| Після цих подій було слово Господнє до Аврама у видінні [вночі], і сказано: не бійся, Авраме; Я твій щит; нагорода твоя [буде] дуже велика. | And after these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I shield thee, thy reward shall be very great. |

| Аврам сказав: Владико Господи! що Ти даси мені? я залишаюся бездітним; розпорядник у домі моєму цей Єлиєзер із Дамаска. | And Abram said, Master and Lord, what wilt thou give me? whereas I am departing without a child, but the son of Masek my home-born female slave, this Eliezer of Damascus is mine heir. |

| І сказав Аврам: ось, Ти не дав мені нащадка, і ось, управитель мій спадкоємець мій. | And Abram said, I am grieved since thou hast given me no seed, but my home-born servant shall succeed me. |
|

| І було слово Господа до нього, і сказано: не буде він твоїм спадкоємцем, але той, хто народиться з лона твого, буде твоїм спадкоємцем. | And immediately there was a voice of the Lord to him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come out of thee shall be thine heir. |
|

| І вивів його геть і сказав [йому]: подивися на небо і порахуй зірки, якщо ти можеш порахувати їх. І сказав йому: стільки буде в тебе нащадків. | And he brought him out and said to him, Look up now to heaven, and count the stars, if thou shalt be able to number them fully, and he said, Thus shall thy seed be. |

| Аврам повірив Господу, і Він поставив йому це в праведність. | And Abram believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness. |

| І сказав йому: Я Господь, Який вивів тебе з Ура халдейського, щоб дати тобі землю цю у володіння. | And he said to him, I am God that brought thee out of the land of the Chaldeans, so as to give thee this land to inherit. |
|

|
| Він сказав: Владико Господи! З чого я довідаюсь, що я буду володіти нею? | And he said, Master and Lord, how shall I know that I shall inherit it? |
|

|
| Господь сказав йому: візьми Мені трирічну телицю, трирічну козу, трирічного барана, горлицю і молодого голуба. | And he said to him, Take for me an heifer in her third year, and a she-goat in her third year, and a ram in his third year, and a dove and a pigeon. |
|

|
| Він взяв усіх їх, розсік їх навпіл і поклав одну частину навпроти другої; тільки птахів не розсік. | So he took to him all these, and divided them in the midst, and set them opposite to each other, but the birds he did not divide. |
|

| І налетіли на трупи хижі птахи; але Аврам відганяв їх. | And birds came down upon the bodies, even upon the divided parts of them, and Abram sat down by them. |
|

|
| Коли заходило сонце, міцний сон напав на Аврама, і ось, напав на нього жах і морок великий. | And about sunset a trance fell upon Abram, and lo! a great gloomy terror falls upon him. |

| І сказав Господь Авраму: знай, що нащадки твої будуть мандрівниками в землі не своїй, і поневолять їх, і будуть гнітити їх чотириста років, | And it was said to Abram, Thou shalt surely know that thy seed shall be a sojourner in a land not their own, and they shall enslave them, and afflict them, and humble them four hundred years. |

| але Я вчиню суд над народом, у якого вони будуть у неволі; після цього вони вийдуть [сюди] з великим майном, | And the nation whomsoever they shall serve I will judge; and after this, they shall come forth hither with much property. |
|

|
| а ти відійдеш до батьків твоїх у мирі і будеш похований у старості добрій; | But thou shalt depart to thy fathers in peace, nourished in a good old age. |
|

16
|
| у четвертому роді повернуться вони сюди: тому що міра беззаконь аморреїв досі ще не наповнилася. | And in the fourth generation they shall return hither, for the sins of the Amorites are not yet filled up, even until now. |
|

| Коли зайшло сонце і настала темрява, ось, дим, ніби з печі, і полум’я вогню пройшли між розсіченими тваринами. | And when the sun was about to set, there was a flame, and behold a smoking furnace and lamps of fire, which passed between these divided pieces. |

| В цей день уклав Господь завіт з Аврамом, сказавши: нащадкам твоїм даю Я землю цю, від ріки Єгипетської до великої ріки, ріки Євфрату: | In that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, To thy seed I will give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates. |

| кенеїв, кенезеїв, кедмонеїв, | The Kenites, and the Kenezites, and the Kedmoneans, |
|
20
|
20
|
| хеттеїв, ферезеїв, рефаїмів, | and the Chettites, and the Pherezites, and the Raphaim, |
|
21
|
21
|
| аморреїв, хананеїв, [евеїв,] гергесеїв і євусеїв. | and the Amorites, and the Chananites, and the Evites, and the Gergesites, and the Jebusites. |
