|
If thou be made the master of a feast, lift not thyself up, but be among them as one of the rest; take diligent care for them, and so sit down.

Хто дотримується закону, той примножує приношення; хто дотримується заповідей, той приносить жертву спасіння.

|
And when thou hast done all thy office, take thy place, that thou mayest be merry with them, and receive a crown for thy well ordering of the feast.
|
Хто воздає подяку, той приносить семидал; а хто подає милостиню, той приносить жертву хвали.
|

|
Speak, thou that art the elder, for it becometh thee, but with sound judgment; and hinder not music.
|
Благоугодження Господу — відступ від зла, й умилостивлення Його — відхилення від неправди.
|

|
|
Pour not out words where there is a musician, and shew not forth wisdom out of time.
|
Не являйся перед лице Господа з порожніми руами, бо усе це — за заповіддю.
|

|
|
A concert of music in a banquet of wine is as a signet of carbuncle set in gold.
|
Приношення праведного наповнює вівтар, і пахощі його — перед Всевишнім;
|
|

|
|
As a signet of an emerald set in a work of gold, so is the melody of music with pleasant wine.
|
жертва праведного мужа благоприємна, і пам’ять про неї незабутньою буде.
|
|

|
Speak, young man, if there be need of thee: and yet scarcely when thou art twice asked.
|
З веселим оком прославляй Господа і не применшуй початків праць твоїх;
|
|

|
|
Let thy speech be short, comprehending much in few words; be as one that knoweth and yet holdeth his tongue.
|
при усякому дарі май лице веселе і в радості присвячуй десятину.
|
|

|
|
If thou be among great men, make not thyself equal with them; and when ancient men are in place, use not many words.
|
Давай Всевишньому за дари Його, і з веселим оком — мірою придбання рукою твоєю,
|
|

|
|
Before the thunder goeth lightning; and before a shamefaced man shall go favour.
|
бо Господь є воздаятель і воздасть тобі усемеро.
|
|

|
|
Rise up betimes, and be not the last; but get thee home without delay.
|
Не зменшуй дарів, бо Він не прийме їх: і не надійся на неправедну жертву,
|
|

|
|
There take thy pastime, and do what thou wilt: but sin not by proud speech.
|
бо Господь є суддя, і Він не дивиться на лиця:
|

|
|
And for these things bless him that made thee, and hath replenished thee with his good things.
|
Він не надає переваги якомусь лицю перед бідним і молитву скривдженого почує;
|
|

|
|
Whoso feareth the Lord will receive his discipline; and they that seek him early shall find favour.
|
Він не знехтує моління сироти, ні вдови, коли вона буде промовляти прохання своє.
|
|

|
|
He that seeketh the law shall be filled therewith: but the hypocrite will be offended thereat.
|
Чи не сльози вдови ллються по щоках, і чи не волає вона проти того, хто вимушує їх?
|
|

|
|
They that fear the Lord shall find judgment, and shall kindle justice as a light.
|
Хто служить Богу, той буде прийнятий з благоволінням, і молитва його дійде до хмар.
|

|
|
A sinful man will not be reproved, but findeth an excuse according to his will.
|
Молитва смиренного пройде крізь хмари, і він не утішиться, доки вона не наблизиться до Бога,
|
|

|
|
A man of counsel will be considerate; but a strange and proud man is not daunted with fear, even when of himself he hath done without counsel.
|
і не відступить, доки Всевишній не спогляне і не розсудить справедливо і не винесе рішення.
|

|
|
Do nothing without advice; and when thou hast once done, repent not.
|
І Господь не забариться і не потерпить, доки не скрушить стегна немилосердних;
|
|

|

|
|
Go not in a way wherein thou mayest fall, and stumble not among the stones.
|
Він буде воздавати помсту і народам, доки не знищить сонму гнобителів і не скрушить скіпетрів неправедних,
|
|

|
|
Be not confident in a plain way.
|
доки не воздасть людині за її ділами, і за діла людей — за намірами їхніми,
|
|

|

|
|
And beware of thine own children.
|
доки не вчинить суд над народом Своїм і не обрадує їх Своєю милістю.
|
|

|
|
In every good work trust thy own soul; for this is the keeping of the commandments.
|
Своєчасна милість під час скорботи, як дощові хмари під час засухи.
|
|
24
|
|
|
He that believeth in the Lord taketh heed to the commandment; and he that trusteth in him shall fare never the worse.
|
