| І споглянув Господь на Сарру, як сказав; і зробив Господь Саррі, як говорив. | And the Lord visited Sarrha, as he said, and the Lord did to Sarrha, as he spoke. |

| Сарра зачала і народила Аврааму сина у старості його в час, про який говорив йому Бог; | And she conceived and bore to Abraam a son in old age, at the set time according as the Lord spoke to him. |
|

|
| і нарік Авраам ім’я сину своєму, який народився від нього, якого народила йому Сарра, Ісаак; | And Abraam called the name of his son that was born to him, whom Sarrha bore to him, Isaac. |
|

|
| і обрізав Авраам Ісаака, сина свого, у восьмий день, як заповідав Бог. | And Abraam circumcised Isaac on the eighth day, as God commanded him. |
|

|
| Авраам був ста років, коли народився в нього Ісаак, син його. | And Abraam was a hundred years old when Isaac his son was born to him. |
|

|
| І сказала Сарра: сміх зробив мені Бог; хто не почує про мене, розсміється. | And Sarrha said, The Lord has made laughter for me, for whoever shall hear shall rejoice with me. |
|

|
| І сказала: хто сказав би Аврааму: Сарра буде годувати дітей грудьми? бо в старості його я народила сина. | And she said, Who shall say to Abraam that Sarrha suckles a child? for I have born a child in my old age. |
|

|
| Дитя виросло й було відлучене від грудей; і Авраам зробив велику вечерю у той день, коли Ісаак [син його] був відлучений від грудей. | And the child grew and was weaned, and Abraam made a great feast the day that his son Isaac was weaned. |
|

|
| І побачила Сарра, що син Агарі єгиптянки, якого вона народила Аврааму, насміхається [над її сином, Ісааком], | And Sarrha having seen the son of Agar the Egyptian who was born to Abraam, sporting with Isaac her son, |

|
| і сказала Аврааму: вижени цю рабиню і сина її, тому що не успадкує син рабині цієї із сином моїм Ісааком. | then she said to Abraam, Cast out this bondwoman and her son, for the son of this bondwoman shall not inherit with my son Isaac. |
|

|
| І здалося це Аврааму дуже неприємним заради сина його [Ізмаїла]. | But the word appeared very hard before Abraam concerning his son. |
|

|
| Але Бог сказав Аврааму: не засмучуйся заради отрока і рабині твоєї; в усьому, що скаже тобі Сарра, слухайся голосу її, бо в Ісаакові наречеться тобі сíм’я; | But God said to Abraam, Let it not be hard before thee concerning the child, and concerning the bondwoman; in all things whatsoever Sarrha shall say to thee, hear her voice, for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. |

| і від сина рабині Я породжу [великий] народ, тому що він сíм’я твоє. | And moreover I will make the son of this bondwoman a great nation, because he is thy seed. |

|
| Авраам встав рано-вранці, й узяв хліба і міх води, і дав Агарі, поклавши їй на плечі, й отрока, і відпустив її. Вона пішла, і заблукала у пустелі Вирсавії; | And Abraam rose up in the morning and took loaves and a skin of water, and gave them to Agar, and he put the child on her shoulder, and sent her away, and she having departed wandered in the wilderness near the well of the oath. |

| і не стало води в міху, і вона залишила отрока під одним кущем | And the water failed out of the skin, and she cast the child under a fir tree. |

|
| і пішла, сіла віддалік на відстані одного пострілу з лука. Бо вона сказала: не хочу бачити смерти дитини. І вона сіла [на відстані] навпроти [нього], і підняла крик, і плакала; | And she departed and sat down opposite him at a distance, as it were a bow-shot, for she said, Surely I cannot see the death of my child: and she sat opposite him, and the child cried aloud and wept. |

| і почув Бог голос отрока [звідти, де він був]; і ангел Божий з неба воззвав до Агарі і сказав їй: що з тобою, Агар? не бійся; Бог почув голос отрока звідти, де він знаходиться; | And God heard the voice of the child from the place where he was, and an angel of God called Agar out of heaven, and said to her, What is it, Agar? fear not, for God has heard the voice of the child from the place where he is. |

|
| встань, підніми отрока і візьми його за руку, тому що Я породжу від нього великий народ. | Rise up, and take the child, and hold him in thine hand, for I will make him a great nation. |
|

|
| І Бог відкрив очі її, і вона побачила колодязь с водою [живою], і пішла, наповнила міх водою і напоїла отрока. | And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of springing water; and she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the child drink. |
|
20
|
20
|
| І Бог був з отроком; і він виріс, і став жити в пустелі, і став стрільцем з лука. | And God was with the child, and he grew and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. |
|

|
| Він жив у пустелі Фаран; і мати його взяла із землі Єгипетської. | And he dwelt in the wilderness, and his mother took him a wife out of Pharan of Egypt. |
|

|

|
| І було в той час, Авимелех з [Ахузафом, що водив наречену, і] Фихолом, воєначальником своїм, сказав Аврааму: з тобою Бог у всьому, що ти не робив би; | And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech spoke, and Ochozath his friend, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, to Abraam, saying, God is with thee in all things, whatsoever thou mayest do. |

|
| і тепер поклянися мені тут Богом, що ти не скривдиш ні мене, ні сина мого, ні онука мого; і як я добре чинив з тобою, так і ти будеш чинити зі мною і землею, в якій ти гостюєш. | Now therefore swear to me by God that thou wilt not injure me, nor my seed, nor my name, but according to the righteousness which I have performed with thee thou shalt deal with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned. |

| І сказав Авраам: я клянуся. | And Abraam said, I will swear. |
|

|
| І Авраам докоряв Авимелеху за колодязь з водою, що його відібрали раби Авимелехові. | And Abraam reproved Abimelech because of the wells of water, which the servants of Abimelech took away. |
|

|
| Авимелех же сказав [йому]: не знаю, хто це зробив, і ти не сказав мені; я навіть і не чув про те донині. | And Abimelech said to him, I know not who has done this thing to thee, neither didst thou tell it me, neither heard I it but only to-day. |
|

|
| І взяв Авраам дрібної і великої худоби і дав Авимелеху, і вони обидва уклали союз. | And Abraam took sheep and calves, and gave them to Abimelech, and both made a covenant. |
|

|
| І поставив Авраам сім агниць з отари дрібної худоби окремо. | And Abraam set seven ewe-lambs by themselves. |
|

|
| Авимелех же сказав Аврааму: для чого тут ці сім агниць [з отари овець], яких ти поставив окремо? | And Abimelech said to Abraam, What are these seven ewe-lambs which thou hast set alone? |
|

|
| [Авраам] сказав: сім агниць оцих візьми від руки моєї, щоб вони були мені свідченням, що я викопав цей колодязь. | And Abraam said, Thou shalt receive the seven ewe-lambs of me, that they may be for me as a witness, that I dug this well. |
|

|
| Тому і назвав він це місце: Вирсавія, тому що тут вони обоє клялися | Therefore he named the name of that place, The Well of the Oath, for there they both swore. |
|

|
| й уклали союз у Вирсавії. І встав Авимелех, і [Ахузаф, нареченопровідник його, і] Фихол, воєначальник його, і повернулися в землю Филистимську. | And they made a covenant at the well of the oath. And there rose up Abimelech, Ochozath his friend, and Phichol the commander-in-chief of his army, and they returned to the land of the Phylistines. |

| І насадив [Авраам] біля Вирсавії гай і призвав там ім’я Господа, Бога вічного. | And Abraam planted a field at the well of the oath, and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God. |

| І жив Авраам у землі Филистимській, як мандрівник, дні довгі. | And Abraam sojourned in the land of the Phylistines many days. |
