| І промовив Бог [до Мойсея] усі слова ці, говорячи: | And the Lord spoke all these words, saying: |

| Я Господь, Бог твій, Який вивів тебе з землі Єгипетської, з дому рабства; | I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. |
|

|
| нехай не буде в тебе інших богів перед лицем Моїм. | Thou shalt have no other gods beside me. |
|

|
4
|
| Не роби собі кумира і ніякого зображення того, що на небі вгорі, і що на землі внизу, і що у воді нижче землі; | Thou shalt not make to thyself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. |

| не поклоняйся їм і не служи їм, бо Я Господь, Бог твій, Бог ревнитель, що карає дітей за провину батьків до третього і четвертого роду тих, які ненавидять Мене, | Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me, |

| і творить милість до тисячі родів тим, що люблять Мене і дотримуються заповідей Моїх. | and bestowing mercy on them that love me to thousands of them, and on them that keep my commandments. |

| Не вимовляй імені Господа, Бога твого, марно, тому що Господь не залишить без покарання того, хто промовляє ім’я Його марно. | Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord thy God will not acquit him that takes his name in vain. |
|

|
| Пам’ятай день суботній, щоб святити його; | Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. |
|

|
| шість днів працюй і виконуй [у них] усякі справи твої, | Six days thou shalt labour, and shalt perform all thy work. |
|

|
| а день сьомий — субота Господу, Богу твоєму: не роби в цей день ніякої справи ні ти, ні син твій, ні дочка твоя, ні раб твій, ні рабиня твоя, ні [віл твій, ні осел твій, ні всяка] худоба твоя, ні прибулець, який в оселях твоїх; | But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; on it thou shalt do no work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy servant nor thy maidservant, thine ox nor thine ass, nor any cattle of thine, nor the stranger that sojourns with thee. |

| бо за шість днів створив Господь небо і землю, море й усе, що в них, а на день сьомий спочив; тому благословив Господь день суботній і освятив його. | For in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and the sea and all things in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it. |

| Шануй батька твого і матір твою, [щоб тобі було добре і] щоб продовжилися дні твої на землі, яку Господь, Бог твій, дає тобі. | Honour thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long on the good land, which the Lord thy God gives to thee. |

| Не вбивай. | Thou shalt not commit adultery. |
|

|
| Не перелюбствуй. | Thou shalt not steal. |
|

|
| Не кради. | Thou shalt not kill. |
|

|

|
| Не говори неправдивого свідчення на ближнього твого. | Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. |
|

|
| Не бажай дому ближнього твого; не бажай дружини ближнього твого, [ні поля його,] ні раба його, ні рабині його, ні вола його, ні осла його, [ні всякої худоби його,] нічого, що у ближнього твого. | Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house; nor his field, nor his servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any of his cattle, nor whatever belongs to thy neighbour. |

| Весь народ бачив громи і полум’я і звук трубний, і гору, що диміла, і побачивши те, [весь] народ відступив і став віддалік. | And all the people perceived the thundering, and the flashes, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and all the people feared and stood afar off, |

| І сказали Мойсею: говори ти з нами, і ми будемо слухати, але щоб не говорив з нами Бог, щоб нам не померти. | and said to Moses, Speak thou to us, and let not God speak to us, lest we die. |
|

|
| І сказав Мойсей народу: не бійтеся; Бог [до вас] прийшов, щоб випробувати вас і щоб страх Його був перед лицем вашим, щоб ви не грішили. | And Moses says to them, Be of good courage, for God is come to you to try you, that his fear may be among you, that ye sin not. |

| І стояв [весь] народ віддалік, а Мойсей вступив у морок, де Бог. | And the people stood afar off, and Moses went into the darkness where God was. |
|

|
| І сказав Господь Мойсеєві: так скажи [дому Якова і звісти] синам Ізраїлевим: ви бачили, як Я з неба говорив вам; | And the Lord said to Moses, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and thou shalt report it to the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven. |

| не робіть переді Мною богів срібних, або богів золотих, не робіть собі: | Ye shall not make to yourselves gods of silver, and gods of gold ye shall not make to yourselves. |
|

| зроби Мені жертовник із земли і принось на ньому всепалення твої і мирні жертви твої, овець твоїх і волів твоїх; на всякому місці, де Я покладу пам’ять імені Мого, Я прийду до тебе і благословлю тебе; | Ye shall make to me an altar of earth; and upon it ye shall sacrifice your whole burnt-offerings, and your peace-offerings, and your sheep and your calves in every place, where I shall record my name; and I will come to thee and bless thee. |

| якщо ж будеш робити Мені жертовник з каменів, то не споруджуй його з обтесаних, бо, як тільки накладеш на них тесало твоє, то оскверниш їх; | And if thou wilt make to me an altar of stones, thou shalt not build them hewn stones; for thou hast lifted up thy tool upon them, and they are defiled. |

| і не піднімайся по сходинках до жертовника Мого, щоб не відкрилася при ньому нагота твоя. | Thou shalt not go up to my altar by steps, that thou mayest not uncover thy nakedness upon it. |
