| Аврам був дев’яноста дев’яти років, і Господь явився Аврамові і сказав йому: Я Бог всемогутній; ходи переді Мною і будь непорочним; | And Abram was ninety-nine years old, and the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, I am thy God, be well-pleasing before me, and be blameless. |

| і поставлю завіт Мій між Мною і тобою, і дуже, дуже розмножу тебе. | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and I will multiply thee exceedingly. |

| І упав Аврам на лице своє. Бог продовжував говорити з ним і сказав: | And Abram fell upon his face, and God spoke to him, saying, |
|

|
| Я — ось завіт Мій з тобою: ти будеш отцем безлічі народів, | And I, behold! my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations. |
|

|
| і не будеш ти більше називатися Аврамом, але буде тобі ім’я: Авраам, тому що я зроблю тебе отцем безлічі народів; | And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraam, for I have made thee a father of many nations. |
|

|
| і дуже, дуже розмножу тебе, і народжу від тебе народи, і царі вийдуть від тебе; | And I will increase thee very exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. |
|

|
| і поставлю завіт Мій між Мною і тобою і між нащадками твоїми після тебе в роди їх, завіт вічний в тому, що Я буду Богом твоїм і нащадків твоїх після тебе; | And I will establish my covenant between thee and thy seed after thee, to their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be thy God, and the God of thy seed after thee. |

| і дам тобі і нащадкам твоїм після тебе землю, по якій ти мандруєш, усю землю Ханаанську, у володіння вічне; і буду їм Богом. | And I will give to thee and to thy seed after thee the land wherein thou sojournest, even all the land of Chanaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be to them a God. |

| І сказав Бог Авраамові: ти ж збережи завіт Мій, ти і нащадки твої після тебе в роди їх. | And God said to Abraam, Thou also shalt fully keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee for their generations. |
|

|
| Цей є завіт Мій, який ви повинні зберігати між Мною і між вами і між нащадками твоїми після тебе [в роди їхні]: нехай буде у вас обрізана уся чоловіча стать; | And this is the covenant which thou shalt fully keep between me and you, and between thy seed after thee for their generations; every male of you shall be circumcised. |

| обрізуйте крайню плоть вашу: і це буде знаменням завіту між Мною і вами. | And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between me and you. |

|
| Восьми днів від народження нехай буде обрізане у вас в роди ваші всяке немовля чоловічої статі, народжене у домі і куплене за срібло в якого-небудь іноплемінника, який не від твого сімені. | And the child of eight days old shall be circumcised by you, every male throughout your generations, and the servant born in the house and he that is bought with money, of every son of a stranger, who is not of thy seed. |

| Обов’язково нехай буде обрізаний народжений у домі твоєму і куплений за срібло твоє, і буде завіт Мій на тілі вашому завітом вічним. | He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with money shall be surely circumcised, and my covenant shall be on your flesh for an everlasting covenant. |

| Необрізаний же чоловічої статі, який не обріже крайньої плоті своєї [у восьмий день], знищиться душа його з народу свого, тому що він порушив завіт Мій. | And the uncircumcised male, who shall not be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin on the eighth day, that soul shall be utterly destroyed from its family, for he has broken my covenant. |

| І сказав Бог Аврааму: Сару, дружину твою, не називай Сарою, але нехай буде ім’я їй: Сарра; | And God said to Abraam, Sara thy wife—her name shall not be called Sara, Sarrha shall be her name. |

|
| Я благословлю її і дам тобі від неї сина; благословлю її, і народяться від неї народи, і царі народів народяться від неї. | And I will bless her, and give thee a son of her, and I will bless him, and he shall become nations, and kings of nations shall be of him. |
|

| І упав Авраам на лице своє, і розсміявся, і сказав сам у собі: невже від столітнього буде син? і Сарра, дев’яностолітня, невже народить? | And Abraam fell upon his face, and laughed; and spoke in his heart, saying, Shall there be a child to one who is a hundred years old, and shall Sarrha who is ninety years old, bear? |

| І сказав Авраам Богові: о, хоч би Ізмаїл був живим перед лицем Твоїм! | And Abraam said to God, Let this Ismael live before thee. |
|

|
| Бог же сказав [Аврааму]: саме Сарра, дружина твоя, народить тобі сина, і ти наречеш йому ім’я: Ісаак; і укладу завіт Мій з ним завітом вічним [в тому, що Я буду Богом йому і] нащадкам його після нього. | And God said to Abraam, Yea, behold, Sarrha thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to him and to his seed after him. |

|
| І про Ізмаїла Я почув тебе: ось, Я благословлю його, і зроблю його плодовитим, і дуже, дуже розмножу; дванадцять князів народяться від нього; і Я породжу від нього великий народ. | And concerning Ismael, behold, I have heard thee, and, behold, I have blessed him, and will increase him and multiply him exceedingly; twelve nations shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. |

| Але завіт Мій укладу з Ісааком, якого народить тобі Сарра в цей самий час на наступний рік. | But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarrha shall bear to thee at this time, in the next year. |
|

|
| І Бог перестав говорити з Авраамом і відійшов від нього. | And he left off speaking with him, and God went up from Abraam. |
|

|
| І взяв Авраам Ізмаїла, сина свого, і всіх народжених у домі своїм і всіх куплених за срібло своє, всіх чоловічої статі людей дому Авраамового; і обрізав крайню плоть їх у той самий день, як сказав йому Бог. | And Abraam took Ismael his son, and all his home-born servants, and all those bought with money, and every male of the men in the house of Abraam, and he circumcised their foreskins in the time of that day, according as God spoke to him. |

| Авраам був дев’яноста дев’яти років, коли була обрізана крайня плоть його. | And Abraam was ninety-nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. |
|

|
| А Ізмаїл, син його, був тринадцяти років, коли була обрізана крайня плоть його. | And Ismael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. |
|

|
| У тот же самий день обрізані були Авраам і Ізмаїл, син його, | And at the period of that day, Abraam was circumcised, and Ismael his son, |

27
|
| і з ним обрізані були всі чоловічої статі дому його, народжені в домі і куплені за срібло в іноплемінників. | and all the men of his house, both those born in the house, and those bought with money of foreign nations. |
