| Wine and women will make men of understanding to fall away: and he that cleaveth to harlots will become impudent. | Вино і жінки розбестять розумних, а той, хто зв’язується з блудницями, зробиться ще нахабнішим; |

| Moths and worms shall have him to heritage, and a bold man shall be taken away. | гниль і черва успадкують його, і зухвала душа знищиться. |

| He that is hasty to give credit is light-minded; and he that sinneth shall offend against his own soul. | Хто швидко довіряє, той легковажний, і той, хто грішить, грішить проти душі своєї. |

| Whoso taketh pleasure in wickedness shall be condemned: | Відданий серцем задоволенням буде осуджений, а той, хто противиться похоті, увінчає життя своє. |

| but he that hateth babbling hath less of evil. | Той, хто приборкує язик, буде жити мирно, і хто ненавидить балакучість, зменшить зло. |

| Rehearse not unto another that which is told unto thee, and thou shalt fare never the worse. | Ніколи не повторюй слова, і нічого ти не втратиш. |

| Whether it be to friend or foe, talk not of other men's lives; and if thou canst not without offence, reveal them not. | Ні другові ні недругові не розповідай і, якщо це тобі не гріх, не відкривай; |

| For he heard and observed thee, and when time cometh he will hate thee. | бо він вислухає тебе, і буде остерігатися тебе, і з часом зненавидить тебе. |

| If thou hast heard a word, let it die with thee; and be bold, it will not burst thee. | Вислухав ти слово, нехай помре воно з тобою: не бійся, не розірве воно тебе. |

| A fool travaileth with a word, as a woman in labour of a child. | Дурний від слова терпить таку ж муку, як та, що народжує, — від немовляти. |

| As an arrow that sticketh in a man's thigh, so is a word within a fool's belly. | Що стріла, устромлена у стегно, те слово у серці дурного. |

| Admonish a friend, it may be he hath not done it: and if he have done it, that he do it no more. | Розпитай друга твого, можливо, не зробив він того; і якщо зробив, то нехай надалі не робить. |

| Admonish a friend: for many times it is a slander, and believe not every tale. | Розпитай друга, бо часто буває наклеп. |

| There is one that slippeth in his speech, but not from his heart; and who is he that hath not offended with his tongue? | Не всякому слову вір. |

| Admonish thy neighbour before thou threaten him; and give place to the law of the most High. | Хтось згрішає словом, але не від душі; і хто не згрішав язиком своїм? |

| The fear of the Lord is all wisdom; and in all wisdom is the performance of the law. | Є лукавство, і це мерзота; і є нерозумний, убогий мудрістю. |

| The knowledge of wickedness is not wisdom, neither at any time the counsel of sinners prudence. | Є хитрість вишукана, але вона беззаконна, і є спотворюючий суд, щоб винести вирок. |

| There is a wickedness, and the same an abomination; and there is a fool wanting in wisdom. | Є лукавий, який ходить зігнувшись, сумуючи, але всередині він повен підступу. |

| He that hath small understanding, and feareth God, is better than one that hath much wisdom, and transgresseth the law of the most High. | Він поник лицем і прикидається глухим, але він випередить тебе там, де і не думаєш. |

| There is an exquisite subtilty, and the same is unjust; and there is one that turneth aside to make judgment appear. | І якщо нестача сили перешкодить йому зашкодити тобі, то він зробить тобі зло, коли знайде випадок. |

| casting down his countenance, and making as if he heard not: where he is not known, he will do thee a mischief before thou be aware. | Одяг і вискалювання зубів і хода людини показують властивість її. |

| And if for want of power he be hindered from sinning, yet when he findeth opportunity he will do evil. | Буває викриття, але невчасне, і буває, що хтось мовчить — і він розсудливий. |

| A man may be known by his look, and one that hath understanding by his countenance, when thou meetest him. | |

| A man's attire, and excessive laughter, and gait, shew what he is. |
