Глава 11	Chapter 11

1	1
Був один недужий — Лазар з Вифанії, села Марії та її сестри Марфи.	Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
2	2
Марія ж, брат якої Лазар був недужий, була та, що помазала Господа миром і обтерла ноги Його волоссям своїм.	And it was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

Сестри послали сказати Йому: Господи, ось, кого Ти любиш, нездужає.	The sisters therefore sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

Ісус, почувши те, сказав: ця недуга не на смерть, а на славу Божу, щоб через неї прославився Син Божий.	But when Jesus heard it, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.

Ісус же любив Марфу і сестру її та Лазаря.	Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

Коли ж почув, що він хворий, то пробув два дні на тому місці, де знаходився.	When therefore he heard that he was sick, he abode at that time two days in the place where he was.

Після цього сказав ученикам: підемо знову до Юдеї.	Then after this he saith to the disciples, Let us go into Judea again.

Ученики сказали Йому: Учителю, чи давно юдеї намагалися побити Тебе камінням, і Ти знову йдеш туди?	The disciples say unto him, Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9	9
Ісус відповів: чи не дванадцять годин є у дні? Хто ходить удень, той не спотикається, тому що бачить світло світу цього;	Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10	10
а хто ходить уночі, спотикається, бо немає світла з ним.	But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.
11	11
Сказавши це, говорить їм потім: Лазар, друг наш, заснув; але Я йду розбудити його.	These things spake he: and after this he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

Ученики Його сказали: Господи, якщо заснув, то одужає.	His disciples therefore said, Lord, if he is fallen asleep, he will recover.

Ісус говорив про смерть його, а вони думали, що Він говорить про звичайний сон.	Now Jesus had spoken of his death: but they thought that he spake of taking rest in sleep.
14	14
Тоді Ісус сказав їм просто: Лазар помер;	Then Jesus therefore said unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15	15
і радію за вас, що Я не був там, щоб ви увірували; але ходімо до нього.	And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16	16
Тоді Фома, званий ще Близнюком, сказав ученикам: ходімо й ми і помремо з Ним.	Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Прийшовши, Ісус знайшов, що він уже чотири дні у гробі.	So when Jesus came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.

Вифанія ж була поблизу Єрусалима, стадій з п’ятнадцять.	Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off;
19	19
І багато юдеїв прийшли до Марфи й Марії, щоб утішити їх у скорботі за братом їхнім.	and many of the Jews had come the women around Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.

Марфа, почувши, що йде Ісус, вийшла назустріч Йому; Марія ж сиділа вдома.	Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary still sat in the house.

Тоді Марфа сказала Ісусові: Господи! Якби Ти був тут, не помер би брат мій.	Martha therefore said unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22	22
Але й тепер знаю, що, коли чого Ти попросиш у Бога, дасть Тобі Бог.	But even now I know that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God will give thee.
23	23
Ісус говорить їй: воскресне брат твій.	Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24	24
Марфа сказала Йому: знаю, що воскресне при воскресінні, в останній день.	Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25	25
Ісус сказав їй: Я є воскресіння і життя; хто вірує в Мене, якщо і помре, оживе.	Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he die, yet shall he live;
26	26
І кожен, хто живе і вірує в Мене, не помре повік. Чи віриш цьому?	and whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Вона говорить Йому: так, Господи! Я вірую, що Ти Христос, Син Божий, Який гряде у світ.	She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, even he that cometh into the world.

Сказавши так, пішла і покликала Марію, сестру свою, нишком, кажучи: Учитель тут і кличе тебе.	And when she had said these things, she went away, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Teacher is here, and calleth thee.

Вона, як тільки почула, поспішно встала і пішла до Нього.	She, when she heard it, arose quickly, and goeth unto him.

Ісус ще не входив у село, але був на тому місці, де зустріла Його Марфа.	(Now Jesus was not yet come into the village, but was in the place where Martha met him.)

Юдеї, які були з нею в домі і втішали її, коли побачили, що Марія поспішно встала і вийшла, пішли за нею, гадаючи, що вона пішла до гробу — плакати там.	The Jews then who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the tomb to weep there.

Марія ж, прийшовши туди, де був Ісус, та побачивши Його, впала до ніг Його і сказала Йому: Господи! Якби Ти був тут, не помер би брат мій.	Mary therefore, when she came where Jesus was, and saw him, fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

Ісус, коли побачив, що вона плаче і плачуть юдеї, які прийшли з нею, Сам уболівав духом і зворушився.	When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

І сказав: де ви поклали його? Кажуть Йому: Господи, піди і подивись.	and said, Where have ye laid him? They say unto him, Lord, come and see.

Заплакав Ісус.	Jesus wept.

Тоді юдеї говорили: дивись, як Він любив його.	The Jews therefore said, Behold how he loved him!

А деякі з них сказали: чи не міг би Цей, що відкрив очі сліпому, зробити так, щоб і цей не помер?	But some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him that was blind, have caused that this man also should not die?

Ісус же, знову пройнявшись жалем, приходить до гробу. То була печера, і камінь лежав на ній.	Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

Ісус говорить: візьміть камінь. Сестра померлого, Марфа, говорить Йому: Господи! Вже смердить, бо чотири дні, як він у гробі.	Jesus saith, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time the body decayeth; for he hath been dead four days.

Ісус говорить їй: чи не сказав Я тобі, що, коли будеш вірувати, побачиш славу Божу?	Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Відвалили камінь від печери, де лежав померлий. Ісус звів очі до неба і сказав: Отче! Хвалу Тобі воздаю, що Ти почув Мене.	So they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou heardest me.

Я і знав, що Ти завжди почуєш Мене; але сказав це для народу, який стоїть тут, щоб повірили, що Ти послав Мене.	And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the multitude that standeth around I said it, that they may believe that thou didst send me.

Сказавши це, Він голосно промовив: Лазарю! Вийди геть.	And when he had thus spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

І вийшов померлий, оповитий по руках і ногах поховальними пеленами, і обличчя його обв’язане було хусткою. Ісус говорить їм: розв’яжіть його, нехай іде.	And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Тоді багато з юдеїв, які прийшли до Марії і бачили, що сотворив Ісус, увірували в Нього.	Many therefore of the Jews, who came to Mary and beheld the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46	46
А деякі з них пішли до фарисеїв і сказали їм, що зробив Ісус.	But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done.
47	47
Тоді первосвященики й фарисеї зібрали раду і говорили: що нам робити? Цей Чоловік багато чудес творить.	The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many signs.

Якщо залишимо Його так, то всі увірують у Нього, і прийдуть римляни і заволодіють містом нашим і народом.	If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.

Один же з них, на ім’я Каяфа, який був того року первосвящеником, сказав їм: ви нічого не знаєте,	But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

і не подумаєте, що краще нам, щоб один чоловік помер за людей, ніж щоб увесь народ загинув.	nor do ye consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

Це ж сказав він не від себе, а, будучи того року первосвящеником, пророкував, що Ісус мав померти за народ, —	Now this he said not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;
52	52
і не тільки за народ, але щоб і розсіяні чада Божі зібрати воєдино.	and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God that are scattered abroad.

З того дня змовились убити Його.	So from that day forth they took counsel together that they might put him to death.

І тому Ісус уже не ходив між юдеями явно, а пішов звідти в країну поблизу пустелі, в місто, що зветься Єфрем, і там залишився з учениками Своїми.	Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed thence into the country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there he tarried with his disciples.

Наближалася Пасха юдейська, і багато людей з усієї країни прийшло до Єрусалима перед Пасхою, щоб очиститися.	Now the passover of the Jews was at hand: and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, to purify themselves.

Тоді шукали Ісуса і, стоячи в храмі, говорили один одному: як вам здається? Чи не прийде Він на свято?	They sought therefore for Jesus, and spake one with another, as they stood in the temple, What think ye? That he will not come to the feast?

А первосвященики і фарисеї дали наказ, що, коли хто довідається, де Він буде, нехай повідомить, щоб їм схопити Його.	Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.
