| І сталося в один з тих днів, коли Він навчав народ у храмі і благовістив, прийшли первосвященики і книжники зі старійшинами. | And it came to pass, on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, there came upon him the priests and the scribes with the elders; |
|

|
| І запитали Його: скажи нам, якою владою Ти це робиш, або хто дав Тобі цю владу? | and they spake unto him, saying, Tell us: By what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? |
|

|
| Він сказав їм у відповідь: запитаю і Я вас про одне, скажіть Мені — | And he answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question; and tell me: |
|

|
| хрещення Іоанове було з небес чи від людей? | The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men? |
|

|

|
| Вони ж, міркуючи між собою, говорили: коли скажемо, що з небес, то Він скаже: чому ж ви не повірили йому? | And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why did ye not believe him? |
|

| А коли скажемо, що від людей, то весь народ поб’є нас камінням, бо він упевнений, що Іоан є пророк. | But if we shall say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet. |
|

|
| І відповіли: не знаємо, звідки. | And they answered, that they knew not whence it was. |
|

|
| Ісус сказав їм: то і Я не скажу вам, якою владою це роблю. | And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. |
|

|
| І почав Він розповідати людям таку притчу: один чоловік насадив виноградник і віддав його виноградарям, та й відбув на довгий час. | And he began to speak unto the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country for a long time. |
|

|
| І у певний час послав до виноградарів раба, щоб вони дали йому плодів з виноградника; але виноградарі, побивши його, відіслали ні з чим. | And at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. |

| Ще послав другого раба; але вони і того, побивши і зневаживши, відіслали ні з чим. | And he sent yet another servant: and him also they beat, and handled him shamefully, and sent him away empty. |
|

|
| І ще послав третього; але вони і того, поранивши, вигнали. | And he sent yet a third: and him also they wounded, and cast him forth. |
|

|
| Тоді господар виноградника сказав: що мені робити? Пошлю сина мого улюбленого; може, побачивши його, посоромляться. | And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will reverence him when they see him. |
|

|
| А виноградарі, побачивши його, міркували між собою, кажучи: це спадкоємець, ходім уб’ємо його, щоб спадщина була нашою. | But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. |
|

|
| І, вивівши його геть з виноградника, вбили. Що зробить з ними господар виноградника? | And they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do unto them? |
|

|
| Прийде і погубить виноградарів тих, і віддасть виноградник іншим. Ті, що слухали це, сказали: нехай не буде так! | He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. |
|

|
| А Він, поглянувши на них, сказав: що значить оце написане: камінь, який відкинули будівничі, той самий став наріжним каменем? | But he looked upon them, and said, What then is this that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner? |
|

|
| Кожний, хто впаде на той камінь, розіб’ється; а на кого він упаде, того роздавить. | Everyone that falleth on that stone shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust. |
|

|
| І шукали в цей час первосвященики і книжники, як накласти на Нього руки, та побоялися народу; бо зрозуміли, що про них сказав Він цю притчу. | And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him in that very hour; and they were afraid: for they perceived that he spake this parable against them. |
|

| І, слідкуючи за Ним, підіслали лукавих людей, які, вдаючи з себе праведних, зловили б Його на слові, щоб видати Його начальникам і владі правителя. | And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who feigned themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his speech, so that they might deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor. |

| І вони запитали Його: Учителю, ми знаємо, що Ти правдиво говориш і навчаєш, і не дивишся на особу, але істинно на путь Божу наставляєш; | And they asked him, saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest not the person of any, but of a truth teachest the way of God: |

| чи належить нам давати податок кесареві, чи ні? | Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? |

|
| Він же, зрозумівши їхнє лукавство, сказав їм: чого Мене спокушаєте? | But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why make ye trial of me? |
|

|
| Покажіть Мені динарій — чиє на ньому зображення і напис? Вони відповіли: кесареве. | Show me a denarius. Whose image and superscription hath it? And they answered and said, Caesar’s. |
|

|
| Він сказав їм: отже, віддавайте кесареве кесареві, а Боже — Богові. | And he said unto them, Render then unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s. |
|

| І не могли впіймати Його на слові перед народом і, здивувавшись відповіді Його, замовкли. | And they were not able to take hold of his saying before the people: and they marveled at his answer, and held their peace. |
|

|
| Тоді прийшли деякі з саддукеїв, які не визнають воскресіння, і запитали Його: | And there came to him certain of the Sadducees, they that deny that there is a resurrection; and they asked him, |
|

28
|
| Учителю, Мойсей написав нам: коли у кого помре брат, що мав жінку, і помре бездітним, то нехай брат його візьме жінку його, відродить потомство братові своєму. | saying, Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, that if a man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. |

| Отже, було сім братів, і перший взяв жінку і помер бездітним; | There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died childless; |

|
| узяв ту жінку другий, і той помер бездітним; | and the second took her to wife, and he died childless: |
|

|
| узяв її третій, так само і всі семеро; і, не залишивши дітей, померли. | and the third likewise took her; and likewise the seven also: they left no children, and died. |
|

|

|
| Після всіх померла і жінка. | And last of all the woman also died. |
|

|
| Отже, у воскресінні, якому з них буде вона жінкою? Бо семеро мали її за дружину. | In the resurrection therefore whose wife of them shall she be? for the seven had her to wife. |
|

|
| Ісус сказав їм у відповідь: сини віку цього женяться і виходять заміж; | And Jesus answered and said unto them, The sons of this world marry, and are given in marriage: |

35
|
| а ті, що сподобилися досягти того віку і воскресіння з мертвих, не женяться і не виходять заміж. | but they that are accounted worthy to attain to that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: |
|

|
36
|
| І вмерти вже не можуть; бо вони рівні з ангелами і є сини Божі, ставши синами воскресіння. | for neither can they die anymore: for they are equal unto the angels; and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. |
|

|

|
| А що мертві воскресають, і Мойсей показав при купині, коли Господа назвав Богом Авраама, і Богом Ісаака, і Богом Якова. | But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the place concerning the Bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. |

| Бог же не є Бог мертвих, а живих. Бо в Нього всі живі. | Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. |
|

|
| На це деякі з книжників сказали: Учителю, Ти добре сказав. | And certain of the scribes answered and said, Teacher, thou hast well said. |
|

|
40
|
| І більше не насмілювалися запитувати Його ні про що. Він же сказав їм: | And they durst not anymore ask him any question. |
|

|
41
|
| як це кажуть, що Христос є сином Давидовим, | And he said unto them, How say they that the Christ is David’s son? |
|

|
42
|
| А сам Давид говорить у книзі псалмів: сказав Господь Господеві моєму: сиди праворуч Мене, | Even David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, |

|
| доки покладу ворогів Твоїх підніжжям ніг Твоїх? | Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet. |
|

|
44
|
| Отже, Давид називає Його Господом; як же Він син йому? | David therefore calleth him Lord, and how is he his son? |
|

|
45
|
| І коли увесь народ слухав, Він сказав ученикам Своїм: | And in the hearing of all the people he said unto his disciples, |
|

|
46
|
| стережіться книжників, які люблять ходити в довгому одязі і люблять, щоб їх вітали на народних зібраннях, мати перші місця в синагогах і перші місця на вечерях, | Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and love salutations in the marketplaces, and chief seats in the synagogues, and chief places at feasts; |

| які з’їдають доми вдів і лицемірно довго моляться; вони приймуть тим більше осудження. | who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater condemnation. |
