| І було до мене слово Господнє: | And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, |

| сину людський! були дві жінки, дочки однієї матері, | Son of man, there were two women, daughters of one mother: |
|

|
| і блудили вони в Єгипті, блудили у своїй молодості; там зім’яті груди їхні, і там розбестили дівочі соски їхні. | and they went a-whoring in Egypt in their youth: there their breasts fell, there they lost their virginity. |
|

|

|
| Імена їх: старшої — Огола, а сестри її — Оголива. І були вони Моїми, і народжували синів і дочок; й іменувалися — Огола Самарією, а Оголива Єрусалимом. | And their names were Oola the elder, and Ooliba her sister: and they were mine, and bore sons and daughters: and as for their names, Samaria was Oola, and Jerusalem was Ooliba. |

| І стала Огола блудити від Мене і приліплялася до своїх коханців, до ассиріян, до сусідів своїх, | And Oola went a-whoring from me, and doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians that were her neighbours, |

|
| до тих, що вдягалися у тканини яхонтового кольору, до областеначальників і градоправителів, до всіх красивих юнаків, вершників, що їздять на конях; | clothed with purple, princes and captains; they were young men and choice, all horsemen riding on horses. |
|

|
| і розсипала блудодіяння свої з усіма добірними із синів Ассура, і осквернила себе всіма ідолами тих, до кого б не приліплялася: | And she bestowed her fornication upon them; all were choice sons of the Assyrians: and on whomsoever she doted herself, with them she defiled herself in all their devices. |

| не переставала блудити і з єгиптянами, тому що вони з нею спали у молодості її і розбещували дівочі соски її, і виливали на неї похіть свою. | And she forsook not her fornication with the Egyptians: for in her youth they committed fornication with her, and they deflowered her, and poured out their fornication upon her. |

|
| За те Я і віддав її до рук коханців її, до рук синів Ассура, до яких вона приліплялася. | Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the children of the Assyrians, on whom she doted. |
|

|
| Вони відкрили наготу її, взяли синів її і дочок її, а її вбили мечем. І вона зробилася ганьбою між жінками, коли звершили над нею страту. | They uncovered her shame: they took her sons and daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became a byword among women; and they wrought vengeance in her for the sake of the daughters. |

| Сестра її, Оголива, бачила це, і була ще розбещенішою у коханні своєму, і блуд її перевершив блуд сестри її. | And her sister Ooliba saw it, and she indulged in her fondness more corruptly than she, and in her fornication more than the fornication of her sister. |

| Вона приліпилася до синів Ассурових, до областеначальників і градоправителів, сусідів її, пишно одягнених, до вершників, що їздять на конях, до всіх добірних юнаків. | She doted upon the sons of the Assyrians, princes and captains, her neighbours, clothed with fine linen, horsemen riding on horses; they were all choice young men. |

| І Я бачив, що вона осквернила себе, і що в обох їх одна дорога. | And I saw that they were defiled, that the two had one way. |
|

|
| Але ця ще примножила блудодіяння свої, тому що, побачивши вирізаних на стіні чоловіків, фарбами намальовані зображення халдеїв, | And she increased her fornication, and she saw men painted on the wall, likenesses of the Chaldeans painted with a pencil, |
|

|
| підперезаних по стегнах своїх поясом, з розкішними на голові їх пов’язками, що мають вигляд воєначальників, схожих на синів Вавилона, батьківщина яких земля Халдейська, | having variegated girdles on their loins, having also richly dyed attire upon their heads; all had a princely appearance, the likeness of the children of the Chaldeans, of their native land. |

| вона закохалася у них з одного погляду очей своїх і послала до них у Халдею послів. | And she doted upon them as soon as she saw them, and sent forth messengers to them into the land of the Chaldeans. |

|
| І прийшли до неї сини Вавилона на любовне ложе, й осквернили її блудодійством своїм, і вона осквернила себе ними; і відвернулася від них душа її. | And the sons of Babylon came to her, into the bed of rest, and they defiled her in her fornication, and she was defiled by them, and her soul was alienated from them. |

| Коли ж вона явно віддалася блудодіянням своїм і відкрила наготу свою, тоді і від неї відвернулася душа Моя, як відвернулася душа Моя від сестри її. | And she exposed her fornication, and exposed her shame: and my soul was alienated from her, even as my soul was alienated from her sister. |

| І вона множила блудодіяння свої, згадуючи дні молодости своєї, коли блудила у землі Єгипетській; | And thou didst multiply thy fornication, so as to call to remembrance the days of thy youth, wherein thou didst commit whoredom in Egypt, |

|
| і приліпилася до коханців своїх, у яких плоть — плоть осляча, і похіть, як у жеребців. | and thou didst dote upon the Chaldeans, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and their members as the members of horses. |
|

|
| Так ти згадала розпусту молодости твоєї, коли єгиптяни стискали соски твої заради дівочих грудей твоїх. | And thou didst look upon the iniquity of thy youth, the things which thou wroughtest in Egypt in thy lodging, where were the breasts of thy youth. |
|

|
| Тому, Оголиво, так говорить Господь Бог: ось, Я підбурю проти тебе коханців твоїх, від яких відвернулася душа твоя, і приведу їх проти тебе з усіх боків: | Therefore, Ooliba, thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will stir up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy soul is alienated, and I will bring them upon thee round about, |

| синів Вавилона і всіх халдеїв, з Пехода, із Шоа і Коа, і з ними всіх синів Ассура, красивих юнаків, областеначальників і градоправителів, сановних та іменитих, усіх майстерних наїзників. | the children of Babylon, and all the Chaldeans, Phacuc, and Sue, and Hychue, and all the sons of the Assyrians with them; choice young men, governors and captains, all princes and renowned, riding on horses. |

|
| І прийдуть на тебе зі зброєю, з конями і колісницями і з безліччю народу, й обступлять тебе навколо у латах, зі щитами й у шоломах, і віддам їм тебе на суд, і будуть судити тебе своїм судом. | And they all shall come upon thee from the north, chariots and wheels, with a multitude of nations, shields and targets; and the enemy shall set a watch against thee round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall take vengeance on thee with their judgments. |

| І оберну ревність Мою проти тебе, і вчинять з тобою люто: відріжуть у тебе ніс і вуха, а інше твоє від меча упаде; візьмуть синів твоїх і дочок твоїх, а інше твоє вогнем буде пожерте; | And I will bring upon thee my jealousy, and they shall deal with thee in great wrath: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and shall cast down thy remnant with the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy remnant fire shall devour. |

| і знімуть з тебе одяг твій, візьмуть убрання твоє. | And they shall strip thee of thy raiment, and take away thine ornaments. |

|
| І покладу кінець розпусті твоїй і блуду твоєму, принесеному із землі Єгипетської, і не будеш звертати на них очей твоїх, і про Єгипет уже не згадаєш. | So I will turn back thine ungodliness from thee, and thy fornication from the land of Egypt: and thou shalt not lift up thine eyes upon them, and shalt no more remember Egypt. |

| Бо так говорить Господь Бог: ось, Я віддаю тебе до рук тих, кого ти зненавиділа, до рук тих, від кого відвернулася душа твоя. | Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hands of those whom thou hatest, from whom thy soul is alienated. |

| І вчинять з тобою жорстоко, і візьмуть у тебе все, набуте працею, і залишать тебе нагою і непокритою, і відкрита буде соромітна нагота твоя, і розпуста твоя, і блудодійство твоє. | And they shall deal with thee in hatred, and shall take all the fruits of thy labours and thy toils, and thou shalt be naked and bare: and the shame of thy fornication shall be exposed: and thy ungodliness and thy fornication |

| Це буде зроблено з тобою за блудодійство твоє з народами, ідолами яких ти осквернила себе. | brought this upon thee, in that thou wentest a-whoring after the nations, and didst defile thyself with their devices. |

| Ти ходила дорогою сестри твоєї; за те і дам у руку тобі чашу її. | Thou didst walk in the way of thy sister; and I will put her cup into thine hands. |
|

|
| Так говорить Господь Бог: ти будеш пити чашу сестри твоєї, глибоку і широку, і будеш піддана осміянню і ганьбі, за величезної місткости її. | Thus saith the Lord; Drink thy sister's cup, deep and large, and full, to cause complete drunkenness. |
|

|
| Сп’янінням і гіркотою будеш сповнена: чаша жаху і спустошення — чаша сестри твоєї, Самарії! | And thou shalt be thoroughly weakened; and the cup of destruction, the cup of thy sister Samaria, |

| І вип’єш її, і осушиш, і черепки її оближеш, і груди твої пошматуєш: бо Я сказав це, — говорить Господь Бог. | drink thou it, and I will take away her feasts and her new moons: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord. |
|

|
| Тому так говорить Господь Бог: оскільки ти забула Мене і відвернулася від Мене, то і терпи за беззаконня твоє і за блудодійство твоє. | Therefore thus saith the Lord; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore receive thou the reward of thine ungodliness and thy fornication. |

| І сказав мені Господь: сину людський! чи хочеш судити Оголу й Оголиву? вислови їм мерзоти їх; | And the Lord said to me; Son of man, wilt thou not judge Oola and Ooliba? and declare to them their iniquities? |
|

| бо вони перелюбствували, і кров на руках їх, і з ідолами своїми перелюбствували, і синів своїх, яких народили Мені, через вогонь проводили в їжу їм. | For they have committed adultery, and blood was in their hands, they committed adultery with their devices, and they passed through the fire to them their children which they bore to me. |

| Ще ось що вони робили Мені: оскверняли святилище Моє у той самий день, і порушували суботи Мої; | So long too as they did these things to me, they defiled my sanctuary, and profaned my sabbaths. |
|

|
| тому що, коли вони заколювали дітей своїх для ідолів своїх, у той самий день приходили у святилище Моє, щоб оскверняти його: ось як чинили вони у домі Моєму! | And when they sacrificed their children to their idols, they also went into my sanctuary to profane it: and whereas they did thus in the midst of my house; |

| Крім цього, посилали за людьми, які приходили здалеку; до них відправляли послів, і ось, вони приходили, і ти для них умивалася, підмальовувала очі твої і прикрашалася убраннями, | and whereas they did thus to the men that came from afar, to whom they sent messengers, and as soon as they came, immediately thou didst wash thyself, and didst paint thine eyes and adorn thyself with ornaments, |

| і сідали на чудове ложе, перед яким приготований був стіл і на якому пропонувала ти запашні куріння Мої і єлей Мій. | and satest on a prepared bed, and before it there was a table set out, and as for mine incense and mine oil, they rejoiced in them, |

|
| І лунав голос народу, який радів у неї, і до людей з натовпу народного вводилися п’яниці з пустелі; і вони покладали на руки їхні зап’ястя і на голови їхні красиві вінки. | and they raised a sound of music, and that with men coming from the wilderness out of a multitude of men, and they put bracelets on their hands, and a crown of glory on their heads; |

| Тоді сказав Я про підтоптану в перелюбстві: тепер закінчаться блудодіяння її разом з нею. | Therefore I said, Do they not commit adultery with these? and has she also gone a-whoring after the manner of a harlot? |

|
| Але приходили до неї, як приходять до жінки блудниці, так приходили до Оголи й Оголиви, до розпусних жінок. | And they went in to her, as men go in to a harlot; so they went in to Oola and to Ooliba to work iniquity. |
|
45
|
45
|
| Але мужі праведні будуть судити їх; вони будуть судити їх судом перелюбниць і судом тих, що проливають кров, тому що вони перелюбниці, й у них кров на руках. | And they are just men, and shall take vengeance on them with the judgment of an adulteress and the judgment of blood: for they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. |

| Бо так сказав Господь Бог: скликати на них зібрання і віддати їх на озлоблення і грабунок. | Thus saith the Lord God, Bring up a multitude upon them, and send trouble and plunder into the midst of them. |

|
| І зібрання поб’є їх камінням, і порубає їх мечами своїми, й уб’є синів їх і дочок їх, і доми їх спалить вогнем. | And stone them with the stones of a multitude, and pierce them with their swords: they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and shall burn up their houses. |
|

|
| Так покладу кінець розпусті на цій землі, й усі жінки приймуть урок, і не будуть робити соромітних діл подібно до вас; | And I will remove ungodliness out of the land, and all the women shall be instructed, and shall not do according to their ungodliness. |
|

49
|
| і покладуть на вас вашу розпусту, і понесете покарання за гріхи з ідолами вашими, і пізнаєте, що Я Господь Бог. | And your ungodliness shall be recompensed upon you, and ye shall bear the guilt of your devices: and ye shall know that I am the Lord. |
