| І сказав Господь Мойсеєві: ввійди до фараона, бо Я обтяжив серце його і серце рабів його, щоб явити між ними ці знамення Мої, | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Go in to Pharao: for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that these signs may come upon them; in order |

| і щоб ти розповідав сину твоєму і сину сина твого про те, що Я зробив у Єгипті, і про знамення Мої, які Я показав у ньому, і щоб ви знали, що Я Господь. | that ye may relate in the ears of your children, and to your children's children, in how many things I have mocked the Egyptians, and my wonders which I wrought among them; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. |

| Мойсей і Аарон прийшли до фараона і сказали йому: так говорить Господь, Бог євреїв: чи довго ти не смиришся переді Мною? відпусти народ Мій, щоб він звершив Мені служіння; | And Moses and Aaron went in before Pharao, and they said to him, These things saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long dost thou refuse to reverence me? Send my people away, that they may serve me. |

| а якщо ти не відпустиш народу Мого, то ось, завтра [у цей самий час] Я наведу сарану на [всю] твою область: | But if thou wilt not send my people away, behold, at this hour to-morrow I will bring an abundance of locusts upon all thy coasts. |

|
| вона покриє лице землі так, що не можна буде бачити землі, і поїсть у вас [усе], що залишилося [на землі], що уціліло від граду; об’їсть також усі дерева, що ростуть у вас на полі, | And they shall cover the face of the earth, and thou shalt not be able to see the earth; and they shall devour all that is left of the abundance of the earth, which the hail has left you, and shall devour every tree that grows for you on the land. |

| і наповнить доми твої, доми всіх рабів твоїх і [усі] доми всіх єгиптян, чого не бачили батьки твої, ні батьки батьків твоїх з дня, як живуть на землі, навіть до цього дня. [Мойсей] обернувся і вийшов від фараона. | And thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of thy servants, and all the houses in all the land of the Egyptians; things which thy fathers have never seen, nor their forefathers, from the day that they were upon the earth until this day. And Moses turned away and departed from Pharao. |

| Тоді раби фараонові сказали йому: чи довго він буде мучити нас? відпусти цих людей, нехай вони звершать служіння Господу, Богу своєму; невже ти ще не бачиш, що Єгипет гине? | And the servants of Pharao say to him, How long shall this be a snare to us? send away the men, that they may serve their God; wilt thou know that Egypt is destroyed? |

| І повернули Мойсея й Аарона до фараона, і [фараон] сказав їм: підіть, звершіть служіння Господу, Богу вашому; хто ж і хто піде? | And they brought back both Moses and Aaron to Pharao; and he said to them, Go and serve the Lord your God; but who are they that are going with you? |

| І сказав Мойсей: підемо з малолітніми нашими і старими нашими, з синами нашими і дочками нашими, і з вівцями нашими і з волами нашими підемо, тому що у нас свято Господу [Богу нашому]. | And Moses said, We will go with the young and the old, with our sons, and daughters, and sheep, and oxen, for it is a feast of the Lord. |

| [Фараон] сказав їм: нехай буде так, Господь з вами! я готовий відпустити вас: але навіщо з дітьми? бачите, у вас недобрий намір! | And he said to them, So let the Lord be with you: as I will send you away, must I send away your store also? see that evil is attached to you. |
|

|
| ні: підіть одні чоловіки і звершіть служіння Господу, тому що ви цього просили. І вигнали їх від фараона. | Not so, but let the men go and serve God, for this ye yourselves seek; and they cast them out from the presence of Pharao. |
|

| Тоді Господь сказав Мойсеєві: простягни руку твою на землю Єгипетську, і нехай нападе сарана на землю Єгипетську і поїсть усю траву земну [і всі плоди дерев], усе, що вціліло від граду. | And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt, and let the locust come up on the land, and it shall devour every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which the hail left. |

| І простяг Мойсей жезл свій на землю Єгипетську, і Господь навів на цю землю східний вітер, який продовжувався весь той день і всю ніч. Настав ранок, і східний вітер наніс сарану. | And Moses lifted up his rod towards heaven, and the Lord brought a south wind upon the earth, all that day and all that night: the morning dawned, and the south wind brought up the locusts, |

| І напала сарана на всю землю Єгипетську і лягла по всій країні Єгипетській у великій кількості: раніше не бувало такої сарани, і після цього не буде такої; | and brought them up over all the land of Egypt. And they rested in very great abundance over all the borders of Egypt. Before them there were not such locusts, neither after them shall there be. |

| вона покрила лице всієї землі, так що землі не було видно, і поїла всю траву земну і всі плоди дерев, що вціліли від граду, і не залишилося ніякої зелені ні на деревах, ні на траві польовій по всій землі Єгипетській. | And they covered the face of the earth, and the land was wasted, and they devoured all the herbage of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which was left by the hail: there was no green thing left on the trees, nor on all the herbage of the field, in all the land of Egypt. |

| Фараон поспіхом прикликав Мойсея й Аарона і сказав: згрішив я перед Господом, Богом вашим, і перед вами; | And Pharao hasted to call Moses and Aaron, saying, I have sinned before the Lord your God, and against you; |

| тепер простіть гріх мій ще раз і помоліться Господу Богу вашому, щоб Він тільки відвернув від мене цю смерть. | pardon therefore my sin yet this time, and pray to the Lord your God, and let him take away from me this death. |
|

| [Мойсей] вийшов від фараона і помолився Господу. | And Moses went forth from Pharao, and prayed to God. |
|

|
| І підняв Господь із протилежного боку західний дуже сильний вітер, і він поніс сарану і кинув її в Червоне море: не залишилося жодної сарани у всій країні Єгипетській. | And the Lord brought in the opposite direction a strong wind from the sea, and took up the locusts and cast them into the Red Sea, and there was not one locust left in all the land of Egypt. |

| Але Господь озлобив серце фараона, і він не відпустив синів Ізраїлевих. | And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharao, and he did not send away the children of Israel. |
|

|
| І сказав Господь Мойсеєві: простягни руку твою до неба, і буде темрява на землі Єгипетській, відчутна пітьма. | And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out thy hand to heaven, and let there be darkness over the land of Egypt—darkness that may be felt. |
|

|
| Мойсей простяг руку свою до неба, і була густа темрява по всій землі Єгипетській три дні; | And Moses stretched out his hand to heaven, and there was darkness very black, even a storm over all the land of Egypt three days. |
|

|
| не бачили одне одного, і ніхто не вставав з місця свого три дні; у всіх же синів Ізраїлевих було світло в житлах їхніх. | And for three days no man saw his brother, and no man rose up from his bed for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in all the places where they were. |
|

|
| Фараон покликав Мойсея [й Аарона] і сказав: підіть, звершіть служіння Господу [Богу вашому], нехай тільки залишиться дрібна і велика худоба ваша, а діти ваші нехай ідуть з вами. | And Pharao called Moses and Aaron, saying, Go, serve the Lord your God, only leave your sheep and your oxen, and let your store depart with you. |

| Але Мойсей сказав: [ні,] дай також у руки наші жертви і всепалення, щоб принести Господу Богу нашому; | And Moses said, Nay, but thou shalt give to us whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices, which we will sacrifice to the Lord our God. |
|

|
| нехай підуть і стада наші з нами, не залишиться ні копита; тому що з них ми візьмемо на жертву Господу, Богу нашому; але доки не прийдемо туди, ми не знаємо, що принести в жертву Господу [Богу нашому]. | And our cattle shall go with us, and we will not leave a hoof behind, for of them we will take to serve the Lord our God: but we know not in what manner we shall serve the Lord our God, until we arrive there. |

| І озлобив Господь серце фараона, і він не захотів відпустити їх. | But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharao, and he would not let them go. |
|

|
| І сказав йому фараон: вийди від мене; бережися, не з’являйся більше перед лицем моїм; у той день, коли ти побачиш лице моє, помреш. | And Pharao says, Depart from me, beware of seeing my face again, for in what day thou shalt appear before me, thou shalt die. |
|

|
| І сказав Мойсей: як сказав ти, так і буде; я не побачу більше лиця твого. | And Moses says, Thou hast said, I will not appear in thy presence again. |
