| І взяв Авраам ще дружину, на ім’я Хеттура. | And Abraam again took a wife, whose name was Chettura. |

| Вона народила йому Зимрана, Іокшана, Медана, Мадіана, Ішбака і Шуаха. | And she bore to him Zombran, and Jezan, and Madal, and Madiam, and Jesboc, and Soie. |

| Іокшан породив Шеву, [Фемана] і Дедана. Сини Дедана були: [Рагуїл, Навдеїл,] Ашурим, Летушим і Леюмим. | And Jezan begot Saba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were the Assurians and the Latusians, and Laomim. |

| Сини Мадіана: Ефа, Ефер, Ханох, Авида й Елдага. Усі ці — сини Хеттури. | And the sons of Madiam were Gephar and Aphir, and Enoch, and Abeida, and Eldaga; all these were sons of Chettura. |

| І віддав Авраам усе, що було в нього, Ісааку [синові своєму], | But Abraam gave all his possessions to Isaac his son. |

| а синам наложниць, які були у Авраама, дав Авраам подарунки і відіслав їх від Ісаака, сина свого, ще за життя свого, на схід, у землю східну. | But to the sons of his concubines Abraam gave gifts, and he sent them away from his son Isaac, while he was yet living, to the east into the country of the east. |

| Днів життя Авраамового, які він прожив, було сто сімдесят п’ять років; | And these were the years of the days of the life of Abraam as many as he lived, a hundred and seventy-five years. |

| і упокоївся Авраам, і помер у старості добрій, старий і насичений [життям], і приєднався до народу свого. | And Abraam failing died in a good old age, an old man and full of days, and was added to his people. |

| І поховали його Ісаак та Ізмаїл, сини його, у печері Махпеле, на полі Ефрона, сина Цохара, хеттеянина, що напроти Мамре, | And Isaac and Ismael his sons buried him in the double cave, in the field of Ephron the son of Saar the Chettite, which is over against Mambre: |

| на полі [і в печері], які Авраам придбав від синів Хетових. Там поховані Авраам і Сарра, дружина його. | even the field and the cave which Abraam bought of the sons of Chet; there they buried Abraam and Sarrha his wife. |

| Після смерти Авраама Бог благословив Ісаака, сина його. Ісаак жив при Беер-лахай-рої. | And it came to pass after Abraam was dead, that God blessed Isaac his son, and Isaac dwelt by the well of the vision. |

| Ось родовід Ізмаїла, сина Авраамового, якого народила Аврааму Агар єгиптянка, служниця Саррина; | And these are the generations of Ismael the son of Abraam, whom Agar the Egyptian the hand-maid of Sarrha bore to Abraam. |

| і ось імена синів Ізмаїлових, імена їх за родоводом їх: первісток Ізмаїлів Наваїоф, за ним Кедар, Адбеєл, Мивсам, | And these are the names of the sons of Ismael, according to the names of their generations. The firstborn of Ismael, Nabaioth, and Kedar, and Nabdeel, and Massam, |

| Мишма, Дума, Масса, | and Masma, and Duma, and Masse, |

| Хадад, Фема, Ієтур, Нафиш і Кедма. | and Choddan, and Thæman, and Jetur, and Naphes, and Kedma. |

| Ці є сини Ізмаїлові, і це імена їхні, у селищах їхніх, у кочовищах їхніх. Це дванадцять князів племен їхніх. | These are the sons of Ismael, and these are their names in their tents and in their dwellings, twelve princes according to their nations. |

| Років же життя Ізмаїлового було сто тридцять сім років; і упокоївся він, і помер, і приєднався до народу свого. | And these are the years of the life of Ismael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he failed and died, and was added to his fathers. |

| Вони жили від Хавили до Сура, що перед Єгиптом, як ідеш до Ассирії. Вони оселилися перед лицем усіх братів своїх. | And he dwelt from Evilat to Sur, which is opposite Egypt, until one comes to the Assyrians; he dwelt in the presence of all his brethren. |

| Ось родовід Ісаака, сина Авраамового. Авраам породив Ісаака. | And these are the generations of Isaac the son of Abraam. |

| Ісаак був сорока років, коли він узяв собі за дружину Ревекку, дочку Вафуїла арамеянина з Месопотамії, сестру Лавана арамеянина. | Abraam begot Isaac. And Isaac was forty years old when he took to wife Rebecca, daughter of Bathuel the Syrian, out of Syrian Mesopotamia, sister of Laban the Syrian. |

| І молився Ісаак Господу за [Ревекку] дружину свою, тому що вона була неплідна; і Господь почув його, і зачала Ревекка, дружина його. | And Isaac prayed the Lord concerning Rebecca his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord heard him, and his wife Rebecca conceived in her womb. |

| Сини в утробі її почали битися, і вона сказала: якщо так буде, то для чого мені це? І пішла запитати Господа. | And the babes leaped within her; and she said, If it will be so with me, why is this to me? And she went to enquire of the Lord. |

| Господь сказав їй: два племені в утробі твоїй, і два різних народи вийдуть з утроби твоєї; один народ стане сильнішим за інший, і більший буде служити меншому. | And the Lord said to her, There are two nations in thy womb, and two peoples shall be separated from thy belly, and one people shall excel the other, and the elder shall serve the younger. |

| І настав час народити їй: і ось близнюки в утробі її. | And the days were fulfilled that she should be delivered, and she had twins in her womb. |

|
| Першим вийшов червоний, весь, як шкіра, кошлатий; і нарекли йому ім’я Ісав. | And the first came out red, hairy all over like a skin; and she called his name Esau. |

|
| Потім вийшов брат його, тримаючись рукою своєю за п’яту Ісава; і наречено йому ім’я Яків. Ісаак же був шістдесяти років, коли вони народилися [від Ревекки]. | And after this came forth his brother, and his hand took hold of the heel of Esau; and she called his name Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when Rebecca bore them. |

| Діти виросли, і став Ісав людиною вправною у звіроловстві, людиною полів; а Яків людиною лагідною, що живе у наметах. | And the lads grew, and Esau was a man skilled in hunting, dwelling in the country, and Jacob a simple man, dwelling in a house. |

| Ісаак любив Ісава, тому що здобич його була за смаком його, а Ревекка любила Якова. | And Isaac loved Esau, because his venison was his food, but Rebecca loved Jacob. |

| І зварив Яків страву; а Ісав прийшов з поля втомленим. | And Jacob cooked pottage, and Esau came from the plain, fainting. |

|
| І сказав Ісав Якову: дай мені поїсти червоного, червоного цього, тому що я втомився. Від цього дано йому прізвисько: Єдом. | And Esau said to Jacob, Let me taste of that red pottage, because I am fainting; therefore his name was called Edom. |

|
| Але Яків сказав [Ісаву]: продай мені зараз же своє первородство. | And Jacob said to Esau, Sell me this day thy birthright. |

|
| Ісав сказав: ось, я вмираю, що мені з цього первородства? | And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die, and for what good does this birthright belong to me? |
|

|
| Яків сказав [йому]: поклянися мені зараз же. Він поклявся йому, і продав [Ісав] первородство своє Якову. | And Jacob said to him, Swear to me this day; and he swore to him; and Esau sold his birthright to Jacob. |

| І дав Яків Ісаву хліби і страви із сочевиці; і він їв і пив, і встав і пішов; і зневажив Ісав первородство. | And Jacob gave bread to Esau, and pottage of lentiles; and he ate and drank, and he arose and departed; so Esau slighted his birthright. |
