| На початку створив Бог небо і землю. | In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth. |

| Земля ж була безвидна і порожня, і темрява була над безоднею, і Дух Божий носився над водою. | But the earth was unsightly and unfurnished, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved over the water. |
|

| І сказав Бог: нехай буде світло. І стало світло. | And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. |
|

|
| І побачив Бог світло, що воно добре, і відокремив Бог світло від темряви. | And God saw the light that it was good, and God divided between the light and the darkness. |
|

|
| І назвав Бог світло днем, темряву ніччю. І був вечір, і був ранок: день перший. | And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night, and there was evening and there was morning, the first day. |
|

| І сказав Бог: нехай буде твердь посеред води, і нехай відділяє вона воду від води. [І стало так.] | And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the water, and let it be a division between water and water, and it was so. |
|

| І створив Бог твердь, і відокремив воду, що під твердю, від води, що над твердю. І стало так. | And God made the firmament, and God divided between the water which was under the firmament and the water which was above the firmament. |

| І назвав Бог твердь небом. [І побачив Бог, що це добре.] І був вечір, і був ранок: день другий. | And God called the firmament Heaven, and God saw that it was good, and there was evening and there was morning, the second day. |
|

| І сказав Бог: нехай збереться вода, що під небом, в одне місце, і нехай з’явиться суша. І стало так. [І зібралася вода під небом у свої місця, і з’явилася суша.] | And God said, Let the water which is under the heaven be collected into one place, and let the dry land appear, and it was so. And the water which was under the heaven was collected into its places, and the dry land appeared. |

| І назвав Бог сушу землею, а зібрання вод назвав морями. І побачив Бог, що це добре. | And God called the dry land Earth, and the gatherings of the waters he called Seas, and God saw that it was good. |

| І сказав Бог: нехай вирощує земля зелень, траву, що сіє насіння за [родом і за подобою своєю, і] дерево плідне, що приносить за родом своїм плід, у якому насіння його на землі. І стало так. | And God said, Let the earth bring forth the herb of grass bearing seed according to its kind and according to its likeness, and the fruit-tree bearing fruit whose seed is in it, according to its kind on the earth, and it was so. |

| І виростила земля зелень, траву, що сіє насіння за родом [і за подобою] її, і дерево [плідне], що приносить плід, у якому насіння його за родом його [на землі]. І побачив Бог, що це добре. | And the earth brought forth the herb of grass bearing seed according to its kind and according to its likeness, and the fruit tree bearing fruit whose seed is in it, according to its kind on the earth, and God saw that it was good. |

| І був вечір, і був ранок: день третій. | And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. |
|

| І сказав Бог: нехай будуть світила на тверді небесній [для освітлення землі і] для відокремлення дня від ночі, і для знамень, і часу, і днів, і років; | And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, to divide between day and night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and for years. |

| і нехай будуть вони світильниками на тверді небесній, щоб освітлювати землю. І стало так. | And let them be for light in the firmament of the heaven, so as to shine upon the earth, and it was so. |

| І створив Бог два світила великі: світило більше — для управління днем, і світило менше — для управління ніччю, і зорі; | And God made the two great lights, the greater light for regulating the day and the lesser light for regulating the night, the stars also. |

| і поставив їх Бог на тверді небесній, щоб світити на землю, | And God placed them in the firmament of the heaven, so as to shine upon the earth, |

| і управляти днем і ніччю, і відокремлювати світло від темряви. І побачив Бог, що це добре. | and to regulate day and night, and to divide between the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good. |

| І був вечір, і був ранок: день четвертий. | And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. |

| І сказав Бог: нехай породить вода плазунів, душу живу; і птахи нехай полетять над землею, під твердю небесною. [І стало так.] | And God said, Let the waters bring forth reptiles having life, and winged creatures flying above the earth in the firmament of heaven, and it was so. |

| І створив Бог риб великих і всяку душу тварин-плазунів, яких породила вода, за родом їх, і всякого птаха пернатого за родом його. І побачив Бог, що це добре. | And God made great whales, and every living reptile, which the waters brought forth according to their kinds, and every creature that flies with wings according to its kind, and God saw that they were good. |

| І благословив їх Бог, промовивши: плодіться і розмножуйтеся, і наповнюйте води в морях, і птахи нехай розмножуються на землі. | And God blessed them, saying, Increase and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let the creatures that fly be multiplied on the earth. |

| І був вечір, і був ранок: день п’ятий. | And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. |

|
| І сказав Бог: нехай родить земля душу живу за родом її, тварин і плазунів, і звірів земних за родом їх. І стало так. | And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind, quadrupeds and reptiles and wild beasts of the earth according to their kind, and it was so. |

| І створив Бог звірів земних за родом їх, і худобу за родом її, і всіх плазунів земних за родом їх. І побачив Бог, що це добре. | And God made the wild beasts of the earth according to their kind, and cattle according to their kind, and all the reptiles of the earth according to their kind, and God saw that they were good. |

| І сказав Бог: створімо людину за образом Нашим [і] за подобою Нашою, і нехай володарює вона над рибами морськими, і над птахами небесними, [і над звірами,] і над худобою, і над усією землею, і над усіма плазунами, що повзають по землі. | And God said, Let us make man according to our image and likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of heaven, and over the cattle and all the earth, and over all the reptiles that creep on the earth. |

| І створив Бог Людину за образом Своїм, за образом Божим створив її; чоловіка і жінку створив їх. | And God made man, according to the image of God he made him, male and female he made them. |

| І благословив їх Бог, і сказав їм Бог: плодіться і розмножуйтеся, і наповнюйте землю, і володійте нею, і владарюйте над рибами морськими [і над звірами,] і над птахами небесними, [і над усякою худобою, і над усією землею,] і над усякою твариною, що плазує по землі. | And God blessed them, saying, Increase and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the seas and flying creatures of heaven, and all the cattle and all the earth, and all the reptiles that creep on the earth. |

| І сказав Бог: ось, Я дав вам усяку траву, що сіє насіння, яка є на всій землі, і всяке дерево, яке має плід, що сіє насіння; — вам це буде в їжу; | And God said, Behold I have given to you every seed-bearing herb sowing seed which is upon all the earth, and every tree which has in itself the fruit of seed that is sown, to you it shall be for food. |

| а всім звірам земним, і всім птахам небесним, і всякому [плазуну,] на землі, в якому душа жива, дав Я всю зелень трав’яну в їжу. І стало так. | And to all the wild beasts of the earth, and to all the flying creatures of heaven, and to every reptile creeping on the earth, which has in itself the breath of life, even every green plant for food; and it was so. |

| І побачив Бог усе, що Він створив, і ось, добре воно. І був вечір, і був ранок: день шостий. | And God saw all the things that he had made, and, behold, they were very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. |
