Глава 15	Chapter 15

1	1
Всі митарі і грішники наближалися до Нього, щоб послухати Його.	Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.

І нарікали фарисеї та книжники, кажучи: Він приймає грішників і їсть з ними.	And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

Але Він розповів їм таку притчу:	And he spake unto them this parable, saying,

який чоловік з вас, маючи сто овець і загубивши одну з них, не залишить дев’яносто дев’ять у пустелі і не йде за загубленою, доки не знайде її?	What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

І, знайшовши її, з радістю візьме на плечі свої.	And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

І, прийшовши додому, скликає друзів і сусідів, кажучи їм: порадійте зі мною; я знайшов вівцю мою загублену.	And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Кажу вам, що так на небесах більше буде радости за одного грішника, що кається, ніж за дев’яносто дев’ять праведників, які не потребують покаяння.	I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

Або яка жінка, маючи десять драхм^*, якщо загубить одну драхму, не запалює світильник, і не замітає кімнату, і шукає старанно, доки не знайде,	Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it?

а знайшовши, покличе подруг і сусідок і скаже: порадійте зі мною, бо я знайшла загублену драхму.	And when she hath found it, she calleth together her friends and her neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.

Такою, кажу вам, буває радість у ангелів Божих за одного грішника, що покаявся.	Even so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Ще сказав: один чоловік мав двох синів.	And he said, A certain man had two sons:

І сказав молодший з них батькові: батьку, дай мені частину майна, що належить мені. І батько розділив між ними майно.	and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of thy substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

Через кілька днів молодший син, зібравши все, пішов у далекий край і там розтратив своє майно, живучи розпусно.	And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country; and there he wasted his substance with riotous living.

Коли ж він усе розтратив, настав великий голод у тій країні, і він почав бідувати.	And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.
15	15
І пішов, пристав до одного з жителів тієї країни; а той послав його на свої поля пасти свиней.	And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16	16
І він радий був насититися стручками, які їли свині, але ніхто не давав йому.	And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

Опам’ятавшись, він сказав: скільки наймитів у батька мого мають надлишок хліба, а я вмираю з голоду;	But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

встану, піду до батька мого і скажу йому: батьку! Згрішив я перед небом і перед тобою	I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight:
19	19
і вже недостойний зватися твоїм сином; прийми мене як одного з наймитів твоїх.	and I am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

Встав і пішов до батька свого. І коли він був ще далеко, батько побачив його і переповнився жалем; побіг і, кинувшись йому на шию, цілував його.	And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21	21
Син же сказав йому: батьку! Я згрішив перед небом і перед тобою і вже недостойний зватися твоїм сином.	And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: and I am no more worthy to be called thy son.

А батько сказав рабам своїм: принесіть найкращий одяг і вдягніть його, і дайте перстень на руку його і взуття на ноги;	But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

і приведіть відгодоване теля, і заколіть; будемо їсти і веселитися!	and bring the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat, and make merry:

Бо син мій оцей був мертвий і ожив, пропав і знайшовся. І почали веселитися.	for this my son was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25	25
А старший син його був у полі; і коли, повертаючись, наблизився до дому, почув музику та співи та радощі;	Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26	26
і, покликавши одного із слуг, запитав: що це таке?	And he called to him one of the servants, and inquired what these things might be.
27	27
Той же сказав йому: брат твій прийшов; і батько твій заколов відгодоване теля, бо прийняв його здоровим.	And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

Він розгнівався і не схотів увійти. Батько ж його, вийшовши, кликав його.	But he was angry, and would not go in: therefore his father came out, and entreated him.
29	29
Але він сказав у відповідь батькові: ось я стільки років служу тобі і ніколи заповіді твоєї не переступав, але ти ніколи не дав мені й козляти, щоб мені повеселитися з друзями моїми.	But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

Коли ж цей син твій, що змарнував добро своє з блудницями, прийшов, ти заколов для нього відгодоване теля.	but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.
31	31
Він же сказав йому: сину, ти завжди зі мною, і все моє — твоє.	And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine.
32	32
Веселитися ж і радіти треба тому, що брат твій оцей був мертвий і ожив, пропав і знайшовся.	But it was meet to make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
