| І було, після цих подій Бог спокушав Авраама і сказав йому: Аврааме! Він сказав: ось я. | And it came to pass after these things that God tempted Abraam, and said to him, Abraam, Abraam; and he said, Lo! I am here. |

| Бог сказав: візьми сина твого, єдиного твого, якого ти любиш, Ісаака; і піди в землю Моріа і там принеси його у всепалення на одній з гір, про яку Я скажу тобі. | And he said, Take thy son, the beloved one, whom thou hast loved—Isaac, and go into the high land, and offer him there for a whole-burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. |

| Авраам устав рано-вранці, осідлав осла свого, взяв з собою двох слуг своїх та Ісаака, сина свого; наколов дров для всепалення і, вставши, пішов на місце, про яке сказав йому Бог. | And Abraam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass, and he took with him two servants, and Isaac his son, and having split wood for a whole-burnt-offering, he arose and departed, and came to the place of which God spoke to him, |

| На третій день Авраам звів очі свої, і побачив те місце здалеку. | on the third day; and Abraam having lifted up his eyes, saw the place afar off. |

| І сказав Авраам слугам своїм: ви залиштеся тут з ослом, а я і син підемо туди і поклонимося, і повернемося до вас. | And Abraam said to his servants, Sit ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will proceed thus far, and having worshipped we will return to you. |

| І взяв Авраам дрова для всепалення, і поклав на Ісаака, сина свого; взяв у руки вогонь і ніж, і пішли обоє разом. | And Abraam took the wood of the whole-burnt-offering, and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took into his hands both the fire and the knife, and the two went together. |

| І почав Ісаак говорити Аврааму, батькові своєму, і сказав: батьку мій! Він відповів: ось я, сину мій. Він сказав: ось вогонь і дрова, де ж агнець для всепалення? | And Isaac said to Abraam his father, Father. And he said, What is it, son? And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, where is the sheep for a whole-burnt-offering? |

| Авраам сказав: Бог угледить Собі агнця для всепалення, сину мій. І йшли далі обоє разом. | And Abraam said, God will provide himself a sheep for a whole-burnt-offering, my son. And both having gone together, |

| І пройшли на місце, про яке сказав йому Бог; і влаштував там Авраам жертовник, розклав дрова і, зв’язавши сина свого Ісаака, поклав його на жертовник поверх дров. | came to the place which God spoke of to him; and there Abraam built the altar, and laid the wood on it, and having bound the feet of Isaac his son together, he laid him on the altar upon the wood. |

| І простяг Авраам руку свою і взяв ніж, щоб заколоти сина свого. | And Abraam stretched forth his hand to take the knife to slay his son. |

| Але ангел Господній воззвав до нього з неба і сказав: Аврааме! Аврааме! Він сказав: ось я. | And an angel of the Lord called him out of heaven, and said, Abraam, Abraam. And he said, Behold, I am here. |
|

| Ангел сказав: не здіймай руки твоєї на отрока і не роби з ним нічого, тому що тепер Я знаю, що боїшся ти Бога і не пожалів сина твого, єдиного твого, для Мене. | And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the child, neither do anything to him, for now I know that thou fearest God, and for my sake thou hast not spared thy beloved son. |

| І підвів Авраам очі свої і побачив: і ось, позаду баран, що заплутався у гущавині рогами своїми. Авраам пішов, узяв барана і приніс його у всепалення замість [Ісаака], сина свого. | And Abraam lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! a ram caught by his horns in a plant of Sabec; and Abraam went and took the ram, and offered him up for a whole-burnt-offering in the place of Isaac his son. |

| І нарік Авраам ім’я місцю тому: Єгова-іре*. Тому і нині говориться: на горі Єгови угледиться. | And Abraam called the name of that place, The Lord hath seen; that they might say to-day, In the mount the Lord was seen. |

| І вдруге воззвав до Авраама ангел Господній з неба | And an angel of the Lord called Abraam the second time out of heaven, |

| і сказав: Собою клянуся, говорить Господь, що, оскільки ти зробив це діло, і не пожалів сина твого, єдиного твого, [для Мене,] | saying, I have sworn by myself, says the Lord, because thou hast done this thing, and on my account hast not spared thy beloved son, |

|
| то Я благословляючи благословлю тебе і примножуючи примножу сíм’я твоє, як зірки небесні і як пісок на березі моря; й оволодіє сíм’я твоє містами ворогів своїх; | surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and thy seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies. |

| і благословляться у сімені твоєму всі народи землі за те, що ти послухався голосу Мого. | And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast hearkened to my voice. |
|

|
| І повернувся Авраам до слуг своїх, і встали і пішли разом у Вирсавію; і жив Авраам у Вирсавії. | And Abraam returned to his servants, and they arose and went together to the well of the oath; and Abraam dwelt at the well of the oath. |

|
| Після цих подій Авраама сповістили, сказавши: ось, і Милка народила Нахору, братові твоєму, синів: | And it came to pass after these things, that it was reported to Abraam, saying, Behold, Melcha herself too has born sons to Nachor thy brother, |

|
| Уца, первістка його, Вуза, брата його, Кемуїла, батька Арамового, | Uz the first-born, and Baux his brother, and Camuel the father of the Syrians, and Chazad, and |
|

|
| Кеседа, Хазо, Пилдаша, Ідлафа і Вафуїла; | Azav and Phaldes, and Jeldaph, and Bathuel, and Bathuel begot Rebecca; |
|

|
| від Вафуїла народилася Ревекка. Вісьмох цих [синів] народила Милка Нахору, брату Авраамовому; | these are eight sons, which Melcha bore to Nachor the brother of Abraam. |
|

|
| і наложниця його, на ім’я Реума, також народила Теваха, Гахама, Тахаша і Мааху. | And his concubine whose name was Rheuma, she also bore Tabec, and Taam, and Tochos, and Mocha. |
