Chapter 15	Глава 15

And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, saying, Except ye be circumcised after the custom of Moses, ye cannot be saved.	Деякі, прийшовши з Юдеї, учили братів: «Якщо не обріжетесь за обрядом Мойсеєвим, не можете спастися».

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and questioning with them, the brethren appointed that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.	Коли ж виникла незгода і чимале змагання Павла та Варнави з ними, то постановили, щоб Павло і Варнава і дехто інший з них пішли в цій справі до апостолів і пресвітерів у Єрусалим.

They therefore, being brought on their way by the church, passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.	Отже, послані церквою, вони проходили через Фінікію та Самарію, розповідаючи про навернення язичників, і творили велику радість усім браттям.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church and the apostles and the elders, and they rehearsed all things that God had done with them.	Прийшовши до Єрусалима, вони були прийняті церквою, апостолами і пресвітерами і сповістили про все, що Бог учинив з ними і як відкрив двері віри язичникам.

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, It is needful to circumcise them, and to charge them to keep the law of Moses.	Тоді встали деякі з фарисейської єресі, які увірували, і говорили, що треба обрізувати язичників та заповісти їм додержувати закон Мойсеїв.

And the apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider of this matter.	Апостоли й пресвітери зібралися для розгляду цієї справи.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Brethren, ye know that a good while ago God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.	Після тривалого обговорення Петро встав і сказав їм: «Мужі-браття! Ви знаєте, що Бог із перших днів обрав з-поміж нас мене, щоб із моїх уст язичники почули слово Євангелія і увірували;

And God, who knoweth the heart, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us;	і Серцезнавець Бог засвідчив їм, давши їм Духа Святого, як і нам;

and he made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.	і не поклав ніякої різниці між нами і ними, вірою очистивши серця їхні.

Now therefore why make ye trial of God, that ye should put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?	Що ж ви нині спокушаєте Бога, бажаючи покласти на шию учеників ярмо, яке ні батьки наші, ні ми не могли понести?

But we believe that we shall be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in like manner as they.	Але ми віруємо, що благодаттю Господа Ісуса Христа спасемось, як і вони».

And all the multitude kept silence; and they hearkened unto Barnabas and Paul rehearsing what signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles through them.	Тоді замовкли всі, що зібралися, і слухали Варнаву і Павла, які розповідали про знамення й чудеса, створені Богом через них серед язичників.

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Brethren, hearken unto me:	Коли ж вони замовкли, почав говорити Яків і сказав: «Мужі-браття! Послухайте мене.

Simeon hath rehearsed how first God visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.	Симон розповів, як Бог спершу зглянувся на язичників, щоб зібрати з них народ в ім’я Своє.

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,	І з цим згідні слова пророків, як написано:

After these things I will return, And I will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen; And I will build again the ruins thereof, And I will set it up:	«Потім повернуся і відбудую скинію Давидову, що впала, і те, що в ній зруйноване, відновлю і виправлю її,

That the residue of men may seek after the Lord, And all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, Saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.	щоб шукали Господа інші люди і всі народи, серед яких звіститься ім’я Моє», — говорить Господь, Який творить усе це.

Known unto God from of old are all his works.	Відомі Богові споконвіку всі діла його.

Wherefore my judgment is, that we trouble not them that from among the Gentiles turn to God;	Тому, я гадаю, не треба перешкоджати язичникам, які навертаються до Бога,
20	20
but that we write unto them, that they abstain from the pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood.	а написати їм, щоб вони утримувалися від оскверненого ідолами, від блуду, задушенини і крови і щоб не робили іншим того, чого не бажають собі.

For Moses from generations of old hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath.	Бо закон Мойсеїв з давніх родів має по всіх містах тих, які проповідують його‚ і читається в синагогах кожної суботи».

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas who was surnamed Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:	Тоді апостоли і пресвітери з усією церквою розсудили, обравши з свого середовища мужів, послати їх до Антиохії з Павлом і Варнавою, а саме: Іуду, прозваного Варсавою, та Силу, мужів, які начальствували між браттями,

and they wrote thus by them, The apostles and the elders and the brethren, unto the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greeting:	написавши і вручивши їм таке: «Апостоли, і пресвітери і браття — браттям з язичників, які знаходяться в Антиохії, Сирії та Киликії: радійте.

Forasmuch as we have heard that certain who went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying that ye must be circumcised and keep the law; to whom we gave no commandment;	Оскільки ми почули, що деякі, що вийшли від нас, стурбували вас своїми словами і похитнули ваші душі, кажучи, що треба обрізуватися і дотримувати закон, чого ми їм не доручали,

it seemed good unto us, having come to one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,	то ми, зібравшись, однодушно розсудили: обрати мужів і послати їх до вас з улюбленими нашими Варнавою і Павлом,

men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.	чоловіками, які віддали душі свої за Ім’я Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves also shall tell you the same things by word of mouth.	Отже, ми послали Юду та Силу, котрі пояснять вам те саме і словами.

For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:	Бо вгодно Святому Духові і нам не покладати на вас більше ніякого тягаря, крім цього необхідного:

that ye abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication; from which if ye keep yourselves, it shall be well with you. Fare ye well.	утримуватися від ідоложертовного, і крови, і задушенини, і блуду і не робити іншим того, чого собі не бажаєте. Дотримуючись цього, добре зробите. Будьте здорові!»

So they, when they were dismissed, came to Antioch; and having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle.	Отже, посланці прийшли до Антиохії і, зібравши людей, вручили послання.

And when they had read it, they rejoiced for the consolation.	Вони ж, прочитавши, зраділи цьому повчанню.

And Judas and Silas, being themselves also prophets, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.	Іуда і Сила, будучи самі пророками, щедрими словами наставляли братію і утвердили її.

And after they had spent some time there, they were dismissed in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.	Пробувши там якийсь час, вони з миром були відпущені браттями до апостолів.

But Paul and Barnabas tarried in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.	Павло ж і Варнава жили в Антиохії, навчаючи і благовістячи разом з багатьма іншими слово Господнє.

And after some days Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us return now and visit our brethren in every city wherein we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they fare.	Через деякий час Павло сказав Варнаві: «Ходімо знов і відвідаємо братів наших по всіх містах, де ми проповідували слово Господнє, як вони живуть».

And Barnabas was minded to take with them John, who was called Mark.	Варнава ж захотів узяти з собою Іоана, званого Марком,

But Paul thought not good to take with them him who withdrew from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.	але Павло вважав, що не слід брати з собою того, хто відстав від них у Памфилії і не пішов з ними на діло, на яке вони були послані.

There arose therefore a sharp contention, so that they parted asunder one from the other, and Barnabas took Mark with him, and sailed away unto Cyprus:	Це призвело до незгоди, так що вони розлучилися один з одним; і Варнава, взявши Марка, відплив до Кіпру;

but Paul chose Silas, and went forth, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God.	а Павло, обравши собі Силу, пішов, ввірений братією благодаті Божій,

And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.	і проходив через Сирію і Киликію, утверджуючи церкви.
