| Коли Адониседек, цар Єрусалимський, почув, що Ісус узяв Гай і піддав його закляттю, і що так само вчинив з Гаєм і царем його, як вчинив з Єрихоном і царем його, і що жителі Гаваона уклали мир [з Ісусом і] з Ізраїлем і залишилися серед них, | And when Adoni-bezec king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Gai, and had destroyed it, as he did to Jericho and its king, even so they did to Gai and its king, and that the inhabitants of Gabaon had gone over to Joshua and Israel; |

| тоді він дуже злякався, тому що Гаваон [було] місто велике, як одне з царських міст, і більше Гая, і всі жителі його люди хоробрі. | then they were greatly terrified by them, for the king knew that Gabaon was a great city, as one of the chief cities, and all its men were mighty. |

| Тому Адониседек, цар Єрусалимський, послав до Гогама, царя Хевронського, і до Фирама, царя Іармуфського, і до Яфія, царя Лахисського, і до Девира, царя Еглонського, щоб сказати: | So Adoni-bezec king of Jerusalem sent to Elam king of Hebron, and to Phidon king of Jerimuth, and to Jephtha king of Lachis, and to Dabin king of Odollam, saying, |

| прийдіть до мене і допоможіть мені уразити Гаваон за те, що він уклав мир з Ісусом і синами Ізраїлевими. | Come up hither to me, and help me, and let us take Gabaon; for the Gabaonites have gone over to Joshua and to the children of Israel. |

|
| Вони зібралися, і пішли п’ять царів аморрейських: цар Єрусалимський, цар Хевронський, цар Іармуфський, цар Лахисський, цар Еглонський, вони і все ополчення їх, і розташувалися станом біля Гаваона, щоб воювати проти нього. | And the five kings of the Jebusites went up, the king of Jerusalem, and the king of Chebron, and the king of Jerimuth, and the king of Lachis, and the king of Odollam, they and all their people; and encamped around Gabaon, and besieged it. |

| Жителі Гаваона послали до Ісуса в стан [ізраїльський], у Галгал, сказати: не відніми руки твоєї від рабів твоїх; прийди до нас скоріше, врятуй нас і подай нам допомогу; тому що зібралися проти нас усі царі аморрейські, які живуть в горах. | And the inhabitants of Gabaon sent to Joshua into the camp to Galgala, saying, Slack not thy hands from thy servants: come up quickly to us, and help us, and rescue us; for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the hill country are gathered together against us. |

| Ісус пішов з Галгала сам, і з ним весь народ, здатний до війни, і всі чоловіки хоробрі. | And Joshua went up from Galgala, he and all the people of war with him, every one mighty in strength. |
|

|
| І сказав Господь Ісусові: не бійся їх, бо Я віддав їх у руки твої: ніхто з них не устоїть перед лицем твоїм. | And the Lord said to Joshua, Fear them not, for I have delivered them into thy hands; there shall not one of them be left before you. |
|

|
| І прийшов на них Ісус раптово, [тому що] усю ніч ішов він з Галгала. | And when Joshua came suddenly upon them, he had advanced all the night out of Galgala. |
|

|
10
|
| Господь привів їх у сум’яття, коли ті побачили ізраїльтян, і вони вразили їх у Гаваоні сильною поразкою, і переслідували їх по дорозі до узвишшя Вефорона, й уражали їх до Азека і до Македа. | And the Lord struck them with terror before the children of Israel; and the Lord destroyed them with a great slaughter at Gabaon; and they pursued them by the way of the going up of Oronin, and they smote them to Azeca and to Makeda. |

| Коли ж вони бігли від ізраїльтян по схилу гори Вефоронської, Господь кидав на них з небес великі камені [граду] до самого Азека, і вони вмирали; більше було тих, які померли від каміння граду, ніж тих, яких умертвили сини Ізраїлеві мечем [у бою]. | And when they fled from the face of the children of Israel at the descent of Oronin, then the Lord cast upon them hailstones from heaven to Azeca; and they were more that died by the hailstones, than those whom the children of Israel slew with the sword in the battle. |

| Ісус воззвав до Господа в той день, в який віддав Господь [Бог] Аморрея в руки Ізраїля, коли побив їх у Гаваоні, і вони побиті були перед лицем синів Ізраїлевих, і сказав перед ізраїльтянами: стій, сонце, над Гаваоном, і місяць, над долиною Аїалонською! | Then Joshua spoke to the Lord, in the day in which the Lord delivered the Amorite into the power of Israel, when he destroyed them in Gabaon, and they were destroyed from before the children of Israel: and Joshua said, Let the sun stand over against Gabaon, and the moon over against the valley of Ælon. |

| І зупинилося сонце, і місяць стояв, доки народ мстився ворогам своїм. Чи не це написано в книзі Праведного: «стояло сонце серед неба і не поспішало до заходу майже цілий день»? | And the sun and the moon stood still, until God executed vengeance on their enemies; and the sun stood still in the midst of heaven; it did not proceed to set till the end of one day. |

| І не було такого дня ні раніше ні після того, в який Господь [так] слухав би голосу людського. Тому що Господь боровся за Ізраїля. | And there was not such a day either before or after, so that God should hearken to a man, because the Lord fought on the side of Israel. |
|

|
| Потім повернувся Ісус і весь Ізраїль з ним у стан, у Галгал. | |
|

|
16
|
| А ті п’ять царів втекли і сховалися в печері в Македі. | And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave that is in Makeda. |
|

|

|
| Коли донесено було Ісусові і сказано: «знайшлися п’ять царів, вони ховаються в печері в Македі», | And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings have been found hid in the cave that is in Makeda. |
|
18
|
18
|
| Ісус сказав: «приваліть великі камені до отвору печери і приставте до неї людей стерегти їх; | And Joshua said, Roll stones to the mouth of the cave, and set men to watch over them. |
|
19
|
19
|
| а ви не зупиняйтеся [тут], але переслідуйте ворогів ваших і знищуйте задню частину війська їх і не давайте їм ввійти в міста їх, бо Господь Бог ваш ввіддав їх у руки ваші». | But do not ye stand, but pursue after your enemies, and attack the rear of them, and do not suffer them to enter into their cities; for the Lord our God has delivered them into our hands. |

| Після того, як Ісус і сини Ізраїлеві зовсім уразили їх дуже великою поразкою, і ті з них, що залишилися, утекли в укріплені міста, | And it came to pass when Joshua and all Israel ceased destroying them utterly with a very great slaughter, that they that escaped took refuge in the strong cities. |

| весь народ повернувся в стан до Ісуса в Макед з миром, і ніхто на синів Ізраїлевих не поворухнув язиком своїм. | And all the people returned safe to Joshua to Makeda; and no one of the children of Israel murmured with his tongue. |
|

|
| Тоді Ісус сказав: відкрийте отвір печери і виведіть до мене з печери п’ятьох царів тих. | And Joshua said, Open the cave, and bring out these five kings out of the cave. |
|

|
| Так і зробили: вивели до нього з печери п’ятьох царів тих: царя Єрусалимського, царя Хевронського, царя Іармуфського, царя Лахисського і царя Еглонського. | And they brought out the five kings out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, and the king of Chebron, and the king of Jerimuth, and the king of Lachis, and the king of Odollam. |

| Коли вивели царів цих до Ісуса, Ісус покликав усіх ізраїльтян і сказав начальникам воїнів, які ходили з ним: підійдіть, наступіть ногами вашими на шиї царів цих. Вони підійшли і наступили ногами своїми на шиї їхні. | And when they brought them out to Joshua, then Joshua called together all Israel, and the chiefs of the army that went with him, saying to them, Come forward and set your feet on their necks; and they came and set their feet on their necks. |

| Ісус сказав їм: не бійтеся і не жахайтеся, будьте твердими і мужніми; бо так вчинить Господь з усіма ворогами вашими, з якими будете воювати. | And Joshua said to them, Do not fear them, neither be cowardly; be courageous and strong, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies, against whom ye fight. |

| Потім уразив їх Ісус і вбив їх і повісив їх на п’ятьох деревах; і висіли вони на деревах до вечора. | And Joshua slew them, and hanged them on five trees; and they hung upon the trees until the evening. |
|

|
| При заході сонця наказав Ісус, і зняли їх з дерев, і кинули їх у печеру, в якій вони ховалися, і привалили великі камені до отвору печери, які там навіть до цього дня. | And it came to pass toward the setting of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down from the trees, and cast them into the cave into which they had fled for refuge, and rolled stones to the cave, which remain till this day. |

| У той самий день узяв Ісус Макед, і уразив [його] мечем і царя його, і піддав закляттю їх і все, що дихає, що знаходилося в ньому: нікого не залишив, хто вцілів би [й уник]; і вчинив з царем Македським так само, як учинив з царем Єрихонським. | And they took Makeda on that day, and slew the inhabitants with the edge of the sword, and they utterly destroyed every living thing that was in it; and there was none left in it that was preserved and had escaped; and they did to the king of Makeda, as they did to the king of Jericho. |

| І пішов Ісус і всі ізраїльтяни з ним з Македа до Ливни і воював проти Ливни; | And Joshua and all Israel with him departed out of Makeda to Lebna, and besieged Lebna. |
|

|
| і віддав Господь і її в руки Ізраїля, [і взяли її] і царя її, і знищив її Ісус мечем і все, що дихає, що знаходилося в ній: нікого не залишив у ній, хто вцілів би [й уник], і вчинив з царем її так само, як учинив з царем Єрихонським. | And the Lord delivered it into the hands of Israel: and they took it, and its king, and slew the inhabitants with the edge of the sword, and every thing breathing in it; and there was not left in it any that survived and escaped; and they did to its king, as they did to the king of Jericho. |

| З Ливни пішов Ісус і всі ізраїльтяни з ним до Лахиса і розташувався біля нього станом і воював проти нього; | And Joshua and all Israel with him departed from Lebna to Lachis, and he encamped about it, and besieged it. |
|

|
| і віддав Господь Лахис у руки Ізраїля, і взяв він його на другий день, і вразив його мечем і все, що дихає, що було в ньому, [і знищив його] так, як учинив з Ливною. | And the Lord delivered Lachis into the hands of Israel; and they took it on the second day, and they put the inhabitants to death with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed it, as they had done to Lebna. |
|

|
| Тоді прийшов на допомогу Лахису Горам, цар Газерський; але Ісус уразив його і народ його [мечем] так, що нікого у нього не залишив, хто уцілів би [й уник]. | Then Elam the king of Gazer went up to help Lachis; and Joshua smote him and his people with the edge of the sword, until there was not left to him one that was preserved and escaped. |

| І пішов Ісус і всі ізраїльтяни з ним з Лахиса до Еглона і розташувалися поряд нього станом і воювали проти нього; | And Joshua and all Israel with him departed from Lachis to Odollam, and he besieged it and took it. |
|

|
| [і віддав його Господь у руки Ізраїля,] і взяли його в той самий день і вразили його мечем, і все, що дихає, що знаходилося в ньому в той день, піддав він закляттю, як учинив з Лахисом. | And the Lord delivered it into the hand of Israel; and he took it on that day, and slew the inhabitants with the edge of the sword, and slew every thing breathing in it, as they did to Lachis. |

|
| І пішов Ісус і всі ізраїльтяни з ним з Еглона до Хеврона і воювали проти нього; | And Joshua and all Israel with him departed to Chebron, and encamped about it. |
|

|
37
|
| і взяли його й уразили його мечем, і царя його, і всі міста його, і все, що дихає, що знаходилося в ньому; нікого не залишив, хто уцілів би, як учинив він і з Еглоном: піддав закляттю його і все, що дихає, що знаходилося в ньому. | And he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the living creatures that were in it; there was no one preserved: they destroyed it and all things in it, as they did to Odollam. |

| Потім обернувся Ісус і весь Ізраїль з ним до Давира і воював проти нього; | And Joshua and all Israel returned to Dabir; and they encamped about it; |
|

|
| і взяв його і царя його, і всі міста його, й уразили їх мечем, і піддали закляттю [їх і] все, що дихає, що знаходилося в ньому: нікого не залишилося, хто вцілів би; як учинив з Хевроном і царем його, так учинив з Давиром і царем його, і як учинив з Ливною і царем її. | and they took it, and its king, and its villages: and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and they destroyed it, and every thing breathing in it; and they did not leave in it any one that was preserved: as they did to Chebron and her king, so they did to Dabir and her king. |

| І вразив Ісус усю землю нагірну і полуденну, і низинні місця і землю, що лежить біля гір, і всіх царів їх: нікого не залишив, хто вцілів би, і все, що дихає, піддав закляттю, як повелів Господь Бог Ізраїлів; | And Joshua smote all the land of the hill country, and Nageb and the plain country, and Asedoth, and her kings, they did not leave of them one that was saved: and they utterly destroyed every thing that had the breath of life, as the Lord God of Israel commanded, |

| уразив їх Ісус від Кадес-Варні до Гази, і всю землю Гошен навіть до Гаваона; | from Cades Barne to Gaza, all Gosom, as far as Gabaon. |
|
42
|
42
|
| і всіх царів цих і землі їх Ісус узяв одним разом, бо Господь Бог Ізраїлів боровся за Ізраїля. | And Joshua smote, once for all, all their kings, and their land, because the Lord God of Israel fought on the side of Israel. |
|
43
|
|
| Потім Ісус і всі ізраїльтяни з ним повернулися в стан, у Галгал. |
