| В одинадцятому році, у третьому місяці, у перший день місяця, було до мене слово Господнє: | And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, |

| сину людський! скажи фараонові, царю Єгипетському, і народу його: з ким ти зрівнюєш себе у величі твоїй? | Son of man, say to Pharao king of Egypt, and to his multitude; To whom hast thou compared thyself in thy haughtiness? |

|
| Ось, Ассур був кедр на Ливані, з красивими гілками і тінистим листям, і високий на зріст; вершина його знаходилася серед товстих сучків. | Behold, the Assyrian was a cypress in Libanus, and was fair in shoots, and high in stature: his top reached to the midst of the clouds. |

| Води вирощували його, безодня піднімала його, ріки її оточували розплідник його, і вона протоки свої посилала до усіх дерев польових. | The water nourished him, the depth made him grow tall; she led her rivers round about his plants, and she sent forth her streams to all the trees of the field. |
|

|
| Від того висота його перевищила усі дерева польові, і сучків на ньому було багато, і гілки його примножувалися, і сучки його ставали довгими від багатства вод, коли він розростався. | Therefore was his stature exalted above all the trees of the field, and his branches spread far by the help of much water. |

|
| На сучках його вили гнізда всякі птахи небесні, під гілками його виводили дітей усякі звірі польові, і під тінню його жили всякі численні народи. | All the birds of the sky made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches all the wild beasts of the field bred; the whole multitude of nations dwelt under his shadow. |

| Він красувався висотою зросту свого, довжиною гілок своїх, бо корінь його був біля великих вод. | And he was fair in his height by reason of the multitude of his branches: for his roots were amidst much water. |

|
| Кедри в саду Божому не затемнювали його; кипариси не рівнялися сучкам його, і каштани не були розміром як гілки його, жодне дерево у саду Божому не рівнялося з ним красою своєю. | And such cypresses as this were in the paradise of God; and there were no pines like his shoots, and there were no firs like his branches: no tree in the paradise of God was like him in his beauty, |

| Я прикрасив його безліччю гілок його, так що всі дерева едемські у саду Божому заздрили йому. | because of the multitude of his branches: and the trees of God's paradise of delight envied him. |

| Тому так сказав Господь Бог: за те, що ти став високий на зріст і вершину свою виставив серед товстих сучків, і серце його загордилося величчю його, — | Therefore thus saith the Lord; Because thou art grown great, and hast set thy top in the midst of the clouds, and I saw when he was exalted; |

| за те Я віддав його у руки володареві народів; він учинив з ним, як потрібно; за беззаконня його Я відкинув його. | therefore I delivered him into the hands of the prince of the nations, and he wrought his destruction. |
|

|
| І зрубали його чужоземці, найлютіші з народів, і повалили його на гори; і на всі долини упали гілки його; і сучки його скрушилися на всіх лощинах землі, і з-під тіні його відійшли всі народи землі, і залишили його. | And ravaging strangers from the nations have destroyed him, and have cast him down upon the mountains: his branches fell in all the valleys, and his boughs were broken in every field of the land; and all the people of the nations are gone down from their shelter, and have laid him low. |

| На уламках його розмістилися всякі птахи небесні, і в сучках були всякі польові звірі. | All the birds of the sky have settled on his fallen trunk, and all the wild beasts of the field came upon his boughs: |

| Це для того, щоб ніякі дерева біля вод не величалися високим зростом своїм і не піднімали вершини свої із середини товстих сучків, і щоб не приліплялися до них через висоту їх дерева, що п’ють воду; бо усі вони будуть віддані на смерть, у пекельну країну разом із синами людськими, які відійшли у могилу. | in order that none of the trees by the water should exalt themselves by reason of their size: whereas they set their top in the midst of the clouds, yet they continued not in their high state in their place, all that drank water, all were consigned to death, to the depth of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit. |

| Так говорить Господь Бог: у той день, коли він зійшов у могилу, Я засумував за ним, зачинив заради нього безодню і зупинив ріки її, і затримав великі води і потьмарив по ньому Ливан, і всі дерева польові були у тузі по ньому. | Thus saith the Lord God; In the day wherein he went down to Hades, the deep mourned for him: and I stayed her floods, and restrained her abundance of water: and Libanus saddened for him, all the trees of the field fainted for him. |

| Шумом падіння його Я привів у трепет народи, коли звів його у пекло, до тих, що відійшли у могилу, і зраділи у пекельній країні усі дерева Едема, відмінні й найкращі ливанські, усі, що п’ють воду; | At the sound of his fall the nations quaked, when I brought him down to Hades with them that go down to the pit: and all the trees of Delight comforted him in the heart, and the choice plants of Libanus, all that drink water. |

| бо і вони з ним відійшли у пекло, до уражених мечем, і союзники його, які жили під тінню його, серед народів. | For they went down to hell with him among the slain with the sword; and his seed, even they that dwelt under his shadow, perished in the midst of their life. |
|

| Отже, якому з дерев едемських дорівнював ти у славі і величі? Але тепер нарівні з деревами едемськими ти будеш зведений у пекло, будеш лежати серед необрізаних, з ураженими мечем. Це фараон і вся безліч народу його, — говорить Господь Бог. | To whom art thou compared? descend, and be thou debased with the trees of paradise to the depth of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword. Thus shall Pharao be, and the multitude of his host, saith the Lord God. |
