| І покликав Яків синів своїх і сказав: зберіться, і я сповіщу вам, що буде з вами у грядущі дні; | And Jacob called his sons, and said to them, Assemble yourselves, that I may tell you what shall happen to you in the last days. |

| зійдіться і послухайте, сини Якова, послухайте Ізраїля, батька вашого. | Gather yourselves together, and hear me, sons of Jacob; hear Israel, hear your father. |

|
| Рувиме, первістку мій! ти — кріпкість моя і початок сили моєї, верх достоїнства і верх могутности; | Ruben, thou art my first-born, thou my strength, and the first of my children, hard to be endured, hard and self-willed. |
|

|
| але ти бушував, як вода, — не будеш мати переваги, бо ти зійшов на ложе батька твого, ти осквернив постіль мою, [на яку] зійшов. | Thou wast insolent like water, burst not forth with violence, for thou wentest up to the bed of thy father; then thou defiledst the couch, whereupon thou wentest up. |

| Симеон і Левій брати, знаряддя жорстокости мечі їхні; | Symeon and Levi, brethren, accomplished the injustice of their cutting off. |

|
| в раду їх нехай не ввійде душа моя, і до зібрання їх нехай не прилучиться слава моя, бо вони у гніві своєму убили мужа і з примхи своєї перерізали жили тельця; | Let not my soul come into their counsel, and let not mine inward parts contend in their conspiracy, for in their wrath they slew men, and in their passion they houghed a bull. |

| проклятий гнів їх, бо жорстокий, і розлюченість їх, тому що люта; розділю їх в Якові і розсію їх в Ізраїлі. | Cursed be their wrath, for it was wilful, and their anger, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel. |

| Іудо! тебе хвалитимуть брати твої. Рука твоя на хребті ворогів твоїх; поклоняться тобі сини батька твого. | Juda, thy brethren have praised thee, and thy hands shall be on the back of thine enemies; thy father's sons shall do thee reverence. |

|
| Молодий лев Іуда, піднімається зі здобичі, син мій. Схилився він, ліг, як лев і як левиця: хто підніме його? | Juda is a lion's whelp: from the tender plant, my son, thou art gone up, having couched thou liest as a lion, and as a whelp; who shall stir him up? |
|

| Не відійде скіпетр від Іуди і законодавець від стегон його, доки не прийде Примиритель, і Йому покірність народів. | A ruler shall not fail from Juda, nor a prince from his loins, until there come the things stored up for him; and he is the expectation of nations. |
|

| Він прив’язує до виноградної лози осля своє і до лози кращого винограду сина ослиці своєї; миє у вині одяг свій і у крові грон убрання своє; | Binding his foal to the vine, and the foal of his ass to the branch of it, he shall wash his robe in wine, and his garment in the blood of the grape. |

| блискучі очі [його] від вина, і білі зуби [його] від молока. | His eyes shall be more cheering than wine, and his teeth whiter than milk. |

|
| Завулон біля берега морського буде жити і біля пристані корабельної, і межа його до Сидона. | Zabulon shall dwell on the coast, and he shall be by a haven of ships, and shall extend to Sidon. |

|
| Іссахар осел міцний, що лежить між протоками вод; | Issachar has desired that which is good; resting between the inheritances. |
|

|
| і побачив він, що спокій добрий, і що земля приємна: і схилив плечі свої для носіння тягаря і став працювати на виплату данини. | And having seen the resting place that it was good, and the land that it was fertile, he subjected his shoulder to labour, and became a husbandman. |

|
| Дан буде судити народ свій, як одне з колін Ізраїля; | Dan shall judge his people, as one tribe too in Israel. |

|
| Дан буде змієм на дорозі, аспидом на путі, що вражає ногу коня, так що вершник його впаде назад. | And let Dan be a serpent in the way, besetting the path, biting the heel of the horse (and the rider shall fall backward), |

| На допомогу твою сподіваюся, Господи! | waiting for the salvation of the Lord. |

|
| Гад, — натовп буде тіснити його, але він відтіснить його по п’ятах. | Gad, a plundering troop shall plunder him; but he shall plunder him, pursuing him closely. |
|

|
| Для Асира — занадто ситний хліб його, і він буде постачати царські страви. | Aser, his bread shall be fat; and he shall yield dainties to princes. |
|

|
| Неффалим — теревинф рослий, що розпускає прекрасні гілки*. | Nephthalim is a spreading stem, bestowing beauty on its fruit. |
|

|
| Йосиф — віття плодоносного дерева, віття плодоносного дерева над джерелом; гілки його простягаються над стіною; | Joseph is a son increased; my dearly loved son is increased; my youngest son, turn to me. |
|

| засмучували його, і стріляли і ворогували проти нього стрільці, | Against whom men taking evil counsel reproached him, and the archers pressed hard upon him. |
|

|
| але твердим залишився лук його, і міцні м’язи рук його, від рук могутнього Бога Якового. Звідти Пастир і твердиня Ізраїлева, | But their bow and arrows were mightily consumed, and the sinews of their arms were slackened by the hand of the mighty one of Jacob; thence is he that strengthened Israel from the God of thy father; |

| від Бога батька твого, Який нехай і допоможе тобі, і від Всемогутнього, Який нехай і благословить тебе благословеннями небесними звище, благословеннями безодні, що лежить долі, благословеннями сосків і утроби, | and my God helped thee, and he blessed thee with the blessing of heaven from above, and the blessing of the earth possessing all things, because of the blessing of the breasts and of the womb, |

| благословеннями батька твого, які перевищують благословення гір давніх і приємності пагорбів вічних; нехай будуть вони на голові Йосифа і на тімені обраного між братами своїми. | the blessings of thy father and thy mother—it has prevailed above the blessing of the lasting mountains, and beyond the blessings of the everlasting hills; they shall be upon the head of Joseph, and upon the head of the brothers of whom he took the lead. |

| Веніамін, хижий вовк, вранці буде їсти ловитву і ввечері буде ділити здобич. | Benjamin, as a ravening wolf, shall eat still in the morning, and at evening he gives food. |

| Ось усі дванадцять колін Ізраїлевих; і ось що сказав їм батько їх; і благословив їх, і дав їм благословення, кожному своє. | All these are the twelve sons of Jacob; and their father spoke these words to them, and he blessed them; he blessed each of them according to his blessing. |

| І заповідав він їм і сказав їм: я прилучаюся до народу мого; поховайте мене з батьками моїми в печері, яка на полі Ефрона хеттеянина, | And he said to them, I am added to my people; ye shall bury me with my fathers in the cave, which is in the field of Ephron the Chettite, |

| у печері, яка на полі Махпела, що перед Мамре, у землі Ханаанській, яку [печеру] купив Авраам з полем у Ефрона хеттеянина у власність для поховання; | in the double cave which is opposite Mambre, in the land of Chanaan, the cave which Abraam bought of Ephron the Chettite, for a possession of a sepulchre. |

| там поховали Авраама і Сарру, дружину його; там поховали Ісаака і Ревекку, дружину його; і там поховав я Лію; | There they buried Abraam and Sarrha his wife; there they buried Isaac, and Rebecca his wife; there they buried Lea; |

| це поле і печера, яка на ньому, куплена у синів Хеттеєвих. | in the portion of the field, and of the cave that was in it, purchased of the sons of Chet. |

|
| І закінчив Яків заповіт синам своїм, і поклав ноги свої на постіль, і помер, і приєднався до народу свого. | And Jacob ceased giving charges to his sons; and having lifted up his feet on the bed, he died, and was gathered to his people. |
