Глава 1	Chapter 1

Споконвіку було Слово, і Слово було у Бога, і Слово було Бог.	In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2	2
Воно було споконвіку в Бога.	The same was in the beginning with God.
3	3
Все через Нього сталось, і без Нього ніщо не сталося, що сталося.	All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.

У Ньому було життя, і життя було світлом людям.	In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5	5
І світло в темряві світить, і темрява не огорнула його.	And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.

Був чоловік, посланий від Бога; ім’я йому Іоан.	There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.

Він прийшов для свідчення, щоб свідчити про Світло, щоб усі увірували через нього.	The same came for witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him.

Він не був світлом, але був посланий, щоб свідчити про Світло.	He was not the light, but came that he might bear witness of the light.

Було Світло істинне, що освітлює кожну людину, яка приходить у світ.	There was the true light, even the light which lighteth every man, coming into the world.

У світі був, і світ через Нього постав, і світ Його не пізнав.	He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not.

До своїх прийшов, і свої Його не прийняли.	He came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not.

А тим, які прийняли Його, що вірують в ім’я Його, дав силу дітьми Божими бути,	But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:

які не від крови, не від похоті плотської, не від хотіння чоловічого, а від Бога народилися.	who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14	14
І Слово стало плоттю, і вселилося між нами, повне благодаті й істини; і ми бачили славу Його, славу, як Єдинородного від Отця.	And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.
15	15
Іоан свідчить про Нього і голосно каже: це Той, про Кого я говорив; Той, Хто йде за мною, став попереду мене, бо раніше від мене був.	John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me is become before me: for he was before me.

І від повноти Його ми всі прийняли і благодать на благодать,	And of his fullness we all received, and grace for grace.
17	17
бо закон був даний через Мойсея; а благодать і істина через Ісуса Христа сталися.	For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Бога ніхто не бачив ніколи; Єдинородний Син, Який у лоні Отця, Він явив.	No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
19	19
І ось свідчення Іоана, коли юдеї послали з Єрусалима священиків і левитів спитати його: хто ти є?	And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
20	20
Він визнав, і не зрікся, і визнав, що: я — не Христос.	And he confessed, and denied not; and he confessed, I am not the Christ.

І запитали його: то хто ж ти? Чи не Ілля? Він сказав: ні. Ти пророк? Він відповів: ні.	And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.

Тоді сказали йому: хто ж ти такий? Щоб нам відповідь дати тим, що послали нас; що ти скажеш про самого себе?	They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

Він сказав: я глас вопіющого в пустелі; приготуйте путь Господеві, як сказав Ісая пророк.	He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet.

А посланці були від фарисеїв.	And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
25	25
І вони запитали його і сказали йому: що ж ти хрестиш, якщо ти не є Христос, ні Ілля, ні пророк?	And they asked him, and said unto him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither the prophet?

Іоан сказав їм у відповідь: я хрещу водою; але серед вас стоїть Той, Кого ви не знаєте;	John answered them, saying, I baptize in water: but in the midst of you standeth one whom ye know not,
27	27
Він гряде за мною, але переді мною був; я недостойний розв’язати ремінь взуття Його.	he it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose.

Це сталося у Вифаварі по той бік Йордану, де хрестив Іоан.	These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Наступного дня бачить Іоан Ісуса, Який іде до нього, і говорить: ось Агнець Божий, Який бере на себе гріхи світу.	On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world!

Це Той, про Якого я сказав: за мною гряде Муж, Який переді мною був, бо Він був раніше від мене.	This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is preferred before me: for he was before me.

Я не знав Його; але прийшов хрестити водою для того, щоб Він явився Ізраїлеві.	And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, for this cause came I baptizing in water.

І свідчив Іоан, кажучи: я бачив Духа, Який сходив з неба, мов голуб, і перебував на Ньому.	And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.

Я не знав Його; але Той, Хто послав мене хрестити водою, сказав мені: на Кому побачиш Духа, Який сходить і перебуває на Ньому, Той хреститиме Духом Святим.	And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

І я бачив і засвідчив, що Цей є Син Божий.	And I have seen, and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.

Наступного дня знову стояв Іоан з двома з його учнів.	Again on the morrow John was standing, and two of his disciples;

І, побачивши Ісуса, Який ішов, сказав: ось Агнець Божий.	and he looked upon Jesus as he walked, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!

Почувши від нього ці слова, обидва учні пішли за Ісусом.	And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Ісус же, обернувшись і побачивши, що вони йдуть за Ним, говорить їм: чого ви шукаєте? Вони сказали Йому: Равві [що означає: Учителю]! Де Ти живеш?	And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? And they said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), where abidest thou?

Говорить їм: підіть і побачите. Вони пішли і побачили, де Він живе; і пробули у Нього той день, а було близько десятої години.	He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day: it was about the tenth hour.

Одним з тих двох, які чули від Іоана про Ісуса і пішли за Ним, був Андрій, брат Симона-Петра.	One of the two that heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Він спочатку розшукав брата свого Симона і каже йому: ми знайшли Месію, що означає: Христос.	He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

І привів його до Ісуса. Ісус же, поглянувши на нього, сказав: ти — Симон, син Іони; ти наречешся Кифа, що означає камінь [Петро].	And he brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonah: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, Peter).

Наступного дня Ісус захотів йти до Галилеї; і знаходить Филипа, і каже йому: йди за Мною.	On the morrow he was minded to go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philip: and Jesus saith unto him, Follow me.

Филип же був з Вифсаїди, з одного міста з Андрієм і Петром.	Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.

Филип знаходить Нафанаїла і каже йому: ми знайшли Того, про Якого писали Мойсей у законі і пророки, Ісуса, сина Йосифа, з Назарета.	Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Але Нафанаїл сказав йому: чи може щось добре бути з Назарета? Филип говорить йому: піди і подивись.	And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

Ісус, побачивши Нафанаїла, який ішов до Нього, говорить про нього: ось воістину ізраїльтянин, у якому нема лукавства.	Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

Нафанаїл говорить Йому: звідки Ти мене знаєш? Ісус відповів йому: перше ніж покликав тебе Филип, Я бачив тебе під смоковницею.	Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

Нафанаїл відповів Йому: Учителю! Ти — Син Божий, Ти — Цар Ізраїлів.	Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

Ісус сказав йому у відповідь: через те, що Я сказав тобі, що бачив тебе під смоковницею, ти віруєш; більше цього побачиш.	Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee underneath the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

І говорить йому: істинно, істинно кажу вам: віднині побачите небо відкрите і ангелів Божих, які піднімаються і спускаються над Сином Людським.	And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
