| І зібралися всі ізраїльтяни до Давида в Хеврон і сказали: ось, ми кость твоя і плоть твоя; | And all Israel came to David in Chebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bones and thy flesh. |

| і вчора, і третього дня, коли ще Саул був царем, ти виводив і вводив Ізраїля, і Господь Бог твій сказав тобі: «ти будеш пасти народ Мій, Ізраїля, і ти будеш вождем народу Мого, Ізраїля». | And heretofore when Saul was king, thou wast he that led Israel in and out, and the Lord of Israel said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be for a ruler over Israel. |

| І прийшли усі старійшини Ізраїлеві до царя в Хеврон, і уклав з ними Давид завіт у Хевроні перед лицем Господнім; і вони помазали Давида на царя над Ізраїлем, за словом Господнім, через Самуїла. | And all the elders of Israel came to the king to Chebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Chebron before the Lord: and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel. |

| І пішов Давид і весь Ізраїль до Єрусалима, тобто до Ієвуса. А там були ієвусеї, жителі тієї землі. | And the king and his men went to Jerusalem, this is Jebus; and there the Jebusites the inhabitants of the land said to David, |

| І сказали жителі Ієвуса Давиду: не ввійдеш сюди. Але Давид узяв фортецю Сион; це місто Давидове. | Thou shalt not enter in hither. But he took the strong hold of Sion: this is the city of David. |
|

| І сказав Давид: хто раніше за усіх вразить ієвусеїв, той буде главою і воєначальником. І зійшов раніше за всіх Іоав, син Саруї, і став главою. | And David said, Whoever first smites the Jebusite, even he shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Saruia went up first, and became chief. |

| Давид жив у тій фортеці, тому і називали її містом Давидовим. | And David dwelt in the strong hold; therefore he called it the city of David. |

| І він оббудував місто навкруги, починаючи від Милло, всю околицю, а Іоав відновив інші частини міста. | And he fortified the city round about. |
|

| І процвітав Давид, і піднімався більше і більше, і Господь Саваоф був з ним. | And David continued to increase, and the Lord Almighty was with him. |
|

|
| Ось головні із сильних у Давида, які спільно подвизалися з ним у царстві його, разом з усім Ізраїлем, щоб поставити його царем, за словом Господнім, над Ізраїлем, | And these are the chiefs of the mighty men, whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel. |

| і ось число хоробрих, які були у Давида: Ієсваал, син Ахамані, головний з тридцяти. Він підняв спис свій на триста чоловік і вразив їх за один раз. | And this is the list of the mighty men of David; Jesebada, son of Achaman, first of the thirty: he drew his sword once against three hundred whom he slew at one time. |

| Після нього Єлеазар, син Додо ахохиянина, з трьох хоробрих: | And after him Eleazar son of Dodai, the Achochite: he was among the three mighty men. |

| він був з Давидом у Фасдамимі, куди филистимляни зібралися на війну. Там частина поля була засіяна ячменем, і народ побіг від филистимлян; | He was with David in Phasodamin, and the Philistines were gathered there to battle, and there was a portion of the field full of barley; and the people fled before the Philistines. |

| але вони стали серед поля, зберегли його й уразили филистимлян. І дарував Господь спасіння велике! | And he stood in the midst of the portion, and rescued it, and smote the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great deliverance. |
|

| Троє цих головних з тридцяти вождів зійшли на скелю до Давида, у печеру Одоллам, коли стан филистимлян був розташований у долині рефаїмів. | And three of the thirty chiefs went down to the rock to David, to the cave of Odollam, and the camp of the Philistines was in the giants' valley. |

| Давид тоді був в укріпленому місці, а охоронне військо филистимлян було тоді у Вифлеємі. | And David was then in the hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethleem. |

| І дуже захотілося пити Давиду, і він сказав: хто напоїть мене водою з колодязя вифлеємського, що біля воріт? | And David longed, and said, Who will give me water to drink of the well of Bethleem, that is in the gate? |
|

| Тоді ці троє пробилися крізь стан филистимський і почерпнули води з колодязя вифлеємського, що біля воріт, і взяли, і принесли Давиду. Але Давид не захотів пити її і вилив її у славу Господа, | And the three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and they drew water out of the well that was in Bethleem, which was in the gate, and they took it, and came to David: but David would not drink it, and poured it out to the Lord, and said, |

| і сказав: збережи мене Господь, щоб я зробив це! Чи стану я пити кров мужів цих, які покладали душі свої! Бо з небезпекою для власного життя вони принесли воду. І не захотів пити її. Ось що зробили троє цих хоробрих. | God forbid that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men with their lives? for with the peril of their lives they brought it. So he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men. |

| І Авесса, брат Іоава, був головним із трьох: він убив списом своїм триста чоловік, і був у славі у тих трьох. | And Abisa the brother of Joab, he was chief of three: he drew his sword against three hundred slain at one time, and he had a name among the second three. |

| Із трьох він був найзнатнішим і був начальником; але з тими трьома не рівнявся. | He was more famous than the two others of the three, and he was chief over them; yet he reached not to the first three. |

| Ванея, син Іодая, мужа хороброго, великий за ділами, з Кавцеїла: він вразив двох Ариїлів моавитських; він же зійшов і убив лева у рові, в сніжний час; | And Banaia the son of Jodae was the son of a mighty man: many were his acts for Cabasael: he smote two lion-like men of Moab, and he went down and smote a lion in a pit on a snowy day. |

| він же убив єгиптянина, людину на зріст у п’ять ліктів: у руці єгиптянина був спис, як навій у ткачів, а він підійшов до нього з палкою і, вирвавши спис з руки єгиптянина, убив його його ж списом: | And he smote an Egyptian, a wonderful man five cubits high; and in the hand of the Egyptian there was a spear like a weavers' beam; and Banaia went down to him with a staff, and took the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear. |

| ось що зробив Ванея, син Іодая. І він був у славі у тих трьох хоробрих; | These things did Banaia son of Jodae, and his name was among the three mighties. |

| він був знатнішим тридцяти, але з трьома не рівнявся, і Давид поставив його найближчим виконавцем своїх наказів. | He was distinguished beyond the thirty, yet he reached not to the first three: and David set him over his family. |

| А головні з воїнів: Асаїл, брат Іоава; Елханан, син Додо, з Вифлеєма; | And the mighty men of the forces were, Asael the brother of Joab, Eleanan the son of Dodoe of Bethleem, |

| Шамма гародитянин; Херец пелонитянин; | Samaoth the Arorite, Chelles the Phelonite, |

| Іра, син Ікеша, фекоїтянин; Евиезер анафофянин; | Ora the son of Ekkis the Thecoite, Abiezer the Anathothite, |

|
| Сивхай хушатянин; Ілай ахохиянин; | Sobochai the Usathite, Eli the Achonite, |
|

|
| Магарай нетофафянин; Хелед, син Ваани, нетофафянин; | Marai the Netophathite, Chthaod the son of Nooza the Netophathite, |

| Іттай, син Рибая, з Гиви Веніамінової; Ванея пирафонянин; | Airi the son of Rebie of the hill of Benjamin, Banaias the Pharathonite, |

| Хурай з Наголе-Гааша; Авиел з Арави; | Uri of Nachali Gaas, Abiel the Garabæthite, |

| Азмавеф бахарумиянин; Елияхба шаалбонянин. | Azbon the Baromite, Eliaba the Salabonite, |

| Адина, син Шизи, рувимлянин, глава рувимлян, і в нього було тридцять; | Adina son of Sæza, a chief of Ruben, and thirty with him, |

|
| Ханан, син Маахи; Іосафат мифниянин; | Anan the son of Moöcha, and Josaphat the Matthanite, |

|
| Уззія аштерофянин; Шама та Іеїел, сини Хофама ароерянина; | Ozia the Astarothite, Samatha and Jeiel sons of Chotham the Ararite, |

|
| Ієдиаел, син Шимрія, та Іоха, брат його, фициянин; | Jediel the son of Sameri, and Jozae his brother the Thosaite, |

|
| Елиел з Махавима, та Ієривай і Іошавія, сини Елнаама, й Іфма моавитянин; | Eliel the Maoite, and Jaribi, and Josia his son, Ellaam, and Jethama the Moabite, |

|
| Елиел, Овед та Іасиел з Мецоваї. | Daliel, and Obeth, and Jessiel of Mesobia. |
