| Після того Йосифові сказали: ось, батько твій хворий. І він узяв з собою двох синів своїх, Манассію і Єфрема [і пішов до Якова]. | And it came to pass after these things, that it was reported to Joseph, Behold, thy father is ill; and, having taken his two sons, Manasse and Ephraim, he came to Jacob. |

| Якова сповістили і сказали: ось, син твій Йосиф іде до тебе. Ізраїль зібрав сили свої і сів на постелі. | And it was reported to Jacob, saying, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh to thee; and Israel having strengthened himself, sat upon the bed. |

| І сказав Яків Йосифові: Бог Всемогутній явився мені в Лузі, в землі Ханаанській, і благословив мене, | And Jacob said to Joseph, My God appeared to me in Luza, in the land of Chanaan, and blessed me, |

| і сказав мені: ось, Я розплоджу тебе, і розмножу тебе, і породжу від тебе безліч народів, і дам землю цю нащадкам твоїм після тебе, у вічне володіння. | and said to me, Behold, I will increase thee, and multiply thee, and will make of thee multitudes of nations; and I will give this land to thee, and to thy seed after thee, for an everlasting possession. |

| І нині два сини твої, які народилися тобі в землі Єгипетській, до мого прибуття до тебе в Єгипет, мої вони; Єфрем і Манассія, як Рувим і Симеон, будуть мої; | Now then thy two sons, who were born to thee in the land of Egypt, before I came to thee into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasse, as Ruben and Symeon they shall be mine. |

| діти ж твої, які народяться від тебе після них, будуть твої; вони під ім’ям братів своїх будуть іменуватися в їхньому наслідді. | And the children which thou shalt beget hereafter, shall be in the name of their brethren; they shall be named after their inheritances. |

| Коли я йшов з Месопотамії, померла в мене Рахиль [мати твоя] у землі Ханаанській, по дорозі, не дійшовши трохи до Ефрафи, і я поховав її там по дорозі до Ефрафи, що нині Вифлеєм. | And as for me, when I came out of Mesopotamia of Syria, Rachel, thy mother, died in the land of Chanaan, as I drew nigh to the horse-course of Chabratha of the land of Chanaan, so as to come to Ephratha; and I buried her in the road of the course; this is Bethlehem. |

| І побачив Ізраїль синів Йосифа і сказав: хто це? | And when Israel saw the sons of Joseph, he said, Who are these to thee? |

| І сказав Йосиф батькові своєму: це сини мої, яких Бог дав мені тут. [Яків] сказав: підведи їх до мене, і я благословлю їх. | And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God gave me here; and Jacob said, Bring me them, that I may bless them. |
|

|
| Очі ж Ізраїлеві притупилися від старости; не міг він бачити ясно. Йосиф підвів їх до нього, і він поцілував їх і обійняв їх. | Now the eyes of Israel were dim through age, and he could not see; and he brought them near to him, and he kissed them, and embraced them. |

| І сказав Ізраїль Йосифу: не сподівався я бачити твоє лице; але ось, Бог показав мені і дітей твоїх. | And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I have not been deprived of seeing thy face, and lo! God has showed me thy seed also. |

| І відвів їх Йосиф від колін його і поклонився йому лицем своїм до землі. | And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and they did reverence to him, with their face to the ground. |
|

|
| І взяв Йосиф обох [синів своїх], Єфрема у праву свою руку навпроти лівої Ізраїля, а Манассію в ліву навпроти правої Ізраїля, і підвів до нього. | And Joseph took his two sons, both Ephraim in his right hand, but on the left of Israel, and Manasse on his left hand, but on the right of Israel, and brought them near to him. |

| Але Ізраїль простяг праву руку свою і поклав на голову Єфрема, хоча цей був менший, а ліву на голову Манассії. З наміром поклав він так руки свої, хоча Манассія був первістком. | But Israel having stretched out his right hand, laid it on the head of Ephraim, and he was the younger; and his left hand on the head of Manasse, guiding his hands crosswise. |

| І благословив Йосифа і сказав: Бог, перед Яким ходили батьки мої Авраам та Ісаак, Бог, Який пасе мене з тих пір, як я існую, до цього дня, | And he blessed them and said, The God in whose sight my fathers were well pleasing, even Abraam and Isaac, the God who continues to feed me from my youth until this day; |

| ангел, що визволяє мене від усякого зла, нехай благословить отроків цих; нехай буде на них наречене ім’я моє й ім’я батьків моїх Авраама та Ісаака, і нехай виростуть вони в безліч посеред землі. | the angel who delivers me from all evils, bless these boys, and my name shall be called upon them, and the name of my fathers, Abraam and Isaac; and let them be increased to a great multitude on the earth. |

| І побачив Йосиф, що батько його поклав праву руку свою на голову Єфрема; і прикро було йому через це. І взяв він руку батька свого, щоб перекласти її з голови Єфрема на голову Манассії, | And Joseph having seen that his father put his right hand on the head of Ephraim—it seemed grievous to him; and Joseph took hold of the hand of his father, to remove it from the head of Ephraim to the head of Manasse. |

| і сказав Йосиф батькові своєму: не так, батьку мій, бо це — первісток; поклади на його голову праву руку твою. | And Joseph said to his father, Not so, father; for this is the first-born; lay thy right-hand upon his head. |
|

| Але батько його не погодився і сказав: знаю, сину мій, знаю; і від нього народиться народ, і він буде великим; але менший його брат буде більшим за нього, і від сімені його народиться численний народ. | And he would not, but said, I know it, son, I know it; he also shall be a people, and he shall be exalted, but his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. |

| І благословив їх у той день, говорячи: тобою буде благословляти Ізраїль, говорячи: Бог нехай вчинить тобі, як Єфрему і Манассії. І поставив Єфрема вище за Манассію. | And he blessed them in that day, saying, In you shall Israel be blessed, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and Manasse; and he set Ephraim before Manasse. |

| І сказав Ізраїль Йосифові: ось, я вмираю; і Бог буде з вами і поверне вас у землю батьків ваших; | And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I die; and God shall be with you, and restore you to the land of your fathers. |

|
| я даю тобі, переважно перед братами твоїми, одну ділянку, яку я взяв з рук аморреїв мечем моїм і луком моїм. | And I give to thee Sicima, a select portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorites with my sword and bow. |
