Глава 11	Chapter 11

Отже, питаю: «Hевже Бог відкинув народ Свій?» Зовсім ні. Бо і я ізраїльтянин із потомства Авраамового, з коліна Веніамінового.	I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Hе відкинув Бог народу Свого, який Він наперед знав. Хіба не знаєте, що говорить Писання про Іллю? Як він скаржиться Богові на Ізраїля, кажучи:	God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel, saying,

«Господи! Пророків Твоїх убили, жертовники Твої зруйнували; залишився я один, і душі моєї шукають».	Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and dug down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

Що ж говорить йому Божа відповідь? «Я залишив Собі сім тисяч чоловік, які не схилили коліна перед Ваалом».	But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have left for myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal.

Так і тепер, після обрання благодаті, зберігся останок.	Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Але якщо за благодаттю, то не за діла; інакше благодать не була б уже благодаттю. А якщо за діла, то це вже не благодать; інакше діло вже не є діло.	But if it is by grace, it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it is of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Що ж? Ізраїль, чого шукав, того не одержав; обрані ж одержали, а інші озлобилися,	What then? That which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened:

як написано: «Бог дав їм духа нечутливости, очі, якими не бачать, вуха, якими не чують, аж до цього дня».	according as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day.

І Давид говорить: «Хай буде трапеза їхньою сіттю, і тенетами, і петлею на відплату їм;	And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumbling block, and a recompense unto them:
10	10
нехай потьмаряться очі їхні, щоб не бачили; і хребет їхній нехай назавжди зігнеться».	Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow thou down their back always.

Отже, питаю: «Hевже вони спіткнулися, щоб зовсім упасти?» Зовсім ні. Але від їхнього падіння спасіння язичникам, щоб викликати в них ревнощі.	I say then, Did they stumble that they might fall? God forbid: but by their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.

Якщо ж падіння їхнє — багатство світові і занепад їхній — багатство язичникам, то тим більше повнота їхня.	Now if their fall is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness?

Вам кажу, язичникам. Як апостол язичників, я прославляю служіння моє.	For I speak to you that are Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I glorify my ministry;

Чи не збуджу ревнощів у моїх рідних по плоті і чи не спасу декого з них?	if by any means I may provoke to jealousy them that are my flesh, and may save some of them.
15	15
Бо якщо відторгнення їх є примирення світу, то чим буде прийняття їх, як не життям з мертвих?	For if the casting away of them is the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16	16
Якщо початок святий, то й ціле; і коли корінь святий, то й гілля.	And if the firstfruit is holy, so is the lump: and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

Коли ж деякі з гілок відломилися, а ти, будучи дикою оливою, прищепився на їхнє місце і став причасником кореня та соку оливи,	But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree;

то не хвалися перед гілками. Якщо ж хвалишся, то згадай, що не ти корінь підтримуєш, а корінь тебе.	glory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee.
19	19
Скажеш: «Гілки відломилися, щоб мені прищепитися».	Thou wilt say then, Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20	20
Добре. Вони відломилися невір’ям, а ти тримаєшся вірою: не величайся, але бійся.	Well; by their unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by thy faith. Be not high-minded, but fear:

Бо якщо Бог не пощадив природних гілок, то, гляди, чи пощадить і тебе.	for if God spared not the natural branches, perhaps he will also not spare thee.
22	22
Отже, бачиш і суворість Божу: суворість до тих, що відпали, а благість до тебе, якщо ти перебуватимеш у благості Божій, інакше й ти будеш відсічений.	Behold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Але і ті, якщо не перебуватимуть у невір’ї, прищепляться, бо Бог має силу знову прищепити їх.	And they also, if they continue not in their unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
24	24
Бо коли ти, відсічений від дикої за природою оливи, прищепився до доброї оливи, то тим більше ці, природні, прищепляться до своєї оливи.	For if thou wast cut out of that which is by nature a wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree; how much more shall these, which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

Бо я не хочу, щоб ви, браття, не знали цієї таємниці, — щоб ви не думали про себе, — що засліплення Ізраїля сталося частково, доки не ввійде повна кількість язичників;	For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in;

таким чином весь Ізраїль спасеться, як написано: «Прийде від Сиону визволитель і відверне нечестя від Якова.	and so all Israel shall be saved: even as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer; And he shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Такий їм від Мене заповіт, коли зніму з них гріхи їхнi».	And this is my covenant unto them, When I shall take away their sins.

Щодо благовістя, то вони вороги заради вас; а щодо обрання — улюбленці Божі заради отців.	As touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sake.

Бо дари і покликання Божі непорушні.	For the gifts and the calling of God are not repented of.
30	30
Як і ви колись противилися Богові, а нині помилувані через непокору їхню,	For as ye also in time past were disobedient to God, but now have obtained mercy by their disobedience,
31	31
так і вони тепер противляться заради вашого помилування, щоб і вони самі були помилувані.	even so have these also now been disobedient, that by the mercy shown to you they also may obtain mercy.
32	32
Бо всіх Бог тримав у непокорі, щоб усіх помилувати.	For God hath shut up all unto disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all.
33	33
О, глибино багатства, і премудрости, і розуму Божого! Які незбагненні суди Його і недослідимі путі Його!	O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

Бо хто пізнав розум Господній? Або хто був порадником Йому?	For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counselor?
35	35
Або хто дав Йому наперед, щоб Він мав віддати?	or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36	36
Бо все від Hього, Hим і для Hього, Йому слава повіки, амінь.	For of him, and through him, and unto him, are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.
