| І явився йому Господь біля діброви Мамре, коли він сидів при вході в намет [свій], під час спеки денної. | And God appeared to him by the oak of Mambre, as he sat by the door of his tent at noon. |

| Він звів очі свої і глянув, і ось, три мужі стоять навпроти нього. Побачивши, він побіг назустріч їм від входу в намет [свій] і поклонився до землі, | And he lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! three men stood before him; and having seen them he ran to meet them from the door of his tent, and did obeisance to the ground. |

| і сказав: Владико! якщо я знайшов благовоління перед очима Твоїми, не пройди мимо раба Твого; | And he said, Lord, if indeed I have found grace in thy sight, pass not by thy servant. |
|

|
| і принесуть трохи води, й омиють ноги ваші; і відпочинете під цим деревом, | Let water now be brought, and let them wash your feet, and do ye refresh yourselves under the tree. |
|

|
| а я принесу хліба, і ви підкріпите серця ваші; потім підіть [у путь свою]; тому що ви йдете мимо раба вашого. Вони сказали: зроби так, як говориш. | And I will bring bread, and ye shall eat, and after this ye shall depart on your journey, on account of which refreshment ye have turned aside to your servant. And he said, So do, as thou hast said. |

| І поспішив Авраам в намет до Сарри і сказав [їй]: скоріше заміси три сати кращого борошна і зроби прісні хліби. | And Abraam hasted to the tent to Sarrha, and said to her, Hasten, and knead three measures of fine flour, and make cakes. |

|
| І побіг Авраам до стада, і взяв теля ніжне і гарне, і дав слузі, і той поспішив приготувати його. | And Abraam ran to the kine, and took a young calf, tender and good, and gave it to his servant, and he hasted to dress it. |
|

|
| І взяв олії і молока і теля приготоване, і поставив перед ними, а сам стояв біля них під деревом. І вони їли. | And he took butter and milk, and the calf which he had dressed; and he set them before them, and they did eat, and he stood by them under the tree. |
|

|
| І сказали йому: де Сарра, дружина твоя? Він відповів: тут, у наметі. | And he said to him, Where is Sarrha thy wife? And he answered and said, Behold! in the tent. |
|

|
| І сказав один з них: Я знову буду в тебе у цей же час [у наступному році], і буде син у Сарри, дружини твоєї. А Сарра слухала при вході в намет, позаду його. | And he said, I will return and come to thee according to this period seasonably, and Sarrha thy wife shall have a son; and Sarrha heard at the door of the tent, being behind him. |

| Авраам же і Сарра були старі й у літах похилих, і звичайне у жінок у Сарри припинилося. | And Abraam and Sarrha were old, advanced in days, and the custom of women ceased with Sarrha. |

| Сарра внутрішньо розсміялася, сказавши: чи мені, коли я постаріла, мати цю втіху? і господар мій старий. | And Sarrha laughed in herself, saying, The thing has not as yet happened to me, even until now, and my lord is old. |
|

|
| І сказав Господь Аврааму: чому це [сама в собі] розсміялася Сарра, сказавши: «невже я дійсно можу народити, коли я постаріла»? | And the Lord said to Abraam, Why is it that Sarrha has laughed in herself, saying, Shall I then indeed bear? but I am grown old. |

| Чи є щось важке для Господа? У призначений час буду Я у тебе в наступному році, і [буде] у Сарри син. | Shall anything be impossible with the Lord? At this time I will return to thee seasonably, and Sarrha shall have a son. |
|

|
| Сарра ж не зізналася, а сказала: я не сміялася. Тому що вона злякалася. Але Він сказав [їй]: ні, ти розсміялася. | But Sarrha denied, saying, I did not laugh, for she was afraid. And he said to her, Nay, but thou didst laugh. |
|

16
|
| І встали ті мужі і звідти вирушили до Содома [і Гоморри]; Авраам же пішов з ними, провести їх. | And the men having risen up from thence looked towards Sodom and Gomorrha. And Abraam went with them, attending them on their journey. |
|

|
| І сказав Господь: чи утаю Я від Авраама [раба Мого], що хочу вчинити! | And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraam my servant what things I intend to do? |
|
18
|

|
| Від Авраама дійсно піде народ великий і сильний, і благословляться в ньому всі народи землі, | But Abraam shall become a great and populous nation, and in him shall all the nations of the earth be blest. |
|
19
|
19
|
| тому що Я обрав його для того, щоб він заповів синам своїм і дому своєму після себе, ходити путтю Господньою, творячи правду і суд; і здійснить Господь над Авраамом [усе], що сказав про нього. | For I know that he will order his sons, and his house after him, and they will keep the ways of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraam all things whatsoever he has spoken to him. |

|
| І сказав Господь: крик содомський і гоморрський, великий він, і гріх їх, дуже тяжкий він; | And the Lord said, The cry of Sodom and Gomorrha has been increased towards me, and their sins are very great. |
|
21
|
21
|
| зійду і подивлюся, чи дійсно вони чинять так, яке волання проти них, що доходить до Мене, чи ні; дізнаюся. | I will therefore go down and see, if they completely correspond with the cry which comes to me, and if not, that I may know. |
|

|
22
|
| І повернули мужі звідти і пішли до Содома; Авраам же ще стояв перед лицем Господа. | And the men having departed thence, came to Sodom; and Abraam was still standing before the Lord. |
|

|
| І підійшов Авраам і сказав: невже Ти погубиш праведного з нечестивим [і з праведником буде те саме, що з нечестивим]? | And Abraam drew nigh and said, Wouldest thou destroy the righteous with the wicked, and shall the righteous be as the wicked? |
|
24
|
24
|
| може, є в цьому місті п’ятдесят праведників? невже Ти погубиш, і не пощадиш [усього] місця цього ради п’ятдесятьох праведників, [якщо вони перебувають] у ньому? | Should there be fifty righteous in the city, wilt thou destroy them? wilt thou not spare the whole place for the sake of the fifty righteous, if they be in it? |

|
| не може бути, щоб Ти вчинив так, щоб Ти погубив праведного з нечестивим, щоб те саме було з праведником, що з нечестивим; не може бути від Тебе! Суддя всієї землі чи вчинить неправосудно? | By no means shalt thou do as this thing is so as to destroy the righteous with the wicked, so the righteous shall be as the wicked: by no means. Thou that judgest the whole earth, shalt thou not do right? |

| Господь сказав: якщо Я знайду в місті Содомі п’ятдесят праведників, то Я заради них пощаджу [все місто й] усе місце це. | And the Lord said, If there should be in Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole city, and the whole place for their sakes. |
|

|
| Авраам сказав у відповідь: ось, я насмілився говорити Владиці, я, порох і попіл: | And Abraam answered and said, Now I have begun to speak to my Lord, and I am earth and ashes. |
|

|
| можливо, до п’ятдесяти праведників не вистачить п’яти, невже через недостачу п’яти Ти винищиш усе місто? Він сказав: не винищу, якщо найду там сорок п’ять. | But if the fifty righteous should be diminished to forty-five, wilt thou destroy the whole city because of the five wanting? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there forty-five. |

| Авраам продовжував говорити з Ним і сказав: можливо, знайдеться там сорок? Він сказав: не зроблю того і заради сорока. | And he continued to speak to him still, and said, But if there should be found there forty? And he said, I will not destroy it for the forty's sake. |
|

|
| І сказав Авраам: нехай не прогнівається Владика, що я буду говорити: може, знайдеться там тридцять? Він сказав: не зроблю, якщо знайдеться там тридцять. | And he said, Will there be anything against me, Lord, if I shall speak? but if there be found there thirty? And he said, I will not destroy it for the thirty's sake. |

| Авраам сказав: ось, я зважився говорити Владиці: можливо, знайдеться там двадцять? Він сказав: не знищу ради двадцяти. | And he said, Since I am able to speak to the Lord, what if there should be found there twenty? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there twenty. |
|

| Авраам сказав: нехай не прогнівається Владика, що я скажу ще один раз: можливо, знайдеться там десять? Він сказав: не винищу заради десяти. | And he said, Will there be anything against me, Lord, if I speak yet once? but if there should be found there ten? And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. |

| І пішов Господь, припинивши говорити з Авраамом; Авраам же повернувся у своє місто. | And the Lord departed, when he left off speaking to Abraam, and Abraam returned to his place. |
