| І піднявся Аврам з Єгипту, сам і дружина його, й усе, що в нього було, і Лот з ним, на південь. | And Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the wilderness. |

| І був Аврам дуже багатий на худобу, і срібло, і золото. | And Abram was very rich in cattle, and silver, and gold. |
|

| І продовжував він переходи свої від півдня до Вефиля, до місця, де колись був намет його між Вефилем і між Гаєм, | And he went to the place whence he came, into the wilderness as far as Bæthel, as far as the place where his tent was before, between Bæthel and Aggai, |

| до місця жертовника, який він зробив там спочатку; і там прикликав Аврам ім’я Господа. | to the place of the altar, which he built there at first, and Abram there called on the name of the Lord. |

| І у Лота, який ходив з Аврамом, також була дрібна і велика худоба і намети. | And Lot who went out with Abram had sheep, and oxen, and tents. |

| І не вміщала їх та земля, щоб жити разом, бо майно їхнє було таке велике, що вони не могли жити разом. | And the land was not large enough for them to live together, because their possessions were great; and the land was not large enough for them to live together. |
|

|
| І була суперечка між пастухами худоби Аврамової і між пастухами худоби Лотової; і хананеї і ферезеї жили тоді в тій землі. | And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle, and the herdmen of Lot's cattle, and the Chananites and the Pherezites then inhabited the land. |

| І сказав Аврам Лотові: нехай не буде розбрату між мною і тобою, і між пастухами моїми і пастухами твоїми, тому що ми родичі; | And Abram said to Lot, Let there not be a strife between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen, for we are brethren. |
|

|
| чи не вся земля перед тобою? відділись же від мене: якщо ти ліворуч, то я праворуч; а якщо ти праворуч, то я ліворуч. | Lo! is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself from me; if thou goest to the left, I will go to the right, and if thou goest to the right, I will go to the left. |

| Лот звів очі свої і побачив усю околицю Йорданську, що вона, перш ніж знищив Господь Содом і Гоморру, вся до Сигора зрошувалася водою, як сад Господній, як земля Єгипетська; | And Lot having lifted up his eyes, observed all the country round about Jordan, that it was all watered, before God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha, as the garden of the Lord, and as the land of Egypt, until thou come to Zogora. |

| і обрав собі Лот усю околицю Йорданську; і рушив Лот на схід. І відокремилися вони один від одного. | And Lot chose for himself all the country round Jordan, and Lot went from the east, and they were separated each from his brother. And Abram dwelt in the land of Chanaan. |

| Аврам став жити в землі Ханаанській; а Лот став жити у містах околиці і розкинув намети до Содома. | And Lot dwelt in a city of the neighbouring people, and pitched his tent in Sodom. |

|
| Жителі ж содомські були злі і грішні перед Господом. | But the men of Sodom were evil, and exceedingly sinful before God. |
|

|
| І сказав Господь Авраму, після того як Лот відокремився від нього: зведи очі твої з місця, на якому ти тепер, подивися на північ і на південь, і на схід і на захід; | And God said to Abram after Lot was separated from him, Look up with thine eyes, and behold from the place where thou now art northward and southward, and eastward and seaward; |

| бо всю землю, що ти бачиш, Я дам тобі і нащадкам твоїм навіки, | for all the land which thou seest, I will give it to thee and to thy seed for ever. |

| і зроблю нащадків твоїх, як пісок земний; якщо хто може порахувати пісок земний, то і нащадки твої полічені будуть; | And I will make thy seed like the dust of the earth; if any one is able to number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed be numbered. |

|
| встань, пройди по землі цій у довжину й у ширину її, бо Я дам її тобі [і нащадкам твоїм назавжди]. | Arise and traverse the land, both in the length of it and in the breadth; for to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. |

| І зняв Аврам намет, і пішов, і оселився біля діброви Мамре, що в Хевроні; і зробив там жертовник Господу. | And Abram having removed his tent, came and dwelt by the oak of Mambre, which was in Chebrom, and he there built an altar to the Lord. |
