| Тому і ми, маючи довкола себе таку хмару свідків, скиньмо з себе всякий тягар і гріх, який нас обплутує‚ і з терпінням підемо на подвиг‚ який чекає на нас, | Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, |

| дивлячись на Начальника і Виконавця віри Ісуса, Який замість радости, яка Йому належала, витерпів хрест, зневаживши посоромлення, і сів праворуч престолу Божого. | looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. |

| Подумайте про Того, Хто перетерпів таку над Собою наругу від грішників, щоб вам не знемогтися і не ослабнути душами вашими. | For consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls. |

| Ви ще не до крови стояли, проти гріха змагаючись, | Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin: |
|

|
| і забули втішення, яке пропонується вам, як синам: «Сину мій, не нехтуй покаранням Господнім і не сумуй, коли він викриває тебе, | and ye have forgotten the exhortation which reasoneth with you as with sons, My son, regard not lightly the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when thou art reproved of him; |

| бо Господь, кого любить, того карає; б’є кожного сина, якого приймає». | For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, And scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. |

| Якщо ви терпите кару, то Бог поводиться з вами, як із синами. Бо хіба є який син, якого не карав би батько? | If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father chasteneth not? |
|

|
| Коли залишаєтеся без покарання, для всіх загального, то ви діти незаконні, а не сини. | But if ye are without chastening, whereof all have been made partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. |
|

| До того ж коли ми, будучи карані плотськими батьками нашими, боялися їх, то чи не значно більше повинні покоритись Отцеві духів, щоб жити? | Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? |

| Ті карали нас, як знали, на небагато днів; а Цей — на користь, щоб нам мати участь у святості Його. | For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. |

| Кожна кара здається спочатку не радістю, а смутком, але потім навченим через неї дає мирний плід праведности. | Now all chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness. |

| Отже, зміцніть опущені руки та ослаблені коліна | Wherefore lift up the hands that hang down, and the palsied knees; |
|

| і ходіть просто ногами вашими, щоб кульгаве не збочило, а краще виправилося. | and make straight paths for your feet, that that which is lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed. |
|

|
| Намагайтеся мати мир з усіма і святість, без якої ніхто не побачить Господа. | Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord: |
|

|
| Пильнуйте, щоб хто не позбувся благодаті Божої, щоб якийсь гіркий корінь, що виріс, не завдав шкоди і щоб ним багато хто не осквернився; | looking carefully lest there be any man that falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; |

| щоб не було між вами якого блудника або нечестивця, який би, як Ісав, за одну лише їжу відмовився від свого первородства. | lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one mess of meat sold his birthright. |
|

| Бо ви знаєте, що після того він, бажаючи успадкувати благословення, був відкинутий: не знайшов можливости для покаяння‚ хоча зі сльозами шукав його. | For ye know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind in his father, though he sought it diligently with tears. |

| Ви приступили не до гори, відчутної на дотик‚ і не до палючого вогню, не до темряви і мороку та бурі, | For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, |

| не до звуку сурми й голосу слів, що ті, які чули його‚ просили‚ щоб більше не мовилося слово до них, | and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard entreated that no word more should be spoken unto them; |
|

| бо вони не могли стерпіти того, що було заповідано: «Якщо і звір доторкнеться до гори, буде побитий камінням або уражений стрілою»; | for they could not endure that which was enjoined, If even a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned; |
|

| і таке жахливе було це видіння, що і Мойсей сказав: «Я настрашений і тремчу». | and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake: |
|

| Але ви приступили до гори Сиону і до міста Бога Живого, до Єрусалима небесного і до безлічі ангелів, | but ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels, |
|

|
| до торжества собору й Церкви первородних, на небесах написаних, і до Судді всіх — Бога, і до духів праведників досконалих; | to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, |
|

|
| і до Посередника Завіту Нового Ісуса, та до крови кроплення, яка говорить краще, ніж Авелева. | and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than that of Abel. |
|

| Глядіть‚ отже‚ не зречіться того‚ хто промовляє‚ бо не уникли кари вони‚ що зреклися того‚ хто пророкував на землі, тим більше не уникнемо ми, якщо відвернемось від Того, Хто говорить з небес, | See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven: |

| голос Якого тоді похитнув землю, нині ж обіцяє‚ говорячи: «Ще раз потрясу не тільки землю, але й небо». | whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven. |
|

| Оте «ще раз» означає заміну похитнутого, як створеного, щоб перебувало непохитне. | And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain. |
|

| Отже, ми, приймаючи царство непохитне, охороняймо благодать, якою будемо служити благоугодно Богові з побожністю і страхом, | Wherefore, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we offer service well-pleasing to God with reverence and godly fear: |

| тому що Бог наш — вогонь‚ що поїдає. | for our God is also a consuming fire. |
