| У сьомому році, у п’ятому місяці, у десятий день місяця, прийшли мужі зі старійшин Ізраїлевих запитати Господа і сіли перед лицем моїм. | And it came to pass in the seventh year, on the fifteenth day of the month, there came men of the elders of the house of Israel to enquire of the Lord, and they sat before me. |

| І було до мене слово Господнє: | And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, |

|
| сину людський! говори зі старійшинами Ізраїлевими і скажи їм: так говорить Господь Бог: ви прийшли запитати Мене? Живу Я, не дам вам відповіді, — говорить Господь Бог. | Son of man, speak to the elders of the house of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, I will not be enquired of by you, saith the Lord. |

| Чи хочеш судитися з ними, чи хочеш судитися, сину людський? вислови їм мерзоти батьків їхніх | Shall I utterly take vengeance on them, son of man? testify to them of the iniquities of their fathers: |
|

| і скажи їм: так говорить Господь Бог: у той день, коли Я обрав Ізраїля і, піднявши руку Мою, поклявся племені дому Якова, і відкрив Себе їм у землі Єгипетській, і, піднявши руку, сказав їм: «Я Господь Бог ваш!» — | and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord; From the day that I chose the house of Israel, and became known to the seed of the house of Jacob, and was known to them in the land of Egypt, and helped them with my hand, saying, I am the Lord your God; |

| у той день, піднявши руку Мою, Я поклявся їм вивести їх із землі Єгипетської у землю, яку Я приглянув для них, яка тече молоком і медом, красу всіх земель, | in that day I helped them with my hand, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into the land which I prepared for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, it is abundant beyond every land. |

| і сказав їм: відкиньте кожен мерзоти від очей ваших і не оскверняйте себе ідолами єгипетськими: Я Господь Бог ваш. | And I said to them, Let every one cast away the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the devices of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. |

| Але вони збурилися проти Мене і не хотіли слухати Мене; ніхто не відкинув мерзот від очей своїх і не залишив ідолів єгипетських. І Я сказав: виллю на них гнів Мій, виснажу на них лють Мою серед землі Єгипетської. | But they revolted from me, and would not hearken to me: they cast not away the abominations of their eyes, and forsook not the devices of Egypt: then I said that I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my wrath upon them in the midst of Egypt. |

| Але Я вчинив заради імені Мого, щоб воно не хулилося перед народами, серед яких знаходилися вони і перед очима яких Я відкрив Себе їм, щоб вивести їх із землі Єгипетської. | But I wrought so that my name should not be at all profaned in the sight of the Gentiles, in the midst of whom they are, among whom I was made known to them in their sight, to bring them out of the land of Egypt. |

| І Я вивів їх із землі Єгипетської і привів їх у пустелю, | And I brought them into the wilderness. |
|

|
| і дав їм заповіді Мої, й оголосив їм Мої постанови, виконуючи які людина була б живою через них; | And I gave them my commandments, and made known to them mine ordinances, all which if a man shall do, he shall even live in them. |
|

|
| дав їм також суботи Мої, щоб вони були знаменням між Мною і ними, щоб знали, що Я Господь, Який освячує їх. | And I gave them my sabbaths, that they should be for a sign between me and them, that they should know that I am the Lord that sanctify them. |
|

|
| Але дім Ізраїлів збурився проти Мене у пустелі: за заповідями Моїми не чинили і відкинули постанови Мої, виконуючи які людина живою була б через них, і суботи Мої порушували, і Я сказав: виллю на них лють Мою у пустелі, щоб знищити їх. | And I said to the house of Israel in the wilderness, Walk ye in my commandments: but they walked not in them, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man shall do, he shall even live in them; and they grievously profaned my sabbaths: and I said that I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. |

| Але Я вчинив заради імені Мого, щоб воно не хулилося перед народами, на очах яких Я вивів їх. | But I wrought so that my name should not be at all profaned before the Gentiles, before whose eyes I brought them out. |
|

|
| Навіть Я, піднявши руку Мою проти них у пустелі, поклявся, що не введу їх у землю, яку Я призначив, — яка тече молоком і медом, красу всіх земель, — | But I lifted up my hand against them in the wilderness once for all, that I would not bring them into the land which I gave them, a land flowing with milk and honey, it is sweeter than all lands: |

| за те, що вони відкинули постанови Мої, і не ходили за заповідями Моїми, і порушували суботи Мої; бо серце їхнє прагнуло до ідолів їхніх. | because they rejected mine ordinances, and walked not in my commandments, but profaned my sabbaths, and went after the imaginations of their hearts. |
|

|
| Але око Моє пошкодувало погубити їх; і Я не знищив їх у пустелі. | Yet mine eyes spared them, so as not to destroy them utterly, and I did not make an end of them in the wilderness. |
|

18
|
| І говорив Я синам їхнім у пустелі: не ходіть за правилами батьків ваших, і не дотримуйтесь настанов їхніх, і не оскверняйте себе ідолами їхніми. | And I said to their children in the wilderness, Walk not ye in the customs of your fathers, and keep not their ordinances, and have no fellowship with their practices, nor defile yourselves with them. |

| Я Господь Бог ваш: за Моїми заповідями живіть, і Моїх уставів дотримуйтеся, і виконуйте їх. | I am the Lord your God; walk in my commandments, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; |
|

|
| І святіть суботи Мої, щоб вони були знаменням між Мною і вами, щоб ви знали, що Я Господь Бог ваш. | and hallow my sabbaths, and let them be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. |
|

|
| Але і сини збурилися проти Мене: за заповідями Моїми не чинили й уставів Моїх не дотримувалися, не виконували того, виконуючи що людина була б жива, порушували суботи Мої, — і Я сказав: виллю на них гнів Мій, виснажу над ними лють Мою у пустелі; | But they provoked me, and their children walked not in my commandments, and they took no heed to mine ordinances to do them, which if a man shall do, he shall even live in them, and they profaned my sabbaths: then I said that I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to accomplish mine anger upon them. |

| але Я відхилив руку Мою і вчинив заради імені Мого, щоб воно не хулилося перед народами, перед очима яких Я вивів їх. | But I wrought so that my name might not be at all profaned before the Gentiles; and I brought them out in their sight. |
|

|
| Також, піднявши руку Мою у пустелі, Я поклявся розсіяти їх серед народів і розвіяти їх по землі | I lifted up my hand against them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the Gentiles, and disperse them in the countries; |
|

|
| за те, що вони постанов Моїх не виконували і заповіді Мої відкинули, і порушували суботи Мої, й очі їхні поверталися до ідолів батьків їхніх. | because they kept not mine ordinances, and rejected my commandments, and profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes went after the imaginations of their fathers. |

| І попустив їм настанови недобрі й постанови, від яких вони не могли бути живі, | So I gave them commandments that were not good, and ordinances in which they should not live. |

|
| і попустив їм осквернитися жертвоприношеннями їхніми, коли вони стали проводити через вогонь усякий перший плід утроби, щоб розорити їх, щоб знали, що Я Господь. | And I will defile them by their own decrees, when I pass through upon every one that opens the womb, that I may destroy them. |
|

|
| Тому говори дому Ізраїлевому, сину людський, і скажи їм: так говорить Господь Бог: ось чим ще хулили Мене батьки ваші, віроломно вчиняючи проти Мене: | Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord: Hitherto have your fathers provoked me in their trespasses in which they transgressed against me. |

| Я привів їх у землю, яку з клятвою обіцяв дати їм, піднявши руку Мою, — а вони, виглядівши собі усякий високий пагорб і всяке гіллясте дерево, стали заколювати там жертви свої, і ставили там образливі для Мене приношення свої і запашні куріння свої, й узливали там узливання свої. | Whereas I brought them into the land concerning which I lifted up mine hand to give it them; and they looked upon every high hill, and every shady tree, and they sacrificed there to their gods, and offered there a sweet-smelling savour, and there they poured out their drink-offerings. |

| І Я говорив їм: що це за висота, куди ходите ви? тому ім’ям Бама називається вона і до цього дня. | And I said to them, What is Abama, that ye go in thither? and they called its name Abama, until this day. |
|

|
| Тому скажи дому Ізраїлевому: так говорить Господь Бог: чи не оскверняєте ви себе за прикладом батьків ваших і чи не блудодієте услід мерзотам їхнім? | Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord, Do ye pollute yourselves with the iniquities of your fathers, and do ye go a-whoring after their abominations, |

| Приносячи дари ваші і проводячи синів ваших через вогонь, ви оскверняєте себе всіма ідолами вашими до цього дня, і хочете запитувати Мене, доме Ізраїлів? живу Я, — говорить Господь Бог, — не дам вам відповіді. | and do ye pollute yourselves with the first-fruits of your gifts, in the offerings wherewith ye pollute yourselves in all your imaginations, until this day; and shall I answer you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord, I will not answer you, neither shall this thing come upon your spirit. |

| І що приходить вам на думку, зовсім не збудеться. Ви говорите: «будемо, як язичники, як племена іноземні, служити дереву і каменю». | And it shall not be as ye say, We will be as the nations, and as the tribes of the earth, to worship stocks and stones. |
|

|
| Живу Я, — говорить Господь Бог: рукою міцною і силою великою і виливом гніву буду панувати над вами. | Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord, I will reign over you with a strong hand, and with a high arm, and with outpoured wrath: |

|
| І виведу вас із народів і з країн, по яких ви розсіяні, і зберу вас рукою міцною і силою великою і виливом гніву. | I will bring you out from the nations, and will take you out of the lands wherein ye were dispersed, with a strong hand, and with a high arm, and with outpoured wrath. |
|

|
| І приведу вас у пустелю народів, і там буду судитися із вами лицем до лиця. | And I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and will plead with you there face to face. |
|

|
| Як Я судився з батьками вашими у пустелі землі Єгипетської, так буду судитися з вами, — говорить Господь Бог. | As I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I judge you, saith the Lord. |
|
37
|
37
|
| І проведу вас під жезлом і введу вас в узи завіту. | And I will cause you to pass under my rod, and I will bring you in by number. |
|
38
|
38
|
| І виділю з вас заколотників і непокірливих Мені. Із землі перебування їх виведу їх, але у землю Ізраїлеву вони не ввійдуть, і пізнаєте, що Я Господь. | And I will separate from among you the ungodly and the revolters; for I will lead them forth out of their place of sojourning, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord, even the Lord. |

|
| А ви, доме Ізраїлів, — так говорить Господь Бог, — йдіть кожен до своїх ідолів і служіть їм, якщо Мене не слухаєте, але не оскверняйте більше святого імені Мого дарами вашими й ідолами вашими, | And as to you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord, even the Lord; Put away each one his evil practices, and hereafter if ye hearken to me, then shall ye no more profane my holy name by your gifts and by devices. |

|
| тому що на Моїй святій горі, на горі високій Ізраїлевій, — говорить Господь Бог, — там буде служити Мені весь дім Ізраїлів, — весь, скільки є його на землі; там Я з благоволінням прийму їх, і там вимагатиму приношень ваших і начатків ваших з усіма святинями вашими. | For upon my holy mountain, on the high mountain, saith the Lord, even the Lord, there shall all the house of Israel serve me for ever: and there will I accept you, and there will I have respect to your first-fruits, and the first-fruits of your offerings, in all your holy things. |

|
| Прийму вас, як запашне куріння, коли виведу вас із народів і зберу вас із країн, по яких ви розсіяні, і буду святитися у вас перед очима народів. | I will accept you with a sweet-smelling savour, when I bring you out from the nations, and take you out of the countries wherein ye have been dispersed; and I will be sanctified among you in the sight of the nations. |

| І пізнаєте, що Я Господь, коли введу вас у землю Ізраїлеву, — у землю, яку Я клявся дати батькам вашим, піднявши руку Мою. | And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have brought you into the land of Israel, into the land concerning which I lifted up my hand to give it to your fathers. |

| І згадаєте там про путі ваші і про всі діла ваші, якими ви оскверняли себе, і гребуватимете самими собою за всі злодіяння ваші, які ви робили, | And ye shall there remember your ways, and your devices wherewith ye defiled yourselves; and ye shall bewail yourselves for all your wickedness. |

| І пізнаєте, що Я Господь, коли буду чинити з вами заради імені Мого, не за злими вашими шляхами і вашими ділами розпусними, доме Ізраїлів, — говорить Господь Бог. | And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have done thus to you, that my name may not be profaned in your evil ways, and in your corrupt devices, saith the Lord. |

| І було до мене слово Господнє: | |

|
| сину людський! поверни лице твоє на шлях до полудня, і промов слово на полудень, і проречи пророцтво на ліс південного поля. | |
|
47
|
|
| І скажи південному лісу: слухай слово Господа; так говорить Господь Бог: ось, Я запалю у тобі вогонь, і він пожере у тобі всяке дерево зелене і всяке дерево сухе; не згасне палаюче полум’я, і все буде спалено ним від півдня до півночі. | |
|
48
|
|
| І побачить усяка плоть, що Я, Господь, запалив його, і він не згасне. | |
|
49
|
|
| І сказав я: о, Господи Боже! вони говорять про мене: «чи не говорить він притчі?» |
