Глава 6	Chapter 6

Тому, залишивши початки вчення Христового, поспішаймо до довершеностi; і не будемо знову класти основу поверненню від мертвих діл і віри в Бога,	Wherefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

вченню про хрещення та покладання рук, про воскресіння мертвих і про суд вічний.	of the teaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

І це зробимо, якщо Бог дозволить.	And this let us do, if God permit.

Бо неможливо — тих‚ що один раз просвітилися‚ і прийняли дар небесний‚ і стали причасниками Духа Святого,	For as touching those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,

і скуштували доброго слова Божого, і сили майбутнього віку,	and tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come,

і відпали, знову обновляти покаянням, коли вони знову розпинають у собі Сина Божого і зневажають Його.	and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Земля, що п’є дощ, який часто падає на неї, та вирощує рослину, корисну тим, для кого вона обробляється, дістає благословення від Бога;	For the land which hath drunk the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receiveth blessing from God:

а та, на якій ростуть терня й будяки, негідна і близька до прокляття, кінець якого — спалення.	but if it beareth thorns and thistles, it is rejected and nigh unto a curse; whose end is to be burned.

Втім, щодо вас, улюблені, ми сподіваємося, що ви у кращому стані і дотримуєтеся спасіння, хоча й говоримо так.	But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak:

Бо Бог не є неправедний, щоб забув діло ваше і труд любови, яку ви виявили в ім’я Його, послуживши і служачи святим.	for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the labor of love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still do minister.

Бажаємо ж, щоб кожен із вас, для повної впевнености в надії, виявляв таку саму старанність до кінця,	And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence unto the fullness of hope even to the end:

щоб ви не розлінились, а наслідували тих, які вірою та довготерпінням успадковують обітниці.	that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Бог, даючи обітницю Авраамові, оскільки не міг ніким вищим клястися, клявся Самим Собою,	For when God made promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he sware by himself,

кажучи: «Істинно благословляючи, благословлю тебе і, розмножуючи, розмножу тебе».	saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

І так Авраам, завдяки довготерпінню, одержав обіцяне.	And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

Люди клянуться вищим, і клятва на запевнення закінчує всяку суперечку їхню.	For men indeed swear by the greater: and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.

Тому і Бог, бажаючи істотніше показати спадкоємцям обітниці незмінність Своєї волі, вжив клятву,	Wherein God, being minded to show more abundantly unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath;

щоб у двох непохитних речах, у яких Бог не міг говорити неправду, тверде утішення мали ми, що прийшли взятися за подану надію,	that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:

яка для душі є неначе якір безпечний і міцний і входить аж до середини за завісу,	which we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil;
20	20
куди предтечею за нас увійшов Ісус, зробившись Первосвящеником навік за чином Мелхиседековим.	whither as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
