| Так сказав мені Господь: піди, купи собі лляний пояс і поклади його на стегна твої, але у воду не клади його. | Thus saith the Lord, Go and procure for thyself a linen girdle, and put it about thy loins, and let it not be put in water. |

| І я купив пояс, за словом Господа, і поклав його на стегна мої. | So I procured the girdle according to the word of the Lord, and put it about my loins. |
|

| І було до мене слово Господнє вдруге, і сказано: | And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, |

|
| візьми пояс, який ти купив, що на стегнах твоїх, і встань, піди до Євфрату і сховай його там у розщелині скелі. | Take the girdle that is upon thy loins, and arise, and go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock. |
|

|
| Я пішов і сховав його біля Євфрату, як повелів мені Господь. | So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me. |
|

|
| Коли ж минуло багато днів, сказав мені Господь: встань, піди до Євфрату і візьми звідти пояс, який Я звелів тобі сховати там. | And it came to pass after many days, that the Lord said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take thence the girdle, which I commanded thee to hide there. |

| І я прийшов до Євфрату, викопав і узяв пояс з того місця, де сховав його, і ось, пояс був зіпсований, ні до чого став не придатний. | So I went to the river Euphrates, and dug, and took the girdle out of the place where I had buried it: and, behold, it was rotten, utterly good for nothing. |

| І було до мене слово Господнє: | And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, |

| так говорить Господь: так скрушу Я гордість Іуди і велику гордість Єрусалима. | Thus will I mar the pride of Juda, and the pride of Jerusalem; |
|

|
| Цей негідний народ, який не хоче слухати слів Моїх, живе за впертістю серця свого і ходить слідом інших богів, щоб служити їм і поклонятися їм, буде як цей пояс, який ні до чого не придатний. | even this great pride of the men that will not hearken to my words, and have gone after strange gods, to serve them, and to worship them: and they shall be as this girdle, which can be used for nothing. |

| Бо, як пояс близько лежить до стегон людини, так Я наблизив до Себе весь дім Ізраїлів і весь дім Іудин, — говорить Господь, — щоб вони були Моїм народом і Моєю славою, хвалою і прикрасою; але вони не послухалися. | For as a girdle cleaves about the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave to myself the house of Israel, and the whole house of Juda; that they might be to me a famous people, and a praise, and a glory: but they did not hearken to me. |

| Тому скажи їм слово це: так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: усякий для вина міх наповнюється вином. Вони скажуть тобі: «хіба ми не знаємо, що усякий для вина міх наповнюється вином?» | And thou shalt say to this people, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and it shall come to pass, if they shall say to thee, Shall we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine? that thou shalt say to them, |

| А ти скажи їм: так говорить Господь: ось, Я наповню вином до сп’яніння усіх жителів цієї землі і царів, які сидять на престолі Давида, і священиків, і пророків і всіх жителів Єрусалима, | Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will fill the inhabitants of this land, and their kings the sons of David that sit upon their throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and Juda and all the dwellers in Jerusalem, with strong drink. |

| і скрушу їх одне об одного, і батьків і синів разом, — говорить Господь; не пощаджу і не помилую, і не пожалкую знищити їх. | And I will scatter them a man and his brother, and their fathers and their sons together: I will not have compassion, saith the Lord, and I will not spare, neither will I pity to save them from destruction. |

| Слухайте і вслуховуйтеся: не будьте горді, бо Господь говорить. | Hear ye, and give ear, and be not proud: for the Lord has spoken. |

| Воздайте славу Господу Богу вашому, доки Він ще не навів темряви, і доки ще ноги ваші не спотикаються на горах мороку; тоді ви будете очікувати світла, а Він оберне його на тінь смерти і зробить темрявою. | Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and ye shall wait for light, and behold the shadow of death, and they shall be brought into darkness. |

| Якщо ж ви не послухаєте цього, то душа моя у потаємних місцях буде оплакувати гордість вашу, буде плакати гірко, й очі мої будуть виливатися у сльозах; тому що стадо Господнє відведене буде в полон. | But if ye will not hearken, your soul shall weep in secret because of pride, and your eyes shall pour down tears, because the Lord's flock is sorely bruised. |

| Скажи цареві і цариці: смиріться, сядьте нижче, бо упав з голови вашої вінець слави вашої. | Say ye to the king and the princes, Humble yourselves, and sit down; for your crown of glory is removed from your head. |

|
| Південні міста замкнені, і нема кому відчиняти їх; Іуда весь відводиться у полон, відводиться у полон геть увесь. | The cities toward the south were shut, and there was none to open them: Juda is removed into captivity, they have suffered a complete removal. |
|

|
| Підніміть очі ваші і подивіться на тих, що йдуть з півночі: де стадо, яке дано було тобі, прекрасне стадо твоє? | Lift up thine eyes, O Jerusalem, and behold them that come from the north; where is the flock that was given thee, the sheep of thy glory? |

| Що скажеш, дочко Сиону, коли Він відвідає тебе? Ти сама привчила їх начальствувати над тобою; чи не схоплять тебе болі, як жінку, яка народжує? | What wilt thou say when they shall visit thee, for thou didst teach them lessons for rule against thyself; shall not pangs seize thee as a woman in travail? |

| І якщо скажеш у серці твоєму: «за що осягло мене це?» — За безліч беззаконь твоїх відкритий поділ у тебе, оголені п’яти твої. | And if thou shouldest say in thine heart, Wherefore have these things happened to me? Because of the abundance of thine iniquity have thy skirts been discovered, that thine heels might be exposed. |

| Чи може ефіоплянин перемінити шкіру свою і барс — плями свої? так і ви, чи можете робити добре, звикнувши робити зле? | If the Ethiopian shall change his skin, or the leopardess her spots, then shall ye be able to do good, having learnt evil. |
|

| Тому розвію їх, як порох, що розноситься вітром пустельним. | So I scattered them as sticks carried by the wind into the wilderness. |

| Ось жереб твій, відміряна тобі від Мене частина, — говорить Господь, — тому що ти забула Мене і сподівалася на неправду. | Thus is thy lot, and the reward of your disobedience to me, saith the Lord; as thou didst forget me, and trust in lies, |

| За те буде піднятий поділ твій на лице твоє, щоб відкрився сором твій. | I also will expose thy skirts upon thy face, and thy shame shall be seen; |

|
| Бачив Я перелюбство твоє і шалену похіть твою, твої непотребства і твої мерзоти на пагорбах у полі. Горе тобі, Єрусалиме! ти і після цього не очистишся. Доки ж? | thine adultery also, and thy neighing, and the looseness of thy fornication: on the hills and in the fields I have seen thine abominations. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, for thou hast not been purified so as to follow me; how long yet shall it be? |
