| Слухайте слово, яке Господь говорить вам, доме Ізраїлів. | Hear ye the word of the Lord, which he has spoken to you, O house of Israel. |

| Так говорить Господь: не вчіться шляхів язичників і не страшіться знамень небесних, яких язичники страшаться. | Thus saith the Lord, Learn ye not the ways of the heathen, and be not alarmed at the signs of the sky; for they are alarmed at them, falling on their faces. |
|

|
| Бо устави народів — порожнеча: зрубують дерево у лісі, обробляють його руками теслі за допомогою сокири, | For the customs of the nations are vain; it is a tree cut out of the forest, the work of the carpenter, or a molten image. |

|
| покривають сріблом і золотом, прикріплюють цвяхами і молотом, щоб не хиталося. | They are beautified with silver and gold, they fix them with hammers and nails; |
|

|
| Вони — як обточений стовп, і не говорять; їх носять, тому що ходити не можуть. Не бійтеся їх, тому що вони не можуть заподіяти зла, але і добра робити не в силах. | they will set them up that they may not move; it is wrought silver, they will not walk, |
|

|
| Немає подібного до Тебе, Господи! Ти великий, і ім’я Твоє велике могутністю. | |
|

|
|
| Хто не убоїться Тебе, Царю народів? бо Тобі єдиному належить це; тому що між усіма мудрецями народів і в усіх царствах їх немає подібного до Тебе. | |
|

|
|
| Усі до одного вони безглузді і дурні; пусте вчення — це дерево. | |
|

|
| Розбите на листи срібло привезене з Фарсиса, золото — з Уфаза, справа художника і рук плавильника; одяг на них — гіацинт і пурпур: усе це — справа людей майстерних. | it is forged silver brought from Tharsis, gold will come from Mophaz, and the work of goldsmiths: they are all the works of craftsmen, they will clothe themselves with blue and scarlet. |

| А Господь Бог є істина; Він є Бог живий і Цар вічний. Від гніву Його тремтить земля, і народи не можуть витримати обурення Його. | |

|
| Так говоріть їм: боги, які не створили неба і землі, зникнуть з землі і з-під небес. | Thus shall ye say to them, Let the gods which have not made heaven and earth perish from off the earth, and from under this sky. |
|

|
| Він створив землю силою Своєю, утвердив вселенну мудрістю Своєю і розумом Своїм розпростер небеса. | It is the Lord that made the earth by his strength, who set up the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the sky, |
|

| За гласом Його шумлять води на небесах, і Він піднімає хмари від країв землі, творить блискавки серед дощу і виводить вітер зі сховищ Своїх. | and set abundance of waters in the sky, and brought up clouds from the ends of the earth; he made lightnings for the rain, and brought forth light out of his treasures. |

| Безумствує усяка людина у своєму знанні, осоромлює себе всякий плавильник ідолом своїм, тому що виплавлене ним є неправда, і немає у ньому духу. | Every man is deprived of knowledge, every goldsmith is confounded because of his graven images; for he has cast false gods, there is no breath in them. |

| Це повна порожнеча, справа омани; під час відвідування їх вони зникнуть. | They are vain works, wrought in mockery; in the time of their visitation they shall perish. |

| Не така, як їх, доля Якова; бо Бог його є Творець усього, й Ізраїль є жезл насліддя Його; ім’я Його — Господь Саваоф. | Such is not the portion of Jacob; for he that formed all things, he is his inheritance; the Lord is his name. |

| Забирай із землі майно твоє, ти, що маєш сидіти в облозі; | He has gathered thy substance from without that lodged in choice vessels. |
|

|
| бо так говорить Господь: ось, Я викину жителів цієї землі цього разу і зажену їх у тісне місце, щоб схопили їх. | For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will overthrow the inhabitants of this land with affliction, that thy plague may be discovered. |
|

| Горе мені у моєму скрушенні; болісна рана моя, але я говорю сам у собі: «справді, це моя скорбота, і я буду нести її; | Alas for thy ruin! thy plague is grievous: and I said, Surely this is thy wound, and it has overtaken thee. |
|

| намет мій спустошений, і всі мотузки мої порвані; діти мої пішли від мене, і немає їх: нема кому вже розкинути шатро моє і розвісити килими мої, | Thy tabernacle is in a ruinous state, it has perished; and all thy curtains have been torn asunder: my children and my cattle are no more: there is no more any place for my tabernacle, nor place for my curtains. |

| бо пастирі зробилися безглуздими і не шукали Господа, а тому вони і чинили нерозумно, і все стадо їх розсіяне». | For the shepherds have become foolish, and have not sought the Lord; therefore the whole pasture has failed, and the sheep have been scattered. |
|

| Несеться чутка: ось вона йде, і великий шум від країни північної, щоб міста Юдеї зробити пустелею, житлом шакалів. | Behold, there comes a sound of a noise, and a great earthquake from the land of the north, to make the cities of Juda a desolation, and a resting-place for ostriches. |

| Знаю, Господи, що не у волі людини путь її, що не у владі того, хто йде, давати напрямок стопам своїм. | I know, O Lord, that man's way is not his own; neither shall a man go, and direct his going. |
|

|
| Карай мене, Господи, але за правдою, не у гніві Твоєму, щоб не принизити мене. | Chasten us, O Lord, but with judgment; and not in wrath, lest thou make us few. |
|
25
|
25
|
| Вилий лють Твою на народи, які не знають Тебе, і на племена, які не прикликають імені Твого; бо вони з’їли Якова, пожерли його і знищили його, і житло його спустошили. | Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that have not known thee, and upon the families that have not called upon thy name: for they have devoured Jacob, and consumed him, and have made his pasture desolate. |
