Chapter 29	Глава 29

A reprover is better than a stiff-necked man: for when the latter is suddenly set on fire, there shall be no remedy.	Людина, яка, будучи викритою, озлоблює шию свою, раптово скрушиться, і не буде їй зцілення.

When the righteous are praised, the people will rejoice: but when the ungodly rule, men mourn.	Коли примножуються праведники, веселиться народ, а коли панує нечестивий, народ стогне.

When a man loves wisdom, his father rejoices: but he that keeps harlots will waste wealth.	Чоловік, який любить мудрість, радує батька свого; а хто знається з блудницями, той марнує майно.

A righteous king establishes a country: but a transgressor destroys it.	Цар правосуддям утверджує землю, а хто любить подарунки, розоряє її.

He that prepares a net in the way of his own friend, entangles his own feet in it.	Чоловік, який лестить другові своєму, розстелює сіті ногам його.

A great snare is spread for a sinner: but the righteous shall be in joy and gladness.	У гріху злої людини — тенета для неї, а праведник веселиться і радіє.

A righteous man knows how to judge for the poor: but the ungodly understands not knowledge; and the poor man has not an understanding mind.	Праведник ретельно вникає у позов бідних, а нечестивий не розглядає справи.

Lawless men burn down a city: but wise men turn away wrath.	Люди розпусні обурюють місто, а мудрі втихомирюють заколот.

A wise man shall judge nations: but a worthless man being angry laughs and fears not.	Розумна людина, маючи суд з людиною дурною, чи сердиться, чи сміється, — не має спокою.

Bloody men hate a holy person, but the upright will seek his soul.	Кровожерливі люди ненавидять непорочного, а праведні піклуються про його життя.

A fool utters all his mind: but the wise reserves his in part.	Нерозумний весь гнів свій виливає, а мудрий стримує його.

When a king hearkens to unjust language, all his subjects are transgressors.	Якщо правитель слухає неправдиві слова, то і всі службовці у нього нечестиві.

When the creditor and debtor meet together, the Lord oversees them both.	Бідний і лихвар зустрічаються один з одним; але світло очам того й іншого дає Господь.

When a king judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for a testimony.	Якщо цар судить бідних за правдою, то престіл його назавжди утвердиться.

Stripes and reproofs give wisdom: but an erring child disgraces his parents.	Різка і викриття дають мудрість; але отрок, залишений у нехтуванні, чинить сором своїй матері.

When the ungodly abound, sins abound: but when they fall, the righteous are warned.	При примноженні нечестивих збільшується беззаконня; але праведники побачать падіння їх.

Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest; and he shall give honour to thy soul.	Карай сина твого, і він дасть тобі спокій, і принесе радість душі твоїй.

There shall be no interpreter to a sinful nation: but he that observes the law is blessed.	Без одкровення з висоти народ неприборканий, а хто дотримується закону — блаженний.
19	19
A stubborn servant will not be reproved by words: for even if he understand, still he will not obey.	Словами не навчиться раб, тому що, хоча він розуміє їх, але не слухається.

If thou see a man hasty in his words, know that the fool has hope rather than he.	Чи бачив ти чоловіка необачного у словах своїх? на нерозумного більше надії, ніж на нього.

He that lives wantonly from a child, shall be a servant, and in the end shall grieve over himself.	Якщо з дитинства виховувати раба у розкоші, то згодом він захоче бути сином.

A furious man stirs up strife, and a passionate man digs up sin.	Чоловік гнівливий заводить сварку, і запальний багато грішить.

Pride brings a man low, but the Lord upholds the humble-minded with honour.	Гордість людини принижує її, а смиренний духом здобуває шану.

He that shares with a thief, hates his own soul: and if any having heard an oath uttered tell not of it,	Хто ділиться зі злодієм, той ненавидить душу свою; чує він прокляття, але не оголошує про те.

they fearing and reverencing men unreasonably have been overthrown, but he that trusts in the Lord shall rejoice. Ungodliness causes a man to stumble: but he that trusts in his master shall be safe.	Острах перед людьми ставить тенета; а хто уповає на Господа, буде у безпеці.

Many wait on the favour of rulers; but justice comes to a man from the Lord.	Багато хто шукає прихильного лиця правителя, але доля людини — від Господа.

A righteous man is an abomination to an unrighteous man, and the direct way is an abomination to the sinner.	Мерзота для праведників — людина неправедна, і мерзота для нечестивого — хто йде прямим шляхом.
