| And Job further continued and said in his parable, | І продовжував Іов піднесену промову свою і сказав: |

| As God lives, who has thus judged me; and the Almighty, who has embittered my soul; | живий Бог, Який позбавив мене суду, і Вседержитель, Який засмутив душу мою, |
|

|
| verily, while my breath is yet in me, and the breath of God which remains to me is in my nostrils, | бо, доки ще дихання моє в мені і дух Божий у ніздрях моїх, |
|

|
| my lips shall not speak evil words, neither shall my soul meditate unrighteous thoughts. | не скажуть вуста мої неправди, і язик мій не вимовить лжі! |
|

|
| Far be it from me that I should justify you till I die; for I will not let go my innocence, | Далекий я від того, щоб визнати вас справедливими; доки не помру, не уступлю непорочности моєї. |
|

|
| but keeping fast to my righteousness I will by no means let it go: for I am not conscious to myself of having done any thing amiss. | Міцно тримав я правду мою і не відпущу її; не докорить мені серце моє в усі дні мої. |

|
| Nay rather, but let mine enemies be as the overthrow of the ungodly, and they that rise up against me, as the destruction of transgressors. | Ворог мій буде, як нечестивець, і той, хто повстає на мене, як беззаконник. |
|

|
| For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved? | Бо яка надія лицемірові, коли візьме, коли вивергне Бог душу його? |

| Will God hear his prayer? or, when distress has come upon him, | Чи почує Бог крик його, коли прийде на нього лихо? |

|
| has he any confidence before him? or will God hear him as he calls upon him? | Чи буде він утішатися Вседержителем і закликати Бога повсякчас? |

|
| Yet now I will tell you what is in the hand of the Lord: I will not lie concerning the things which are with the Almighty. | Сповіщу вам, що? у руці Божій; що? у Вседержителя, не приховаю. |
|

|
| Behold, ye all know that ye are adding vanity to vanity. | Ось, усі ви і самі бачили; і для чого ви стільки пустословите? |
|

|

|
| This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of oppressors shall come upon them from the Almighty. | Ось доля беззаконній людині від Бога, і спадщина, яку одержують від Вседержителя гнобителі. |
|

|
| And if their children be many, they shall be for slaughter: and if they grow up, they shall beg. | Якщо примножуються сини його, то під меч; і нащадки його не наситяться хлібом. |
|

|
| And they that survive of him shall utterly perish, and no one shall pity their widows. | Тих, що залишилися після нього, смерть зведе в гріб, і вдови їхні не будуть плакати. |
|

|
| Even if he should gather silver as earth, and prepare gold as clay; | Якщо він набере купи срібла, як пороху, і наготує одягу, як глини, |

|
| all these things shall the righteous gain, and the truehearted shall possess his wealth. | то він наготує, а вдягатися буде праведник, і срібло одержить собі в частку непорочний. |

|
| And his house is gone like moths, and like a spider's web. | Він будує, як міль, дім свій і, як сторож, робить собі курінь; |

|
| The rich man shall lie down, and shall not continue: he has opened his eyes, and he is not. | лягає спати багатієм і таким не встане; відкриває очі свої, і він уже не той. |
|

|
| Pains have come upon him as water, and darkness has carried him away by night. | Як води, осягнуть його жахи; в ночі викраде його буря. |
|

|
| And a burning wind shall catch him, and he shall depart, and it shall utterly drive him out of his place. | Підніме його східний вітер і понесе, і він швидко побіжить від нього. |
|

22
|
| And God shall cast trouble upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand. | Накинеться на нього і не пощадить, як би він не намагався втекти від руки його. |
|

|
| He shall cause men to clap their hands against them, and shall hiss him out of his place. | Сплеснуть про нього руками і засвистять над ним з місця його! |
