| І сказав Господь Мойсеєві у пустелі Синайській, у скинії зібрання, у перший [день] другого місяця, у другий рік після виходу їх із землі Єгипетської, говорячи: | And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying, |

| підрахуйте всю громаду синів Ізраїлевих за родами їх, за сімействами їх, за числом імен, усіх чоловічої статі поголовно: | Take the sum of all the congregation of Israel according to their kindreds, according to the houses of their fathers' families, according to their number by their names, according to their heads: every male |

| від двадцяти років і вище, усіх придатних для війни у Ізраїля, за ополченнями їх порахуйте їх — ти й Аарон; | from twenty years old and upwards, every one that goes forth in the forces of Israel, take account of them with their strength; thou and Aaron take account of them. |

| з вами повинні бути з кожного коліна по одній людині, яка в роді своєму є головною. | And with you there shall be each one of the rulers according to the tribe of each: they shall be according to the houses of their families. |

|
| І ось імена чоловіків, що будуть з вами: від Рувима Елицур, син Шедеура; | And these are the names of the men who shall be present with you; of the tribe of Ruben, Elisur the son of Sediur. |

| від Симеона Шелумиїл, син Цуришаддая; | Of Symeon, Salamiel the son of Surisadai. |
|

|
| від Іуди Наассон, син Аминадава; | Of Juda, Naasson the son of Aminadab. |
|

|
| від Іссахара Нафанаїл, син Цуара; | Of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Sogar. |

| від Завулона Елиав, син Хелона; | Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Chælon. |
|

|
| від синів Йосифа: від Єфрема Елишама, син Аммиуда; від Манассії Гамалиїл, син Педацура; | Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Emiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadasur. |

| від Веніаміна Авидан, син Гидеонія; | Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gadeoni. |
|

| від Дана Ахиєзер, син Аммишаддая; | Of Dan, Achiezer the son of Amisadai. |

| від Асира Пагиїл, син Охрана; | Of Aser, Phagaiel the son of Echran. |

| від Гада Елиасаф, син Регуїла; | Of Gad, Elisaph the son of Raguel. |

| від Неффалима Ахира, син Енана. | Of Nephthali, Achire the son of Ænan. |

| Це — обрані мужі суспільства, начальники колін батьків своїх, глави тисяч Ізраїлевих. | These were famous men of the congregation, heads of the tribes according to their families: these are heads of thousands in Israel. |

|
| І взяв Мойсей і Аарон мужів, які названі поіменно, | And Moses and Aaron took these men who were called by name. |
|

|
| і зібрали вони всю громаду в перший [день] другого місяця. І оголосили вони родоводи свої, за родами їх, за сімействами їх, за числом імен, від двадцяти років і вище, поголовно, | And they assembled all the congregation on the first day of the month in the second year; and they registered them after their lineage, after their families, after the number of their names, from twenty years old and upwards, every male according to their number: |

| як повелів Господь Мойсеєві. І зробив він підрахунок їм у пустелі Синайській. | as the Lord commanded Moses, so they were numbered in the wilderness of Sina. |

| І було синів Рувима, первістка Ізраїлевого, за родами їх, за племенами їх, за сімействами їх, за числом імен, поголовно, всіх чоловічої статі, від двадцяти років і вище, усіх придатних для війни, | And the sons of Ruben the first-born of Israel according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their heads, were—all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that went out with the host— |

| Синів Гада за родами їх, за племенами їх, за сімействами їх, за числом імен [їх, поголовно, всіх чоловічої статі], від двадцяти років і вище, усіх придатних для війни, | For the sons of Juda according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, all males from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes forth with the host, |

| Синів Неффалима за родами їх, за племенами їх, за сімействами їх, за числом імен [їх, поголовно, усіх чоловічої статі], від двадцяти років і вище, усіх придатних для війни, | For the sons of Nephthali according to their kindreds, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, every one who goes forth with the host, |

| підраховано в коліні Неффалимовому п’ятдесят три тисячі чотириста. | the numbering of them of the tribe of Nephthali, was fifty-three thousand and four hundred. |

| Ось ті, що ввійшли у підрахунок, яких порахував Мойсей і Аарон і начальники Ізраїля — дванадцять чоловік, по одній людині з кожного племені. | This is the numbering which Moses and Aaron and the rulers of Israel, being twelve men, conducted: there was a man for each tribe, they were according to the tribe of the houses of their family. |

| І було всіх, що ввійшли в підрахунок, синів Ізраїлевих, за сімействами їх, від двадцяти років і вище, усіх придатних для війни в Ізраїлі, | And the whole numbering of the children of Israel with their host from twenty years old and upward, every one that goes out to set himself in battle array in Israel, came to |

| і було всіх, що ввійшли у підрахунок шістсот три тисячі п’ятсот п’ятдесят. | six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty. |

| А левити за поколіннями батьків їх не були пораховані між ними. | But the Levites of the tribe of their family were not counted among the children of Israel. |
|

| І сказав Господь Мойсеєві, говорячи: | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, |

|
| тільки коліна Левія не внось у перепис, і не враховуй їх разом із синами Ізраїля; | See, thou shalt not muster the tribe of Levi, and thou shalt not take their numbers, in the midst of the children of Israel. |
|

|
50
|
| але доручи левитам скинію одкровення і все приладдя її і все, що при ній; нехай вони носять скинію і все приладдя її, і служать при ній, і біля скинії нехай ставлять стан свій; | And do thou set the Levites over the tabernacle of witness, and over all its furniture, and over all things that are in it; and they shall do service in it, and they shall encamp round about the tabernacle. |

| і коли потрібно переносити скинію, нехай піднімають її левити; і коли потрібно зупинитися скинії, нехай ставлять її левити; а якщо приступить хто сторонній, відданий буде на смерть. | And in removing the tabernacle, the Levites shall take it down, and in pitching the tabernacle they shall set it up: and let the stranger that advances to touch it die. |

| Сини Ізраїлеві повинні ставати кожен у стані своєму і кожен при своєму прапорі, за ополченнями своїми; | And the children of Israel shall encamp, every man in his own order, and every man according to his company, with their host. |
|

|
| а левити повинні ставити стан біля скинії одкровення, щоб не було гніву на громаду синів Ізраїлевих, і будуть левити стояти на сторожі при скинії одкровення. | But let the Levites encamp round about the tabernacle of witness fronting it, and so there shall be no sin among the children of Israel; and the Levites themselves shall keep the guard of the tabernacle of witness. |

| І зробили сини Ізраїлеві; як повелів Господь Мойсеєві, так вони і зробили. | And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. |
