Chapter 8	Глава 8

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.	Савл же схвалював убивство його. Того дня сталося велике гоніння на церкву в Єрусалимi; і всі, крім апостолів, розсіялися по різних місцях Юдеї та Самарії.

And devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him.	Стефана ж поховали люди побожні і вчинили великий плач по ньому.

But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison.	А Савл нищив Церкву; ходив по домах, тягнув чоловіків та жінок і віддавав їх до в’язниці.

They therefore that were scattered abroad went about preaching the word.	Ті ж, що розсіялися, ходили і благовістили слово.

And Philip went down to a city of Samaria, and proclaimed unto them the Christ.	Так, Филип прийшов у самарійське місто і проповідував їм Христа.

And the multitudes gave heed with one accord unto the things that were spoken by Philip, when they heard, and saw the signs which he did.	Hарод однодушно слухав те, що говорив Филип; чув і бачив чудеса, які він творив.

For from many of those that had unclean spirits, they came out, crying with a loud voice: and many that were palsied, and that were lame, were healed.	Бо нечисті духи з багатьох, хто мав їх, виходили з великим криком, а чимало розслаблених і кривих зцілялося.

And there was great joy in that city.	І була велика радість у тому місті.

But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who beforetime in the city used sorcery, and amazed the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:	Перебував же в місті один чоловік на ім’я Симон, який раніш волхвував і дивував самарійський народ, видаючи себе за якогось великого.

to whom they gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.	Його слухали всі, від малого до великого, кажучи: «Цей є велика сила Божа».

And they gave heed to him, because that of long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.	А слухали його тому, що він довгий час дивував їх волхвуванням.

But when they believed Philip preaching the good tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.	Коли ж повірили Филипові, який благовістив про Царство Боже та про ім’я Ісуса Христа, то хрестились і чоловіки і жінки.

And Simon also himself believed: and being baptized, he continued with Philip; and beholding miracles and signs wrought, he was amazed.	Увірував і сам Симон і, охрестившись, не відходив від Филипа; і, побачивши великі чудеса й знамення, що творилися, дивувався.

Now when the apostles that were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:	Коли почули апостоли, які були в Єрусалимі, що Самарія прийняла слово Боже, послали до них Петра та Іоана,

who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit:	котрі, прийшовши, помолилися за них, щоб вони прийняли Духа Святого.

for as yet it was fallen upon none of them: only they had been baptized into the name of Christ Jesus.	Бо Він не сходив ще на жодного з них, а тільки були вони охрещені в ім’я Господа Ісуса.

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.	Тоді поклали руки на них, і вони прийняли Духа Святого.

Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,	Симон же, побачивши, що через покладання рук апостольських подається Дух Святий, приніс їм гроші,

saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.	кажучи: «Дайте й мені таку владу, щоб той, на кого я покладу руки, одержував Духа Святого».

But Peter said unto him, Thy silver perish with thee, because thou hast thought to obtain the gift of God with money.	Але Петро сказав йому: «Hехай срібло твоє буде з тобою на погибель, бо ти помислив дістати дар Божий за гроші.

Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right before God.	Hема для тебе в цьому ні частки, ні уділу; бо серце твоє неправдиве перед Богом.

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thy heart shall be forgiven thee.	Отже, покайся у цьому гріху твоєму і благай Бога, щоб відпустив тобі помисел серця твого;

For I see that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.	бо бачу тебе повного жовчі гіркої і в путах неправди».

And Simon answered and said, Pray ye for me to the Lord, that none of the things which ye have spoken come upon me.	Симон же сказав у відповідь: «Помоліться за мене до Господа, щоб мене ніщо не спіткало із сказаного вами».

They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.	Вони ж, засвідчивши та проповідавши слово Господнє, поверталися до Єрусалима і в багатьох самарійських селах проповідували Євангеліє.

But an angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza: the same is desert.	А Филипові ангел Господній сказав: «Устань та йди на південь, на дорогу, що йде з Єрусалима в Газу; вона безладна».

And he arose and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship;	Він устав і пішов. І ось чоловік ефіопський, євнух, вельможа Кандакії, цариці ефіопської, хранитель усіх її скарбів, який приїжджав до Єрусалима на поклоніння,

and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.	повертався і, сидячи на своїй колісниці, читав пророка Ісаю.

And the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.	Дух сказав Филипові: «Підійди і пристань до цієї колісницi».

And Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?	Филип підійшов і, почувши, що він читає пророка Ісаю, сказав: «Чи розумієш, що читаєш?»

And he said, How can I, except someone shall guide me? And he besought Philip to come up and sit with him.	Він сказав: «Як можу розуміти, коли ніхто не настановить мене?» І попросив Филипа піднятися і сісти з ним.

Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth:	А місце з Писання, яке він читав, було таке: «Як вівцю на заклання, ведено Його, і, як ягня перед тим, хто стриже його, мовчить, так і Він не відкриває уст Своїх.

In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: And who shall declare his generation? For his life is taken from the earth.	У приниженні Його суд Його відбувся. Але про рід Його хто розповість? Бо береться із землі життя Його».

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other?	І казав євнух Филипові: «Прошу тебе сказати: про кого пророк говорить це? Про себе чи про когось іншого?»

And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this scripture, preached unto him Jesus.	Филип відкрив уста свої і, почавши з цього Писання, благовістив йому про Ісуса.

And as they went on the way, they came unto a certain water; and the eunuch saith, Behold, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?	Тим часом, продовжуючи путь, вони приїхали до води, і євнух сказав: «Ось вода. Що перешкоджає мені хреститись?»

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.	І наказав зупинити колісницю; і ввійшли обидва у воду, Филип і євнух; і охрестив [він] його.

And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, for he went on his way rejoicing.	Коли ж вони вийшли з води, Дух Святий зійшов на євнуха, а Филипа возніс ангел Господній, і євнух уже не бачив його, і поїхав дорогою своєю, радіючи.

But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached the gospel to all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.	Филип же опинився в Азоті і, проходячи, благовістив усім містам, аж поки прийшов до Кесарії.
