Chapter 11	Глава 11

False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable unto him.	Невірні терези — мерзота перед Господом, але правильна вага угодна Йому.

Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom.	Прийде гордість, прийде і посоромлення; але зі смиренними — мудрість. [Праведник, помираючи, залишає жаль; але несподівана і радісна буває погибель нечестивих.]

When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy.	Непорочність прямодушних буде керувати ними, а лукавство підступних погубить їх.

Righteousness traces out blameless paths: but ungodliness encounters unjust dealing.	Правда непорочного рівняє путь його, а нечестивий упаде від нечестя свого.

The righteousness of upright men delivers them: but transgressors are caught in their own destruction.	Правда прямодушних спасе їх, а беззаконники будуть уловлені беззаконням своїм.

At the death of a just man his hope does not perish: but the boast of the ungodly perishes.	Зі смертю чоловіка нечестивого зникає надія, і чекання беззаконних гине.

A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.	Праведник спасається від біди, а замість нього потрапляє у неї нечестивий.

In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous.	Устами лицемір губить ближнього свого, а праведники прозорливістю спасаються.

In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers:	При благоденстві праведників веселиться місто, і при погибелі нечестивих буває торжество.

but by the mouths of ungodly men it is overthrown.	Благословенням праведних звеличується місто, а вустами нечестивих руйнується.

A man void of understanding sneers at his fellow citizens: but a sensible man is quiet.	Бідний на розум висловлює презирство до ближнього свого; але розумна людина мовчить.

A double-tongued man discloses the secret counsels of an assembly: but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.	Хто ходить як пліткар, той відкриває таємницю; але вірна людина таїть справу.

They that have no guidance fall like leaves: but in much counsel there is safety.	При нестачі піклування падає народ, а при багатьох радниках благоденствує.

A bad man does harm wherever he meets a just man: and he hates the sound of safety.	Зло заподіює собі той, хто дає запоруку за стороннього; а хто ненавидить запоруку, той безпечний.

A gracious wife brings glory to her husband: but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonour. The slothful come to want: but the diligent support themselves with wealth.	Доброзвичайна дружина здобуває славу [чоловіку, а дружина, що ненавидить правду, є верх нечестя. Лінивці бувають убогі], а працелюбні, здобувають багатство.

A merciful man does good to his own soul: but the merciless destroys his own body.	Чоловік милосердий благодіє душі своїй, а жорстокосердий руйнує плоть свою.

An ungodly man performs unrighteous works: but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth.	Нечестивий робить справу ненадійну, а тому, хто сіє правду, — нагорода певна.

A righteous son is born for life: but the persecution of the ungodly ends in death.	Праведність веде до життя, а той, хто прагне до зла, прагне смерти своєї.

Perverse ways are an abomination to the Lord: but all they that are blameless in their ways are acceptable to him.	Мерзота перед Господом — підступні серцем; але благоугодні Йому непорочні в путі.

He that unjustly strikes hands shall not be unpunished: but he that sows righteousness shall receive a faithful reward.	Можна ручитися, що порочний не залишиться непокараним; сім’я ж праведних спасеться.

As an ornament in a swine's snout, so is beauty to an ill-minded woman.	Що золоте кільце в носі у свині, те жінка красива і — нерозсудлива.

All the desire of the righteous is good: but the hope of the ungodly shall perish.	Бажання праведних є одне добро, очікування нечестивих — гнів.

There are some who scatter their own, and make it more: and there are some also who gather, yet have less.	Хтось сипле щедро, і йому ще додається; а інший надміру ощадливий, і однак же убожіє.

Every sincere soul is blessed: but a passionate man is not graceful.	Благодійна душа буде насичена, і хто напуває інших, той і сам напоєний буде.

May he that hoards corn leave it to the nation: but blessing be on the head of him that gives it.	Хто утримує в себе хліб, того кляне народ; а на голові того, хто продає, — благословення.

He that devises good counsels seeks good favour: but as for him that seeks after evil, evil shall overtake him.	Хто прагне добра, той шукає благовоління; а хто шукає зла, до того воно і приходить.

He that trusts in wealth shall fall; but he that helps righteous men shall rise.	Той, хто надіється на багатство своє, упаде; а праведники, як лист, будуть зеленіти.

He that deals not graciously with his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise man.	Той, хто розладнує дім свій, отримає у наділ вітер, і нерозумний буде рабом мудрого серцем.

Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life; but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time.	Плід праведника — древо життя; і мудрий привертає душі.

If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?	Так праведнику воздається на землі, тим більше нечестивому і грішному.
