And Elius continued, and said,

Hear me, ye wise men; hearken, ye that have knowledge.
|
вислухайте, мудрі, слова мої, і прихиліть до мене вухо, розсудливі!

|
For the ear tries words, and the mouth tastes meat.
|
Бо вухо розрізняє слова, як гортань розрізняє смак їжі.
|
|

|
|
Let us choose judgment to ourselves: let us know among ourselves what is right.
|
Співставляємо між собою міркування і розпізнаємо, що добре.
|
|

|
|
For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment.
|
Ось, Іов сказав: я правий, але Бог позбавив мене суду.
|
|

|
|
And he has erred in my judgment: my wound is severe without unrighteousness of mine.
|
Чи повинен я говорити лжу на правду мою? Моя рана незцілима без провини.
|
|

|
|
What man is as Job, drinking scorning like water?
|
Чи є така людина, як Іов, який п’є знущання, як воду,
|
|

|
|
saying, I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly.
|
вступає у співтовариство з тими, хто чинить беззаконня і ходить з людьми нечестивими?
|
|

|
|
For thou shouldest not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas there is a visitation on him from the Lord.
|
Тому що він сказав: немає користи для людини у благовгоджанні Богу.
|
|

|
|
Wherefore hear me, ye that are wise in heart: far be it from me to sin before the Lord, and to pervert righteousness before the Almighty.
|
Отже, послухайте мене, мужі мудрі! Не може бути в Бога неправда або у Вседержителя неправосуддя,

|
|
Yea, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, and in a man's path he will find him.
|
бо Він за ділами людини чинить з нею і за путями чоловіка відплачує йому.
|
|

|

|
|
And thinkest thou that the Lord will do wrong, or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment?
|
Істинно, Бог не чинить неправди і Вседержитель не спотворює суд.
|
|

|

|
|
And who is he that made the whole world under heaven, and all things therein?
|
Хто, крім Нього, промишляє про землю? І хто керує всією вселенною?
|
|
14
|

|
|
For if he would confine, and restrain his spirit with himself;
|
Якби Він звернув серце Своє до Себе і взяв до Себе дух її і подих її,
|
|
15
|
15
|
|
all flesh would die together, and every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed.
|
миттєво загинула б усяка плоть, і людина повернулася б у порох.
|
|

|

|
|
Take heed lest he rebuke thee: hear this, hearken to the voice of words.
|
Отже, якщо ти маєш розум, то слухай це і зважай на слова мої.
|

|
|
Behold then the one that hates iniquities, and that destroys the wicked, who is for ever just.
|
Чи може ненависник правди володарювати? І чи можеш ти звинуватити Всеправедного?
|
|

|
|
He is ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, that says to princes, O most ungodly one.
|
Чи можна сказати цареві: ти — нечестивець, і князям: ви — беззаконники?
|
|
19
|
19
|
|
Such a one as would not reverence the face of an honourable man, neither knows how to give honour to the great, so as that their persons should be respected.
|
Але Він не дивиться і на лиця князів і не дає переваги багатому над бідним, тому що усі вони діло рук Його.
|
|

|

|
|
But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside from their right.
|
Раптово вони помирають; серед ночі народ обуриться, і вони зникають; і сильних виганяють не силою.
|
|

|

|
|
For he surveys the works of men, and nothing of what they do has escaped him.
|
Тому що очі Його над путями людини, і Він бачить усі кроки її.
|
|

|
|
Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves.
|
Немає пітьми, ні тіні смертної, де могли б сховатися ті, що чинять беззаконня.
|
|

|
|
For he will not lay upon a man more than right.
|
Тому Він уже не вимагає від людини, щоб вона йшла на суд з Богом.
|
|

|

|
|
For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number.
|
Він скрушає сильних без дослідження і поставляє інших на їхні місця;
|
|
25
|
25
|
|
Who discovers their works, and will bring night about upon them, and they shall be brought low.
|
тому що Він робить відомими діла їхні і скидає їх уночі, і вони знищуються.
|
|

|

|
|
And he quite destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before him.
|
Він уражає їх, як беззаконних людей, перед очима інших,
|
|
27
|
27
|
|
Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances,
|
за те, що вони відвернулися від Нього і не зрозуміли всіх шляхів Його,
|
|
28
|
28
|
|
so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor.
|
так що дійшло до Нього волання бідних, і Він почув стогін пригноблених.
|
|

|
29
|
|
And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man also:
|
Чи дарує Він тишу, хто може збурити? чи ховає Він лице Своє, хто може побачити Його? Чи буде це для народу, чи для однієї людини,

causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people.
|
щоб не царював лицемір на спокусу народу.
|
|

|
|
For there is one that says to the Mighty One, I have received blessings; I will not take a pledge:
|
До Бога слід говорити: я потерпів, більше не буду грішити.
|
|

|

|
|
I will see apart from myself: do thou shew me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do so any more.
|
А чого я не знаю, Ти навчи мене; і якщо я зробив беззаконня, більше не буду.
|
|

|

|
|
Will he take vengeance for it on thee, whereas thou wilt put it far from thee? for thou shalt choose, and not I; and what thou knowest, speak thou.
|
Чи за твоїм міркуванням Він повинен відплачувати? І оскільки ти відкидаєш, то тобі варто обирати, а не мені; говори, що знаєш.

|
Because the wise in heart shall say this, and a wise man listens to my word.
|
Люди розумні скажуть мені, і муж мудрий, який слухає мене:
|

|
|
But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not uttered with knowledge.
|
Іов нерозумно говорить, і слова його не мають сенсу.
|
|

|
|
Howbeit do thou learn, Job: no longer make answer as the foolish:
|
Я бажав би, щоб Іов цілком був випробуваний, за відповідями його, які властиві людям нечестивим.
|
|

|

|
|
that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if we speak many words before the Lord.
|
Інакше він до гріха свого додасть відступлення, буде рукоплескати між нами і ще більше наговорить проти Бога.
