before them, and inherited their country, and dwelt therein instead of them until this day. |

| і аввеїв, які жили в селищах до самої Гази, Кафторими, що вийшли з Кафтора, знищили й оселилися на місці їх. | And the Evites who dwell in Asedoth to Gaza, and the Cappadocians who came out of Cappadocia, destroyed them, and dwelt in their room. |

| Встаньте, рушайте і перейдіть потік Арнон; ось, Я віддаю в руки твої Сигона, царя Есевонського, аморреянина, і землю його; починай оволодівати нею, і веди з ним війну; | Now then arise and depart, and pass over the valley of Arnon: behold, I have delivered into thy hands Seon the king of Esebon the Amorite, and his land: begin to inherit it: engage in war with him this day. |

| з цього дня Я почну поширювати страх і жах перед тобою на народи під усім небом; ті, які почують про тебе, затремтять і жахнуться тебе. | Begin to put thy terror and thy fear on the face of all the nations under heaven, who shall be troubled when they have heard thy name, and shall be in anguish before thee. |

| І послав я послів з пустелі Кедемоф до Сигона, царя Есевонського, зі словами мирними, щоб сказати: | And I sent ambassadors from the wilderness of Kedamoth to Seon king of Esebon with peaceable words, saying, |

|
| дозволь пройти мені землею твоєю; я піду дорогою, не зійду ні праворуч, ні ліворуч; | I will pass through thy land: I will go by the road, I will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. |
|

|
| їжу продавай мені за срібло, і я буду їсти, і воду для пиття давай мені за срібло, і я буду пити, тільки ногами моїми пройду | Thou shalt give me food for money, and I will eat; and thou shalt give me water for money, and I will drink; I will only go through on my feet: |

|
| так, як зробили мені сини Ісава, які живуть на Сеїрі, і моавитяни, які живуть в Арі, доки не перейду через Йордан у землю, яку Господь, Бог наш, дає нам. | as the sons of Esau did to me, who dwelt in Seir, and the Moabites who dwelt in Aroer, until I shall have passed Jordan into the land which the Lord our God gives us. |

| Але Сигон, цар Есевонський, не погодився дозволити пройти нам через свою землю, тому що Господь, Бог твій, озлобив дух його і серце його зробив упертим, щоб віддати його в руку твою, як це видно нині. | And Seon king of Esebon would not that we should pass by him, because the Lord our God hardened his spirit, and made his heart stubborn, that he might be delivered into thy hands, as on this day. |

| І сказав мені Господь: ось, Я починаю віддавати тобі Сигона [царя Есевонського, аморреянина,] і землю його; починай оволодівати землею його. | And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have begun to deliver before thee Seon the king of Esebon the Amorite, and his land, and do thou begin to inherit his land. |

|
| І Сигон [цар Есевонський] із усім народом своїм виступив проти нас на бій до Яаца; | And Seon the king of Esebon came forth to meet us, he and all his people to war at Jassa. |
|

|

|
| і віддав його Господь, Бог наш, [у руки наші,] і ми подолали його і синів його і весь народ його, | And the Lord our God delivered him before our face, and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people. |
|
34
|
34
|
| і взяли в той час усі міста його, і віддали закляттю всі міста, чоловіків і жінок і дітей, не залишили нікого в живих; | And we took possession of all his cities at that time, and we utterly destroyed every city in succession, and their wives, and their children; we left no living prey. |
|

|
35
|
| тільки взяли ми собі у здобич худобу їхню і захоплене у взятих нами містах. | Only we took the cattle captive, and took the spoil of the cities. |
|

|
36
|
| Від Ароера, що на березі потоку Арнона, і від міста, що на долині, до [гори] Галаада не було міста, яке було б неприступним для нас: усе віддав Господь, Бог наш, [у руки наші]. | From Aroer, which is by the brink of the brook of Arnon, and the city which is in the valley, and as far as the mount of Galaad; there was not a city which escaped us: the Lord our God delivered all of them into our hands. |

| Тільки до землі аммонитян ти не підходив, ні до місць [що лежать] біля потоку Іавока, ні до міст [які] на горі, ні до усього, до чого не повелів [нам] Господь, Бог наш. | Only we did not draw near to the children of Amman, even all the parts bordering on the brook Jaboc, and the cities in the mountain country, as the Lord our God charged us. |
